is there a way to make the rotate screen option rotate to the left instead of the right that way it rotates the same way it would if you were to slide open the keyboard? i see the option in settings/system/screen were you can choose, but that's only a one time thing.
there's a few options...
turn on the screen rotate icon and system tray and you will have an icon on your today screen at all times.
search the forums for system tray or screen rotate icon and you will find ways to do this...

i'm not talking about the icon, what i'm asking is there a way to rotate the screen to the same side as it does when you open up the keyboard, right now it rotates the opposite way.

oh yeah, I had that problem. I have SPB Pocket Plus 4 and the SPB Actions shortcuts. One of the shortcuts is "Rotate Screen Right" which rotates the screen the same direction just like you are pulling out the slider.
If you are using HTC Home and want the launcher button to rotate correctly, then you need something like I mentioned above. I map the launcher button to "rotate screen right", works like a charm.
There may be a free option out there, but I already owned pp4 so this was the easy fix. It's probably just a registry entry and screen refresh being sent to the OS.
I just mapped the `rotate screen` to a hard button and it always rotates the same way as keyboard opening now.
Check out this thread, it worked for me.

anyone able to get rotate screen to rotate the same way as when you slide out the keyboard?
Yes, see my post 2 up from yours

hmmm...somehow this doesn't work for me =/. i'll keep searching.
Dont know if this is really of any use to you but I found the reg key responsible for the auto rotate of the screen when the keyboard is slid out.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SliderOutRotateAngle
the default (original value is) 270 (this is a dword value in Dec)
If this is missing the screen won't rotate. If missing create a Dword value in the above directory (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\) Name it SliderOutRotateAngle and add the value 270 in Dec.
Confirm Settings by selecting accept changes and soft reset.
Oh 270 happen to be the degree at which the screen rotates. I set it to 180 and pulled keyboard out and it was funny to see my screen upside down.. lol
Cough, anyway hope this helps! Oh, and Merry Xmas All!!

I am having difficulty figuring out how to add the rotate screen option to the task bar. Can anyone help me on this one? (And I have searched the forum, I can only find people saying THAT they have it, not How they did it)
Thanks
just put this file into windows/start menu/programs and link it with htc home
It will do the trick.

When I press the rotate screen button in HTC Home, it rotates clockwise to landscape. That's the opposite direction of my keyboard. So then when I slide out my keyboard the screen has to flip over. That just seems silly.
Is there a way to make rotate screen rotate counter clockwise instead to match the keyboard orientation?
Thanks for your help!
Try Start>Settings>System Tab then Screen and check the orientation landscape of you choice to rotate the screen the way you want. Then go back and switch to portrait. Now when you select rotate it should remember the last setting. This works for me.

I just tried that but it still always rotate clockwise which is upside down.
Sorry, it was worth a try, it works for other apps that I use but I should have mentioned that I don't use HTC home so hadn't tried it there.

Make sure to apply the setting after you change to the orientation you want. Then, after that, you go back and change it to Portrait and apply that setting. After that, it should switch to what you chose when you press your dedicated button.

I'm missing something. I go to screen settings and select Landscape Right Handed. Then I select OK. The screen turns counter clockwise just like I want. Then I go back in and set it to Portrait and hit OK. The screen goes back to the portrait view.
Then when I hit rotate screen on HTC Home or the Cube, it rotates clockwise again and is upside down.

Ahh...I thought you had a button mapped. Well, in that case, you may have to check the settings on HTC Home or Cube. I don't use any of the two. Sorry!

It uses the same Rotate Screen feature as button mapping does. Just to test, I mapped my Internet button to Rotate Screen and went through the same process. When I press it, it still always rotates clockwise. If you could help me figure out how to get the button mapping to rotate the other way, I'm sure it would work with HTC Home as well.
Thanks!
The problem is it wants to rotate clockwise be casue there are two diferent priorty rotation events. Rotation with the KB closed goes clockwise because it follows the camera rotation rule (rotating so the camera button is on top). It seems it could be done by isolating the call madwe by opening the KB. I use the HTC tray app & that allows rotating either way with multiple pushes.
You could use the action send funtion with a "rotate left" command, but you'd have to edit the HTC Home ini file. Or use the home customizer & point to a shortcut that is an action send Rotate Left. If you want I'll build the file for you with instructions, but you'll have to place the file in your \windows\start menu\programs folder. Or wait until someone better than I has another solution.

Sounds ideal. That way the Camera button could still rotate the clockwise and the HTC Home button could rotate counter clockwise. Where do I find the HTC Home ini file to edit it?
Thank you so much for your help!
I cannot find an HTC Home ini file to edit nor can I find any default action for "Rotate Left", only "Rotate Screen". I tried HTC Home Customizer to see if there was a default action in there and there was not.
I hate to ask you to make files for me, but I'd really appreciate it.
My bad, there is no ini file It's all in a dll I believe. You can do it thought, but you will have to use the HHC home customizer for it to work with the file I create. I try to do it tonight.
I downloaded HTC Home Customizer a few minutes ago. Thanks so much for your help. I think this might be a popular request. I like to use the Kaiser in landscape whenever using GPS (which is frequent). It bugs me that I have to flip it upside down to get the keyboard open to answer a text message. Having it face that way already would be much better. You are AWESOME in my book for even being willing to try. I can't wait to see the result.
Thanks!!!!
Check your PM's. If it doesn't work I may have to edit it. I hacked it up quikly.
My just worked after changing the setting as mentioned earlier in this thread, it did revert once when I started Tomtom but just quit and restarted with all being well again.
Same problem here. Funny thing is, that I have a program (came pre-installed) called "HTCHomeplug" where the screen rotates in to both landscape directions by default. However, "HTC Home" program only does the one direction (and not the one I am looking for!).
Makes me wonder if I have the latest version of HTC Home?
Maybe this can help a little?
simple compact framework program, no gui, just rotating screen:
if screen rotation is 0 it will be changed to 90
if screen rotation is other than 0 it will be changed to 0
program isn't very fast (.net...) but fast enough to be usefull
if anyone need source code (10 lines or compiled version with diffrent rule/angle/whatever just let me know
SPB Pocket Plus includes shortcuts for rotating the screen either way. I just assigned rotate right to one of the HTC Home program shortcuts. Now I can press the default landscape shortcut to rotate left and the SPB one to rotate right. I realize it's a paid solution but it does work and there are other benefits provided by SPB Pocket Plus as well.
Fast but not fixed to 1 rotation
i hope i will still get reply for this.
I downloaded this in 1 of the thread.
It is so fast for screen rotation. however it goes all the 180,270 then back to the portrait display.
Is there anyway to modify it so it can only rotate in 1 angle, being just as fast in rotation?
Thanx

Hi Qlphn,
Could you please make this app rotate screen from 0 to 270. If you would upload it here, I would really appreciate.
Thanks
With the Alex Game Rom, the htchome screen rotate button rotates clockwise to landscape, how do I make it rotate counterclockwise to landscape (the landscape direction when using the keyboard)?
thanks,
I was going to ask same question, actually.. anybody knows?
It'd be perfect if it'd switch Kaiser to landscape and back (toggle thing). it does so now, just landscape is rotating left instead of right.. any way to change that?
Don't use HTC Home, but this might work;
Start>Settings> System Tab then Screen and set Orientation to right-handed or left-handed which ever is what you want, then switch back to portrait. For "Most" apps that have a switch to landscape, they will switch to what you last set in this config screen as it seems to remember this preference.
Hopefully HTC's screen isn't hard coded elseware...
Nope unfortunatelly that doesn't fix it.
on some other forum there was a supposed registry fix. HKLM, system, gdi, rotation; landscape mode (change 4 to 1). But this doesnt seem to stick, and I dont know if it does what we are talking about anyway.
this is how i do it
go to settings, and remap the press to talk button in rotate screen. works flawless on my device. I use it for tomtom, first it also rotated the wrong direction. now it is fine.
Try this....

Try this:
Open your reg editor (I use Resco Registry Editor Mainly) and navigate to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC Scroll to the botton of the folder (so to speak) and at the bottom you will find a reg value called "SliderOutRotateAngle" it default value is (that is the correct angle for sliding the keyboard out. Just change this value for a different angle i.e. 90, 180 etc.. (PLEASE NOTE THIS REG KEY IS A DWORD KEY AND ENTER IN DEC FORM/This is just in case you delete it by acident)
As with most .reg changes, don't forget to soft-reset..
Hope this helps..

On the Diamond the screen options under settings do not include the Landscape / Portrait wwitch. Is there any way to force the device to Landscape?
you can force Landscape / Portrait with "WisBar Advance"
Or with QuickMenu...
yeah, personally I have this switch mapped to win-logo long press in QuickMenu
Found this, posted somewhere odd

The Touch Diamond does not show the WM screen rotation under settings so we can't manually set rotation for apps like Word, SMS. Here is how to enable it. After you've done the hack, run the app you want to rotate (eg. Word Mobile), then do Start, Settings, System, Screen to set rotation to landscape. The onscreen keyboard is much larger in landscape! When you click the HOME key it will go back to portrait.
Enable Manual Screen Rotation (Portrait/Landscape):
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
Change is immediate effectively. No reboot is required.

confirmed, this works.
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation :
LandscapeFixed: set to "0" ( default is "1" )
extends options to:
Portrait
Landscape (right-handed)
Landscape (left-handed)
cool, thanks - this is handy for me being lefty; any chance of disabling the right-handed option forever?
You can do just what you want using Mortscript...
And the script should run automatically everytime you reboot your device....

i also set this up. works only on home page. f in an app, i get this new never efore seen menu that says \
Copy
Cut
Paste
Select All
Select all + copy
select all + cut
Undo
If we now can activate it from the system eventually we'll get to know how to use the acceleremoter in whole system or atleast in whole TF3D.
woho, nice to hear that the edit menu works on diamond too, cause it's dunno why not working for me. this is great feature of quickmenu allowing you to manipulate with the clipboard whenever you're in an editbox.
It would be nice to have G-sensor to automatically rotates screen in all apps. I'm sure that there is a way, registry entry perhaps.
You can, using this app:

1.) Give Google a try and search for TF3D Config!
2.) go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430174

Hello guys,
for the last 20' i am searching the forum but i cant find an answer.
Is there a tweak for the diamond to be able to write in landscape? The landscape mode of other phones is sooooo nice, that it is for me a major factor in selecting the phone i am going to purchase. Makes the SMS life so much easier...
Download GSen from the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Then you can just turn the phone sideways to switch any app into landscape mode.
Enable Manual Screen Rotation (Portrait/Landscape): HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
After this, you can map the long press key to <Rotate>.....I go into sms, press the answer button for a sec...everything goes into landscape....exiting the program takes me back to portrait on the today screen. My only gripe is that it rotates only clockwise. I would rather it rotate the other way but it works.
Your other option is to try Gsen and use the G Sensor to rotate the screen. I have not tried it yet as I have read that some have experienced bugs.

I must say though that texting using the WM6.1 qwerty keyboard isn't too hard. I dont have fat fingers though.

yup just what i was gonna say, and it works well, i believe you can also manually rotate the screen in the options menu (there is a tweak for this listed in the tweaks thread i think) but i just use GSEN since it lets you rotate any app just by tilting the phone

remove all other values in the gsen config and keep the one for sms.
