Glass or plastic - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

hello there, i have a discussion with a friend here about the Htc diamond screen
is it glass og plastic ?
greets buusgug

It's glass.

Hi,
It's Plastic
BYE, Bobo

It's glass and plastic.

Just to add yet another unfounded statement: it's glass _or_ plastic
Now we should have the basic boolean statements?
Edit: yes, I know my statement wasn't helpful in any way - I just wanted to point out that all three previous replies together don't make up for a better answer that mine does ;-P Meaning: please do only state things for facts if you are _absolutely_ sure - everything else will look alien to newcomers and scare people away.
My 2 cents,
Alex

Plastic :-(

Actually, the screen of the Diamond goes like this (from top to bottom):
1. Touch surface.
2. Tempered glass.
3. LCD.
The reference is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDS5BKkmoTM

OK the RIGHT ANSWER is:
The Screen is glass and for the touchsensetive part of it there is a ultrathin plasticmembrane on the glass.
hope all questions are answered!

Which is the best screen protector for Xperia?

Hello guys, i've bought 2 screen protectors for my Xperia but both are crappy! Within the first day the screen protectors are full of scratches by the use of the stick.
Which one should i buy so i won't have the scratches issue?
Cheers,
Bill
Been there too. The Boxwave Cleartouch screen protector is awesome, and most likely the best. Next would be Martin Fields.
Goto http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouchcrystal/cleartouch-crystal-screen-protector-sony-ericsson-xperia-x1_3351.htm
Just don't buy reflective screen protectors. These scratch bad.
Thanks you guys, 99% i will buy the Boxwave ones. I hope they will send to Greece.
the martin fields one is hella sweet
In 3 days, my Martin fields is horrible ! TOTALLY full of scratches !
i've not used those brands before but read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3843133#post3843133
also touch response is no different with clear-coat fitted
I'd ratha cover my SEX1 baby and prevent her from getting "knocked up"

Does the xperia screen have scratch resistant technology?
i doubt it very much not many resistive touch screens do
I have the martin fields too and it scratches and smudges really easily, anyone have any suggestions for one that doesn't smudge? thats what I'm looking for the most. Anyone tried the boxwave antiglare?

Ι have ordered the Boxwave ones, they've been sent at 26/05, as soon as i've got them here in Greece i will let you know.
I should have bought these at the beginning. There is no point doing it now. I already scratched it badly .
Today received the Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal. Hope till the night will share the appropriate feedbach.
i think clear screen protectors don't have any smudge resistance, only the antiglare ones do. Can anyone verify?
the clear coat protector smudges slightly but is awesome scratch protection! and doesn't scratch itself

I have the same protector (from Amazon). It works great and the lens protectors are good too. if the Ebay one is the same then I'd say that's the one you want.
I had one HTC rep say with conviction (I asked like 5 times in 3 different ways...) that there was no coating or film or treatment on the camera lens...validity is up in the air...I think it's just a by product of manufacturing processes.
I know for diving masks, you HAVE to clean the glass on the inside (usually suggested is gritty toothpaste), otherwise, anti-fog solutions that are applied will not work at all. Best I can gather, it's a film that makes handling the glass by machines easier. Wonder if that's what it is....
It certainly hasn't been doing any sort of scratch protection. It wipes off...so it's not like it was stopping hard particles or anything...
I ordered the screen and lends protector from the above link I'll post if the results are good or not . Also about the coating I heard it's a thin protection and also for glare when taking photos. Idk what's true or not just read a few diff post and that's what I got.

[Q] Any tempered glass back protector?

As the title says, are there any tempered glass screen protectors that cover the back?
I want to know too... I've found several on eBay and Amazon. Anyone have?
i bought this just for the back tempered glass
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111671873223?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
it covers right to the edges, but you can see the edges dont stick down, so slowly im getting dust underneath, im wondering if could get tempered glass slightly less to edges and still sticking down well, as i know others can leave quite a space , is it possible ?
Thanks
Recently. I only see that normal one not the tempered one. But I do want tempered one.
Hi guys,
Sorry to revive an old thread but I've been looking for a decent tempered glass protection for the BACK of my galaxy s6 edge for a while.
Has anyone found one which does protects to the edge but not lift? A lot of the ones I have seen online have huge gaps from the edges which I don't think looks great...
I am keeping my eye on the 3rd gen for the front glass..... :good:
thanks!

Judging by the lack of replies I'm guessing there are not many good solutions out there.
If this is the case can anyone recommend a wet install / film which does not produce the orange peel affect on the back?
Thanks again!

problem with no gap the edges wont stick on good and will just generate dust etc all around edges, if you could get one that just leaves just enough gap so it sticks on well and no worry about dirt, dust

Yes that's what i'm after, not too much gap and not too little gap if you know what I mean :cyclops:
I bought it on amazon, and the protector arrived on yesterday, i think i paid a low price and get a good stuff.
There is the link
Just to update with my purchase... its the one with gaps on the sides. It's pretty big gaps for my liking too so it's a no go.

[Q] Screen & Rear Glass Easily Scratched?

Can someone please help confirm/deny something? I’ve just read a troubling review which suggests that the screen and the camera glass are very easily scratched.
http://www.gsmarena.com/six_weeks_with_the_huawei_p9-blog-18453.php
Can anyone back this up? I am not worried about his other negatives, as I think this can be fixed with customising & tweaking (who would need XDA if all phones were perfect?!) but this issue might be a deal breaker. The curved edges of this screen usually mean screen protectors can’t go right up to the edge, making them very visible and unsightly on a screen like this.
How are people finding it?
Update 01.06.2016: I asked Corning if they have their Gorilla Glass on the P9, and they have just responded stating that due to NDA with various contracts, they are not allowed to identify all the devices that have this glass. Interesting. This is neither a yes or a no. They advised that I ask Huawei, so I have just e-mailed them the query. Will update with the response.
I have a P9 from eight days, not a single scratch on the display or the camera glass cover.
PS: This so called review is not even close to review. This is just gibberish. The guy is in love with his iphone.
Definite iphone fanboy
Funny how all other reviews say the P9 does have Gorilla glass!

I think you are both being a little unfair to him. A fanboy wouldn't even try another Android phone. Did you even read his main review? He lists all the flaws of the iPhone fairly. But we are getting off-topic.
This phone is NOT on the list of devices fitted with Gorilla Glass, and I have read many reviews on this device with factual errors cropping up in several of them.
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/en/products-with-gorilla/huawei
But again, this is not what I am asking. I have managed to scratch Gorilla glass before, as have many other people.
I am asking have people had this phone naked for a few weeks and managed to scratch it even when being careful?
You may ask Corning to update thier webpage.
I've had mine for three weeks. No case or protector (haven't found one that fits because of the curved screen). The screen and the metal back look fine, but I have one scratch near one of the lenses. The black part that covers the camera does not look like Gorilla Glass to me.
I watched or read a review which stated that it does get some hairline scratches quite easily, just with every day use. I cannot link you so I am sorry. I have had mine for about a week and it seems okay at the moment, but due to the review I have been a little more mindful than I usually am. I don't like cases so I have ordered a dbrand skin, and a slim hard rubber feel case. Shame as the phone feels amazing naked - same as me.

OK thank you for the feedback. Guess I'll have to entertain the idea of a case/skin too.

I'll....I'll have to take your word on that! Thanks!
I've had the phone for 2-3 weeks and I do have a small, hairline scratch on the screen. It's not very deep, and only visible under certain light, but it is there. I was very surprised to find it since I never put my phone in my pocket with keys, coins or anything like that.

OK thank you for the feedback. You'd be amazed how easily a little bit of grit can get in your pocket and cause havoc. It is looking like this may need some sort of skin & screen protector combo.
Its not putting me off! I'm still getting this phone in a month when my contract runs out.

I also have the same hairline scratch that I notice on my first week of using the phone. I have had nothing since, however it's a little disconcerting as I even bought the Huawei Watch and I await for those to start showing on that.

LG G4 and LG G5 also are not in the Corning's list for devices, covered with Gorilla glass, but they have it.
As regards the reviews... My experience is the only thing that matters for me.
This kind of thread exists for every new smartphone it's glass. Glass gets scratched and or shattered pretty easily no matter if it's gorilla or some other brand. To be on the safe side just use a case or something.

Question Damaged screen

After a fews days my new Redmi 10 pro developed a "bubble" on the touch screen. It appears as if something was stuck between the Amoled membrane and the protective glass. The phone was replaced by the retailer. Within 3 days, the same thing has happened on the new phone, in a slightly different place. Ivan now feel a smooth bump on the glass. Has anyone else experienced this manufacturing fault? Is it repairable?
imho that is the screenprotector which is delivered with the phone.
Look carefully at the edges.

Thanks, I wish that were the case. I have taken off the plastic foil that came with the new phone and now it's just the glass. There is about a 0.5mm rim around the screen at the edge of the glass.

Under that foil is imho a soft screenprotector.
With mine, besides a bubble, I see some air at one edge, which I can rub away (temporary)
My reaction was the same as yours, till I readed this review
Huh, well I'll be damned! Problem solved, its crap under a cruddy screen protector they don't tell you about! Problem solved. Thankyou Elinx.
