Where to buy replacement motherboard for kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Yup, just like the title says.
And before anyone yells at me, YES i did the search button but nothing...
I checked ebay, and for some reason no one has a motherboard... and I don't want to risk it with buying one with a cracked screen that might have a messed motherboard.
HTC wants to charge me $352.26 for a new motherboard AND lcd... when only the motherboard wasn't working (last i checked, the lcd was working... unless THEY did something at the repair)

I've seen this before in another thread. I believe the consensus was that there was no place to buy them except risking eBay.

Damn...
So how much do you think HTC would charge to repair the motherboard separately from the LCD ?

Where to buy HTC mainboards?

I've recently gotten into the hobby of buying broken phones and reselling them for just enough more to cover my costs. (that's why i'm calling it a hobby).
However, I recently purchased a pretty smashed up Tilt - it needed a new LCD and an entirely new housing.
After investing that $140, I've come to find that the mainboard is probably bad, as it wont power on.
Rather than toss my money in the crapper, I want to see about replacing the mainboard, but cant find ANYONE who sells them online...perhaps I'm searching by the wrong terms, but I'm no web n00b...and I'm coming up blank.
Does anyone know of a reputable website whereby I can purchase items like the mainboard for the Tilt? Does anyone who reads these forums WORK for HTC, and like to strike a deal?
Please, PM me if you know anyone that sells these hard-to-find HTC parts...
Thanks!!
- M
I have thousands of HTC Parts, unfortunately I dont have any of the Tilt Boards, but let me know if you need anything else and I will have a look.
Do you have a website thru which you sell them? I am actually in need of either an LCD for an 8525 with the gold ribbon cable, or the flex cable for an 8525 for use with an LCD with the black ribbon cable (stupid of HTC to make 2 different configurations for the same model, dont you think?)

HTC Himalaya mainboard, GSM version?
I have one with water damage to the mainboard and a problematic dock port, would be a shame to scrap it, the LCD and digitizer both work, and when the battery is charged it works perfectly, apart from when it comes to syncing (problematic port) (and if you don't just have HTC parts, I am also looking for a mainboard for a nokia 6300 and an LCD / Digitizer for an HP Ipaq 2210 / 2215 lol)
pm me if you have any of this stuff please
The mini usb has failed on my Trinity. Do I need a new main board? If so do you have one?

For sale: MDA Vario III (Kaiser) with faulty touchscreen

I managed to splash some water on my Kaiser a couple of weeks ago and that stopped the touchscreen from responding. I sent it away to have the digitizer replaced but that didn't solve it, so the problem is somewhere else. The repair shop suggested that the motherboard would need replacing to get the touchscreen to work again. Apart from that the phone is in excellent condition and working fine, but Opera is no fun without the touchscreen so I've decided to put it on eBay to raise some funds to go towards another one of HTC's fine devices:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160293897460
I thought I'd mention it here since it might be very useful as a spare/test unit for a ROM chef or other developer who would probably use it remotely anyway. I put a very low start price on the listing so it might be a bargain.
(I hope it's okay to post this kind of thing. I couldn't find anything suggesting otherwise in the rules. I apologize profusely if it isn't welcome!)
hi i know that your answer will be a "hell, no!" but i will ask you, would you sell me the front cam of your varioIII? thank you so much
hell, no!
But seriously, I think the phone probably has more value in one piece so I'm not planning to break it up.
it's ok i just asked good luck.
Re
Why selling it at once? You can just replace the touch screen and digitizer for 40 dollars!!! Just because a shop guy said it cant be fixed it is for sale?
I put my tytn in the washingmachine, and everything works as well now, only the display is damaged. I will replace this myself. Will keep you informed!

Well, they did actually try replacing the digitizer and it didn't work, so it seems the problem is somewhere else.
I'd actually really like to buy this for my Mrs.

[Q] Will a Desire mainboard fit a Nexus One???

So, after replacing my flex due to a broken power button, I seem to have broken the LCD-connection on the mainboard itself. The screen is going black, so that is definately the problem and I will need to replace the mainboard itself (not the flex)... Couldn't find it anywhere for less then 200 dollars, but i have found a mainboard for a HTC Desire thats cheap. I know they are very similair, with pretty much the same hardware.
The question is, will it fit the Nexus one and work??
From pictures they sure look the same, but there might be issues on the software side with the different buttons/trackball.
Even if it works, if you have a AWS N1, you'll lose 3G after the swap.
Edit: When looking for a flex board, I saw some sellers claim the same board worked for both phones.
Thanks, but what if i flash a Nexus one ROM onto the Desire motherboard, wont that fix the capacitive/hardware button problem??
And i think my Nexus is from Hong Kong, for some reason the manuals are in chinese even though the phone is in english..

Why dont you just buy a new phhone? Nexus is 150$ Or just upgrade to other phone, nexus is not worth spending more money on.
You're right, the thing is that i live in the UK, so in September 2011 i go and buy the nexus for 200 pounds brand new with a 16gb memory card etc... after two months of usage the power button broke down, so i bought a new flex, which caused me to break the lcd connector. So, since i havent used it that much i don't really want to throw it away, since it is still brand new... and the motherboard i found is very cheap. It's cheaper than the flex or AMOLED... So i might as well.

[Q] HTC One M8 No Backlight after screen replacement !

Hi there,
Here is my story :
First of all, i bought a HTC One M8, one day was very rainy and my HTC M8 was in my pocket, i was very wet and the humidity goes on my M8.
Ok after that arriving home, i saw my screen black, no more backlight, then the backlight screen flashed i was thinking it come back but no never came back.
I sent my HTC (under warranty) to HTC.
They said it's not under warranty cause it's water damage...
I was very angry about that, cause my phone was just in my pocket.. They propose me to pay 600 USD to repair the phone, i said no i don't want to pay the cost of the phone just to repair it.
They send it back to me, i ordered a replacement screen on a very known website for 100 USD with all the tools, i changed it, charged the phone and, started the phone, and backlight is always black, i can see the picture through sun but the backlight don't work !!
Can someone explain me where is the Backlight on this phone ?? Is it a mainboard problem ?? It can't be the screen...
What can cause no backlight on a M8 screen ? i already replaced the screen but seems to be the same.... what do you guys think ?

anything could be wrong with a water damaged phone it could be motherboard it could be the socket the screen plugs into.
you could have messed up installing the replacement ?
any way it goes your most likely going to need another phone

[Q] Should I buy a broken One m7

I saw an ad for a broken One m7 and the guy says he dropped it and the screen is dead, so I was thinking I could replace the screen and make a buck. but before I do I wanted to ask a question... He says when he starts the phone some lights go on and the screen stays black, on my m7 it vibrates and starts up without any lights. could this be a sign that there is more damage than just the screen and digitizer?
Thanks

Honestly, if you are asking questions like this you should not buy a broken phone. Only buy if you are sure you can repair it and know what is damaged exactly.
The M7 can be found for less than 250$ New on ebay btw. not sure you'll make any profit after paying for the phone, the replacement parts and the time to fix it. There are also some risks when opening that phone, many member here sucessfully repaired the M7 themselves and other damaged the phone when opening it, even if they did it very delicately.
Imo doesn't worth it.
But still worth to buy one for 250$ if you want to have one for yourself.

If I buy it it'll be for $60, that's why it's so tempting. but I will definitely put a lot of thought into it before I jump on it.
Remember if you are going to repair it properly, you'd probably want to buy a screen assembly + housing. Its almost impossible not to damage the phone when you open it.

60$ for a broken phone + 50$ for a screen assy + 15$ for a new housing (almost always damaged when opening like said) = 125$ + parts shipping, So lets say 150$ total and you are still not 100% sure it will work and won't have other issue like the infamous bad (purple) camera (25$)" Phone is used and will probably need a new battery, another 15-20$.
So at least 150$ + your time and still not sure it will work (might not be a broken screen, maybe a broken mother board), you might damage other parts when attempting to repair like the tiny flex cables. add an extra 75$ and you can get a brand new and carrier unlocked M7.
I'm glad I asked before going a head with it, thanks guys.
