Update:
It was Touch Keyboard and Keypad cab causing it, removed, soft-rest, and it's fixed now.
Hi, I used search and could not find any thread about this. All the sudden my word completion stopped working.
The only changes I can think of is changing PTT button assignments, the 2.xx Home plug in, and the Touch Keyboard and Keypad cab.
I haven't tried removing those apps, and will certainly try that but was wondering if anyone
knows how to fix it if it's not one of those programs causing the problem.
edit:
I have already tired disabling it, then enabling it back under Input settings and soft-reset.
Thanks.
Hi Mates,
Would somebody like to guide me that how can i remove or change a program name from a " Remove Program" window instead of removing the actuall program.. In that way i think we can hide a program from other onlookers....
Max621
HTC TYTN II
It seems to me that; I asked a very technical question.....
RegEdit
Have a look at the Reg Keys in [HKLM]\Security\AppInstall\
Change the keys in there to change the display name.
If you are skiddish about the registry, you can use SK Tools to remove the name as well. Another easy alternative is to go to \Windows\AppMgr & delete or move the file for the program you want removed from uninstall. Then go to unistall Programs & click uninstall. The device will say that it can't find the uninstall information (which is kept in \Windows\AppMgr) & will then ask you if you want to remove it from the list. Chose yes & it's gone, but the program .exe & other files will remain. You will need to reinstall later if you ever want to remove it.
Thanks Guys for the help and i think playing with the Registry is a lot more fun

I have tried to uninstall an app, but it says that it is only partially removed. The app does then not show up in \windows\appmgr, and [HKLM]\security\appInstall\. But it always shows up at \Setting\uninstall list and cannot be removed even I tried again and again. Any idea what on hell it is? Thanks.
Hey gang,
HELP! I'm trying to figure out how to fix my Messaging application, it is currently broken. All of my other apps seem to be working.
I am not blaming Throttle Launcher, but it got broken sometime shortly after uninstalling it; I tried to fix my problem by reinstalling it, but no go. So I don't think it was the root cause.
If I click the messaging icon in Programs nothing happens. If I try to run tmail.exe from \Windows, nothing happens. Checking my task manager process listing, I see poutlook.exe running, but with 0KB for Memory and only 1 thread. I do not see anything related to tmail.exe listed in my task manager.
I have soft-reset with no change in behavior.
I would just hard-reset but I want to use PIM backup first, and of course, since it can't talk to pocket outlook, I can't backup my messages.
Any help here? What can I look for? Registry settings? Specific files? I do not have another device here to compare with.
pim back up will back everything even in the absence of some messaging components
i advice to run a back up and perform hard reset then restore

Thanks, but I tried PIM backup 2.8 and it doesn't allow me to backup the messages, which is really the only thing I want besides the call history.
I've used PIM backup many times before, so I can see that it really wants to use the MAPI components to do the messaging backup.
I wonder... does pim.vol hold messages, too?
Solution found
Well, I tried searching before my original posting and didn't find any solution.
A fresh search this morning turned up this answer, which (YAY!) worked for me:

Hi guys,
I cannot find any place that describes how you (me) can remove a program from both the program menu and all other places..
I'm having this problem because i was experiencing issues with the Klaxon alarm clock, it wouldnt ring so i was late for work (4hours) and angry so i went to uninstall it through add/remove programs, but it didnt remove it completely!!! so now im stuck with it still in menues!!
Is there a reg thread for this or maybe a patch...
Im running the Danish STANDARD ROM...
Thanks

Normally a program should completely be removed just by using the procedure you described. But sometimes it doesn't (like on windows). You could for example use MemMaid to cleanup afterwards. It can delete orphaned registry keys and also program links to programs which no longer exist.

hi i have installed a the Colour 3G 10 Button touch home dialer comm manager on my tytn ll but dont want it anymore and now i cant uninstall it, i try to run the installation process again to have the existing installation removed but i always get a message that it cannot be uninstalled, so i have gotten the SKTools program to remove it but still cannot find or remove this thing, can someone tell me where to look or how to get rid of it. thank you.
In SKTools:
- to be safe, start by doing a backup of your device (Sprite Backup or similar)
- select installed programs, then select the app you want to uninstall (and no other, otherwise they will also be uninstalled !)
- it shows all the components installed for that app
- make a screen capture of the installed components and save it for later reference
- select "Action", then "Uninstall marked" (not Uninstall marked standard !)
- if all goes well, it should be uninstalled
- otherwise, manually uninstall the components in your saved screen capture.
hi and thanks. see this is the problem tho, this 'Colour 3G 10 Button touch home dialer comm manager' is not showing up in the installed programs, i actually cant find it anywhere, i mean i know its there somewhere obviously, but i've even unzipped the file on my computer then looked for the files that came out of it manually in the windows folder and a few other places and using the search function of the fone and on SKTools and still can't find it haha. bugging me man. actually the search function doesnt bring up anything, i type in the exact file name of a few of the unzipped files and get no results. and now actually my original dial pad on the phone has been messed up too.so if anyone knows where i can find the windows mobile 6.1 phone dialpad i'd appreciate that too. does it even come separate?
First, did you soft reset after your uninstall? It often helps.
Also, being careful and using a registry editor, did you check if there are any unwanted remnants of the old dialer in the registry?
hi, thanks. no i didnt do a soft reset, i dont even know what that is actually. and i can't uninstall the app thats my problem. how would i know what files to look for in the registry?
thank u.

1) search for soft reset on this forum
2) under HKLM/software and HKCU/software, look for the name of the editor/developper or the name of the app
Again, be careful
Have you made sure commanager is not running before uninstall?
A way to make sure is to soft-reset "turn device off then on "
