Has anyone been able to get their TP/Fuze running a 6.5 ROM to connect and be detected by Napster as a Napster to Go compatible device?
Since I flashed my ROM from PROven 6.1 to RRE 6.5, and any other 6.5 ROM, Napster no longer detects my phone when I sync via activesync, but the PC does recognize it.
i used to run shep's rom, and it would connect. However, many cooks remove it from their 6.5 roms.
I was about to make a thread about this myslef.
To all the cook's out there, can we get a cab to install the removed drivers required for DRM to work.
I realize there are some instability issues with DRM and win mobile 6.5, but i personally would be willing to live with those if it meant having this capability.
I cried a little inside when I had to downgrade from Energy 3.0 back to 2.0 because my device would go unrecognized...
Maybe I can find where the drivers are and get them seperatly? I'll see what I can do.
I posted on NRG's 3.0 thread a few times, and sent him a private message. I loved that ROM.
I am not going back to Shep's, hopefully his new version still has DRM.
Guys, I hate to be someone who keeps crying about something... but this is one of the benefits of a win mobile phone.
Would it be at all possible to get this functionality?
Thanks
i flashed 6.5 and notice right away that napster would not recognize, went back to 6.1, , bummer. hope, in time i hope its able to work.
Please...
Can someone create this fix for us DRM users.
I've just tried dumping a stock diamond rom and then re-cooking it unchanged using ervius' latest kitchen (as I was planing to slowly upgrade the SYS/XIP and packages to try and see when it stopped working) and it doesn't work straight away.
We know that Da_G uses Ervius' kitchen too and it looks like the Juicy 8 roms are also built using a PlatformRebuilder based kitchen.

the same problem with napster and i-player downloaded movies
Hi,
I also used Duttys ROM and even dropped him a letter about it today. Maybe that is really just one simple fix. Napster is not working and Media Player is no longer downloading DRM from internet while playing movies and programms from BBC i-player.
Help....
Just flashing the ROM back to the old version...
We should probably move this thread to the ROM development section as this does not seem like a software problem.
Could a Moderator be kind enough to do this for us.
that would be great
some people really like the fact that HD can do a lot of things at once and having 5GB of music is one of those things
It would be a great thing to have WM6.5 ROM and have all DRM working.
Thank you for understanding, moderator
I have been working a bit with Juicy on this and he is reporting that DRM will be fixed in his upcoming release. I think it's a PlatforRebuilder issue but not sure.
I did some testing and the DRM Device certificate required to have the device recognized is not present.
Hopefully Juicy will indeed have it fixed.

Hi ahuskins, did Juicy manage to get this working in the end?

If it is fixed, would it be possible to get this as a CAB, or are these deeper kernel changes? I ask because I am using NRG's Mercury rom right now.
Haven't been around for a while. I can report that the DRM issue was NOT fixed in Juicy's latest build. I have not seen anywhere that it is working in WM6.5.
I wonder if it was removed in the latest builds of WM6.5, or maybe the people who are providing said builds are removing it. Maybe we will have to wait for WM6.5 to come out before we get this resolved.

could you elaborate a little? How exactly do we use these to access Napster togo?
I hated to do it but I dropped Napster for EMusic which is definitely inferior. Also does anyone know if Pandora is useable on the Fuze or Diamond P3700?
Yes Pandora is usable for the most part. There is a thread here in the Software section(I can't find it right now).
I have been reading though sound taxi, and it seems very interesting. It converts the WMA Protected files to mp3 format which you can then use Media Player or any such application to manage and transfer.
I will play around with it more, thanks for the tip buffalosolja42. I just think there may be some legal caviots with Napster To Go, but if you have an active subscription i think it would be alright.
Seems a bit wrong having to rip the DRM out of napster to use it when it should be there already?
Touch HD here, i love my Miri 6.5 builds but napster makes my phone so much more, so i downed to a dutty 6.1 and still it won't sync!
I cried inside
If we could be told if a cab is even possible it'd be great, i'd like to try it at least!

Here is as requested, a base rom.
Im giving you here, something I didnt actually want to do. My kaiser build for wing, but no apps but comm manager and touchdialer (I left those because the default has been stripped out)
The stuff removed:
All custom apps
Games
Transcriber
office
internetsharing
my5 fav
win live
live update
alot of ringtones and unusefull sounds
alot of gif files
cant remember the rest right now
This roms is ment for cooking your own rom, not for release of "your rom" after building it like you want. But I cant control that, but do so, and you will never again see work from me on xda.
I left in the rom the .rgu files, so recooking wont be a problem.
If you need apps to include, find them. I will not provide that for you.
Oem packages is all over this place.
So, follow my tutorial to extract it and make your oem, sys and rom folder.
Add the stuff you want and build it as you want for your own device.
I have not had the time, nor do I have the time to flash this to my own to test it, but I see no reson why it should not. But before you come yelling about it not working after you followed the tutorials and w/e, test it by flashing it to your device before you try to cook it.
I removed aprox 16 mb of stuff, but Im not sure what this will show up as after flashing since I dint have time to test it myself.
btw
pagepool is left to default
The os.nb is packed with winrar, so unrar/unzip it.
happy cooking/flashing
cheers

(The reason im releasing this is because I have other projects I wanna do, my own device has been neglected to long, and I need to give p4350 users a better build too.)
and yeah, im sure many are waiting for the next part of the tutorial, I hope to finish it before next weekend, my schedule is pretty tight right now.
Maybe I will give a go for ppl to release their rom from this, but not yet for awhile.
Please try to build your own if you wanna release something
good luck experimenting on this

Question...
You said you wouldn't like anyone to release a ROM based on your ROM. What about a kitchen and use your ROM as one of the base ROMs they can use? All the TOUCH-IT stuff would stay untouched (if the "branding" is still there), all credit to you would still be there. All they would be doing would be checking boxes of what apps they would like to have. They won't be able to do a lot, since it's a fixed function, but at least for people who don't have time, like your ROM and want to make a personal one with the apps they want, it would help out. It's the alternative to a fully cooked ROM which would have a truly customized setup. I could even draft up a "license agreement" stating that they can't release a ROM created with that kitchen... (And place something hidden from them in the ROM to let you and I identify if the ROM just released was made with the kitchen.)

Thats why this rom has been released, so that ppl can use it as base in hypercore.
Im not gonna build a kitchen, to hypercore is far the best I know of (kudos to anichillus) And oem packages are placed all over xda forums, search in kitchen threads for the other devices, most apps work for herald.
I dont need no agreement, I was hoping that what I said would be enough
cheerz
I was porting over a new kitchen for people who just wanted point and click, but instead, I might just make a thread as a repository of all the different packages that they can use with your ROM... I don't know. I guess it depends on how much time I have to work on it. The Kitchen Port seems simpler since I have it set ready for the most part...
thanks but i hope the repairing will cost less than your p4350
btw - it was an brand new device since they changed it after i disclaimed the loose slider. it was only 2 month old.....
we´ll see what happens...

I'm either going to get a HTC Kaiser 120 or E-ten Glofiish M800; and a 6mb memory card or course, lol. I'm leaning towards the HTC Kaiser 120 because of the, video calling capabilities, 128MB of onboard RAM and the 3meg pixel camera. I just hope that these devices are not obsolete by then LOL.

Has anyone cooked with this ROM, yet? I get it installed, it boots but I can't get past the setup because the touch screen won't work.
EDIT: I tried flashing this ROM directly and the touch screen did not work. Did you remove the touchflo from it? (And thus removed the standard touchscreen driver? As I thought they were tied in together. I might be dead wrong about that.)
Sorry, man. You're ROM doesn't quite work.
EDIT: Were you using FTouchFlo instead? I thought they had actually cracked Touchflo itself...
Either way, the ROM's touch screen system doesn't work. :-/

All oem apps are stripped out, that includes touchflo. therefor the default touch.dll folder is also removed. from oemdrivers
This rom is more ment to be a base for the tutorial, extract it, then build on it. Add touchflo..w/e.
But the thing is, it boots up, and youi get to the point where you are supposed to setup touchscreen, and thats actually a working rom for me. It proves that the 50mb limit I mentioned before is no issue, so to me, is your info good news, Im happy for herald users. And so should you be.
So why not extract it, and move it to the build section of hypercore.
Then extract the wing official, go to oem/oemdrivers and copy the touch.dll folder, move it to the build/oem/oemdrivers build the rom, flash it and have a working base rom.
and no, I never have used ftouchflo, I use the original htc touchflo

Cool [about the touchflo] What I mean, though, is that when I flash the base ROM with NO changes, the part where you setup the touchscreen is NOT working for me. I tried it three times. hmm...I wonder if it's a wing vs herald thing?

touch.dll isn't in the official dump. That doesn't make sense... it HAS to be there somewhere... I'll try to redump it.

I've finally decided to move up to WM6.1 on my TyTN II.
My question is, would the cab files I currently have installed on my unit (with WM6.0) still work once I upgrade to 6.1?
The most important programs I want re-installed are primarily the TouchFLO upgrades (TouchFLO cube, Random Access, Task Manager etc) and the media upgrades (HTC Album and Camera; TCPMP).
Also, am I right in assuming all the standard programs that were installed in my phone when it was new (Mobile Office, WMP, Adobe Reader, etc) will also be in the 6.1 installation pack? I'll be using the WM6.1 I downloaded from the HTC e-Club site.

Not sure, but probably most of the yes, it was the case when I did it. You would need to reinstall these cabs because programs can't be correctly restored when doing a ROM upgrade, even with programs like Sprite Backup.

Task Manager, HTC Album and Camera are included. I am not using the others. If you do a search on the forum and to be sure, you will probably find these programs updated and also in 6.1 cooked ROMs.

Yes, in some cases updated versions will be installed plus a few improvements that you can find here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375979 and by searching. I didn't miss any previous WM 6.0 programs after the upgrade.
I strongly recommend a full backup before upgrading.
I hope you don't use GPS then

I don't use any of those cabs but some of them seem to have WM 6.1 compatible versions from searching here. You do realise that many people have had issues with GPS performance since upgrading to WM 6.1 from 6.0. Personally I wish I'd held off until HTC had really sorted these problems out (they still haven't) but now I've done it there's no going back (unless I want to send the phone back to HTC for them to flash it to the original configuration or risk voiding the warranty if I do it myself).

Thats where I got mine from and yes those programs are still there, as mentioned already, some are improved.
Further to the suggestion anoano made about backing up, make sure your backup software is up to date enough to be able to restore the files you need to a newer OS. Some older versions have problems with restoring to a different OS than that used to create the backup. Check the backup software makers website if in doubt.
most cabs are universal among WM5,6 and 6.1. if they weren't then the description, filename or faq would mention if it was only for a certain version of WM
Thanks guys. This forum is the best!
Flying Kiwi, you're now two for two with me I wouldn't have known about the GPS issue if not for this forum. What GPS performance issues do you mean? gps works but it can be slow at times whether starting up,talking with satellites, etc. most of the gps issues are either applications issues or the radio

The ones that are also detailed in this forum, both in this thread *Hopeless* GPS after 6.1 Update? and elsewhere. This thread covers it quite well (apart from the reference to quick GPS being the culprit even though a radio change makes a big difference).

I think the first step is to get them to even acknowledge it as an issue. Let us know what HTC say to you about it (or the carrier if it's a carrier provided device). Just mention exactly what you've told us here that you're considering using the WM 6.1 update but that you have read online about major problems with GPS performance afterwards.

Please help, why pocket e-sword menu for book, chapter, and verse are squeeze in mostly new ROMs dated 2009.
This program was work perfectly in earlier ROM.
Any solution?
Same issue
I've had this same issue with the shrunk toolbar icons and misalignment of some of the controls. I'm not sure what the solution is.
One more
I've been using pocket e-sword since ages (dell x50v, Hermes, Kaiser, Raphael) and this is the first phone which has trouble displaying it. Actually my original 1.90.405.1 Raphael ROM did show it correctly, the trouble came with the official 5.05.401.1 upgrade in February.
I can confirm that EnergyROM 2.0 41609 also suffers, though e-sword was one of the first things I tried on it :-(
Maybe we should also bug Rick Meyers to try to see the cause of the problem. Hopefully all new WM phones, not just HTCs will be effected, so the pressure might increase. He upgraded the program when the new VGA PDAs came out.... The best Bible program in my opinion!
I sent him this bug report:
[greetings...] This February I upgraded my VGA WM6.1 HTC Touch Pro to a new ROM version, and e-sword appears garbled. As I've been searching for a solution to this problem I'm starting to realize the amount of people being effected, anybody with a newer HTC phone: VGA, WVGA alike :-( While we are trying to find a solution, I can imagine it might be a very little change in your program which could fix the problem... Maybe not...
The icons shrunk to quarter size, forms squeezed to half width (I'd gladly send screenshots, let me know if they would help). I'm still trying to use the program, but it's almost impossible. Maybe there's an easy fix. I'd guess it has to do with the screen metrics the OS reports to e-sword and the way e-sword then uses these values. People also think it could be related to .Net 3.5, but even if I force my PDA to use 2.0 it doesn't seem to fix. [greetings...]

I submitted the problem twice through the website with no reply. Sounds like he's got to be well aware of it by now.
I've got some commercial software that works ok, but it just doesn't function as well. Also, there aren't as many commentaries available.
I've been looking around for a solution to this problem as well. I have a Sprint Touch Pro; it works when I use the original ROM that came on the device, but on any other ROM from any kitchen that I've tried (including WM 6.5) this problem exists where the program seems to think it is on a QVGA device,. I've gone through the registry looking for the possibility that something has the wrong resolution encoded there, but I've not been successful.
There is a config file for the Pocket e-Sword itself; perhaps on VGA devices it sets a value in this file (for those cases where it works)? I'd rather not go back to the stock ROM at this point, so perhaps someone else can look at this file (\Program Files\Pocket e-Sword\Pocket e-Sword.config) to see if there is anything related to resolution there when it is displaying correctly?
I've emailed Rick Myers through their web site also, and like the others I've heard nothing unfortunately so far.
Confirmed
I can also confirm this on elite RC3 ROM for the Fuze.
Thanks for bringing this up, Im running the NRG Rom which is great but having the same issue. Esword working properly would make make the Fuze the best phone I have ever had.

I agree, the config file is just for storing personal settings. What we need is a response from RM. I've sent bug reports in the past and never had replies, which is a shame!
I'm glad someone mentioned that forcing .net 2 doesn't help I was about to try that!
Here are the ROMs I've tried that e-s has these problems with:

Elite ROM RC4
Shep's ROM 21222
Shep's ROM 21232
I haven't found a modern ROM that works as yet but if I do I'll let everyone know.

e-word display problem
Hello,
I wanted to communicate you only briefly, that i contacted Rick and he work on the problem with the display.
Bye,
Tom
Great new to hear Rick is working on the problem.
Hopefully we get as well an update for the pocket e-Sword (the desktop version just launched a new version recently)
A new version has been released!
It solves almost all problems, the only thing left (at least on my Raphael) is that the bible text is WAY too large, even with the smallest font size selected. I've contacted Rick about it, hopefully he'll come up with something.

Not tested it yet as I'm at work on a Mac but hopefully all is well now!
Thanks Rick! (If you're reading this?)
Update: Having now tested it on my Touch Pro running WM6.5, I can confirm that everything that was teeny tiny, is now as it should be - top marks! That said, the text size is abnormally large... hopefully Rick gets wind of this bug and fixes soon otherwise people will be reading over my shoulder on the train - maybe that's not such a bad thing!?
New version works on Touch Pro2
Hi all
I am using the new (VGA) version on my Touch Pro2 and it seems to work well. A couple of times it's not been able to open the bible and other resources but a soft reset solves this.
Cheers

Oh man.. you beat me. Will try a little later. Gotta make a backup 1st.
I have less work then you ;D As my ROM is nearly finished.
You think its possible to get the 6.5 Smooth Scrolling into 6.1? Thats what my main goal is at this point.
I think that the Touch FLO does the job well. Doesn't it?
Finally I finished this ROM. Download in #1 post.
Any feedback?
just a bit surprised that any one wants to use winmo 6.1.
For me its like using win 3.x instead of win7- just my point of view ;p
any way congrats on this one.
I'll probably flash this on to my phone tonight. I'm using the AT&T Tilt 2, and the problem I had with the stock ROM was that Touch Flo 3D was sluggish and music on both the HTC Audio Manager and MicroFi Nitrogen would skip and generally become unplayable if the phone reception was interrupted (on a subway, for example).
I flashed my phone to the Deep Shining ROM last night, which is cool, but still kinda slow, plus, PocketScrobbler keeps giving me a time server mismatch error which prevents me from recording my plays onto last.fm, which is really important for me. Finally, the DeepShining ROM uses a different physical keyboard layout than the one of the AT&T phones, so some of the keys don't work correctly (@ key becomes 1, for example). I never had the audio problems or last.fm problems on my LG Incite phone (running 6.1 and later, a cooked 6.5 ROM), so I'd like to give this a try.
What functionality will I lose with 6.1? Will Microsoft MyPhone and the Winmo app store still work? How about touchscreen responsiveness? That's really all I care about. Most other third party apps I use are 6.1 compatible.

You can download MyPhone app cab from http://www.microsoft.com/myphone. Works on WM6.1.
The app store is to download somewhere in microsoft site too, dunno where as I personally don't use it.
I'l flash this weekend and hopefully give you feedback. Hopefullt the speed will be better in fpsce wihout all the 6.5 eyecandy.
Remember to turn off the GfxBoost before running this emulator. It may slow it down.
Aha, I messed something up with the drivers while fixing my remote control problem, so i'll upload a fixed version (this one is a bit unstable, my fault) xD

Hello,
I do use WM6.1. becouse the WM6.5 is too heavy on resources. Even if you turn the ResProxy on dynamic, and disable the push internet the memory usage is high. After some days of use the TP2 slows down and you can't run more then 2 programs or whatever. That's why I switched back. Ach, and this Honeycomb is driving me crazy X_x

I posted a MyPhone cab at the #1 post. Also uploaded a fixed version of the ROM.
This rom is great. Was a bit worried at first because I was getting no service, but then realised that it is set to airplane mode on start up. But everything is running smooth, and boy oh boy is it quick. No lag what so ever, except every now and then as soon as you have come out of an application and then use the slider, but even then, its only for a microsecond.
I thought I was going to miss W6.5, BUT, in all honesty, i think I have become so used to it, and its sluggish behaviour, that now using 6.1 again has no issues. I prefer the start menu to the honey comb, and my fingers and thumb are just the right size for the buttons, so I think I might actually leave it with 6.1. Very nice hybrid rom Jacko. Thank you for this. I am VERY pleased with it.
using it for just 1 hour now but have to say what a relief smooth fast and reliable thanks 6.1 rocks for the rodium

1) Xperia is great in many ways, and you would be investing in something that can last for a long time. Right now, there are no serious draw back to it, at least Physical wise. Its been a long time since it's initial release date, so I would expect Ericsson to have tweaked the structure for its advantage. The best part about the xperia x1 is that its very compatible, and can withstand many different types of ROMS
2) In short, yes, but only through ROMS
3) ROMS are to Operating systems as Phones are to Computers; or its the operating system of the phone. Yes, the operating system gets changed when you flash a ROM to your device (Mobile 6.1 is boring anyways). There are a couple ways of doing this, which you shoudl read up on, but in general, you hardSPL your device from your computer using a program (which allows custom ROMS to be transformed to your device), and then use the computer to run a customRUU, in which the new custom ROM is then transferred to the device. There are other ways of doing this, but you can research that yourself.
4) I recommend either Phoenix 2 or valkyrie 6.0, which are custom ROMS with a ton of tweaks already preloaded in them. Go to the ROM threads for more info.
Thanx So Much For Ur reply,
so u r saying that i can have WinMo 6.5 without any mods or with mods?
is this process hard that i might kill the phone or something? if it is not easy like placing some files on the phone and enjoy, can i backup the whole thing so i can flash it back to the state which i bought it in? cause i'm new to the whole WinMo thing, also will it spoil the warranty? cause if so, i'll stick with mods on the normal WinMo 6.1 for a while.

Yep, you can either find a clean Win 6.5 ROM with nothing pre-loaded into it, or one with stuff pre-loaded into it. The process is easier than I first thought: just hardSPL your device, which an app does for you, and then do the same thing for ROMS, in which you dowload the ROm, hook up your computer to your phone, and launch the customRUU exe that comes with it. A lot of peopel might say its way more complicated, but this is generally it. Search hardSPL in forums.
nice, thanx for these useful info but i guess i'll stick with WinMo 6.1 for a while now, but i messed it up anyway tried to install mobidiv arabic support but it showed letters backwards so i uninstalled it and now i have no words in some certain places can u refer me to a working mobidiv multilangual support?

1- manila is another name for Touch Flo 3D, which is HTC's proprietary GUI. Since it's extremely finger friendly and easy to use, a lot of cooks include it in their ROMs
2 - sync your phone using active sync, there is a check box that will let you use your desktop's internet on your X1 as long as your phone is connected via active sync (sorry for being vague, i don't have AS installed)
3 - most cooked ROMs already have flash support for internet browsers. for stock ROMs, there are cabs around that'll give you flash (again, sorry for being vague, i'd been using cooked ROMs for more than a year and all of them have flash)
4- Manila has the Audio Booster app has EQ settings. You can also try windows media player, nitrogen, coreplayer... there are tons of music apps for WinMo
5- Look for the "audiopara" cab somewhere in the forum
thanx so much for these useful info., so is manila a .cab that could be installed, cuz i'm downloading a 33 MB file that is supposed to install touchflo panel it's a .cab i think.
right now i'm looking for a good audio player, and a divx player, BTW can I play Rmvb video files on the xperia??
regarding the audiopara i searched but all i found was related to roms or certain roms: new roms, and others that i don't rembember the name but the prob. is that I don't know which one will work for my x1, can u help me?
