Selective HSDPA? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Is there a way to keep my phone in 3G mode (for better battery performance), and only have it use hsdpa when I launch Opera?
It sounds like I'd need a 3rd party app, like this one:
Bandswitch http://www.commmgrpro.com/jsp/main_frame.jsf;jsessionid=54F763E92D5D28795D338EBE05B7C936
But it looks more like a control panel, than an intelligent auto-switch based on application launch.

[Q] What to expect in Gingerbread?

Hi,
What are the major changes in Gingerbread when compared with Froyo? What are the changes one can notice?
I've noticed that the App Drawer is now 4x4 based like the Galaxy S, except it is vertical based and you slide like an iPhone App Drawer, except vertically, the app drawer is also organized by the tabs below the drawer. (All Apps, Frequent, Downloaded)
A new mirror app.
Most widgets have a little visual change.
The OS is faster, more stable.
The notification bar now has two tabs, one for notifications, another one for Quick Settings, which allows you to toggle Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS etc.
The Battery Use screen is changed to a more detailed look (Added a graph).
Startup time is faster. (From Cold Boot)
In the Gallery, pinch zooming is now buttery smooth, not laggy anymore.
The weather animations now has sound effects added to them. You can turn the sound effects off.
Smoother weather animations.
That's all I've found.

The update notification states that "it will not clear any content on the phone".
Are all your contacts, call logs, sms messages etc still there after the OTA update?
Or do i have to backup my stuff to somewhere. . ? Hmm..

you don't have to back anything up. it updates everything without any deletion of apps/contacts
I would have really wished for there to be a sound profile option in the new quick setting feature but well, would just have to use the quick setting application.
In addition, the Camera app has a little change.
Now you can switch cameras without accessing in the hidden menu.
Video Recording now adds Stereo Recording, which uses the Dual Microphone technology to record sounds in Stereo, and it seems that the video recording in HD is now smoother, I think it is around 28 FPS to 30 FPS.
In Photo Taking mode, The menu has Auto Enhance added, which removes more noises, but keeping the photo in high quality.
Is there any change to the standard HTC keyboard? i.e. still have arrow keys on the right (in landscape mode), long-press on every key for alternate characters...

Mind taking some screenshots of the camera app and posting a video that demonstrates the Stereo Recording?
I wanna see how the Video Audio Quality is now as currently it sounds like a tin can when recording.
Thanks!

any chance of a motion recorder?

It seems like a lot of the tasker apps have more potential to build off gear motions than is currently utilised. Does it seem viable to record gear motions to set as triggers for different apps like tasker and atooma?

When i had the Gear and the Galaxy S4 (using Atooma app on both devices) i had assigned phone actions to watch movement triggers. It was very easy to do and did not require tasker, root or custom ROM. For example shaking the phone vertically enabled/disabled the 4G data connection.

I can do those simple ones with atooma, but its basically just vertical and horizontal shake. The stock wakeup gives the impression more complex motions can be mapped, like I'd like to set it up so that when I scratch my ear my phone fakes a phonecall.

Edge Lighting Notifications - Lost Cause?

Hi all,
I'm starting to give up hope on making the Edge Lighting work as a notification with AOD Always On (and not installing third-party apps).
I just want to go into Samsung's Edge Lighting Menu, select Google's Messages app, or Facebook Messenger, or Instagram, create a color, and have it work when the screen is off and AOD is on. Why is this so difficult?
Am I missing something? Why would Samsung create the Edge Lighting to work ONLY with their Messages app and not a single other app on the Play Store?
Does anyone know of a decent fix? I tried the Glimpse trick, but it only Edge Lights up one color (whatever is chosen for Glimpse), and the little popup at the top of the AOD is a Glimpse Icon, not the real notification (ex. "App Icon: Sender: Message Content"). I think this would work great, and very simply, as it's essentially just forcing a screen wake for selected apps, which is what Edge needs to work, apparently, but it's own popup bubble and Edge color is useless right now.
And I've tried the "Edge Lighting Fix For All Apps" App, but it's still pretty convoluted for setup and actually spells out each app in the notification popup (ex. "Instagram: Sender: Message Content") rather than the IG Icon and then the content. It's the best we've got right now, but it's still sad Samsung can't make this work by now (how many phones with edge screens have there been now?)
Anyone have other workarounds for this? Thanks in advance, it's driving me nuts.:silly:
I know you don't want to use a 3rd party app, but the aodNotify app will do just what you're looking for and it is developed from a user right here on XDA. It's got a low profile so battery life isn't affected much at all. You can get it on the play store. I highly recommend it as it doesn't look like Samsung is gonna do anything.

I've tried that, but it's using a knockoff version of edge light that looks like junk, to be blunt. Sammy's is smoother and I want that to be the Edge Light in use.
Also, no customizing app colors.
I use it with the Edge lighting plus app, it works well for me. Good luck on your quest!
not every app works with edge notif's, matter of fact, it seems that very few do. go to the galaxy store and download "good lock", it allows you to configure the edge notif's and its directly from samsung. Not third party. It also allows you to customize the s**t out of the statusbar, bottom icons etc etc. It gives root access to mods that no other app has access to
Apparently, my Edge Lighting on my S10 works for 2 of the 3 apps I selected: Whatsapp, Samsung Messages work fine, Samsung Email (v6.1.12) does not show Edge Lighting on my S10. I enables all notifications for Samsung Email, but not luck. Pretty annoying. Anyone experiencing this too?

Question Power saver settings?

I want to disable power drain notifications for some apps, like the music player. Did not find a way to customize this.
Another thing: it looks like it has an adaptive power saver but it's more aggresive than the Android stock one. It sometimes takes 1 day or until I open the messaging app to receive messages. Is there a custom setting somewhere that I'm missing? I've just enabled the adaptive power save that I also have on my Pixel, which worked ok. No 'extreme power saving' features have been activated.
Which system mode are you using? The most extreme is the ultra durable mode. Advanced is the customisable mode. I'm using ultra durable (with some changes), adaptive battery and even a 3rd party app called Naptime and have no problems receiving messages.
I was using the standard (dynamic) mode, then switched to advanced and disabled all of the options. Now, after the latest system update, it works better, but was wondering is there anything that I can do. WhatsApp and Signal both took hours to sync with the phone screen turned off.
Oh so you need apps to sync in the background? I thought you don't receive SMS messages lol. If you already disabled "force restriction to background sync" in advanced mode's settings, check if WhatsApp and Signal are optimised in apps & notifications>special app access>battery optimization

native applock & network speed metter

Hello! Is there a way to turn on native app lock, network speed meter without root?
or any rom from any country that already brings it by default?
thanks
Thats the sad part, its not available.
Hence using 3rd party app "INTERNET SPEED METER"
also, Galaxy Max Hz app has that function.
