So. As you guys prolly heard there is this other edition with diamond touch out in the asian countries, just with a mat back, and more smoother cornors, and without that diamond looking cover. In my opinion the diamond is special and uniq, and looks cooler. Just wanted to hear what you think about it

I am going to switch my hermes into something new, I have the S730, HTC Touch, Touch Dual and Kaiser in my hands right now, and I just cant decide!!
and if that wasn't enough, I also have the Cruise to choose as well.
But which one? I really like the Touch models (leaning toward the Htc Touch and not the Dual) because of their size, they are perfect to just have in your pocket. However, GPS and 3G would be nice! and that has the Kaiser and the Cruise. So there it is just a matter of keyboard and fat or no keyboard and slim.
what should I choose? i don't use the keyboard that much, but hey, it is there waiting for me and it is alot faster typing with the keyboard, but on the other hand, slim is nice too..
what would you have choosen?
Kaiser can do a lot more that the oter phones.
But all of them have 1 problem. VIDEO DRIVERS
Why would you buy from HTC again after this latest debacle? Look at the new imates or the Eten phones.

first of all we don't have eten or Imates in sweden (as far as I know), second I would like to have the Iphone, which is also not availible in sweden, third, my company has settled for htc as their product of choice. I am aware of the driver problems, but not sure how that inflect with a business phone as kaiser for example.
cause this affects 3d and video performance which is not my first priority (although it certainly is nice to watch videos and play some games once in a while)

Somebody tell me if I'm wrong here but aren't iMates just re-branded HTC units?? AFIAK...
The only thing they change is the start-up screen and a few app's!!
In fact, the last ROM update I had from them for my iMate JasJam (Wizard) still had the HTC boot screen on it.
looking for any input on if you think it is worth it to go from the telus p4000 (titan) to the diamond that will be launching with telus soon. i think the specs for the diamond coming to telus are a bit different (gsm vs cdma) than what i have seen aroud the internet, so i was hoping for some feedback.
still so MSD slot, but overwhelmingly YES. 23MB free -> 200MB free means YES. Wait for a pro if you want the keyboard, but YES. The CDMA version even gets a 50% (900->1340mah) bigger battery, albeit for a (10.7->13.9mm) thickness increase. Its 2mm taller and 3mm thicker than GSM.
Yea I am thinking of going to the Diamond (my P4000 is dying) but should I wait for the Touch Pro (Raphael)? I like the keyboard, but how good is the onscreen keyboard on the diamond? I see that it is way more slim without the keyboard... Is not having the clickwheel annoying? other than the keyboard, is there going to be any other differences between the Diamond and the Raphael? ( I am on Telus here in Canada). Help please!
Ok.. just got it and LOVE the VGA screen! Soo sharp! I have one issue soo far... the sound quality is not as good as the Touch. Its a bit muffled. Arrgg!! Too bad!!!!!
Wonderfull, next?
DIAMOND FTW!!! changed my opinion abt PDA phones. last time, it was just nokia phones all the way. now its htc all the way
if you are looking for a multimedia top performance kit then you
should of done a better research before buying.
However if you want a sleek slim pda phone then diamond
is a good phone.

Hey mates,
I dont know the actuall Phones on the market , so i thought you guys can maybe help me out.
I am looking for a good sucessor to my Kaiser. I really love this phone but its already 2 years old now and well my phone looks like somekind of trash .
Also i got massive problems in the last time , dunno why. I am using the Ultimate X2 roms at the moment. But it seems that i sometimes cannot open my contacts or run programs.
So i like to get a new phone cause my phone contract is going to run out also.
I was thinking about the X2 but it seems to be tooooo pricie :/.
Do you guys have any nice suggestions what phone i should get ? A must have is a qwertz keyboard
Thanks
HTC
Device database is good to get the full specs
TP2 if outa price range then the Raphael is still an extremely good phone.
Re: Kaiser hard-reset or flash another ROM...
Raphael can be had for about £160 on eBay, simply unlock it if required & use whatever network provider takes your fancy.
Most other keyboard options are going to be pricey but if your thinking of starting a contract soon you might find a reasonable deal !
You could keep the Kaiser, reflash it with a stable ROM & buy & fit a new complete housing for it !
The Verizon Droid comes out on the 6th in the US. Not sure if you are looking to stick with an HTC device or Windows Mobile. It's only going to be $199 rather than the TP2 which is as much as $350. It's got a similar processor and google maps turn-by-turn directions. And....it has a directional pad, if you can't live without that.
Check it out: http://phones.verizonwireless.com/motorola/droid/
Touch pro 2 is the best successor. I dont think the droid fits the title of "successor" when talking about the kaiser. The touch pro2 retains the tilting screen, windows mobile operating system, and of course the slide out qwerty.
I've been offered a Diamond 2 for pretty cheap and I was wondering what the guys thought about updating?
is it really worth the expense for a removable card and a little bigger screen...or is there more to it?
Is this all there is?
what do you think?
Thanks
mike
The Diamond 2 offers two main advantages:
1. style. It has a bigger screen, and looks better. This is ofcourse depending on your own taste
2. Software. The Diamond 2 has, in my opinion, a much better touchflo interface.
Ofcourse 1 can only be achieved by buying the device. But 2 can also be achieved by a custom ROM. I personally use Gen.Y's D2 ROM. It basically just the diamond rom with the diamond 2 interface installed: very nice. If you want to update read this for a guide. Also wait a few days, Gen.Y will release R5.1 on january 5.
He also makes roms based on the new HTC HD2 Sense interface: Gen.Y's D2X ROM. I've tried it: its definitly a nice interface upgrade but it's kind of laggy on the diamond and uses more RAM. If you want it you should buy a real HD2: it's hardware is very good and reviews say it's super-fast (it has a 1Ghz CPU as opposed to the +-500Mhz of the Diamond, Diamond2 etc.).
To round up: I wouldn't do it, just install a custom rom for the new interface and save the money for a real upgrade, like the HD2.
Thanks for the thoughts, i originally got the TD cos of it's size to power ratio, i recn that the HD/2 is pushing the size thing for me.
I can put the TD in an aluminium belt case and it's not really in the way. the HD may be thou....I need to do more homework first
I have a diamond1, my hubby has a diamond2, and as i really like the looks and size of diamond1 alot more, i also have to admit that the diamond2 is a much more up to date device, it's way faster (processor), has no storage limitations (card slot) and is alot less damage sensitive (diamond1 screen is full of scratches).
Yes, the diamond2 is bigger, but the bigger screen really has advantages (surfing, calender use, input etc..) and i must admit too that TF3D works alot smoother outta the box with diamond2.
Tx to this site i managed to upgrade my diamond1 to a higher standard so it still suits my needs, but i keep bumping in to memory problems (RAM and storage) every now and then, where the diamond2 has no problems at all.
Diamond2 runs even smoother with the newer cooked ROMS (even the ones with all the Leo stuff in it).
I would definitaly choose the diamond2 above the diamond1, but plz don't tell my hubby

The processor of the diamond2 and diamond is 100% the same... The only speed differences can be because of the RAM or interface...
The card slot I'll give you, but speed? A diamond with a basic stripped rom and manilla 2.1 is at least as fast as a stock diamond2, if not faster.
I prefer Diamond II than Diamond I which has
+ Better battery
+ Expansion card slot
+ Bigger screen
+ Reservered ( I haven't got it yet )
I'll take Diamond II when I have chance.
hmmm.....can i justify the expense it's in really good nic and my beloved 3700 is looking a bit worse for wear ...
I love my Diamond but it has it's disadvantages like a shortage of RAM, although the Diamond II does have more RAM it wouldn't make sense for me personally to upgrade to a Diamond II (both have basically the same hardware). I'm due for an upgrade next week and thought that it would be best to upgrade to the Touch HD2 but since it's not available in my country yet I opted to go for the Touch Pro 2 since it has some nice features that the Diamond II does not have... and offcourse a nice big slide out keyboard! The fact that the Diamond II has a 5mp camera and the Touch Pro 2 only a 3.2mp one doesn't matter much to me as well since I barely use it in any case.
It's difficult to add more to what has already been said for the advantages of the Diamond 2 over the Diamond 1.
Recap:
• way better camera
• way better screen
• way better memory (Ram & Rom)
• better battery consumption
• better construction build
• despite the CPU's are identical in specs. Diamond 2 CPU is been rated faster then original diamond
Bonus:
• if you have a great price it's a no brainier as the original Diamond can only compete if lighter weight and smaller size was a priority.
If it had a 3.5mm Jack, heck I think I would trade in my HD for it....

You're right, i didn't know the processor was the same (only different last digit in specs and rated just a tinytiny bit faster), and i'm comparing them running both on WM6.5 with Sense 2.5, that's not fair towards the good ol' diamond1
I've been thinking about what to upgrade to myself actually. I'm not really willing to pay for a phone offline- so have to restrict myself to the upgrade options available on T-Mobile UK.
The obvious choice would be the HD2 but just thinking it is just that too big, especially going from a Diamond (?)
I dont see the Vario V (HTC Rhodium/TP2) on T-Mobile UK site, anyone if they still do it?
I agree with others that the Diamond2 probably wouldnt be worth it. Saying that, if the price you are getting it at is really cheap then it could be an option; you could always sell off your Diamond. But I'm definitely not about to 'waste' my upgrade on the Diamond2
With the latest ROMs around at the moment, the Diamond barely manages to cope (WM 6.5.x with Sense 2.5 for example).
dtechnology is correct
its just down to personal choice to be fair
