Teeter Game - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
this game is quality...
I've finished the 32 levels of this game and i want MORE
Is it possible to add new levels to this game??
Are there any better sensor games out there?
Raf

No there are currently no gyro-driven games, but wait a few months-:
Steering a car, flying a plane all with Gsen support , like a mini-WII
Why not taking the advantage , now that you created a thread anyway, to post some scores , just for fun
Rule: Post your score after finishing your FIRST TIME finalized 32 levels.
I got a 21 min 35 sec with +18 attempts in total from which 7 were on a same level

unfortunately i didnt make a note of my score after completion and upgraded to a new ROM....

I don't know if you can add levels, but you can edit (and than distibute) them.
The levels are described in files 1.txt - 32.txt in de windows folder.
You can edit these (e.g. with Total Commander) to edit the levels.
The syntax is straight forward:
"B" with two params determines begin position.
"E" with two params determines end position.
"W" with four params determines walls.
"H" with two params determines holes.
See attached file for a new level (replacing the old 1st level)
Just replace the file in the windows folder (after making a backup of the original of coarse)

coolio
thanks for that

more games
i am not sure about this:
while cooking my ROM i discovered these files belonging the teeter:
\windows\1.txt, 2.txt, 3.txt, etc.
i think these are the chellenges. simple txt files
i think we could examine them and make new challenges.

Like the idea, but how do you replce the .txt file, as they're protected, and you can't edit the propeties.

How about adding a 33.txt, anybody know if that adds another level?

Did you try edit the properties in Total Commander ?
I'm not sure wether I changed them or not. But I was able to replace the file, and play this new level.

Yes - but whenever I change the attributes, it doesn't save and just reverts back to "read only".

mmh.. stange behaviour. In Total Command, you can File->Edit these files and save changes.
Maybe afterwards, you can make changes, at least I can.

Great - I was opening, editing, then saving, which doesn't work.
Going File, edit, save works a treat.
Nice level by the way!

I can confirm that just adding a 33.txt file to the windows directory does NOT add a 33rd level.

Can't see any point in adding more levels when you can alter the levels anyway.
It reminds me of changing the levels on jet Set Willy!!!!

So what are the setting for the later levels? With the uneven floors?
Can we perhaps have 2 instances of teeter
put it in its own folder, /teeter2/ or whatever, copy all the files across from the orginal version.
Then, edit the original files, so we have an all new version of the teeter game.
If someone can group all the needed files, graphics, txt files etc, il work on editing all 32 levels and producing a new version.

Including a line with :
Code:
D 0
Does the trick..

Has anyone got any further with this?
In the mean time I have found a way to have another 32 levels with editing anything.
Lye on your back and hold your diamond above you, screen towards you (of course).
Then try the 32 levels again. It is very difficult.
Pete

best thing would be to make a level-editor for the game
just drag the holes and walls and press export

What is the best way to speed up my phone?

Hello,
I recently purchase a T-Mobile MDA. I love the phone but, it seems that the processor is just plain slow. It takes seconds between application launches. I have hear that I may be able to send my phone to some one who can speed it up memorywise?
My question is is this a good idea and how much does it cost?
As well as is there a way I can get a program to remove what is taking up space in my phones memory, storage and memory?
I am also confused about what a ROM is? Is this something I should consider?
I would appreciate any help, thanks.
You can send the phone and pay for someone else to do the same thing you can do, there is no hardware upgrade only software/registary tweaks.
There are several things you can do to speed things up, they have been discussed here extensively I would suggest doing a search.
Thanks man. Appreciate it.
I think the best way is to overclock...
I tried overclocking but to tell you the truth the best performance gains came from removing software (Anti-Virus) and reg tweaking.
Upgrade to a stable latest ROM could be a big step-up in speed as well, among some other improvements
first, upgrade to the newest ROM version.
second, run Omapclock to overclock your Wizard to a maximum of 260MHz. (240MHz is preferred)
Are there any drawbacks to this omapclock and over clocking mechanism?
eg. loss of memory space/storage space?
reduced battery life + possibly instability depending on how far you go.
I think some big differences need to be explained about speed and responsivness.
Speed is how fast the thing actually runs, responsivness is more what it sounds like this guy wants.
In our case, speed will help us squeeze another 2-3 fps out of our video players, where responsivness will make a program load in 1 or less seconds. Your standard reg tweaks and hacks will help with responsivness. If you have a video file that is kinda skipping or laggy, then overclokcing will help.
You will get little to NO performance difference with a few mhz overclock on your main OS.... I would be suprised if it did anything and not surprised if it slowed down.
In the end, look about the forums, there are MANY hacks and tweaks here posted and on other websites off of google which will help with your responsivness problems.
Some search items to look for:
GDI, animated menus, fat or fat32, cache
Thats off the top of my head, those should make you run pretty fast.
Let's do better
Here goes :
Speedup Display :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE]
Limit=8192
Disable menuanimations :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\GWE\Menu]
AniType=0
Speedup filesystem:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\]
CacheSize=4096
EnableCache=1

they aren't links, they're registry changes
you'll need to find a registry editor to do them
Okay, I have a registry editor, as in memmaid, and resco explorer. Can someone explain how I perform these registry changes?
The are probably better and more detailed explanations but basically:
1) Launch the registry editor
2) Navigate the tree structure to the appropriate part (like using explorer for files)
Then either,
3) Edit the appropriate value (i.e. 'Anitype' is already a variable in \System\GWE\Menu) - select the variable (tap) then enter the corrected value (i.e. from above DWORD value is '6' change to '0')
or
4) Insert a new variable with the precisely correct spelling, then enter the appropriate value(s).
NOTE: You have to enter the correct type of variable, but generally you are adding:
Key (like a new folder)
String Value (has a name and then a 'string' value)
DWORD Value (has a name and 'DWORD' value, usually in dec not hex)
Hope that helps... like i said, there are better explanations out there...
PS you should often have to re-start your device for the changes to take place!

Open the Resco Registry Editor, search the key which is between the [] and adjust the values as suggested above.

You need to install a program that can edit registry and do the following change:
Look up HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change the InitVol value to 0
Thanks a lot for that bit of info... The beeping was beginning to annoy me aswell
brilliant,thank you!

This is free:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/Smartphone/RegEdit/
Guess you have to choose the ARM version at the top in the drop down list.
Didn't get the desktop installer to work.
Copy the .cab over to your device and run it from there.
Well... why not just put it here.
Thanks.....
i downloaded the free trial of resco and that works great. i liked it so much i will buy it for sure. www.resco.net
After changing the value to "0" and pressing done, I exit the program and no longer have the beep when dialing. Once I shut down the phone and reboot, the beep starts up again. Is there a way to make it permanent?
It happened me too, permanent solution - I rewrited file callstart.wav in Windows folder in Audacity program and I used function - silence. It means now when I call my handy play only silence on call start

There is. 1. Use Total Commander (freeware) and copy the file Silent.prof.xml from the folder Application data\Profiles to the folder \Application data.
2. Then rename the copied file name to Normal.prof.xml (or Meeting.prof.xml, if wished, this is the buzzing profile).
3. Then move the new Normal.prof.xml (pr Meeting.prof.xml) back to the folder Application data\Profiles and overwrite old file.
4. After this you'll to have to reconfigure your settings in the normal (and meeting) profile but the beep at call start won't return even if device is restarted.
Got this solution from another S730 forum. Seems the Silent.prof.xml file is the only one in which the beep at call start is disabled.
it's quite a lot easier editing your profile xml file. change the value 'CallStart' to '0' and you're done.
Hey Admins,
perhaps you can make a sticky "Tweaks for HTC Wings" including this tweak.

I tried this to do with the built-in editor of total commander and I even tried downloading and uploading the file.
I haven't had any success. I changed the value to "0" and then I wasn't able to select that profile any more.
I had to start over with "use defaults", then I was able to select and configure that profile again.
What have I done wrong?
I was having the Same issue over here.
Now I solved it thanks to Radiax!
The solution is simple, change your profile again like you did last time, but after saving the file you have to navigate to Properties (File -> 0 More -> 4 Properties) and change the System value to +. Make sure to use the latest version (V2.5, released 24th of April) because this function doesn't work in previous versions.
Hope this'll work for you just like it did for me.
thats it!
Its necessary to set the system-bit!
Many thanks!

Nice! This indeed works a lot easier than the steps I mentioned earlier in this thread.
Latest Total CMD + System bit set
Hi all,
I tried to set my Wings like described above, but I cann´t use the profile anymore after changing something.
I´m doing this with TC 2.5 and the system bit is set.
Any ideas?
edit: in addition - i don´t have a folder profiles in appdata, the xml´s are in windows folder on my wings

Microphone sensivity with audiopara.csv?

So finally we can use our Shift's as a phone!
After using it for some days I get complaints from people I talk to on the phone that they don't hear me very well.
The mic sensivity is a bit too low.
I've spent some hours to try to find what registry entries to change, and I found someone talking about audiogain, but there are no audiogain keys in my registry (I'm using i00's 9/3 ROM).
EDIT: I have also tried the other phone based ROMS out there. Same problem - People complain about not hearing me very well.
I tried to open the audiopara.csv file from windows folder of theShift, but the values here are hard to understand.
I'm wondering if the file audiopara.csv is possible to edit to change the sensivity of the mic?
Or the Audiopara3.csv
The INC_MIC or INT_MIC might be the lines in the Audiopara.csv or Audiopara3.csv files which needs to be edited. But it is hard to understand what to change the values into.
If we can understand how to change these values, my guess is that the microphone sensivity can be changed easily.
The files are write protected so you have to use Totalcommander to copy them back to WM6 after editing. A good way is to copy them to Vista - edit them - rename them to forexample audiopara.new.csv - copy them to WM6 - and then rename them to Audiopara.csv or audiopara3.csv using Total commander. If you just copy them you will get error message (they are write protected).
If someone tries, please post findings here
Hi again everyone!
I am pretty sure it is the Audiopara.csv or Audiopara3.csv files which has to be edited, but I don't know how to edit the values in these files.
I have a strong feeling that the ....MIC lines in this file has to be edited, but I don't know how to change them to raise the mic sensivity.
Here are the three lines in Audiopara.csv which I have a strong feeling that can be edited for a higher mic sensivity level

Are these values HEX values?
Can someone give me some advice?
Any help appreciated!
Are you sure you got differences when trying a new file? There is no entry in the wavedll registry linking to this file.
Thaihugo, Yes Im sure
I tried the Diamond audiopara3 file found in the csv's attachement in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430029
This is what I did:
1. Installed Total Commander for ppc
2. Downloaded the CSV's attachment
3. Renamed the included Audiopara3.csv to audiopara3new.csv in Vista
3. Copied this file over to the Windows directory on the ppc
4. Renamed the file to Audiopara3.csv to overwrite the copy protected file
5. Soft resetted the WM6 side of the shift
By replacing the original audiopara3.csv file with the one from the thread above showed me that the sound volume is greatly increased. I tested it by opening settings ---> Sounds and Notifications ----> Tab: Notifications and playing different sounds.
I have tried this 2 times now and I am certain that the file changes the volume level on the Shifts WM6 side.
I can't explain why this works, but it sure does!
However, I don't know how to increase the microphone sensivity level! I guess editing some of these lines will do the job.
EDIT: I have now tried to make a call with both Audioparafiles (the original and the one I linked to in this thread).
I can confirm that the mic sensivity is also different with the two audiopara3.csv files. The original audiopara3.csv has better sensivity level for the mic than the one in the csv's.
What do you think, Thaihugo?

[Q] 8 bit? Themers Please help

Hi all, i am trying to work on a theme for the Droid X. Can anyone tell me why some of the images open in photoshop incorrectly and more to the point how to fix them?
I cant post a link apparently to the image or a http link since i'm new but
You can view the image here. http:/ / dl.dropbox.com/u/6769503/8bit.jpg
Is there a setting or something I can change in PS to open these correctly?
Thanks for your time.

What is the original file extension? .png?
I had this same problem with some .png files wich had transparency in windows image viewer, but not in photoshop.
My solution was to open it in Paint.net and save it, rewriting the original image. Please be sure to set the transparency correct whilst saving in paint.net.
Download Paint.net
Thanks for the reply, yes it was a PNG, ill try paint.net but i would really like to use Photoshop. I cant understand how it can mess up the transparency and anti alias like that.
Update: Paint.net does indeed open the file correctly... so while i do now have a solution. I would still like to find out why Photoshop (both CS4 & CS5) open it incorrectly ?
Well technically 8 bit pngs are indexed images with a varying amount of colored pixels and then varying amount of transparent and semi transparent pixels so some programs might not like this. I would recommend gimp over ps as its similar but doesn't have this issue.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
that image actually seems correct, can you post an image of the alpha channel? then we will know if photoshop is not reading the file correctly
As one poster said, it's because the images is indexed. If you do Image > Mode > RGB, it will un-index it. I must warn you though, PS is HORRIBLE with indexed images. Use GIMP/Paint.NET to un-index it to save yourself a headache

Ahh but then you lose the 8 bit optimization, even running optpng will not put it back to index png cause it will ossy optimize it. So just use gimp.
Thanks for the replys guys.
Here is an example image.
http:/ / dl.dropbox.com/u/6769503/btn_circle_pressed.png
If you open it in PS, you will see what i mean, changing it to RGB does not change the image. I can open it correctly it Fireworks, then save it without making any changes, and then i am able to open it in Photoshop correctly.
This will do for now in case anyone else runs into this issue. The file size isn't too much bigger this way, so it will work for now.
Thanks again to all that helped.

Here's the image fixed, it was indexed... all I did was open it up with osx Preview and save it again. Or you can try this gimp they all talk about but I think it's overkill to switch to another program just because 1 or 2 images are weird, especially after you paid for your copy of Photoshop.

Thanks for your help. I don't have OSX and i absolutely cannot get used to Gimp. but opening it in adobe fireworks and saving it again right away does the trick, so although it's a pain, its simple to do.
If anyone ever figures out a way to directly open these types of files in Photoshop i'd be glad to know.
Cheers

Yes that works but your removing the indexing. Android uses indexed pngs wherever possible because this saves space and resources, if you changed every file in the android system to rgba your phone would be noticeably slower.
If you change it to rgba and then run optipng on it you'll see it will not index cause it can only lossy optimize, but if you set the mode to index and then optimize it you'll notice then file will be considerably smaller with little or no image quality loss. So in short your removing a vary important optimization feature of the android system.
If your looking for a quick image conversion tool try image magick, this will allow you to write scripts to convert them png24/32 to png8 and back whole folders at a time.
well as we do with video it's always better to work with uncompressed, high res images. Then when everything is done and set in stone we compress and optimize without loosing too much image quality.
If i had to start a theming project I'll probably do the same, convert everything to high res, work on it then compress to a more optimized format.

Yeah for video thats fine, but in theming and specifically for this file gimp will allow you to work on the indexed file and you literally can not tell the difference with the indexed file being atleast 50% smaller. Maybe this would make sense with an image that has alot of quality or is high res but in this instance it a loss of time and added steps when the same could be accomplished with industry standard tools.

[Q] Need Help with Boot Animation

Hi, I need help with a boot animation I am making. I followed all the instructions for it and its still not working. I just get a black screen during boot where the animation was supposed to happen.
This is for my Nexus 1 btw running CM 6.1.1. the boot animation is basically a siege tank from Starcraft 2 setting up and then packing up again.
I placed the zip in /system/media
Each png is 180x135.
Can someone please look at the zip and see what I am doing wrong? it would REAAAAAALLY help.
More than likely your missing an empty line at the end of your desc.txt, common problem.
Added extra line , didn't work
I added the extra line at the end of desc.txt and its still the same result. Ugh.... I have uploaded the new revised zip.
One problem that i had run into is that i was not zipping them in the least compressed format. make sure that you use fast(minimal) compression.
Compression
Yeah, I tried it both ways with WinRar and 7-Zip and made sure it was set to "Store" as the minimal to no compression option.
Here is my suggestion. This is the desc.txt file i use for all mine and it works fine. Change the resolution in the file and try using that one.
Desc
heres the bootanimation.zip with a changed desc.txt file
YES!!!!!!!!!! ^.^

OMG Thank You!!!! It works perfectly now. I don't know what happened before. Now I am going to try to mess with the resolutions to see if I can get everything bigger and cleaner.
Do you by chance know if there is a limit to the size of the boot animation? I made it 8mb because I wanted to keep it lean and fast. If its around 25 mb, will that affect performance?

No Problem. The limit is really the space on your internal memory as far as i know. If you can fit it on there it should be fine. I know for myself with a droid incredible i can go to about 20 megabytes but that is only again due to my limited internal memory. If you were to move some apps to the sd card etc you can probably free more space.
Drop me a PM if you have questions or need a hand anytime.
Just had a look at your desc.txt and the problem was that all the info was on one line instead of seperate lines for each string of info
-RES +FPS
-NUMBER OF PLAYS + NAME OF FILE ( EACH FILE NEEDS ITS OWN LINE AND PLAY COMMAND)
-EMPTY LINE
Hope this helps you shed some light where you had your hiccup.
Also I found its the fps and image size that affects the animation.
If you have a high quality animation (KB/MB not res size) and a high fps it will struggle to render the images and result in sluggish playback. Try optimizing your images to squeeze that little bit extra out.
