Question Damaged screen - Redmi Note 10 Pro

After a fews days my new Redmi 10 pro developed a "bubble" on the touch screen. It appears as if something was stuck between the Amoled membrane and the protective glass. The phone was replaced by the retailer. Within 3 days, the same thing has happened on the new phone, in a slightly different place. Ivan now feel a smooth bump on the glass. Has anyone else experienced this manufacturing fault? Is it repairable?

imho that is the screenprotector which is delivered with the phone.
Look carefully at the edges.

Thanks, I wish that were the case. I have taken off the plastic foil that came with the new phone and now it's just the glass. There is about a 0.5mm rim around the screen at the edge of the glass.

Under that foil is imho a soft screenprotector.
With mine, besides a bubble, I see some air at one edge, which I can rub away (temporary)
My reaction was the same as yours, till I readed this review

Huh, well I'll be damned! Problem solved, its crap under a cruddy screen protector they don't tell you about! Problem solved. Thankyou Elinx.

Defect?

Got my 1+ on December 28. I also bought a junk tempered glass screen protector from 1+. So I had to take off the OEM screen protector to put on the new one. Didn't fit. The edges would not stick to the screen. Called them and they said it was a human error when installing. They didn't even want to try and look at it by photos. So I had to take it off. Fast forward to yesterday. I was scrolling on the left side of the screen up and down. I felt something like lint. So I did what anybody would do. Wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. As soon as I started scrolling again I felt it again. Like a tiny bead or something. Then at an angle with really good lighting I saw scratches. Of course I Google it and turns out some people have this problem. But I don't want to just forget about it since it is less than a month old. Contact support opened a ticket and they are saying I need to pay for the repair and shipping and possibly labor and more. Let me know what you guys think.
It just looks like normal screen scratches to me. If the glass screen protector wasn't a good quality one, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if that somehow caused the scratches. I'm not saying that that is definitely what caused it, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I've also gotten some explainable scratches (well, a big scratch) and it's not like a normal one.....how/when it's visible is weird to what I'm used to seeing on phones, but I never really have gotten a scratch on a personal phone in years, so maybe this is how most scratches start out, and I've only seen scratches once they worsen....
Either way, something is up with this it feels like. Would be cool to see if anyone else has issues with way-too-easy scratching, since the OP3 didn't have the issue, maybe they changed something from the 3 to the 3t. It could also be the screen protector.....but nothing on that should have scratched your phone like it did...
I had the same problem with the ****ty screeprotector from 1+..
It didn't stick at the edges... They told me, I did it wrong..
Pffffff, I know, I did it right. Not my first phone or Tab
Now I don't have any protection at my screen. I'll report.....

Not going to convince myself that it is normal when I other devices that I have had have never done this especially only having it for less than a month. As soon as I finished my call about the screen protector I took it off. Max time was maybe 30 minutes on the phone. I wish I would have kept the original one on.

Yes something is up. Some of op3 have said they had the issue. Plus it's a gorrilla glass 4. And YouTube stress test by Jerry rig aka Zach put it through heavy scratch test without the screen protector of course.

Yea this isn't my first rodeo either on installing screen protector. Pretty much they told us we is dumb.
My question is would you pay 69 and that is there quote to fix it or just slap a screen protector on and be done with it?
The problem is to find a good protector..
The display is curved. And most protectors are smaller then the screen or they don't stick...

Yes there is a pre applied screen protector the film type. I would just keep that on if I knew what I know now I would never have changed it. I have went through 3 glass ones including the one on 1+ website and all have done the same won't apply to the edges. The only one that will apply well is the film type skins. And yes the video does show how it fits. But how many did they have to do till the right one? If you bought from 1+ just don't open it and just return it. They won't take it back if opened and it's been 24hrs. Lessoned learned on my end.
Edit. And no the glass didn't scratch the screen. I think it's a coating of some type coming off. Because it's not deep you can't feel it. Just see it at an angle under bright light.

I can live with it not covering the screen 100%. Its just what we have to deal with ever since apples iPhone 6 had 2.5D glass. Tempered glass screen protector wont fit no devide with 2.5D glass or 3D glass (s7 edge) its just to costly to manufacture. I will probably return it. Might keep it though never had a problem with tempered glass screen protector they are the best! Never have smudges and they clean up soo easy and look so smooth. What scratched your screen friend?

Finally a proper fitting glass screen protector.

I have tried many and finally found one that actually fits. Until now the best one I have seen is the non glass protector made by Skinobi (for those that like plastic ones use it). However in the glass department they all sucked. The Qoosea one fit but it's about as cheap as you can get construction wise. It's curved but it only has a small amount of basic adhesive along the edges. So basically pocket lint can get under the screen and get stuck there. Also since it doesn't fully sit on the screen sometimes using the screen itself can be a hassle due to poor touch detection. Well all I can say is thank god Top Ace came out with one recently and actually got it right.
It's curved glass, plenty of adhesive on the side that counts and by god it actually fits perfectly. Things line up where they are supposed too. Anyway figured this deserved it's own post since finding a glass protector for this phone can be a pita at times due to the curved edges. Posted a link below, hope it helps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3MZQTK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got mine yesterday and I can confirm that yes, this one actually fits great. I bought 2 in case they don't make them anymore when the first one eventually breaks.
From the pictures and one of the latest reviews it looks like this screen protector covers up the light sensor. Are there any completely clear screen protectors that fully covers the front?
Just read one of the comment said it covers the sensor that the phone is unable to turn on the screen automatically during a call when you put it away from your face. Anyone can confirm it?
I bought one on Ebay and it arrived and had curvy edges, but the idiots had sent me one for the full-size Xperia X even though it was in a packet marked X Compact. Way too big. Now I have to fight for a refund.

Mine had the sensor cut out and everything was right where it was supposed to be. Maybe he got the wrong one not sure. I went with the black one and it was fine.

Anyone know of a UK source for these or a seller who will post to the UK on Ebay/Aliexpress etc?
I too bought one that only sticks to the edge of the phone and it's already got a piece of dust underneath it! I love being able to swipe from the edge with the curved edges and I love the longevity of glass screen protectors, but it's horrible to use as it's just floating a bit off the surface of the phone and makes a click noise/feel when I tap. I asked a load of Ebay sellers and they all said their glass curved screen protectors only stick around the edge of the phone.
Thanks.
Hi,
I found this one on Devilscase when I checked the Aluminium bumber.
http://www.twdevilcase.com/en/index.php?menu=prod_detail&mid=21&did=7&pid=5258&list=class It's curved and seems to have the adhesive on the full screen (except the edges).
Did anyone tried it already out?
Cheers from Erfurt/Germany

Based on them saying all over the website "Please be noted the adhesive is visible on the edge of CURVED Glass Protector" I imagine these ones only have glue on the edges too.
If anyone is wondering, I've attached a photo of what happens if you use a generic glass Ebay curved screen protector that only has glue on the very edges for a fortnight! Lots of dust has crept in through the speaker holes etc - the white dots showing are all dust UNDER the screen protector. I'm going to buy a plastic one that will stick properly.
I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8XMXGB
Seems like it just ran out of stock though.
edit: I asked the seller and they said they will not restock it, so I guess this will be the last time you'll see it.

I did. I paired it with the aluminum bumper and while the bumper is top quality as usual with devilcase products, I can't say the same for the screen protector.
The screen protector does fit perfectly but it collects dust behind it after few weeks and the responsiveness and consistency of the touchscreen are compromised.
I've been looking for an alternative to buy in Europe but found none. Topace is not an option as is in stock only on Amazon USA. If anyone has suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem and got refunded. Ordered from different seller and got the correct sized one. The item itself is bad. It feels plastic, touch is not always responsive and swipe gesture for opening menu drawer is hard. I need to really press the edge before doing the slide. Screen feel more distance and it feels there are separation between the protector and the screen.
I replaced it with a generic plastic screen protector which actually feels better, easier to make slide gesture, seems more seamless. The ebay curved screen protector is really that bad. I am going to keep using the plastic one and cut a new one to fit it more properly. I also need to check how to prevent it is being lifted up accidentally from the dangling side. I can stand the dust on the dangling side, but i hate when it is lifted up and the lint is actually below the screen protector.
My experience
This is the reference for my second e-bay cover it does not have dust and has lasted much longer than my first that did.
My recollection is that there is adhesive everywhere.

No. You are wrong. I bought one based on your recommendation and it's just another rubbish one that only only has glue in thin strip round the edges that will allow dust to creep in the speaker/camera holes and scratch the screen. More negative feedback to leave!
Why do not manufacturers produce a curved screen protector that's made properly!?! The glue can't be that expensive! [emoji36]

Oneplus official silicone case problem

The case attracts a lot of dust whenever I put it in my pocket. I used it for a little bit before the dust problem got really annoying and i bought another tpu case on amazon. Any fixes for the dust problem? I really love the feel of the case and the cutouts are better than the TPU so I want to use it.
Me too facing the same problem, but I have lost that cover. Any idea where to find the official one? It is not available on the website.
hey guys is it true that case is responsible for some negative effect on the matte finish?the matte finish is coming off after using it for around 2-3 weeks?
I've just got the phone this week and I've ordered a ringke onyx case for the phone. I think its best to stay away from the offical case that comes with the phone just to be on the safe side as some users here experienced paint chipping after using the case provided inside the box.
I got the 5t the day it came out and used that stock Silicon case for about 2 months without any sign of paint chipping. It did collect dust like a vacuum. I got 4-5 cases on AliExpress for under $5 each and they too have dust problems. the one I use has a clear plastic back, so I can see it all of the time.
Did drop my phone today and scratched the stock film cover. Pulled it back and it didn't damage the screen, but now I get to research the best film screen, since the last time I researched it, there was no good tempered glass one that didn't have issues

I primarily use this case, and without getting a ruler out, there is about 1/16" on the top of bottom and about 1/32" on the sides with the stock film. (or as much as the coverage past the screen of the stock film)
Ironically, the first link for topace on amazon is a film, not a glass and the glass product has 1 poor review.

The way they did the curved screen on both OP5 Models made nearly all glass screen protectors on the market not very good at fitting. Even the official ones from Oneplus themselves were whack. I tried loads. Best of a bad bunch were the orzly ones, but even those weren't perfect. The phone itself just makes it impossible.

Yes, from what I had read, the orzly and NILLKIN were the best glass, but the edges were the issue.
I used to have some various cheap glass protectors on my S4 and never had the issues people are noting on the various glass protectors for the 5t - reduced touch sensitivity, rainbow effect, hot spots, etc
Honestly, though I have gotten descent at installing screen protectors, I despise putting them on and getting everything perfect, so I am trying to do as much research before hand, so hopefully I only have to do it once.
I got the OnePlus glass when I got the phone, but read the initial reviews and had planned just to keep the stock film on, as it seemed to be doing a good job until I dropped in in the backyard and damaged the film about 1" down and 1" in from the right.

Yes, there's definitely no ideal way to do it. This is why I personally prefer the flat screened phones, as they have none of these issues.
Pity in a way that curved screen phones have become a fad this past year. Last decent looking one that I was tempted to get was the Razer Phone for gaming. (That one's completely flat screen, and generally looked like quite a decent smartphone for alot of other reasons too). It's been out for a while though now, and haven't got round to it yet, but I still might. In the meantime, I'll just struggle on with my OnePlus until it dies (or more likely, 'til my screen breaks!) haha
sorry to hear about you dropping yours though,. that must've been harsh. was it just the film that got damaged, or did any of the actual device's screen underneath get hit?

Yea, about 4ft drop when pushing my kids in the swing to the dirt and debris that settled under the leaves (that I had just moved so they could use the swing for the first time this year.
I was trying to take pictures of them and dropped it
I dug my finger under the corner and peeled back the screen protector past the damage and the screen was clear. It's almost like a rock dug up the surface of the film

Phew! That was close! (it's always a bit unsettling when you see the cracks in a screen protector). With protectors also being transparent, at first it often looks like it's gone right through to the actual screen, until the moment of truth when you remove it afterwards.. (I've had a few scares like that in my time! So I feel ya!) But is a satisfying feeling of relief when you pull the protector off and everything looks good as new underneath.
Anyways, glad you got lucky that time aswell! So far so good!
after 2 months my phone is completely ruined by this case. I should have changed the case earlier.

How scratch resistant is it? Do you use a case?

Hey people, I was wondering: how does it hold up against scratches? I have the blue, with the ridged back, but so far afraid to use it without a case... How do you use yours? Does is scratch easily? What about the screen?

I feel the same way. Unfortunately. I am curious about the back though...
Back seems to hold up (maybe non touch sensitive glass is easier to make scratch resistant) the front 2 scratches in the first week... And I used a soft pouch until proper accessories come out.
Got a skin on the back and a crappy plastic screen protector for now.

I do wonder though, if it scratches the olephobic coating or the actual glass is scratched. A colleague of mine has the s7 until last week without a protector and said screen was always perfect. But it got fingerprinty as hell.
Wonder if one of those nano liquid coatings would smooth it out. I have accidental damage insurance so if that works I would rid of the scratches with that.
You might have a point there with the coating. I have noticed that as well on my samsung phones.
I tried that nano liquid, but havent noticed much diferrence though.
I've tried several screen protectors and they all stop fingerprint recognition working!

I guess I got lucky. I got a case and a tempered glass screen protector for free with my purchase in Taiwan. Finger print scanner works perfect. I should have checked what the brand was. It was a flagship Huawei store, so obviously they knew what they were putting on there.

See...that it why they buy iphone or smsng, cause they dont mess up important stuff... You mean the glass ones? Or the foils?
I am challenging those that think Mate 20 Pro uses Gorilla Glass (I have read the 1 or 2 reviews that state this), and it's not listed in the Gorilla Glass website. Also worried about scratches I reached out to Huawei AU and received the following:
To answer your inquiry, this phone uses aluminosilicate glass for both front and back which is also Scratch resistant and is composed of aluminum, oxygen, silicon, and several other positively charged ions.

I am seeing the above noted comments and "scratch resistant" or not, it's obvious this phone needs a case and screen protector.
I wish it had Gorilla Glass 6!

Scratches on camera lens

Got this phone for few weeks now and just noticed that i got scratches on the camera lens cover. I mean few weeks, really?! with case on and not placed together with any sharp objects. It's so annoying, my P10 plus is way more durable than this phone. Anyone having the same issue?.

I have the same scratches plus a huge one(fingernail size) on the screen. Am a bit disappointed on how easy is to scratch the phone... .
Been using since day one and there's not a scratch in sight both front and back.

I have 2 scratches on the screen too!! I’m so angry, had to buy a tempered glass...1k€ and scratched after 10 days :crying: so annoying.
Camera seems to be still ok, but I’ve bought a protector for it too (will get it next month).
No scratches here, and no protectors

I feel you. The phone price is premium so we deserve high quality build phone which is clearly not the case here.

The camera lens sticks out quite a bit. Have seen several phones like Samsung and Apple with cracked rear camera lens pieces, so I know better about that area. According to one source, they use aluminosilicate glass. Although the glass may not be exactly Gorilla Glass, Gorilla Glass itself is also aluminosilicate glass. Huawei's glass is likely a different chemical composition. The phone is the slipperiest I've ever encountered, my number one dislike about it.
There are no scratches in my situation. No case or protection has been used. Dislike cases and front tempered glass pieces. In general, careful which surfaces I lay the phone on and how I hold it. Have seen it sliding off uneven surfaces with too much ease.
Thanks for the warnings. I ordered a film protector for the curved screen and a tempered glass protector for the camera with the phone.
Isnt the screen a gorilla glass? I never dropped my phone and still Ive got a scratch on the bottom right corner of my screen. I could run my nail across it to feel the crack. Maybe it got scratched with a key or a coin. F***ng ridiculous. Never happened to any of my previous phones. I seriously doubt the quality now.
