Hi to all
I have a telephon plan with a flat internet connection but only with a 3G signal. When the signal is gprs (roaming) I had to pay.
Is it possible to permit the connection only with the 3G signal?
p.s.
sorry for my english.. :-(

Hi all,
Did anyone get 3G (HSDPA / UMTS should be both supported on these networks!) to work on the Telfort / KPN (Dutch) network?
It seems with the default network settings it does not pick up 3G, only GPRS / EDGE?
Regards,
Nika.
I've got no problem using both 3g and HSDPA. The connection is called GPRS though, maybe that's the confusing part. When using them, there are symbols 3G and H in the top of the screen. Good luck
I am sure you know this, but nevertheless: if you do not take out a data subscription, KPN/Telfort have disabled UMTS; you will then ONLY get gprs.

You also need to request a new UMTS enabled simcard.
check you rom version, if it does not depend on your provider
So far 3G for works for me only with Radio rom at least 1.27.12.17 and OS >= 1.56.406.5.
Have run Radio rom 1.27.12.11 for a long time and no 3G connection @ all regardless of data or voice.
With radio 1.27.12.17 some calls on 3G were possible, but still more outages then connections.
Now I tried the french OS (1.56.406.5) together with radio 1.27.12.11 and for 4 hours 3G is stable. This is not very mature, but it is a tendency that it is not the radio rom only that trobles the 3G connections.
@all: Thanks for the tips, yes, UMTS/HSDPA needed to be enabled (remotely) on the SIM (even though I had enabled Max Online on my subscription).
@dauphinas365: Does this unstable 3G connection mean that you are unreachable when 3G is connected (which is the case on my Kaiser)?
How can I check what kind of connection (GPRS / UMTS) has been setup?
Mobile: Tytn II (Kaiser)
Provider: Telfort + Surf&Mail
3G connect with KPN on my phone.
And gsm connect wiht Telfort on my phone.
So i have:
3G KPN NL TELFORT NL. :S

Yeah, same here. But officially you should be able to be called during 3G, but in my case the caller gets a busy tone...
Can someone reach you when you're on 3G?

Havn't tried it yet.
Despite I`m in an area where HSDPA is provided my Kaiser shows only a 3g not a H - but when I go under data connection the H is shown !
On my Tytn I had a ROM where the H was shwon without a data connection !
Does anyone know how to solve this ???
Thanks
myrin
You dont want it to be fixed. The H should only show when there is data transferring and the cell you are in is using HSDPA to send packets to your device.
Yes but at some german Kaisers you can see the H but mine doesn`t show it ???
need to enable it
i used kaiser tweak...see the stickies in this forum.

You said it shows it when there is data flow. That is the correct behaviour.
no, because others do have the H before connecting to the data connection - I assume it is a matter of ROM
There are reg tweaks where you can change the icon for "3g" to "h" but that doesn't mean that you are actually in a HSDPA enabled cell - it just means that you are in a 3g service area.
Personally I prefer having 3g, and it changing when I am getting H throughput.
Yes I know and I`m in a HSDPA cell but it is only shown when I`m connected ....not before - before there is just the 3G

As mentioned above by unwired4.. this is the default behaviour!!!
Forgive me for cross-posting, BUT: it seems this is a REAL big issue for many users...
We're looking for a way (=tool/app) to disable GPRS data only in order to avoid roaming data connection costs (from 0,50 up to 2,00 euros/MB) while keeping the chance to connect to GSM networks (if needed) for roaming calls.
If anyone will pop out with a working solution for that issue, there's already a number of us ready to donate in order to contribute/reward the author(s)!

Why not just force it to 3G only?

You're right (I was editing my original message), but it would be desirable to keep the chance to connect to GSM networks (if needed) for roaming calls otherwise we loose connection and voice calls functionality in areas serviced by TIM with which H3G has a roaming agreement...
Should not be a big issue to make something like that, however...
Why wouldn't HSDPA be available while roaming? I have HSDPA here while roaming as well... :/

It very much depends on operators' agreements!
In Italy H3G has a "national" roaming agreement with TIM: whenever an H3G customer is out of H3G signal coverge, the phone is allowed to switch to the TIM network, BUT the only data connection available is GPRS, not UMTS/HSDPA!!!

That's the first time I think GPRS has been referenced to as 'incredible speed'
Point taken, though.

Guys,
the "incredible speed" is related to how fast the bill grows, not to the GPRS data connection speed...!
UP!.......
guys,
i just transferred from orange to o2. i have no 3g now?? i used networ wizrad and got the settings from o2 but still no joy
i have HK official wwe rom and there is no 3g option in comm manager either
can anyone help?
did you try running connections setup? or adding the 3g to comm manager with tf3d config to see if it is on?
yes i ran connections setup and o2 sent me the config.
i cant fiund the wsay to add 3g to comm manager in td3 flo adv??
yes 3g is enabled, just doesnt work or never active even in good signal areas, nothing! i either have H or E next to my reception

H? Oh dear... does someone wana tell him :/
I've been curious about this too. O2 doesn't have a 3G license, which is why they used the Jap technology i-mode (which as we know flopped). So where is the iPhone's 3G coming from? I think it's from '3', but I'm not 100%. So if you're not in a '3' coverage area I would guess this is why you don't reception on this band.

LOL (H) = HSPDA
HSPDA=7.5Mbps Approx making it a shed load faster than 3G
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is a 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, which allows networks based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) to have higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Current HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of 1.8, 3.6, 7.2 and 14.4 Mbit/s. Further speed increases are available with HSPA+, which provides speeds of up to 42 Mbit/s downlink.

im sorry, i LOL'd when i read that.
I didn't even notice the H in his post LOL. Strange how he either gets GPRS or HSDPA though, and never any 3G.
yes this is strange - well at least it explains it. i put my 3 sim in and i get 3g straight away, oh well i can connect to internet anyhow so.... all is good
thanks for help guys
I found out Zeus v6.39 (V20N) is having a bad network connections. When I change from 3G to 2G or 2G to 3G, the network connection totally break and need wait for a long time for reconnection. At that moment I can't use my phone to call anyone. Does anyone share the same situation?

I think that's still due to the N version. Did you already try to simply flash the v20s version and root it yourself? Shouldnt have those problems
