opera mobile and predictive text - any solution??? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I love the predictive text on the Diamond, especially using the phone keypad. Has anyone else noticed this annoyance though......
When typing words out in Opera if you tap on a suggestion the cursor jumps back about six words. It is very annoying as I use predictive all the time in every other app. The only workaround I've found is to move across with the d-pad and select, but this is very awkward for quick typing.
Anyone got a solution????

I haven't a solution, but i noticed the same annoying problem...it's present in pre-installed opera and in opera beta too

typing slower seems to prevent it for me

Vote the best Text Input Method

Interested to see what everyone is using for text input and what they believe to be the best out of:-
Block Recognizer
Keyboard
Letter Recognizer
Phone Pad
TouchPal
Transcriber
Tengo
Slide QWERTY Keyboard
Other
Where is PCMKeyboard?
Where is MessagEase?
PCMKeyboard for me too when I'm on the move.
But surely it's a no-brainer...The hardware keyboard tops the lot?
First choice = The hardware keyboard (of course!)
Second choice = PocketCM Keyboard with my own layout
I voted keyboard, because I assumed that was the hardware keyboard. Until I saw the option for the slide-out qwerty keybard. So subtract one vote from keyboard, and add one to the slide-out.
That can be subjective
Best text input? Wow, that can be very subjective to ones own personal tastes and needs. For me the slide out keyboard is what I use for any doc I'm composing with high character count. For, lets say I just want to enter a user name and password, I will use the on screen key board. And for maybe making a running list (like a grocery list) I might use Transcriber.
I have not voted, firstly because Pocket CM does not appear in the list and secondly that I am undecided between Pocket CM and TouchPal. While Touchpal allows me faster typing but covers more screen real estate making it difficult to handle spreadsheets with frozen headers of more than a few rows
pcmkeyboard really doesnt work very well with window animations :<

Same for me.
Resco Keyboard
I voted other because Resco does Not appear on the list. I have the TMO Wing with the Querky Keyboad but find I always use Resco. So I guess I prefer Resco with the stylus.
The slide keyboard is by far the best method in my opinion, but only after I used the AE Buttons Plus to inactivate the two small soft keys of the slide-out keyboard. Before that, I would hit the left soft key by accident when typing R or T and this would activate the Send command and make my email fly incomplete. There was a thread for that recently in this forum which I started ,and it gave me very useful guidance.
PCMKeyboard is the best on the move but at home i use the hard ware keyboard

And me! Arse.
PCMKeyboard with no doubt is the best
I always liked the HTC T9 pad when i had XDAs without hardware keyboard like on the TytnII and Exec (not counting my Ameo cos I hated the keyboard on that). However, when I installed it on this phone, I found an annoying behaviour where I would select a word but it would put only the first letter of that word in the conversation or message. Very annoying indeed. I have since hard reset the device but have not tried again with any T9 based pad due to time pressures.
Did anyone else have this problem?
I use MessagEase...
...since my old good Palm T3!
the reason i bought the phone is for the slide out keyboard.. lol
I've yet to find any input method I liked as much as Fitaly. So I voted Other.
Slide-out for me, all the way . Got so used to using the MDA Pro keyboard that even though I've had my Vario 3 only a few days I got straight into my stride even with the odd few button changes.
And as has been mentioned 'tis one of the main deal breakers for me too!

HTC Touch keyboard breaking autocorrect?

I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...

auto switch on xt9 keyboard problem

Hi,
i´m using V8: A.Z.T.O.R. GER integrated xt9 keyboard.
I want to use the T9 entry method but it allways starts with abc.
When i select t9 and change the entryfield it auto change back to abc...
very very annoying for me.
(see video)

Some other prob is that i am a fast typer and if i type a word too fast the keyboard displays not the correct t9 word. If i type the same word again slow it works great.
But thats much more annoying!
Some one with same problem?
Ive tried the performace.exe and pushed speed to 620mhz, that helped a little but still sucks at fast typing.

Having issues with qwerty keyboard

For some reason, whenever I go into Opera Internet browser, as of last night, I can only type 1 letter before it acts like I stopped typing. The touch screen keyboard works fine. I can type SMS with the qwerty keyboard no problem. Only when I go in to Opera does it do this. Any suggestions?
that would be an opera qwerty keyboard issue if the problem is on there
never had the issue myself so if I were you it's try another version of opera

physical keyboard not working with opera

Hi all
I have been having an issue with my X1i while I am using Opera.
Whenever I select a text box that I can type in the onscreen keyboard pops up and I am able to type. However I prefer to use the physical keyboard and shortly after typing a few letters the onscreen keyboard vanishes and the text box is unselected so I can't type in it anymore.
I am running opera mobile 9.5 build 1938 and I have got flashlite 3.1 installed and working properly I have tried using various builds of opera but the problem persists.
If anyone has had this problem could you please tell me how you fixed it.
Thanks
