Microphone sensivity with audiopara.csv? - Shift Development
So finally we can use our Shift's as a phone!
After using it for some days I get complaints from people I talk to on the phone that they don't hear me very well.
The mic sensivity is a bit too low.
I've spent some hours to try to find what registry entries to change, and I found someone talking about audiogain, but there are no audiogain keys in my registry (I'm using i00's 9/3 ROM).
EDIT: I have also tried the other phone based ROMS out there. Same problem - People complain about not hearing me very well.
I tried to open the audiopara.csv file from windows folder of theShift, but the values here are hard to understand.
I'm wondering if the file audiopara.csv is possible to edit to change the sensivity of the mic?
Or the Audiopara3.csv
The INC_MIC or INT_MIC might be the lines in the Audiopara.csv or Audiopara3.csv files which needs to be edited. But it is hard to understand what to change the values into.
If we can understand how to change these values, my guess is that the microphone sensivity can be changed easily.
The files are write protected so you have to use Totalcommander to copy them back to WM6 after editing. A good way is to copy them to Vista - edit them - rename them to forexample audiopara.new.csv - copy them to WM6 - and then rename them to Audiopara.csv or audiopara3.csv using Total commander. If you just copy them you will get error message (they are write protected).
If someone tries, please post findings here
Hi again everyone!
I am pretty sure it is the Audiopara.csv or Audiopara3.csv files which has to be edited, but I don't know how to edit the values in these files.
I have a strong feeling that the ....MIC lines in this file has to be edited, but I don't know how to change them to raise the mic sensivity.
Here are the three lines in Audiopara.csv which I have a strong feeling that can be edited for a higher mic sensivity level

Are these values HEX values?
Can someone give me some advice?
Any help appreciated!
Are you sure you got differences when trying a new file? There is no entry in the wavedll registry linking to this file.
Thaihugo, Yes Im sure
I tried the Diamond audiopara3 file found in the csv's attachement in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430029
This is what I did:
1. Installed Total Commander for ppc
2. Downloaded the CSV's attachment
3. Renamed the included Audiopara3.csv to audiopara3new.csv in Vista
3. Copied this file over to the Windows directory on the ppc
4. Renamed the file to Audiopara3.csv to overwrite the copy protected file
5. Soft resetted the WM6 side of the shift
By replacing the original audiopara3.csv file with the one from the thread above showed me that the sound volume is greatly increased. I tested it by opening settings ---> Sounds and Notifications ----> Tab: Notifications and playing different sounds.
I have tried this 2 times now and I am certain that the file changes the volume level on the Shifts WM6 side.
I can't explain why this works, but it sure does!
However, I don't know how to increase the microphone sensivity level! I guess editing some of these lines will do the job.
EDIT: I have now tried to make a call with both Audioparafiles (the original and the one I linked to in this thread).
I can confirm that the mic sensivity is also different with the two audiopara3.csv files. The original audiopara3.csv has better sensivity level for the mic than the one in the csv's.
What do you think, Thaihugo?

How to make custom 'Keyboard Sliding Sounds'
Want to create your own keyboard sliding sounds?WM6 comes with three by default, and you can't add custom ones... Or can you? Using a registry editor, nav to: \HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound There are 3 keys: 0,1, and 2. These represent the three current sounds: piano, xylophone, and whatever the third is. Make a copy of one of these and name it 4. Inside 4, set Default to the name for your sound. Then make the In and Out point to the appropriate wav's in the Windows directory. Soft reset your device, then go to Start > Settings > Keyboard Sliding Sounds. Your new entry should appear in the list. Hope it helps!! Ryan
And do you have cool sliding sounds for download. I already searching a long time for cool ones. Regards, Tommy
Yeap Indeed, Can someone please link us some sliding sounds??it would be very helpfull for the p4350 community
Well, after downloading a bunch of free sound FX, I've chopped them up and sped them up/slowed them down... Here's a few to try. I think they're pretty cool, better than the built in ones at least... Ryan
I know ya gotta love the Transformers.
the transformers sounds are really cool. i did speed them uip slightly and lowered the volume
guys...what am I doing wrong here? total commander won't allow me to copy or past in any of the directories? I followed the above steps...but when it comes down to it...I can use the "copy/move" ....but then it won't allow mw to paste. I also can't copy my sound from my mem card to any windows directory. I'm totally new to WM and making mods to my WING...any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
yeah i dont understand how this works either do you guys think you can make more explained instructions thanx

hey DaMyth said: I know ya gotta love the Transformers. Click to expand... Click to collapse i love the sound effects! thanks a lot dude!
Why not just edit the already existing sound effects.. like inside the folder 0 you can edit the in and out entries.. like on my hermes I edited '0' folder in registry to be the transformers sound by editing in with value data of my documets/slider4_in.wav and out with my documents/slider4_out.wave
For those having trouble following this guide, I have one at the HoFo Forums. Should be real easy to follow. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1195063&highlight=Sliding+Sound+Guide
My Take For those of you who are having trouble creating amd understanding the reg file, any easy way to do it is to just edit the ones already listed. That really is just the easiest. Just make sure you copy your wav files into the Windows folder on your device. And for a treat, my sounds; a Lightsaber!

Click to collapse i guess the easiest way is to 1) download the wav-files and rename then to 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav (the number 3 depends on the number of previously installed sounds) 2) edit the registry on your device (as instructed in the 1st post) 3) connect to activesync. 4) explore your device, go to the windows directory (on the device). and then copy the .wav files into the windows directory. 5) restart the device 6) edit sliding sound settings and it should work
WTF...am I doing wrong Try as I might (I am regedit savy!) I still can't get this trick / hack / addon to work. Reg settings seem fine, softreset...nothing...???? WHY Sound files in windows work perfectly as I've run them directly from a command line address so I know they are pointed to correctly within the 2 paths. Any help would be appreciated.
SHORTCUT i first copy original wav to sd. then use the rename trick. right click on original name and select rename. then using the touch screen keyboard press the ctrl key + c. then take the sound u want to use and right click it and select rename. then use touch screen keyboard and press ctrl key + v. now that u have rename ur new sounds with the original name, hightlight both in and out sounds and copy them too the windows folder, overwritting original sound. then go to settings and change sliding keyboardsounds with the original name of one u over written.
are there any programs to allow for slider sounds for the mda???
i have the star trek sounds PM me if you want tehm
PLAzmA's Sliding Sound Pack for TYTN II (Kaiser)
** UPDATED ** PLAzmA's Sliding Sound Pack for TYTN II (Kaiser) and windows mobile phones with slide out keyboards *Note: only use the NUMBERED CAB files to install if you are using a TYTN II Phone or if you have the standard HTC Sliding sound system built into your rom. If however on phones like the HTC Wizard where no sliding sound is currently present, install the SlidingSound.cab file, and then launch the program and assign the files manually. The Numbered CAB files will not work for the older phone method. List Of WAV FILES USED: 0 : Wind Chimes 1 : Piano 2 : Xylophone 3 : Futurama Bender 4 : Might Boosh 5 : Startrek TOS 6 : Dalek 7 : Cash Register 8 : Electricity 9 : Electric Motor 10: Hal 2001 11: POP METHOD 1: TO INSTALL NEW HTC PHONES LIKE KAISER BY CAB FILES: This is really easy pick one of the numbered install files from "Kaiser - Modern Phones CAB Install Files.rar", you can either install the complete pack or just one of the sounds, however as it must have a constant number sequence in the registry, its programmed to replace the 3 base sounds in every pack. This is to ensure that the pack works correctly despite possible older mods. This means if you remove a pack it will also take the 3 base sounds with it, however at any time you want to go back run the htc base sounds pack, make sure you first uninstall the previous pack completely and the run the base pack install cab. *Note: above numbered cab method only for newer phones with htc slide service like the kaiser, DONOT install onto older phones like wizard as this will not work see the next method. METHOD 2: TO INSTALL BY ADD ON SLIDINGSOUND.CAB METHOD TO OLDER PHONES: Install cab file and run sliding sound program, turn on slide detect service and assign wav files manually, refer to the list above for the appropriate numbers, there are two files to select from a simple "SlideSound.cab" file which just has a basic pop noise, additional sounds will need to be install manually, or to install the program and sounds all in one go, install the "SlideSound - All Sounds.cab" *Note: above cab method is only for phones without the htc sliding sounds program built into your rom and only required on older phones like the herms, wizard etc.. Funny. I installed the Startrek Communicator sound alone. Real nice.
Rapidshare link down???
Hi: Thanks for posting this! Sorry for the dumb question. Do I copy just the wav files to Windows, or the reg files also? If not, where do I need to place the reg files (I want to install all sounds)? I placed the All Sounds file in My Documents, and clicked on it, it opened reg editor, but did not seem to apply changes, as they are still not visible under sliding sounds. Thanks so much for the help.
when i try to open the all sliding sounds.reg i get the message "The specified file is not a registry script" please advise
To import registry file you need phm reg edit. PHM Registry Editor http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/ Try installing this and then open the file again

Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Do I maybe need to have all the reg files on phone, or is it enough to use all sounds only? Thanks again!

hi all, Any chance of uploading it elsewhere other than rapishare or megaupload? Preferably mediafire or yourfilehost? Thanks ya!
Uninstall? I have uninstalled this after I tried to make it work on my X1 (but failed) using the second option, and I am presented with an error at startup that it could not find slidesound.exe. I have checked the registry and cannot find anything in there. Any ideas?? Thanks
Worked fantastically on my Tilt 2. I love the Dalek one
Teeter Game
Hi, this game is quality... I've finished the 32 levels of this game and i want MORE Is it possible to add new levels to this game?? Are there any better sensor games out there? Raf
No there are currently no gyro-driven games, but wait a few months-: Steering a car, flying a plane all with Gsen support , like a mini-WII Why not taking the advantage , now that you created a thread anyway, to post some scores , just for fun Rule: Post your score after finishing your FIRST TIME finalized 32 levels. I got a 21 min 35 sec with +18 attempts in total from which 7 were on a same level
unfortunately i didnt make a note of my score after completion and upgraded to a new ROM....

Raf Click to expand... Click to collapse I don't know if you can add levels, but you can edit (and than distibute) them. The levels are described in files 1.txt - 32.txt in de windows folder. You can edit these (e.g. with Total Commander) to edit the levels. The syntax is straight forward: "B" with two params determines begin position. "E" with two params determines end position. "W" with four params determines walls. "H" with two params determines holes. See attached file for a new level (replacing the old 1st level) Just replace the file in the windows folder (after making a backup of the original of coarse)
coolio thanks for that
more games i am not sure about this: while cooking my ROM i discovered these files belonging the teeter: \windows\1.txt, 2.txt, 3.txt, etc. i think these are the chellenges. simple txt files i think we could examine them and make new challenges.

Like the idea, but how do you replce the .txt file, as they're protected, and you can't edit the propeties.
How about adding a 33.txt, anybody know if that adds another level?

Yes - but whenever I change the attributes, it doesn't save and just reverts back to "read only".

Great - I was opening, editing, then saving, which doesn't work. Going File, edit, save works a treat. Nice level by the way!

Can't see any point in adding more levels when you can alter the levels anyway. It reminds me of changing the levels on jet Set Willy!!!!
So what are the setting for the later levels? With the uneven floors? Can we perhaps have 2 instances of teeter put it in its own folder, /teeter2/ or whatever, copy all the files across from the orginal version. Then, edit the original files, so we have an all new version of the teeter game. If someone can group all the needed files, graphics, txt files etc, il work on editing all 32 levels and producing a new version.

Has anyone got any further with this? In the mean time I have found a way to have another 32 levels with editing anything. Lye on your back and hold your diamond above you, screen towards you (of course). Then try the 32 levels again. It is very difficult. Pete
best thing would be to make a level-editor for the game just drag the holes and walls and press export
audiopara.csv files
I am having difficulties trying to apply the audiopara.csv files on forum to make my htc diamond ring louder. it tells me to replace the audiopara.csv files in the windows directory. 1) they are all read only files and cannot be changed? 2) even when I found installers to change the files for me, when i applied those settings, there is no difference in loudness at all! 3) I also found a file called audiopara3.csv?? to conclude, how do i change the settings to make my phone ringer louder as I most of the time cant hear it ringing at all!!
XPERIA Ringtone Volume
Hi all, I searched the forum and didn't find someone else asking the same question, so if someone else did then I did a bad job searching the forum. I just got my XPERIA yesterday. I am not facing problems with it yet, maybe in some time I will but as always SE will find solutions for the problems (hopefully). My main concern here is the ringing tone volume, does anyone else find it low even when the tone is put to the max. I also got the SE C905 for my other line, and it's the same with all my SE phones the ringing tone volume is good leave the volume 5 and the sound is heard pretty well when the phone is not near me. The reason I want the sound louder is because a lot of time my phone is on my desk and I am talking to someone in the office, or even when I'm home I leave it in my bedroom and go to the kitchen, the volume in the X1 won't help much. I read on another forum one of the users playing with something in the registry to make the ringing tone louder but didn't say how. Can anyone help me out here?? Thanks in advance.
having the same problem.. the volume is really low when at max... was hoping someone possibly finding a solution to this
try this it fixed the problem for me
right, same problem here... I tried to tweak the \Windows\audiopara.csv file for sound volumes but is REALLY different from the touch or raphael
patterns said: try this it fixed the problem for me Click to expand... Click to collapse does this break the volume control?
Hey guys, I actually have the opposite problem. When the system volume on my X1i is FULL, it seems to 'clip' really bad and the sound is distorted. I therefore my leave my volume at 80% max, and sometimes it still sounds 'tinny' and distorted. I think this is because the speaker is quite crap, as my HTC Universal had much better sound. billybob, I would just double check that while you're holding the phone, you aren't covering the speaker hole with your hand. It is VERY easy to do so, and this HUGELY affects the quality/volume of the speaker. In case you were unaware, the speaker is on the bottom left side of the phone. Interested to hear what others think about this, but I can tell you that I do NOT have low volume for sure. If it's your ringtones only, then you might want to look into editing the .wav/.mp3 file and increasing the levels that way. I always make my own ringtones, and I find that sometimes I need to increase the dB levels a bit more than normal.
theres already been a couple of threads on this, you do need to edit the correct audiopara file, have a search for audiopara on my username
patterns I downloaded and installed the HTCVolume.cab file on my X1. Did a soft reset too. Now what next? I dont see any new program or any change in the volume? Am i missing something?
I did the same, nothing's there. I will try searching for the audiopara solution maybe it will fix the problem.

I dont think its a general volume problem. It seems the Xperia is playing custom mp3 ringtones quieter than the standard ringtones that came with the device.
It doesn't have to do with the ringtones because I am using my own ringtone and on my X1 it's low whereas on my other SE C905 it's normal. Now for those of you who didn't solve this yet, here's what I did and it worked for me thanks to our friend fards. P.S.: I am not responsible for any defection in your phone using my method. You should do this on your own responsability. Download fards's AudioPara3_XC_Vodafone_V5.zip which I reuploaded or if you have the original one which I have you will have to download AudioPara3_XC.zip. It's the same file but one for vodafone and the other for original ones that are not locked to one company which is my case. Now go to your X1 to Windows folder, you have either AudioPara3_XC_xxx.csv if your phone id locked to one company or AudioPara3_XC.csv if you have an unlocked phone. If you can't see these files press menu them show all files to view them. Now copy this csv file and put it somewhere on your desktop as a backup copy. Unzip the csv file in some folder on your computer. Now download one of these files, which will allow you to copy the csv file to your mobile. Normal file explorer will not allow you to overwrite the csv file on the phone. http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm or direct cab file http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab After you install the software go to your Xperia open the software, navigate to Windows folder got the the AudioPara3_XC file and remove the read only option for the file. Now put your downloaded csv file to your phone (not to Windows folder, you can't paste it there). Using the total commander, navigate to where you copied the new csv file, then copy/move this file, and put the destination \Windows\ then soft reset your phone and you're done. BTW after resetting the phone, the voice control interface changed, I don't know if it's due to the new csv but it kinda looks cool . Thank you fards for the help
ehajj thanks for the help. Just a few queries before I go ahead. 1) Will restoring the original AudioPara3_XC_xxx.csv file to its original destination will make the phone as it was before or its a irreversible process? 2) Does this increase the speaker volume (for tones) or only the earpiece volume? Thanks for your prompt help!
Hi Moleculez, 1) The purpose of backing up the original file is to be able to restore the phone volume to its original state, so yes it's a reversible process. 2) I noticed an increase in the speaker volume and that's what I wanted in first place. For the earpiece I don't know yet as I just got my X1 on saturday afternoon so I am still Xperiencing with it.
I'm Having a slight problem, here, wonder if anyone can help. I'm using total commander, trying to remove the read-only attribute from the .csv files in my x1/windows folder. I touch and hold the file, and select properties, then clear the read-only checkbox, check the change checkbox, and click now. Upon reselecting the.csv file, and opening properties, it is still read-only. Am i doing something wrong? should i soft reset at this point to change the attribute? Any help much appreciated, as i'd love my X1 to be a bit louder. By the way, its a generic UK X1. (CarphoneWarehouse 02 unlocked/unbranded)

Click to collapse why are you trying to remove the read-only status of a file in rom? Overwrite the file with the new one, the old one will not be deleted, the operating system will just use the new one instead. If you don't like it delete or rename the new file and after a soft reset the original file will be restored.

try to use a custom mp3 as ringer and you will know what we're talking about
