Is it possible to watch youtube videos on my tilt? i go to youtube.com and click on a vid and it says file type invalid and it's showing real player as the program to play the video, i downloaded TCPMP, went through all the instructions to get it set up correctly, but still the same thing, is real player the default program? if so how do i change that? so windows media or TCPMP is the correct one? thanks
Either get vTap (google it) or HTC Streaming Media. It has been posted here before very recently.

Couldn't i just make TCPMP or windows media player the default player? would that work? if so were do i make either one the default player, i couldn't find it in either program.
The HTC Streaming Media proggy will fix your problem. vTap is a self-contained app that pulls videos off google and youtube. Take yer pick.
just go to www.ytpocket.com it works the best out of all the you tube solutions ive tried
you just need tcpmp and flash bundle. Search on this forum. I've installed them and working youtube and all other flash base website playing fine on my tilt. Just browse through youtube, click on the video, tcpmp just opened by itself and play the video.
Thanks for the help, i've give these ideas a shot.
Tap http://m.youtube.com/ in your mobile browser. Vids will automatically launch in Streaming Media.
Anyone have a link to HTC Streaming Media download? i did a search but didn't see it.

that didn't work for me. Vtap however does work.
ive noticed that no matter what you install youtube will not work on some tilts
now i have the htc media player, i went to youtube.com, which takes me to m.youtube.com and i click on a video to see and it says failed to find network, it brings up the htc player now instead of the real player, but i get the same results and cant watch video, do i need to do anything w/the htc media player settings?

may be this link might help
ok, i've tried eveything mentioned here and some things mentioned on other threads and i still cant get youtube to work, the only thing i haven't tried is vtap and the only reason why is because when i go to install it on my TILT, i get an error that says " the file Vtap_pcc" can not be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets can not be found.
I deleted it from my tilt and tried it again, i made sure it was from the tilt selection on the vtap site, but still same error, Anyone able to help me with this, i've been working on this issue going on 3 days now.
also the error i'm getting when i go to youtube and click on a video link is "failed to conect to network" it opens up the streaming media player, and after about 5-10 seconds i get that error and it closes out.
did you find the HTC streaming media cab? That's what fixed it for me. vtap also works quite good.
I don't know if you tried the link I put above. Also look at this one: LINK
i used ytpocket on my wizard and now my kaiser. you can stream or download. works perfectly
I have HTC Streaming Media pre-installed on my Vario. I have since installed RealPlayer.
Now when I click on a YouTube video in IE nothing happens.
If I do it in Opera it tries to load the video in RealPlayer and fails with "Request failed".
How can I make the videos load in the HTC Player instead?
Ok I've got a tilt, so I've got the HTC Media player installed and I can now access m.youtube.com with no problems. However I would like to have access to the classic youtube.com however when I click a video it takes me to an error page saying to install flash player etc etc
What's the deal? Did I miss something? I thought the HTC player would handle standard youtube as well
Where am I going wrong? I find the m.youtube site OK. I click on a video and it prepares to play in windows media player. Then up pops a message saying 'cannot find network'
What do i need to do to access utube or indeed any strwming media such as BBC news clips?
I've tried to stream audio and Youtube but when I click the player starts up and I get the error message "network not available". This is with 2 different players. When I attempt to stream audio coreplayer starts up and for YouTube the HTC Stream player starts up. Any ideas as to why to why I'm getting this error message?
Well I've gotten YouTube to stream but still getting the same error message when attempting to stream radio/audio.
Anyone? Anyone?

hi, I have wmplayer ver.10, and I am trying to play streaming video.
video is coded with "Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile"
I have only sound, no video
how can I play video coded with that codec
I also tryed with Coreplayer, also no result
reminding, this is streaming video and I have good connection using WiFi

so I have been using xda for some years now flashing roms and getting a lot of info from the good developers and other people like myself would like to say thanks and sorry if i am posting this info in the wrong place i normally stay quiet but since i got my chromecat i have been trying to stream my video's from my desktop and came across this ----file:///c:/ ---- and worked great but no sound. i never give up so what i found out for myself it is much simpler than that and just make chrome browser your default player and there you have it just click play on what ever video you want to stream and you have good quality pic and sound. Thank you xda if someone else found this out then nevermind ijust wanted to give what little back that i could.

most of my videos play sound but all videos play maybe if one of you talented dev could explain maybe its a certain codec or something if any one can find the answer to that please let me know thanks.
I successfully set up Plex Media Server on all of my computers. However, I cannot get ANY videos to play on Chrome regardless of format (tried mp4, avi, mkv). Whenever I try to play a video either thru Plex or thru the Chrome browser, all I get is a black box with the controls. Nothing plays.
I had that problem and from that screen I tried a shot in the dark and right clicked and clicked open video in new tab... And it started playing! Don't know why but it worked.

I tried that based on a suggestion I found during research but I am not offered that option, even when right clicking and choosing "Open with".
All the movies I try to play in the browser just start downloading.
Chrome doesn't support all video formats, check what all it supports and use those.

Chrome only plays MP4 by default.
I have installed and tried using PLEX, but my videos always play choppy on the CC, is there a way I could directly send the URL to the CC? Ya know, make it play like YouTube or something...?
For those using Plex and having problem, I've been using SubSonic for a while and have no issues.

It's true that Chrome's built-in player only plays mp4 video files.
What you should do for other file types is install VLC, along with the VLC browser plugins. The VLC plugin for Mozilla/Chrome will play most video file types, but there are some issues:
1. You may have to disable other conflicting plugins like Quicktime, because it's darn near impossible to tell Chrome which plugin has priority to play a particular MIME type or file type. Type about: plugins into the Chrome address bar to access the plugins list.
2. Chrome insists on downloading avi files instead of playing them, so you have to trick it: rename the avi file as mpeg and let the VLC plugin automatically determine the correct file type from the header. You can rename it back to avi after you play it in Chrome.
3. There doesn't seem to be any way to select the correct audio track in files with multiple audio tracks, and it always seems to default to the wrong one in mkv files.

chrome now appears to play mkv files although it will not cast them correctly.

I do not see how to use the VLC Plugin for Chrome. I unisntalled VLC and installed 2.1.0 and then after I did that I see no option for VLC Plugins in Chrome or a way to export videos from VLC to Chrome. Can you please explain how this plugin works with regards to using it with chromecast?
When you install VLC, you have the option to also install the browser plugins. Chrome shares the Mozilla plugin. After installation, you will find the VLC plugin in the list of Chrome plugins (enter About: plugins on the address bar). It's enabled by default, and you can expand the details to see what MIME types it supports. However you may see other plugins in the list which are also enabled and also support the same MIME types (e.g., Quicktime), and there's no way to control which one has precedence other than to disable one of them.
Streaming from Tablet
With Chromecast would I be able to steam a Note 10.1(2014) tablet wirelessly to my TV...thanks

I have re installed Chrome and VLC player, and the VLC plugin does not show up in Chrome when I go to aboutlugins. I do not know why, I definitely installed the Mozilla plugin.
