As see, Htc S730 is very slow in display, because lack of video drivers .
You can compare the experience with running your Windows computer in "safe mode" with the default "VGA driver".
HTCClassAction.org have not been sitting on their hands after the drama about the Kaiser / TyTn II / Tilt's lack of video drivers shook out. Though HTC is not releasing a full set of true drivers, the hackers at HTCClassAction are! They're still basically in “proof-of-concept” mode right now, but the concept, it's proven: full video hardware acceleration is working on a TyTN II and Wings

ROM WM6.1 needed to run this new driver
Geat news! Hoping there will be a 2d/video accelerated version...
I tried installing the CAB using my HTC S730 original WM6.0 ROM ( Yes, I know... was just a silly try)
Result is: "Could not initialize Direct3D" when running the test application.
Is there a way to "uninstall" this driver
Abviously WM6.1 cooked ROM is needed .
Update
I tried registry editing/key deleting, but it seems it is not so simple to partially uninstall: probably some of the original dll are overwritten and I need original ones (or have to hard reset to get non accelerated d3d back... I think...)
This is wonderful news! I'd almost given up my hopes on a proper driver, now i can see the light in the tunnel again! awesome!

We have D3D running on the TyTN II, check out the Driver progress page for the specifics.

The S730 is slow? How's that? S730 may not have hw acceleration but it is one of the fastest smartphones and the graphics is way faster then on Kaiser. (Try running TT5/6 on both devices side by side and you will se the much smoother graphics of S730)
I am happy they are putting out more power, but is it only for video or will it optimize the phone overall?
And I would like it to work on the stock phone since not too many cooked 6.1's are 100% yet (although I dont keep up with the threads on them.)
Only D3D for now (but...)

Currently on htcclassaction.org they say it's only a D3D improvement, but they say also that is only a WIP version, and 2D, video and "overall" improvements are work in progress too....

Thats what I figured from the site, hopefully they will finish it up and release it for the stock phone.
I am glad someone is working on it. Its been how long since HTC said they were going to do "something" about it lol.
Have anybody tried installing those drivers on any 6.1 WM on s730 ? Worked ? Better ? Worse ? I know that there is no official rom but maybe works on Alcaline or other. Are there ROMs with this driver integrated ?
I am looking for the package on their site but can't find the one for Wings. Anyone got any luck?
Kaiser is similar to Wings. Kaiser has touchscreen which isn`t included in Wings. Maybe works on 6.1 ? I don`t know? If works then i will install new rom else 6.0 is also good...
Actually I am using CCWAV's 6.5 ROM. I don't know what could a driver do any more to my mobile, it is working smoothly as it is.

what I think about this rom, 3 answers I have:
1-Bluetooth problems with my headset.(msi and motorola h3 too) without BT_Patch. But it's my problem and thats mine choose, i must wait fix. GPS and other BT services works perfect.
2-Wifi problem, sometimes needs to reset. May this problem will never resolve, i can live with this
other side Wifi give beter performance than windows 2k3, really! I think it's come from ram paging pool,
exm: I control my pc with wifi and i can play GTA san andreas from my pda, eheheh, i can show my msn web cam to

3-Phone sometimes give error while turning on/off flight mode and phone goes to lock while speaking longtimes. But not allways.

There is 5 creators here, and they make wm5 roms whith different roms but they have some problems may the creators can works together and give us a clean wm5 or wm6 rom.

I allready saw too , but it's for Universal, let's hope we will have soon a wm6 for BA
Well they have one for both the Wizard and the Universal now, we just need one for the Blue Angel, come on guys, the suspense is killing us
Will it be possible to port the ROM for BA? 'Cos I saw some post somewhere in 4rum saying it seems impossible???

that we dont know yet, also because most of BA developers are changing to Universal at the moment. honestly, I dont see that it's gonna happen soon specially without having enough developers working on it.
There is a ROM out for the HTC Universal and HTC Wizard. There is nothing yet for our HTC BA.
I did have a look porting it, but it looks pretty impossible for me to do -I'd never done it before and there is no base ROM at the moment.
Only thing we can hope for is some of those BA gods do a spiffing job on it!! (We know who they are )
Pray that it'll be quite possible!!!

So sad to hear this. All we need are the base cleaned ROM and relevant tools to edit. But like you said, I guess we may be gonna have to wait for long, if it's really possible.

You can edit the crossbow roms with mamaich tools for WM5, but there is more than adding drivers for make WM6 work on BA, the main problem is WM6 core, if someone manage to port it it will work
(Nothing's impossible, but some things are harder to achieve)

totally agree to that xplode, so hurry up, we are all waiting
anyway plz do your best
alternately you COULD try running xbow on top of wm5 core (similar thing was done for OS X on PC's, until recently for that they used 10.4.8 OSX with 10.4.4 kernel) If this works (it should - kernel for WM5 is 5.1.xxxxx, WM6 is 5.2.xxx, only a 0.1 increment) then you could run crossbow just without the core
without the core rom, are we gonna have most functionalities still?
i dont know - im just brainstorming atm
hopefully most of the features will be separate from the core, remember it's still based on CE 5 and only a .1 increment
Hi guys,
I've been looking at the WM6 leaks for Uni and Wiz with a view to getting something running on BA.
The 2 biggest problems are
- the kernel (nk.exe) is compiled per-hardware platform.
so a WM6 kernel exists for universal, and for wizard, but not for BA
the only reason we were able to run WM5 on BA was because of a leaked
kernel for our hardware platform
- the WM6 roms are much larger than wm5 ones
Even a base set of features seems to need careful packaging and some
UPX compression to fit in the BA's 32mb ROM
Even if the WM6 applications and features could be persuaded to run in the existing WM5 kernel, the result could never be really called "WM6".
Without a proper kernel for BA, I doubt it's really worth the effort.
So we all wait for the right kernel, then thing's done. Think that It's gonna be available someday.
That seems im? Possible.
Why?
Some members already try to tell this
bastard reality but it's true.
Core system = kernel structure
must be emulate to BA's H/W.
The kernel softwares especially written for which device will use it.
but we forget a point!
All of Windows Mobile OS's had a SDK
and they have flexible content.
What i mean?
We have 2 problems.
1- Hardware compatibility.
(Drivers and device functions management )
2- OS infrastructure
(Device based shell and kernel api management.)
Explanation:
1-We're already know all of PocketPC devices had different hardwares. We must make or find or emulate current drivers to our BA...
How?
Too hard... it's an engineer work.
Assembly and C knowledge necessary.
But we have a key:
Every Windows Mobile OS kernel versions
written in same way. May we can use
old drivers? may anyone can emulate them.
2-OS integration and device management structure with shell and kernel api's.
Windows OS's allways use API system with 2 types.
1) Shell api ( Interface )
That used for visual and non-visual OS functions. like DirectX api's.
2) Kernel api (Core system)
To use device funcitons,
accesing Processor, RAM, ROM and
others.
Some Windows mobile versions had same hardwares but they managed
with different API's
Why?
I don't know...
what we need?
We must emulate this API's?
How?
Not hard as first problem but not easy too...
I think there is one way.
We try to hardluck, remake and convert old API's to the new ones.
This is illegal and outlaw. Goes to reverse engineering and Bill gates will angry...
Yes that is impossible as first one.
Windows Mobile 5 OS's can be port but at this time no one have so much information about WM6 kernel and shell systemand nobody did make an explanation about WM6 SDK how it's works.
This comments mixed with what i've earned from internet.
If you don't understand...
Think so as;
is Windows98 have transparency windows?
is Windows XP have 3D desktop? or AURA interface?
I CAN SAY CLEARLY:
This is impossible just yet,
may be next times but not at now.
Note: Universal and BA uses smiliar hw than others.
THANKS.
When will crossbow actually be realeased in final version (leaked or non leaked, but a stable version)?(I know we can't tell whether it will be leaked or not!)
great news that seems awesome

""Now we have all that out of the way, here is the actual CAB file(http://www.htcclassaction.org/download/HTC-CA-Kaiser-Drivers.cab ) . Just install it on your device. Here is a RAR file (http://www.htcclassaction.org/download/Lights.rar) containing a sample D3D application - indeed the same as shown in the video - you can use to see if the drivers worked! Unrar it on your PC, copy the EXE files to your device, and run it on your device. It will show a few popups telling you if hardware is used or not.""
""These drivers require a Kaiser (TyTN II) and a ROM based on the official HTC WM 6.1 update!. Exactly which ROMs are compatible is not yet known. We have tested this on multiple Kaisers, but all of them were running Dutty's Diamond V1 ROM. It is extremely unlikely that these files will work out-of-the-box on any other MSM7x00 based device (at this time).""
i'm just flashing and check this out
They work on Garmin 1.2. Bigggg difference running the Lights program
Just thought i'd add the rest of the info:
"OK folks, here it is! A few hours later than projected, but still: OpenGL ES and D3D drivers (non-fullscreen) for the kaiser!"
"Before continuing, we would like to stress yet again, because there seems to be a little confusion here and there: these drivers are not finished, this is a work-in-progress. This is not a fix-all solution!. Currently the only things that are supported are hardware-accelerated D3D and OpenGL ES. These drivers are merely a release you can 'play' with, and prove it can be done. How many real-world applications will work with it remains to be seen, and we expect the users in the community will gather a list of these rather quickly."
"To elaborate further, these drivers do not accelerate video playback. These drivers do not accelerate normal Windows operation. Some of you have asked if we have abandoned accelerated 2D. We have not, it may still come. The simple fact is, that in this particular case, it was easier to work with the 3D drivers first"
yes but is a big big start
now we can keep hopping for better days with our kaisers
FINALLY!
I hope we get 2D acceleration as well. 3d is great, but 2D is better for me since I'm using office apps on my kaiser the majority of the time.
Ahh so it wasn't HTC who released these drivers like I originally thought. My original F**k you to HTC still stands.
Props to the person(s) who spent many hours getting this working.

I hope HTC continues with the development of these drivers and doesn't just say 'well, you complained about 3d accel long enough, here's something resembling a driver' and leave it at that.
If someone from HTC is reading this, Thank you very much for finally getting these out the door, and please don't stop I think 2D accel would be a great christmas present

As said in previous post HTC let us down totaly on the driver issue, vague promises, but no delivery, then againm why make the Kaiser better if that may have negative sale impact on the new Daimond..
I can tell HTC one thing: the Kaiser was my last HTC, not because of the Kaiser, I still love it; but due to their attitude in this driver struggle.. They shown they have no regards whatsoever to the customer after they bought their product,
Well.... for me... as long as i got a better camera in my device.... i am happy... as it is the only thing i am unhappy with my device..

we need a sticky thread that people post what there results are with the beta drivers with different ROM's right now i tried on my rom that is in my sig (april 29 dutty's), and i had no go, i dont know if before directdraw worked in video tests, but i benchmarked a video and it worked very slow though 39% vs 80-95% in raw and other setttings
also for those who can benchmark it would be nice to see which ROM gives the most performace and bug free?
also i would like to know if its possible to do reg hack/import of the paths that diamond based roms have, to those that were pre diamond based or even pre full 6.1 roms?
im not 100% sure but remember that those new roms didnt have drivers but did have paths/links to what could be drivers, with a simple cab older ROM's could work with the driver as well?

That's not entirely true, it doesn't make any changes to the kaiser's 2D graphic performance, but that is because it's 3D graphics drivers. The video demonstrates that there is 3G acceleration being enabled by these drivers, though it still won't fix what ails the kaiser...but it's a step in the right direction.

I agree, When I first tested the light.exe bench, It was laagy and hardware was not detected, now it rocks
Glbenchmark is still not working but I think there is hope for 3D games and may be touchflo 3D
confirmed
1. run lights.exe with no drivers
- driver provider: Microsoft
- hardware rasterization: false
- hardware T&L: false
- using system memory
- around 1 fps
2. installed drivers, soft reste
3. run lights.exe again
- driver provider: n/a
- hardware rasterization: true
- hardware T&L: true
- using video memory
- around 15 fps
one bug - could be driver could be lights.exe could be rom (L26_KDV9): leaving lights.exe runing until the screen turns off freezes your device. I didn't test w/o the driver.

u r right. just tried it. wonderful app by Omikr0n. but is there any benefit for other apps if we using this driver? just curious whether this driver better cooked in or just as seperate cab.
Has anyone been able to get their TP/Fuze running a 6.5 ROM to connect and be detected by Napster as a Napster to Go compatible device?
Since I flashed my ROM from PROven 6.1 to RRE 6.5, and any other 6.5 ROM, Napster no longer detects my phone when I sync via activesync, but the PC does recognize it.
i used to run shep's rom, and it would connect. However, many cooks remove it from their 6.5 roms.
I was about to make a thread about this myslef.
To all the cook's out there, can we get a cab to install the removed drivers required for DRM to work.
I realize there are some instability issues with DRM and win mobile 6.5, but i personally would be willing to live with those if it meant having this capability.
I cried a little inside when I had to downgrade from Energy 3.0 back to 2.0 because my device would go unrecognized...
Maybe I can find where the drivers are and get them seperatly? I'll see what I can do.
I posted on NRG's 3.0 thread a few times, and sent him a private message. I loved that ROM.
I am not going back to Shep's, hopefully his new version still has DRM.
Guys, I hate to be someone who keeps crying about something... but this is one of the benefits of a win mobile phone.
Would it be at all possible to get this functionality?
Thanks
i flashed 6.5 and notice right away that napster would not recognize, went back to 6.1, , bummer. hope, in time i hope its able to work.
Please...
Can someone create this fix for us DRM users.
I've just tried dumping a stock diamond rom and then re-cooking it unchanged using ervius' latest kitchen (as I was planing to slowly upgrade the SYS/XIP and packages to try and see when it stopped working) and it doesn't work straight away.
We know that Da_G uses Ervius' kitchen too and it looks like the Juicy 8 roms are also built using a PlatformRebuilder based kitchen.

the same problem with napster and i-player downloaded movies
Hi,
I also used Duttys ROM and even dropped him a letter about it today. Maybe that is really just one simple fix. Napster is not working and Media Player is no longer downloading DRM from internet while playing movies and programms from BBC i-player.
Help....
Just flashing the ROM back to the old version...
We should probably move this thread to the ROM development section as this does not seem like a software problem.
Could a Moderator be kind enough to do this for us.
that would be great
some people really like the fact that HD can do a lot of things at once and having 5GB of music is one of those things
It would be a great thing to have WM6.5 ROM and have all DRM working.
Thank you for understanding, moderator
I have been working a bit with Juicy on this and he is reporting that DRM will be fixed in his upcoming release. I think it's a PlatforRebuilder issue but not sure.
I did some testing and the DRM Device certificate required to have the device recognized is not present.
Hopefully Juicy will indeed have it fixed.

If it is fixed, would it be possible to get this as a CAB, or are these deeper kernel changes? I ask because I am using NRG's Mercury rom right now.
Haven't been around for a while. I can report that the DRM issue was NOT fixed in Juicy's latest build. I have not seen anywhere that it is working in WM6.5.
I wonder if it was removed in the latest builds of WM6.5, or maybe the people who are providing said builds are removing it. Maybe we will have to wait for WM6.5 to come out before we get this resolved.

could you elaborate a little? How exactly do we use these to access Napster togo?
I hated to do it but I dropped Napster for EMusic which is definitely inferior. Also does anyone know if Pandora is useable on the Fuze or Diamond P3700?
Yes Pandora is usable for the most part. There is a thread here in the Software section(I can't find it right now).
I have been reading though sound taxi, and it seems very interesting. It converts the WMA Protected files to mp3 format which you can then use Media Player or any such application to manage and transfer.
I will play around with it more, thanks for the tip buffalosolja42. I just think there may be some legal caviots with Napster To Go, but if you have an active subscription i think it would be alright.
Seems a bit wrong having to rip the DRM out of napster to use it when it should be there already?
Touch HD here, i love my Miri 6.5 builds but napster makes my phone so much more, so i downed to a dutty 6.1 and still it won't sync!
I cried inside
If we could be told if a cab is even possible it'd be great, i'd like to try it at least!
A few words about the HTC Kaiser:
it has a great design, with many functions. Also good features (GPS, QWERTY keyboard, etc).
But: I now have about 4 WM-devices at home. An Asus P525, an HTC Hermes, an Ipaq 914c, a Sony Xperia X1, and a Kaiser.
And you know which one performs the WORST? It is the Kaiser
And I guess it is due to the Qualcomm CPU. The menus open much slower than on the other ones. The P525 from Asus has a feature to set the CPU to power save/normal/turbo. Even power save is not as bad as the Kaiser.
Also the scrolling in the menus (WM6.5 style) is not as smooth. And yes, I tried all kinds of ROMs (6.1 and 6.5, different builds and chefs as well).
I think I will sell my Kaiser now and avoid Qualcomm CPUs for the future.
Too bad the Hermes has no GPS built-in. Otherwise, I would give it clear preference.
have you tried gfxboost yet?

downloaded and installed it! Thank you! It is way better now, still behind other CPUs but approaching "reasonable".
GFXboost is available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
also this thread seems interesting: (June 1st 2009!!!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496528
Now I wonder why almost none of the chefs use gfxboost in their ROMs?
glad to help! htc really did a number with the kaiser (and continues to do so with newer models)...htc makes great hardware but they really need to get their act together with all the driver and software issues and inadequacies...
BUT xda and the geniuses here has been such a wonderful resource to get our devices purring like they should be in the first place when they leave the factory
ALSO, the kaiser is a GREAT machine (as you mentioned)...feel free to tweak it and try out other ROMs...if you are into wm6.1 and manila2d, i highly recommend the ROM i am currently using, with gfxboost added on manually of course (HyperDragon IV Rhodium ROM April 10th, 2009)
regarding ROMs with gfxboost, SOME exist (i think abusalza with his PDACorner ROMs briefly included gfxboost in one of his recent ROMs)
if you're looking for better scrolling, then i hear wm6.5 has builtin scrolling that is better than touchflo and i have read reports that wm6.5 also benefits from gfxboost but you already seem to know most of this, judging from your first post!
Hi to all,i'm looking for a qwerty-keyboard phone for my gf,and i can't afford umts Blackberry (she has h3g sim),is this phone a good choice, even if it's really old?
I've found it for 90 €,it seems good to me,but i don't want to buy a too slow device.
I'm used to HTC Diamond, which has slightly better hardware but suffers using 3d manila and stuff "overrated" for its hw (despite the claims they sold it with in the past ).
Is Tytn II still good for 2d stuff and normal everyday usage?
I even see it has a dedicated android section,so maybe its better than diamond at handling it,this would be sweet too
Let me know,thanks for help
The build quility is superb, an incredible bit of engineering.
Graphics can be slow for heavy gamers or GPS applications. I really liked mine, only moved on as had it stolen.
I was on a 6.1 standard ROM & it ran very well for all basic phone tasks such as emailing sms/mms ect & handling office docs was good too.
I used it as a modem for notebook internet too. Wifi & BT worked ok & keyboard plus d-pad were nice in function.
Only downside is the weight of the device but for the price today it is incredible value for money, you will only find a few devices that feel such quality in build.
The tilt screen is very cool & they do look good sat on a desk in full tilt.
If she likes the look of it get it, plenty of tweaks & support for the Kaiser so should still be a fun device.
Not so good that it suffers gps apps, but i guess its normal...
And is it good to use limiting touchscreen inputs (she hates touchscreen )?
I mean, except for opening start menu,is it usable with hardware buttons, more than touch?
Yes it is very good in terms of button function.
I improved button function by using mortscripts that would change button function pending on active window & reg keys such as headphones connected, active sync connect ect.
Even the screen is quite good when you need to use it.
Touchscreens are over rated in usability, the touch diamond 2 would of been fantastic if it had a small joy stick d-pad in the centre under buttons but no you have to struggle with that ****e zoom bar touch panel which only has movement in 2 directions.
Tactile feel of buttons can never be replaced by a screen period.
I could do functions on my Kaiser without looking at it as buttons could act like brale.
The slow graphic issue didn't seem that bad to me, I used mapking & Garmin with no issues & played games such as Duke Nukem without issues.
I'm on a touch pro at the moment, I like it but miss the solid build of the Kaiser, it feels unbreakable ...
You could also look at the HTC S710 !
Just bought for my gf...its ****ing awesome, compared to my plastic-breaking-with-breath diamond :asd:
Just waiting to learn how to unlock
Speaking about cooked rom,any suggestion about a speedy rom (not necessarily manila,it just should be "handy to use" and light)?
And should i try android (aka is it fast and functional enough?)
Thanks everybody
edit: oh,and how can i check if it has hardspl installed already?
I was on latest standard rom with graphics driver from HTCCA.
I would start off on a standard ROM unless you spot an interesting custom ROM which has solid feedback.
To view HardSPL version go to bootloader mode:
-Enter Bootloader mode: Hold Camera + Power buttons together and reset with stylus
(exit bootloader by pressing soft reset button)
-HardReset: Hold Talk and End soft key - Reset :When prompted push Green Talk Button
This is the unlock tools I used: (Not sure if supports 3 network !)

Go to the ROM development section, read through the FAQ links. That will give you some basic ideas what is available, etc.
If you want great batt life with plenty of memory, use WM 6.1, not 6.5 ..
To know which ROM is best, read through the last pages (10 - 20)of each thread, the feedback from the users will give you overall view. Why I suggested 10-20, because for old ROM that chef has left, recent posts are usually useless, repeating old questions again and again.

It is un-installable & should be no problem.
Make sure that stock 6.1 is the latest release. I can dig out a serial if you require ROM downloading direct from htc website.
how can i find if it's the latest release (i thought there was just one)?
I should have a serial number on mine too,for downloading,or am i missing something?
Thanks for all your help,anyway
@anagarika:wm 6.1 is for sure, even my diamond suffers from 6.5
ps:i entered bootloader,it says SPL 3.29,i guess it's still the original one
Latest HTC generic ROM is:
HTC TyTN II_RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.17.56_Ship.exe
You can see ROM version in Settings device information.
If your device is branded your serial will not work with HTC website, so you will need a serial of a generic HTC kaiser ;-)
Your SPL is original. Installing the hardSPL is easy & unlocking can be quite straight forward but may require downgrading to wm6 ROM to unlock & then upgrading to a 6.1 rom of your choice.
My rom is 3.29.408.o ITA,other stuff is lke you posted...i guess it's the latest one then
Newest Italian is:
_HTC TyTN II_WM6.1_MR2_RUU_Kaiser_HTC_ITA_3.29.408.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.17.56_Ship.zip
So looks like your on newest ROM.
I already had d3d drivers ("previous version will be uninstalled")...all these concerns for nothing
Anyway i installed spb mobile shell 3.5,themed,and it's a good mid-point between eyecandy and memory usage...
I only have some hang-ups when i make some operations too fast (e.g. i open and reclose very fast an app),making me have to reboot the phone...but it only happens sometimes, and i guess it's related to mobile shell
I tried to install updated camera app yesterday (nadavi 5.xx) but then camera screen turned black,so i uninstalled.
I installed htc album too,but its menus are blank (i can select them with left and right keys, but nothing's written down)...do you know which version of these packages works for sure?
edit:i fixed camera problem, but album issue is still there, although i tried two different versions
Mmm don't know which HTC album viewer is your best option, I used Resco Photo viewer Pro as far surpases the HTC app.
Tried it,perfect program
Thanks a lot (i think there's no way to oc the cpu a little, right?)
Nope, just don't use CPU & graphic heavy software. Mine run sweet & was very usable.
