Am I the only one with this? I tried searching for a solution but no luck so far...
When I am browsing websites with the Opera browser (_every_ version I tested so far) after some time the page doesn't get displayed entirely anymore and the missing parts simply remain black. This ends up in the entire website view becoming black.
To me this looks a lot like a memory issue. Anyone else having this kind of problem?
Cheers,
Alex
You're not alone. I have the same Issue but I mentioned it at only one site. Maybe Opera has some problems with some plugins on that sites.
Having the same problem here, but so far it happened only on the accuweather site... not that i'm browsing very often but that site is the only one that caused the same problem... no idea why though

Yes, I have the same problem with the Accuweather site. I haven't seen it on any other sites, yet.
i had the same problem today on the bbc website.
I think it might be an issue with frames. There are scrollbars on the bottom of the visible part of the website but only for a second or so while the site renders. They disappear after opera is finished rendering the site. A site that does this is www.studivz.de (very popular social networking site in germany) but only when logged in. Another problem I have is that some sites (php) I can only scroll the site halfway after I zoomed in. After zooming out, the problem is still there however.
I second that with StudiVZ...
As for PHP I don't believe that's the relevant factor - since that only determines the HTML generation - not the resulting HTML code sent to the browser afterwards. So what I am saying is that you most likely could reproduce the same problem with _any_ language by simply sending the same HTML...

Good news everyone...
I just tried out Build 1938 of Opera 9.5 and did not encounter the "black holes" anymore.
I used the "upgrade" version from the thread below. Rename the files in /windows/ otherwise they can't be overwritten. Then copy the files from the downloaded .zip file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2321466&postcount=1
Only tried studivz.net hope this fixes other sites, too.
Unfortunately this build doesn`t change any think in black hole ... if you want to see just go to www.onet.pl
Unfortunately it doesn`t change anything in "Black Hole" :/ Try www.onet.pl still a lot of black holes on my device :/

I hate to disappoint you but I tried the website, zoomed, panned etc. around a couple of times and encountered no black holes. I am using dutty's 1.6 ROM. Are you sure, you installed the upgrade correctly? In Opera look under help->about opera->(scroll up) if it displays Build 1938. Also remember to soft reset the phone after the upgrade.
regards.
I can confirm that build 1938 solved all my black hole problems, too.
i`m using oryginal 1.93 ROM not cooked maybe this is problem ? Did you upgraded or instal again ?
Updated: Hmmm strange now it works ;D But i have a question to U ... Do you know how to delete these old files ? that i`ve changed the name ... because windows says you cannot delete these files but one of them is 6 Mb so you know that is a lot of free space

Hi. I deleted the files using file explorer running on the diamond itself, not with pc through usb. If this does not work, try using a different file explorer like total commander (free) or resco explorer (trial and buy but much better).

Opera dying
Hi guys,
I flashed my Diamond with Swiftblade's latest which had the new version of Opera on it. But whenever I visit any site such as ebay, natwest or paypal and click on a button, opera dies. It worked fine on IE before I upgraded.
Just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem or knows a fix?!
Can't use the browser at all for now and I don't want to go back to the original ugly T-mobile ROM
Cheers guys!

Is IE unusable on the kaiser with the bug i hear about? I usually use the joypad for scrolling down, is it still the same?
Compared to the Hermes, how fast is the Kaiser at building pages up? On any big pages (eg. ebay) the Hermes really grinds to a snails pace and even when you think it's finished if you scroll down it's still (slowly) inserting images. Sometimes it can take nearly 60secs to finish showing an eBay page.
cheers, John
Which bug?
I use PIE with PIEPlus 2.2 and it works fine.
It is slow though, compared to my old Magician WM2003SE But thats obvious (WM2003SE is not flash based OS, no persistent-memory, thats why faster).
I am waiting Opera Mobile 9, which I am not sure will ever be released!

I don't notice any difference with the Hermes. What bug are you talking about exactly?
By the by: opera mini beta 4 runs great on the Kaiser.

Yes it works, but the scrolling gets laggy once you have scrolled down a bit. The page download times are probably on a par with the TyTn. The Touchflo finger scrolling works better (once you get the hang of it).
Opera Mini works faster and scrolls OK.
Mike
Im not having any issues with PIE in general and I'm already getting used to the scroll feature. In fact I picked up my Trinity today and found it annoying when I had to use those fiddly scroll bars.
I wonder how it compares to the experience on the new iPod Touch?
I heard from a friend that the browsing experience on that was very intuitive - but then he is an apple nerd!
My bigger issue with the Tytn II is still the radio used. I am having real problems with the gprs/3G switch and both phone and internet connection have major problems coping when I am in 1 or 2 bars of 3G.
And I am still rarely getting a full 3G signal which was not the probelm with the later radios I have on my Tytn and Trinity.
I will try my Vodafone SIM tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

this is the bug i was talking/hearing about.
With the extra power and extra chips I was hoping the page building issue would have truly gone, it's my biggest gripe with my Hermes. My other gripe was the poor video playback on my Hermes (which has improved thanks to many WM6 roms), I hear this hasn't improved much either. I think I'll wait until a new ROM or a new device...
Touchflo doesnt work with my installation of Opera Mobile (8.60). Would have thought there would be 20 million threads on it by now so am thinking its just me with the issue.
Is touchflo something that has to be written into third party software of should it would with anything?
Opera Mini is the Java version correct?
New ROM will not fix that because it will be still the same IE.
IE is just slow, that's all.
Try Opera Mini and enjoy the super fast browsing experience.
You will never look back to IE, trust me.

Yes, Opera Mini is a Java application.
But it is running fine and superb.
Here what I got it installed in my device:
1. Install JBED-JAVA_MIDLET_MANAGER.2007.08.02.2.1
Get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=49222&d=1188897204
2. Use IE and browse to mini.opera.com/beta
And follow the instruction to install it.
Note: Choose "High memory" version.
You are done.
Now, read this article below :
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html
You will be able to:
1. Make a shortcut to the "Programs" folder
Then using the "Settings->Button" you can change the IE softkey to execute this shortcut.
2. Get rid of the network security warning.
That's it

Phew! Took a bit of work, but worth it
All thats left is for it to be set as the default browser and take links from emails.
Cheers for that buddy.
The shortcut part just doesn't work for me. I use Esmertec and my shortcut based on what I see in the appsdb folder is
#30"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s3_
Whatever I do it gives me the message - Could not find MIDlet suite s3_
The file in appsdb is s3_suite.jar. Even still, I tried from number s0_ to s3_ to no avail.
Hope somebody can help.

I get that same error - unable to find Suite 0 or 1 or whatever I put in.
Also the change in the selector file has my OperaMini still asking for permission. Any suggestions????

i could only get it to work witn Cloudyfa's JBed, not with the default JMM.
I finally got it to work with Cloudyfa's JBed. For some reason, JBed wasn't installed properly. It wasn't showing up and Remove Programs. I reinstalled it, reinstalled Opera, applied the shortcut/network warning fix, and all is working perfectly.
For other people having this problem, make sure JBed is showing up in the Programs list and in Remove Programs before you install Opera. Seemed to do the trick.
I will be doing all of this tonight, Thanks for the tips.
Same here, I too get the error message could not find suite s0_. The number is correct, but i noticed i dont have any .jar files in the appdb folder... Any ideas?
I also didn't have any .jar files in my appdb folder. I did see some files with s2_ extensions (eg. s2_.jah and _s2.obj) so I changed my suite link to s2_ and it worked. Once I got the link to work, I then copied the selector.utf file from appdb to my PC and ran the Fix.exe editor on it and copied it back to the Kaiser. Works perfectly with no more permission dialog, thanks so much for sharing!
My squence;
1-Install Jbed
2-Install Opera Mini and test to verify it works.
3-Create link in programs folder and test
4-Copy off selector.utf and "fix", copy back and it should all be good, with no more permissions required.
5-Map the program link to a hard key.
6-Crack a cold beverage of choice, life is good
Hi Guys,
I'm having problems with flash when using Opera Mobile 9.5 beta, Opera Mobile 9.5, Opera Mobile old versions and Mini Opera. I can't seem to view anything on flash, I've tried seveal flash application e.g. Adobe Flash lite, Adobe Flash player from their website. The message I keep on getting is:-
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. If that doesn't fix the problem, do a hard refresh ( press 'F5' while holding down 'ctrl')
PLEASE HELP - Have I missed something in setting option apart from enabling JavaScript?
Can someone please share with me a 100% compatible flash app with Opera Mobile?
From what I gather, this is a problem with any Opera and IE. But they say Skyfire is going to solve this. But you have to go on the waiting list to get it.
But..., if someone has a solution for this issue, I would love to know.
Let me refer you to the Opera Mobile site:
http://www.opera.com/press/reviews/mobile/
At the bottom you will notice "ActiveX is disabled — Flash plugins and embedded video streaming do not work." in the Known Issues list. You aren't having problems - flash is not supported yet in the 9.5 beta.
From experience I got tired of dilly dally'ing with opera mobile. Its slow when compared to Skyfire or Opera mini. (even on 3g its slow) If you want flash try to get skyfire. My tilt is rockin skyfire and opera mini. Both have their pros and cons.
is says directly on the opera website flash and activex don't work

I did manage to get flash working at one point after extensive configuration of settings but at this stage it isn't even worth it at all...
It is so slow and you will end up soft resetting each time you run a flash video site i.e. youtube.
Dulal,
Why don't you try "youtubeplay" I have it on my phone and think it's great application.
Thanks Mr Invisible Sense man!!
I've got "Youtubeplay" (attached) but I don't like it much as you can only watch specific videos (as toenail said).
I'm thiniking of getting "HTC diamond streaming player" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417005 back to view my video clips from YouTube unless you can suggest a better solution.
I can't wait until the weekend as I'm going to flash again (to L26's V10TL), I'm not to happy with HD's Lite ROM as you suggested. I'm getting loads of problem and it's very laggy on my device. I'm wondering if it could be the HardSPL I'm using because I've still got version 1 installed on my Kaiser. Which version of HardSPL are you using for that ROM and would you advice me to upgrade - V3.56?
Anyway, I'm off to work now. Speak to you soon Mr Invisible man!

Yeap skyfire will get flash playing for you, but it is (as of this release) the most annoying app on my phone. No stop button (stop load) , and the friggin zoom, unless you have fingers the size of a stylus it will annoy the **** out of you.
I use opera mini for all but video or aol radio type programs which i run in skyfire. opera mini even lets me admin my full website now.
Hopefully theyll take some of the suggestions they're getting and make skyfire a little more user friendly.

How about www.skyfire.com....just a thought. Ya know, people are usually pretty reluctant to help people who don't first try to help themselves (there are many, many threads here pertaining to Skyfire...and you'd almost have to try hard not to stumble upon one of them on accident).
So now we just need someone to provide us non-americans with a US-number... Or does Skyfire only work for the US-people...?
Edit: OK... as I see it you can only sign up to become a Beta 2 tester - and they don't even know when they will start to work on the Beta 2 version... So again: Where does one get Skyfire????

Yes, it is only working for the U.S. right now. I'm confused as to why you want it so badly.....since you apparently haven't read anything about it at all, or researched anything pertaining to it.
Where does one get it? By signing up for the beta like everyone else. A cab file will do you no good as you need to have an actual account and verification. You would've found out all of this had you bothered to read anything on their site, or searched this one.......and had you done any kind of search here, you probably also would've found that if you put in the beta code "cnet100" when you register, you will get in to the closed beta immediately......if they haven't shut that down yet.
Your code didn't work, but I found that "bgenius" does and I got the sms to download, but when I run skyfire it fails to authenticate even though they have my number and everything.

Guess you needed to register a while back, I posted the file in case someone knew a work around.
So... I signed up for the Beta2 of Skyfire at least 4 or 5 months ago and five minutes ago I got a link with my copy of it. I registered my account and installed the cab to discover an awesome full-fledged browser. Has anyone else received the text message for their copy? When starting up Skyfire it says version 0.61.0.4721. Is this Beta 2? Is the version other people have?

Curious, did you follow the instructions from the original thread below or from one of the many duplicate threads that made the .cab itself available?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414383&highlight=skyfire
I ask because the .cab by itself was never intended to work alone as it needs to be registered via phone # and personal info, which acts as your login to use the program. There may be hacks out there(?), but I am not inclined to do legwork to find them, if they do exist that is.
I finally got my text last night.
Downloaded it immediately and love it.
Then, late last night and early this morning, network issues.
Now, it works like a champ again.
maybe there was a problem with the proprietary skyfire servers or something.

I went through all the steps described in your url, used the original cnet100 code and when that did not work I used a bGenius code from another site, I had the cab downloaded both ties, activated, program installed, and then nothing. It cannot find the internet. I have IE, Opera 8.5 and Oopera mini all working very well, no problem with my net connections.
I had the same issue a while back. In my case I disabled the ATT Proxy for the MEdia Net connection and then all worked fine.

many thanks!
Just downloaded it and have putzing around with it.
things i like: renders pages much like my desktops. Loads pages fairly quickly. Relatively small memory footprint
Things I'm iffy on: chunky scrolling (as opposed to NetFront or Iris), text entry into a separate text box seems redundant to me...and probably some other stuff.
This is running on a stock ATT rom, minus the bloatware. It seems fairly stable.
When on my wifi connection, its quite nice.
Yea I was about to ask about the "chunky scrolling". I've noticed that too. Opera 9.5 isn't like that at all. I was wondering if it was the software or if the new kaiser d3d beta drivers or the omnia drivers helped this at all... I haven't had any of the connection issues that others have had and I do like the small 1.5mb or so space it takes to install compared to ~8mb for Opera.
why am i not getting text messages from skyfire.
i have a valid beta code.
I just downloaded mine, but I haven't had time to play with it yet.
Hmmm I havent gotten any links to download it...... It tells me I have to wait until the beta is released for beta testing? hmmmmm I wonder what I did wrong
I got my text for Beta 2 also. It's definitely much better than Opera and IE, but still no where near the iPhone's Safari browser. I switch between my iPhone and Tilt every couple days and when it comes to browsing Safari is pretty damn good. Skyfire is definitely a step in the right direction.
I've been using this for a week now and have noticed a few things.
1. random freezing. While either loading or on a page, my version will just hang and the Tilt will not respond to anything but a reboot...which, in my case, sucks due to that infernal GoodLink lock app.
2 since this is server based, sometimes I get REALLLY sluggish performance. When rendering a simple text based page (say...like craigslist) the screen redraws are horribly slow and scrolling thru a page brings up the checkerboard pattern until it gets the screen redraw info.
3 my settings for some reason or other...do not stick. For example, I will have smart fit enabled in my default view settings. When I load a page the text does not flow correctly, and I have to enable smart fit again.
4 Load up times: horribly inconsistant. Somedays its quick and zippy and blows other browsers out of the water. Other times...it just wont launch.
Having said that: I realize that this is a beta and is bound to be far from perfect. But while the concept is great, the execution leaves a bit to be desired, especially the network connectivity issues for me.
I also have NetFront (LOVE IT) and the Iris browsers as well as the stock OEM Internet Explorer. I want to like Skyfire, but its just too damn iffy right now, whereas my NetFront and Iris are pretty decent.
This is on a stock Win6 OEM ROM (minus the bloatware)
Is there a Net Front CAB that we can download?
Am I imagining it or should the screen flip over when I move the diamond to horizontal when browsing on Opera? If it should be, how do I make mine do it?
it should do it automatically

Buddy:
A word of advice:
Read all the post and threads before you start your own topics.
Dont be lllaaazzzyyyyy, we were all once new to the Diamond.
All the questions you asked since you have become a memeber have been asked and mostly resolved.
Make everyone a favor and explore all the knowledge that has been gathered for Diamond users.
It all there man!
Luck!
Thanks for the post, but I searched for this issue and couldn't find anything.
As you're such a senior member, some help and perhaps at least pointing me in the right direction on this forum would be greatly appreciated.

What usually helps in this situation is do the following:
-Quick fix for the Opera is here: Latestzz version of Opera which I believe is the one on Duttythroy.net
-Uninstall current Opera version and reinstall with 1938.
If that does not work try this:
-Flash ROM. You choose your poison. All ROMS offered are good, it all depends on your taste.
-And then reinstall new Opera version (if ROM does not have it)
Luck!
And remember to search and read!
Thanks for the tips. I should have mentioned that I have Swift v6.0 ROM...
Are you saying that the low battery and crazy web page viewing is common then? Or that the screen not going horizontal is common?

You will stumble across multiple bugs, the Jewel is one spoiled brat. But we all love him anyways
(I guess its the price to pay for such an "Open Source" based on liberty device)
Luck!
Does the latest Opera on dutty's webage fix this bug?
Also - and I have searched for this relentlessly - I don't understand how to install cab files, can you tell me where they need to go on the phone before I try to execute the file...

Hi to all, hope someone can help.
I'm using an HTC Touch Pro with a stock Middle East ROM.
When browsing through Opera, or using any software such as Facebook, Twitter apps or anything else that uses the internet, I have no problems. It all works great.
But...
When trying to browse to any page using Internet Explorer, the loading bar appears for a second and nothing happens. It won't load ANY page, except HTML files stored on the device itself...
I haven't installed any software that might block PIE from connecting to the net...
Has anyone seen this happen before? Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

Yes. I've got the same problem...
here's the thing: PIE is actually a mobile version of IE 4. ya know, the one in windows 95. opera mobile 9.7 is a perfect on the acid 3 test and is up to date. that's why. it's not compatible with these new sites, and probably even less so with language.
Look for the 'disable hidden proxy' cab in either the start menu or \windows. It should solve your problems. If you can't find it on your device, search for it here.
