Hi,
I have a little problem with fix GPS.
I use IGO8 on my diamond, and the first time no problem to find satellite.
After this I close the application, and I make some kilometer.
I launch the GPS application, and I didn't find the satellite.
If I make a soft reset, no problem after.
I think that when the list of satellite is found, after The diamond did not refresh the list.
Do you have the same problem ? or do you have one solution, because to make the soft reset everytime it is very strange.
Thanks
Try to see if this problem also occurs within other GPS programs.
I tried with Igo and Tomtom and the same problem.
During the next week I will try because I am in vacation, try to define exactly the problem about to find the GPS signal
I confirm same problem with all gps app, sometime the GPS go in standby mode
I use the Diamond_bElite_Premium_0.95 rom by by bepe with radio rom v1.00.25.05
What is your radio version rom ?
version de ROM 1.37.406.1 FRE
Version de Radio : 1.00.25.03
I buy the diamond in France without operator pack.

Any Idea to solve this problem ?
Perhaps the last update on the HTC site ?
The problem is very important on my 1800mA battery, where is the gps antenna ?
Hi all,
i took delivery of my new HTC Diamond yesterday and having a few problems with it too on the satnav side. I have tomtom 6 installed and it sometimes freezes and the motion when it is working is very jerky, does anyone how to correct this please? The battey life is very poor too i only got 7 hrs standby time from full battery, the battery is 900 mah, is this the normal battery thats dispatched with this phone? One other thing is the in call volume its very quiet on mine and at full volume i have difficulty hearing the call, if i put it on speaker phone its very crackely does anyone else have this problem or do you think the phone is faulty?
I found, the battery cover is a part of the antenna !
I have a better reception with the original cover and it not a problem of battery ...
I make an aluminium paper in the cover of 1800mA, whooaah my gps signal better than the original cover !

I tried my Tilt with iGuidance and got very disappointed. The GPS has an issue following my position. It updates the position on average every 30 sec and by the next update I can really get off the quided track.
Other people tell me that something is wrong, as the arrow on the screen should be following me smoothly in real time, not jumping city blocks. The only configurable setting for the GPS is baude rate, but I tried all values and still the same. What could be the problem?

are you in the city with a bunch of tall buildings??
also d/l htc gps and see how many sats your locked on.
I was mostly in the city, but no tall buildings. The GPS can lock me really good and fast, the reception is good, it finds like 8 sattelites. The only problem is it does not stay continuously locked on position, but lockes every 30 sec or so..
I installed the logging tool and will give it a try. Thanks!
What ROM and Radio do you use? stock?
I am using The NoThrills ROM (CE OS 5.2.19170 (Build 19170.1.0.0)), which comes with R 1.58.26.20.
Just tried the HTC GPS tool - not sure what exactly to look for, but it keeps logging very fast, the lines in the logger change at a rate e few per seccond, it always showed 7-8 satellites locked and yet did not update my position in real time, but probably every 30 sec.

If you are using Iguidance 4 then this is a know issues with the GPS chip in the tilt. It will not work right, the only work around is to use a separate bluetooth GPS reciever and not the internal gps. The other way is to use a different GPS software as Iguidannce 4 is the only one that I'm aware of that has this issue....
Yes, I am using iGuidance 4. Where did you see about the issue it has with the Tilt? Can you post some link? I can see only positive feedback. Would be good to know that it is a software issue and not my Tilt.....
Hi, I use miomap. My GPS is not smooth too. I don't need to wait 30 seconds to update the position, but it may need 3 to 4 seconds to update the position. It is not as smooth as tomtom.
Check out a program called GPS Gate. This issue typically has to do with WM6.1 and iGuidance 4.0 not playing well together on the Tilt. GPS Gate reports the GPS feed into something that iGuidance 4.0 can be happy with. Here's another thread for more details...

Hello, I've searched eagerly, but didn't find anything on that topic. I hope I'm not the only one.
I have a German branded Diamond / MDA compact IV from T-Mobile. When I shot pictures, I wanted to use the standby function (press on/off switch) to save power between taking some pictures, but keeping the camera ready for another shot. However, after waking up the device, it gives an error message like: "Failed to initialize camera." Only turning the device off and on again will make the camera working again. That is pretty anoying as it would save battery power and time.
Is there any fix for this? Thanks guys.
JB
I'm facing that problem too but have not found any resolution yet.
I hope it's not a hardware problem. Bought my Diamond in Malaysia so it's not particular to a particular region
Anyone?
Im using stock HK 1.93.831 ROM here. No issues.
How long do U keep it on standby before turning back on for another shot?
No issues here too.
MDA Compact IV / Diamond Camera Initialization
Hi, my MDA Compact IV delivered in the UK last week with a 1.37 Rom has this problem. When in camera mode, if you switch off to standby, then switch back on, usually it will give an error that it can not initialize the camera.
A soft reset is all that seems to fix it.
This is quite a serious usability problem - as a tourist you're going to be doing this a lot. There will have to be a fix for this at some point, probably at ROM level.
Did this problem get fixed? Hadn't realised that I was putting the camera into standby, but sure enough a short press on the on-off switch if the camera prog is running causes various problems, and a soft reset (pressing and holding the on-off?) Takes at least 3 minutes.
Mike
I just wanted to say that the GPS in the Diamond is one of the better I have ever used.
I am now running the .08 radio ROM and the GPS Fix is under 20 sec.
But, thats not all. Now I also got FULL GPS reception in my VW Multivan.
Some of you maybe think.. "ehhhh.. whats so amazing ´bout that??"
Well, my car got this special windscreen that F**k up the reception of GPS´s and mobile phones.
I think that I have tried 4-5 different GPS devices (pocket pc´s, tomtom´s, garmin etc)
and I had to add an external antenna to get a good reception.
But I tried my diamond yesterday, and I got FULL reception with the diamond in the same position on my dash. (in under 20 secs of course =) )
So.. GO HTC.. GO GO GO!! =)
lol! it seems that you and me have some special diamond. using iGO8 and driving a Peugeot 207S with the same type of windscreen. even my athena has a hard time with finding satellites....the diamond is "on" in under 1 minute!
i posted a link to yr post at the longest and saddest GPS thread:

time management at his best!
I'm still impressed with mine when I manage to get a signal indoors with no windows around
I love my GPS too. We need more posts like this. It's so easy to critisize a few weaknesses, but this is a masterpiece of a telephone with such amazing features despite such a small size.
confirmation
I can only confirm that the GPS in Diamond ist the best one I ever had.
Total connection in less than 20 Seconds (sometimes even in only 10 Secs).
I think, there is no other device with such abilities.
Due to my job, I have to use it more than 10 times a day for various address and I can only say, it works really very reliable. I use íGO 8.
To get TMC-Information I use additionally at the same time also an another TMC-GPS-Device (GNS 5840). They work great together. GNS-5840 ist very cheap to buy it as used and delivers ony the TMC-Signals.
All in all a wonderfull device without any problems. Simly amazing.
Yeh, same for me too... very rare mine takes more than 30 seconds for a fix... no matter the app I'm using, or where I am. Even indoors, I quite often manage to get a fix.
Remarkable piece of kit.
Not only me then =)
Finally I can remove that ugly external GPS antenna from my car.
right, the first time i tested GPS on my new Diamond I thought: wow, what is wrong here, this is too fast. But, no, it was working.
My previous phone was the Kaiser, and even with the old WM6.0 ROMs, it took much more time, not even to mention the WM6.1
Im seeing the same. Takes about 15-20secs to get a full lock. Seems to work all the time every time.
Similar thing here, upgraded to the .07 radio and things are much better! Lock in 15-20 seconds. I was walking down the central corridor of the hotel I was staying in at the weekend and it still managed a signal - ok so it was the top floor but still!
Now if we can have the same revalation about 3g performance
With the 1.93 rom mine stays like 30 sec to get signal... with the older rom 1.37 i think... it stayed like 10-15 seconds... but the lag was the same....
Well i have a question.
When i use TomTom or IGO the position on the screen is always about 50 meters off to where I actually am.
So since IGO & TomTom Both have the same behaviour i guess i should look at the GPS module.
My old S730 was always spot on... when i looked at the screen and saw a turn on the left, there actually was a turn to the left.
Anybody knows how this can be solved ?
My TD2 does not have this problem, perhaps there is an issue with your particular phone?
I thoght about it before and found out that it was not inaccuracy but the delay GPS chip needs to calculate your position. Do one test. Some time when you stop at a red light and you know you've waited for about 5 secs, check your position then. I believe it will be accurate then.
I noticed that some GPS's try to calculate your current position based on direction and speed you had few seconds ago. I found out about it one time when I waited at the red light in a long tunnel. Obviously there was no signal there, but when I stopped, GPS kept on showing that I was moving about 40MPH for several seconds before it finally showed lost signal message.
Some GPS's do calculate your position ahead of time and some don't.
Maybe it was because i had assisted GPS turned on...
If you do a search on AGPS LAG (ANY HTCPRODUCT WITH AGPS) then you will see enough posts that speciffically deals with this problem...
My old phone is SPOT ON with TT and my new 2 times faster phone is less accurate, and in a street with lots of turns, take a-lefts etc it's quite important to rely on the machine. And when the machine says turn left on the next corner, is that left the one i am currently at or the one 20 meters ahead from where i am now....
It should be just as with my old phone spot on
Well disabeling AGPS definitely works...
I am now about 20 meters behind all the time. This seems acceptable although I keep finding it strange that my older phone was way more accurate.....
you mean disable QuickGPS or disable AGPS in Advanced Config??
It is definitely a lag issue, not a precision issue: my TD2 internal GPS is at least as accurate as my Qstarz bluetooth GPS logger, and this one has a dedicated large antenna and good GPS chipset. TD2 sensitivity is also comparable, maybe even better inside building, and the time before locking a signal from coldstart is also comparable or better...
BUT there is a lag of maybe 30 m around 50 km/h in my car, and it is is indeed quite noticeable for driving directions...No big deal for me, as I do not rely on voice instruction but always have a quick peak at the screen (I was bitten by ambiguous instruction often enough in the past with other GPS system to have developped this quick peak habit ;-) )..but this lag is indeed anoying...
I'd like to try the TD2 using the external GPS through bluetooth, if I find time to do it this WE I will post my conclusions...

I use to have the same problem as you, so, I've tried the tweak referred in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514912 and it did the trick for me.
I use iGo8 and NDrive and the accuracy improved a lot, it's almost spot on, no matter what speed I'm driving.
Regards,
I was in my mates Audi TT the other day. He has the built in GPS in the dash board. I noticed there was as much lag as you see on an HTC device.
Also was in a car a few months asgo with someone who had a stand alone TomTom device and that too had lag.
Unless you're paying thousands of Dollars for millitary grade navigation equipment, i wouldn't spare the lag issue another thought.
Not long now ...
There's a bigger lag comming if the media are to be believed (and based on everything that comes from the tele, radio and newspapers these days - there're probably not - they can't even get the weather right)

Diamond1 paid £150 was spot on. No Lag. The speed indicator on tomtom was very accurate, not like on the diamond2 where it takes over 2 seconds to show a speed change. I am surprised that not many people have noticed the slow and inaccurate GPS performance of the D2.
Hello all,
After 2 week I bought my G800H, the GPS star to take too long to get GPS Signal. Some times more than 10 minutes
Even with 3G (H+) working well and the configuration in "High accuracy".
Other thing that happens is the GPS notification keeps blinking even when no app running.
Anyone with the same problem?
Thanks and B.R.
I have the same problem. Didnt find any solutions yet. Reboot, apps, settings. For me i could be the OS or the sensor. I have a S3 Mini and the gps signal works as a beauty!!!!

Happened to me also few times, but it happens only when I try to use GPS in car. Outside it works without any problems and gets lock within a minute.
Sometimes in car it gets lock and then looses it after few seconds and has to reacquire it again, which takes few minutes.
Maybe there is some interference?
i've similar issue with my sm-g800 f with 3g connection disabled (ten minutes to fix), when i enable connectionless tha n 1 minute.
I my case problem is wrong server in gps conf file (north america server), but i'am in europe. I dont' know any method without root device to fix it
(changing server with right one, and reset agps data with gps test is the ony way to fix i know)
I have narrowed down my problem to Sygic BlackBox.
If I disable this addon, GPS works correctly and is able to fix quickly. When enabled, I experience poor quality of signal for the first 10-15 minutes, even with data enabled.
Create an issue with sygic, hopefully they will have some tips for me
Today I was experiencing GPS issues again but unfortunately it was not related to sygic.
I have searched around internet a found a bunch of people complaining about GPS signal on S5 mini (both single and dual sim).
Reset of AGPS data and restart helped, but that's not really useful.
Anyone else here experiencing weak GPS signal? I will try to ping Samsung support on Monday...
Here the same problem. G800h mini on my s5. poor gps fix and very inaccurate. I flashed to firmware G800HXXU1ANK2_G800HXEO1ANL1_G800HXXU1ANK2_HOME.
Anyone a solution?

Hi! Same problem on my S5 mini duos using MAPS ou WAZE. Any news about a solution?
It seems to be fixed for me, at least last 3 days I didn't have problems and I was able to navigate with sygic without any issues (2x 150km trips).
I tried GPS Status application and that was not able to get signal also, so I have tried to do factory reset, whether this is software related problem, but that did not help either.
So I though it might be some issue with antenna and connection to motherboard. But S5 mini does not have any bolts or anything like that, everything holds together by strong adhesive.
So I decided to heat the back side around GPS antenna (left upper corner if you are looking at the back of cell phone) with hair drier and push it hard inside when it was warm.
After that I have tried GPS Status application and it locked in 21 seconds and was able to lock on 15 satellites (Before I didn't get more then one or two satellite after 15 minutes even with data enabled).
Don't know if it will help anyone else, but might be worth a try.
that sounds interesting.
Guys, any news ou resolution about this issue? I bought mine few weeks ago and the GPS is the worst i' ever had! I can't use WAZE ou GMAPS properly because of this!!! First time this is happening to me....

i could fix my wifes s5 mini too with the hairdryer, thx for the idea :good:
1. remove backcover, lay it flat on a towel (face down)
2. heaten up the upper left corner (backside) as described above,
3. then push it hard down for about 5 minutes til cooldown to be sure it is fixed in position
4. profit
edit: before the procedure the phone received 4 to 5 weak satellites in gps test, now the phone receive 16 satellites after 10 seconds.
Glad to hear it helped to someone else also.
I know it sounds stupid but works
@dawaldi Please can you portray a picture of it?

Here is picture of the phone with the back cover opened up, there are some kind of springs and glue inside the "doors"
Personally I have pushed down both side, just to be sure.
thank you! Today I had tested on my phone. Heated with a hair dryer and then the finger pressure on the body. It is better but the pressure is not sufficient permanent.
I will test tomorrow.
