I have tried either ringo and mring too. Ringo doesn't work, because put a lag beetween the received call and the ring. Often phone ringed when on the other side call was closed. Mring seems to go well. Phone rings after one ring (wm normal lag ) and I don't have had any problem....... so far.
I use original italian rom from HTC 1.37 and I've disabled phone skin using advanced config.
Cheers
I am using Photo Contacts Pro. This comes with Ring Manager, SMS contact rings as well as profiles.
Works well for me.
It looks interesting...
I didn't know that software...
To customize sms, it should be perfect

Your Diamond work well with mRing??
What version? does the mRing initial screen appears normal?
With mRing, mine don't even ring
could it be because of phone skin?

Yes it does. My version is 4.03. The inital screen seems a little bit confused but it seems work well. Try do disable phone skin and try mring again. Disabling phone skin you gain about 10 MB of free ram. If you like the skin that comes with the diamond try to disable it and use S2U2. It's better, lighter, and with a lot of settings.
Cheers
where can i get S2U2?

Hi! Also I have , not one but a lot of issues with the Photo contacts Pro in my Diamond. I really thing that it does not work with that device.
First I installed the last version 5.09 and had a lot of problems (rings, answering the calls, Extended menus of the Today's Plug-in,.....). Wit the older version 5.08 it seems that works a little better, but the Today's plug-in has some very big text, wich make the Today's Screen a real mess.
Best regards!
Simplest One
Use this freeware to add custom ringtones to contacts/ categories etc.
mine had stopped working after a soft reset following changing the registry location to the sd card so am very pleased to have found such a small app that assigns individual tones to contacts, thankyou

Hello,
I've been looking for about a week for a way to assign certain sounds when certain people/categories of people in my contact list send an SMS to me.
The only thing I found so was is for symbianOS (MessageTones).
Do anyone know if something equivalent exist which will run on WM6?
Thanks in advance
photocontacts pro
i use photocontacts pro...... it lets you assign ringtowns smstones by person or category or profile. There may be a free version out there somewhere but im not sure if it has all the functions.

Thanks lots, just what I was looking for
Photo Contacts got a quirk sometimes on my TyTN II that makes SMS tones loop indefinetely. Quite annoying lol. In case anyone here knows of an alternative to add distinctive SMS sounds please post it here.
Anyone?

ringo problem
funny, i tried ringo mobile 1.301 trial version, works good, and after a softreset, when there is a call it wont ring! the sms still rings, just the call wont ring!
anyone experiencing the same issue?
NB: i used it before with my hermes without any issue
heheh it makes me afraid to soft reset now, just installed Ringo Mobile and it works brilliant, but I haven't soft reset yet
Hi,
Has anyone got the s2u2 Slide to Answer feature working?
I've got S2A turned on, but when a call comes in, it looks like S2A and the TouchFlo answer screen are fighting it out as to which one gets control... there is lots of flickering on the display, and it switches back and forth between the S2A and the Touchflo answer screens.
If you press the screen, it seems that the TouchFlo is getting priority, as the Answer or Ignore buttons will work, even if they aren't actually being displayed.
Anyone managed to get this working properly?
I'm using S2U2 version 1.03.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Regards,
Ben

That sounds like fun.
I suppose you can disable TouchFLO 3D, although you probably don't want to do that. You might be able to stop TouchFLO 3D from handling calls with a registry edit, although I doubt it...
I have the same problem. After several tries, I found two solutions. The first one is using AdvanceConfig to disable 'phone skin', after restart, s2u2 works properly. But the dialpad is no longer the diamond style. The second one is to install another dialpad to replace the existing diamond dialpad.
But i really love the existing diamond dialpad, so I gave up the s2u2. hehe, really hope someone can fix this problem.
So can you still utilize all the other S2U2 goodness besides S2A feature? If so, I'd happily turn off S2A and keep all else. Though a proper solution would also be the preference.
yes, other functions work in a good condition

has someone found a solution?
i blocked the touch function of the screen when there is incoming call. So now i use hardkey to pick up the phone. For s2u2, A_C also realized the problem, hope he can fix it in the near furture

I'd like this answer too, i love so much s2a and the other functions but i love the classical tflo dial pad(i'm a little bit confused about all the tweaking and installing out the box apps that may get in conflict with others!)
However i still think that Diamond will be a superphone in one month or two with all the geniuses around here
There is another thread with exactly this issues. If you have managed to block the touch screen and just allow the hard keys, how did you do it?
up up.
Does anyone found a solution? My S2U2 worked great, untill this morning.....Now I have the same problem.
How can help.....
You can keep touchflo3d dial pad with S2U2, just have to edit registry "HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch" make a new Key called "Disable4SpecificApp", and inside this another one called "S2U2", inside this a new string wich "value name" is "classname" and its "value data" is "S2U2"
Disabling the dialer skin on the Diamond made me gain 10MB RAM and made the device much more responsive.
But, it also decreased the visual quality considerably. Default WM phone skin is ugly.
My question is, is there a way to install a skin that looks better and still does not waste much RAM?
I remember trying many dialer skins on my original Touch, but none of them were VGA.
i am interested in a new phone dialer. I installed some dialer in my htc p3300 and run very well, including the smartdialing. it would be possible to install a new phone skin dialer with the old smartdialing to the diamond?, i think the only problem is to find one with smartdialing, vga grafics and videocall.
thank you.
There are dialers with smart dialing, but so far none for VGA.
I'm surprised more people aren't interested in an alternative considering the default dialer takes 10MB RAM for nothing.
also looking for a phone skin that is vga for diamond. i too felt my device runs better with the diamond phone dialer disabled, but would like a different look to the windows version.
many thanks
Looking for subj, too
Wow - 10 mb. Thinks i shall disable mine...
Here, not sure if it helps but skins for standard wm 6 dialer. One looks just like it was made for diamond (remove the $ signs) 4$p$d$a.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=78093&st=450
Removing the diamond dialer will also disable the incoming call screen?
Yup, this disables the incoming call screen too. Would really like a new dialer skin
Where does the 10mb come from?
Graphics? Can we not compress these graphics so when the phone is about to ring, it doesnt have to load up as much graphics etc. Might make it more responsive to incoming calls.
If the 10mb is from extra functionality then i suppose were stuck unless theres another dialer.
Is there a VGA skin for S2u2? i always use to use the incoming call screen from s2u2
So how about disabling the diamond dialer skin, and using a skinned s2u2 incomg call screen? Then im sure theres a standard dial pad skin to look like the diamond.
So vga diamond lookalike s2u2 skin??
I've tried all the phone dialers I found with google... nothing worked so untill HTC makes a good phone dialer with no 3 sec delay I'll stick with the default windows dialer and with a tweak the 3 sec is gone (only with wav files)

could you explain this tweak please? I have tried so many dialer/skin combos for VGA Wing and it drives me nuts that even at XDA there is no great dialer available.
I'm looking for large keypad and something other than black-this, black-that. I've seen the manilla dialer skins but they don't work too well for vga. but still, as for dialer software itself, I too add my name to this list of people still wishing to find an alternative.
There's a .cab file for WM5 wich works on WM6.1 that disables the 3 sec delay only if you use the default dialer ( wich is very ugly and I don't like it) and .wav files.. but I got a problem after that , when ringing the ringtone was very choppy and with interuptions... I did an Hard Reset ... and I'm waiting for a new dialer

Well, I am using video calling quite ...
...
never
Disabling the phone skin also disables being able to raise or lower volume during calls.
that figures , have been trying to figure out how to do that ...
You can remove the HTC Volume Control with this cab here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718080&postcount=7
This will allow you to change in call volume again.
I too am looking for skins for the standard WM6 dialer - the default grey is ugly.
I found this thread with some skins that are perfect, but they're all QVGA...

Has anyone been able to find any VGA skins?

You can do it with Diamond Tweak or Schaps Advanced Config. The Volume control needs the cab linked above.
Pls, do you know any software to lock my Diamond during incoming call?
iPhone have that function, when you get incoming call, you must unlock first and after that you can answer. I nearly always tap the answer or reject button in my pocket while i trying to get my phone out... Can anybody help me?
OMG.......
So many times ... S2U2 (i phone solution with slide to answer), AnswerkeyDisabler, Sensorlock, Touchlock pro, Pocketshield, Inesoft Phone (Default skin for me best solution), .....
As noted, there are several programs available for the Diamond to handle inadvertant call answering. I use PocketShield, works great for me and latest release (2.01.0) has some nice features, including a very well done and functional replacement dialer and for a bonus, reduces program memory by ~8megs.
I made a simple cab from the registry settings that you install to device memory, then soft reset and use any voice recorder (HTC Voice Recorder, VITOAudio Notes, Resco Audio Recorder) to record both sides of the conversation. I have tried it with several Roms, dialers and skins too and it works fine with all these and no adverse affect on normal conversation
Might be worth cooking into a Rom to give 2 side recording as standard.
Tested and working on the following Roms:
SimpleOS Xtralite v2.1, HyperDragon 4th Feb, PDA Corner Ultimate v17, v19 & v20, Anryl's 15/3 6.S rom, AthineOS WWE, WM6.5 betas (HyperDragon and PDA Corner works with HTC Voice Recorder and VITO Audio Notes, rest confirmed with VITO Audio Notes).
Download the 2_Way_Recording cab (rapidshare) *HERE*
EDIT: Made a new cab combining my 2 way recording plus the incall enable edit from pocketnow.com to enable BOTH sides to be recorded clearly from the dialer menu after a call has been established. It does not affect the ability to use a 3rd party app if you want, just gives you extra ease so you dont have to load any new programs up when you are in a call. Install the following cab to device memory, then once a call has been established just goto the dialer menu and select record. It will record in .wav format and save the recording to the Device\My Documents\Notes folder.

I tested on two different roms. The first rom from Anryl's 6.S rom 21179 didn't work. Tried two radios (didn't take note since it didn't work). Was using Resco audio recorder and when in record mode, call comes in, message popped up saying cpu overload.
This morning, I tried on SimpleOS Xtralite v2.1 and with the radio recommended (1.70.18.02), it works. The audio from far end is rather soft during playback.
Congratulations!
Works great for me, ty for sharing this, as i'm sure most of us wouldn't have seen it in the original thread.
Thanks alot mskip
Oh and I'm using an AT&T Tilt with Hyperdragons 02/04/2009 IOLITE Rom with Kaiser 1.65.21.18 Radio. Worked just fine using builtin htc audio recorder and Vito Audio Notes Touch

Tested on Anryl's 15/3 6.S rom after fresh flashing. Works with 1.70.18.02 radio. I only have SMS restored, Resco Explorer, PCMKeyboard and Resco Audio Recorder installed. Didn't get the cpu overload problem. Need to complete my Exchange 2007 Sync and finish installing the rest of the apps again before I test again.
Recording volume is rather soft though, even though volume had been set to maximum, same as for my TyTN II volume.

Great job mskip ! Finally working for me !
ROM AthineOS WWE, RADIO 1.71.09.01 and VITO AUDIO NOTES 1.37
Thanks
Finally got this to work with stock AT&T Tilt
Thanks to everyone involved.
Vito Audio Notes was tricky to figure out. I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times before I got the settings right.
Move the yellow equalizer all the way to the left when recording. Set the microphone gain to high.
If you move the yellow equalizer all the way to the right, it will only record very loud sounds, which doesn't work for recording phone calls. If you set the microphone gain to low, the recording will be hard to hear when you play it back. You'll have to hold the speaker up to your ear.
Thanks mskip & OP
Runs perfect with PDA v.19 & VITO AUDIO NOTES 1.37
Can't believe that after all this time 2 way works wonder if it would on Dash?
stylez.
Thanks Sir mskip,
Could it be mirrored?
Thank You

Yeah I know what you mean I have been looking for some way to record both sides of a conversation for about 3 years when I got my old Hermes. Even tried going through bluetooth to my pc and recording that way lol. All it took was a few simple registry changes to allow this. I was always told it was a hardware problem and would never be possible lol. Im happy now
When I went into my registry to test this method my values was already set as the original post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3463124&postcount=75)...
I wonder if this is what ICR does, is it the same solution??? Have anybody done a deep analysis of the ICR cab?
I was hoping for a louder recording...

Ok let me know what happens
After you install ICR the only way to get rid of it is a Hard Reset. Not sure how they will work together maybe the registry edit will bump up the volume with icr.
I think the registry changes are more compatable then using ICR as alot of people seem to have problems getting it working.

I guess if your recorded volume didnt increase then ICR is taking control of rerouting the incoming sound. With JUST the registry changes the volume is very loud. I had a 30 minute phone call yesterday and VITO Audio Notes recorded both sides perfectly. Maybe you could try a hard reset sometime to get rid of ICR and then try a comparison with just the registry cab
