I finally got access to my company's Exchange Server and configured activesync. Everything is working fine (mails, calendar, ...), except that I can't find anywhere the "Find Online" option for finding contacts on the company's GAL. The old powertoy from microsoft works fine, but I was really looking for the solution integrated to pocket outlook.
I'm using standard WM6 from HTC.. Could someone please help? Even if it's in the form of an updated poutlook.exe (and dlls)? Or registry settings for adding the Find Online option to poutlook?? Help, please!!
Thanks in advance...

The problem was on the server side. After checking Activesync log files, I've found out the server version wasn't matching Exchange 2K3SP2. Further investigation with company's IT, and the problem was fixed. Company Directory now shows on poutlook's contact manager and I can finally search on GAL..
It should be at the point where you are typing a recipient, then under the menu you should see Check Name. I think the next screen should give you a choice to choose between checking the name against your own contact list or you should see the option that says Find Online from there. (My memory was going off a smartphone that was menu based, but hopefully it should be very similar.)

Thanks for the prompt reply! But it's not a case where I can't find an option on a menu. I simply don't have it (Find Online) even after a "can't find match for XXXXX". I'm probably missing a registry setting or there's some mis-configuration on my company's Exchange Server.
Interesting part is, that running the WM6 device emulator on my PC doesn't show that option either...

In the Contacts app, under Menu --> Company Directory. Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks for the prompt reply. But as I stated above, it's not a case of not knowing about a menu option. I simply don't have them. I need help finding the registry key / poutlook version or whichever Exchange Server configuration needed to make the Find Online / Company Directory option appear on the menu...
Thanks again though...

Does any one know if there is a way to use your WM6 device on a secured WPA, TKIP, PEAP network when you have your own user name and password to access regular pc.
I'm trying to use my TILT at work and everytime i try to log in it tells me that i need "personal certificate" to positively identify me.
Would it possible to retreive my personal certificate from my work loptop and transfering it somehow to my Tilt?
I really need some help with that, i've been trying this forever.
THanks in advnace

Did you try this? It sounds like a similar issue but I've never seen some of the screens they are mentioning for login credentials. I tried the registry key but still get the message that I need a personal certificate.
I'm going to try Odyssey's Access client, which is now Juniper I guess.
Juniper Odyssey Access Client works just fine with the Tilt/WM6.
I was able to connect to my company's PEAP/MS-CHAP-V2 network.
If you do a google search with keywords "p12imprt.exe pocketpc" you will find a smal program that allows you to import personal certificates in your Windows mobile.
I hope this helps.
thanks guys, i'll try all the suggestions and'll let you know
I've set up a RADIUS auth server w/WPA-TKIP @ home.... not too hard to config PEAP. I'll try it out this evening and report back the details.
careful if you try the odyssey client, maybe wait to see seattle's results. Odyssey really grabs a hold of the registry. Do an image backup before installing.
FYI...I checked that thread, and checked my registry, and I have that setting they suggest. I am getting the personal certificate error anyway.
The import certificate sounds interesting. Actually I had been told a while ago I needed to do that, and I thought I saw a way natively on my Tilt to do that, but I have no idea how to get the certificate to import. I asked our admins at my office about that, and they had no clue.
Any thoughts on how/where to get teh certificate to import? (Someone said it woudl be on my laptop that I login with, but don't know whre it is there either).
Why not just export your personal certificate from the PC and run it on the handheld, the first time you try to enroll it will ask for credentials.
Works for me anyway.

Nybom...if you can give me any hints on how to do that it would be great. That was my point in my last statements re: the laptop - I don't know how to export it nor does my admins here.
I use Windows Vista at work. WMDC has a feature that allows you to import various certificates from your corporate network. If you are using ActiveSync on XP, I would suggest looking at options there. I don’t have ActiveSync right now or I would look. I have successfully connected my Tilt to our corporate wireless, which is WPA, AES, PEAP. Hope this helps.
Exporting Personal Certificates
Export a Certificate
To export a certificate, follow these steps:
1. From the computer where the certificate was installed, start Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Start>Run>MMC
2. Add the Certificates snap-in to the console.(Ctrl M) When you are prompted, click My user account as the account to be managed.
3. In the MMC console, double-click Certificates – Current User, double-click Personal, and then click Certificates.
4. In the right pane, right-click the certificate that you want to export, point to All Tasks, and then click Export.
5. When the Certificate Export Wizard starts, click Next.
6. On the Export Private Key page, click Yes, export the private key.
The private key is required for the encrypted messages to be read from the computer where the key will be imported.
7. On the Export File Format page, leave the default settings, and then click Next.
8. On the Password page, type password for the private key.
9. On the File to Export page, type the path and the name for the exported certificate file, and then click Next. (save it to your storage card for future use)
The file name has a .pfx extension. This file is the .pfx file that is imported to other computers.
10. Click Finish.
The export certificate file is saved with the name that you specified and a .pfx extension.
To import, use File Explorer, find where you saved it to, and click on it. It will automatically place it in the correct certificate store.
Thank you so much. I was so excited.
But alas, I apparently do not have any certificates on my laptop. ( I say that because when I DClick on Personal, it says "There are no items to show in this view" ). My method of authentication to the wireless here is via AD, and past discussions everyone thought it would have pushed a cert to my PC, but that seems to not be the case.
Although there are a lot of other certificates, a couple of which are issued by my company, in the Trusted Root Certificate Authorities/Certificates folder. Should I try one of them?

Yes, absolutely. However, when you ADD the cert in the MMC, it will have to be as a computer>local computer account rather than a personal account. Choose the Base64 option to save as a .CER. Import to your device the same way. You may also want to explore the Intermediate Certificate Authority folder on the MMC for more that relate to your company. Doesn't hurt to grab all that you think relate to your company. Mine ended up having 2 Roots and 4 Intermediates.
Thanks!
Next issue: I have no export private keys page come up, and wehn I get to the final page, keys is set to NO.
In case it makes any difference, my laptop is Windows XP Pro.
I wonder if it could be because somethign is 'locked down' by admins here.

I also have the certificate pushed out from the AD. But if you do not have any personal certificates listed in the personal tab I don't know what to do.
In my case I went to "Internet options", tab "Content", chose "Certificates", in tab "Personal" marked the certificate with my AD account name and chose "Export". Then "Next", "Next", "Next"... all without changing anything and then saving the file.

but how do you import it in windows mobile, aboviously it's not the same way as xp, i got my company's .cer file now how do i install in on my tilt. Also i couldn't find any personal certificates even thouh i use my desk pc and my work loptop.
thanks
ok i installing a certificate on a WM devisce is easy just click on the cert once you transfer it to the phone.
BUt can someone telll me why i don't have my own personal certificate on my work pc and loptop. I log in to both using the same network username and pass with the company's domain selected from the drop down menu.
thanks
I can't answer your question since I've seen the same thing on both of my PCs. One had a personal cert, the other did not. I don't think a personal cert. is necessary. If you have the proper root(s) and intermediates, you should get a log on screen when it tries to connect. Once you login the first time, your set.

Go to "Start->Messaging->Menu (Right Soft Key)->Options"
Then tap on "Google Mail" account.
Then tap on "Download size settings"
Finally select "Message download limit=Headers only"
Look into the settings properly before tagging as "horrible" the windows mobile email client.
You do not need any other client.
And you do not need to open two different threads for the same reason:

Again, you do not check the settings:
1) Go to "Start->Messaging->Menu (Right Soft Key)->Options"
Then tap on "Google Mail" account.
Then tap on "Send/Receive Schedule"
Select "Download messages:All messages"
and you will download all of them, if you want to do this silly thing. Or you can choose "Today's messages, From the past 3 days, etc.."
2) To see the pictures after you download the body of an email, you need to tap on "Internet picture blocked" (good thing by default) and tap on "Download Interent Pictures".
What is so horrible about the above?
I concur.
Many spam emails use pictures with specific code to know when you have opened an email and get your IP address and do nasty things to you. not such a major problem as WM viruses are still fairly rare at the moment, but certainly best not to automatically download them.
Give the built in apps a good try, and make sure that it is set up correctly to do what you want. If in the end it does not do what you want (and remember that it will never do everything that gmail does through your PC's browser) then look around for another one. But what is the point in paying for third party apps with all the possible trouble they could cause when it is so much simpler to learn how to use things properly in the first place.
the built in app is pretty good as far as email clients go. Not all singing and dancing like flexmail (tried it, very good, but far more complex than it needs to be, IMO), but it does the basics well as long as it is set up correctly. and being that the majority of major email providers around the world are already in it's database, even that is not so hard now.
Although, it seems you did miss the download settings while setting up the account, so it defaulted to only emails from the last 3 days (which is the default setting)
And never let the words "But My nokia used to do this" ever pass your lips!
final note, GMail.....YAY, it's free. But dammit, why can't i delete ****....i don't want every email i've ever got for god's sake!! (although maybe that's just the mobile version!!)
thank you for your long answer. Ill set it up and try for a few days. I would never pay for a program, keygens exist! hehe. Thank you again.
BTW, is there an application which can show me all the headers of an email?
I haven't found one yet-

dude....not cool in this forum
There is a java gmail app which works great on WM6 devices, just go to gmail.com on your phone and you will get a download link.
Guys,
With my tilt and TF2D if I had more than 4 e-mail accounts then I would get a down arrow below the 4th account in the accounts tab. So when I wanted to get to the other accounts I could scroll down.
Now with my Fuze (Both AT&T ROM and HTC Rom) I see 2 problems. First when I add the 5th account to the accounts list I get an error in Manilla.exe. the account gets added but I cannot select it from the accounts tab. I have to go to the tab, tap inbox and then pull down the list of accounts at the top and select the new account.
The second is that TF3D doesn't seam to support the down arrow for more then 4 accounts. Based on the error I am getting when I add the 5th and 6th accounts it seams that the code is still there and trying to work but fails.
Anyone got a fix for this? Any help would be great!
Hate to say this, but try a different e-mail client? Something like Flexmail for instance is superior to poutlook in every way, with the only downside (to it and everything else out there) being that it's not integrated with TF3D. With that many e-mail accounts you'll probably want something more advanced anyway.

I know I can use another client I was just hoping that some of these other great minds on here could point me in the right direction to make the OEM tools work. I know they did in TF2D and I'm sure there is a way to get the same result from TF3D.
Anyone?! It would be greatly appreciated.
4 mail accounts only???
hey all i have a cab (wont say from where) that i think will correct this issue. It is a cab for the EPIX but i think it might do the trick.
4th email fix
HOPE THIS WORKS! i looked around and i see where and how to upload files. Here you go and i hope this works.
Thanks justpe8709,
Can you also provide the link to the thread so that I can read more about what this cab does? That way I can see if this is what I need without having to clean up my phone from another cab install that didn't uninstall correctly.
Thanks!
well i got this .cab from a ummmmm non public site. so this is the only thing I have for you. If you want to message me your # i can call you and let you know more info on it.
Why would google, make the market place not send a message out when a app is not updated. You would think that would be a simple thing to setup. just does a check when you open up market place.
Don't know if this is what your talking about but the program "aTrackDog" works perfectly for checking for updated versions of all the apps/games on your phone.
thats works great, thanks.
Ok I have one more question, With this being a google phone, a "connected" phone, why is there not a option for homepage in the contact? Or even a second email spot?

if you go into your contacts scroll down and hit "more info" then , you can add as many email addresses as you like to your contact...there's even a drop down menu so you can pick "work" "home", etc.
Ok I did it on my PC, and did not have that option. Its good to know I can do it there for a extra email address.

Actually that functionality exists in the full desktop Gmail contacts manager as well. You can expand 'More Information' to get a Notes and Other field. Add extra email addresses by clickin the 'add' link.
Does anyone know how to sync with additional folders on an exchange account? Right now the outlook account that I have connected only downloads messages in my inbox.
I would like it to download items in my junk e-mail box and other specific folders from my exchange account. I was able to do this in WM 6.1, but WM 6.5 does not have the same options, at least from what I have been able to find. If anyone has figured this out please let me know.
Go to the Inbox of your exchange account and hit Menu, then Tools then Manage Folders. The folders checked here (bolded) will sync from your account.
Thanks, for your reply. I did not realize that you have to turn off TouchFlo 3D in order to get to the tools menu to manage your folders, that's why I couldn't find it.
Thanks for your help!

You don't, you just have to scroll down on the menu to see that item. If yu look on the right side of the menu that pops out there is a small line when it's not the whole menu.
