The case attracts a lot of dust whenever I put it in my pocket. I used it for a little bit before the dust problem got really annoying and i bought another tpu case on amazon. Any fixes for the dust problem? I really love the feel of the case and the cutouts are better than the TPU so I want to use it.
Me too facing the same problem, but I have lost that cover. Any idea where to find the official one? It is not available on the website.
hey guys is it true that case is responsible for some negative effect on the matte finish?the matte finish is coming off after using it for around 2-3 weeks?
I've just got the phone this week and I've ordered a ringke onyx case for the phone. I think its best to stay away from the offical case that comes with the phone just to be on the safe side as some users here experienced paint chipping after using the case provided inside the box.
I got the 5t the day it came out and used that stock Silicon case for about 2 months without any sign of paint chipping. It did collect dust like a vacuum. I got 4-5 cases on AliExpress for under $5 each and they too have dust problems. the one I use has a clear plastic back, so I can see it all of the time.
Did drop my phone today and scratched the stock film cover. Pulled it back and it didn't damage the screen, but now I get to research the best film screen, since the last time I researched it, there was no good tempered glass one that didn't have issues

I primarily use this case, and without getting a ruler out, there is about 1/16" on the top of bottom and about 1/32" on the sides with the stock film. (or as much as the coverage past the screen of the stock film)
Ironically, the first link for topace on amazon is a film, not a glass and the glass product has 1 poor review.

The way they did the curved screen on both OP5 Models made nearly all glass screen protectors on the market not very good at fitting. Even the official ones from Oneplus themselves were whack. I tried loads. Best of a bad bunch were the orzly ones, but even those weren't perfect. The phone itself just makes it impossible.

Yes, from what I had read, the orzly and NILLKIN were the best glass, but the edges were the issue.
I used to have some various cheap glass protectors on my S4 and never had the issues people are noting on the various glass protectors for the 5t - reduced touch sensitivity, rainbow effect, hot spots, etc
Honestly, though I have gotten descent at installing screen protectors, I despise putting them on and getting everything perfect, so I am trying to do as much research before hand, so hopefully I only have to do it once.
I got the OnePlus glass when I got the phone, but read the initial reviews and had planned just to keep the stock film on, as it seemed to be doing a good job until I dropped in in the backyard and damaged the film about 1" down and 1" in from the right.

Yes, there's definitely no ideal way to do it. This is why I personally prefer the flat screened phones, as they have none of these issues.
Pity in a way that curved screen phones have become a fad this past year. Last decent looking one that I was tempted to get was the Razer Phone for gaming. (That one's completely flat screen, and generally looked like quite a decent smartphone for alot of other reasons too). It's been out for a while though now, and haven't got round to it yet, but I still might. In the meantime, I'll just struggle on with my OnePlus until it dies (or more likely, 'til my screen breaks!) haha
sorry to hear about you dropping yours though,. that must've been harsh. was it just the film that got damaged, or did any of the actual device's screen underneath get hit?

Yea, about 4ft drop when pushing my kids in the swing to the dirt and debris that settled under the leaves (that I had just moved so they could use the swing for the first time this year.
I was trying to take pictures of them and dropped it
I dug my finger under the corner and peeled back the screen protector past the damage and the screen was clear. It's almost like a rock dug up the surface of the film

Phew! That was close! (it's always a bit unsettling when you see the cracks in a screen protector). With protectors also being transparent, at first it often looks like it's gone right through to the actual screen, until the moment of truth when you remove it afterwards.. (I've had a few scares like that in my time! So I feel ya!) But is a satisfying feeling of relief when you pull the protector off and everything looks good as new underneath.
Anyways, glad you got lucky that time aswell! So far so good!
after 2 months my phone is completely ruined by this case. I should have changed the case earlier.

I bought a XOskin screen protector and also their carbon fiber back protector. Used the N10 with the protective film for several days but then removed it. I was thinking about returning the carbon fiber skin beccause it's too smooth compared to the rubberized back of the N10.
After just a few days of usage, what little tackiness the rubberized had is gone and it's fairly slick. I'm not about to clean it with whatever every few days to bring back what little grip it provided. I may slap the carbon fiber skin on after all.
Uh.. I have a hairline scratch in the corner and i still had the factory cover on and babied it. Gorilla glass doesn't protect worth crap.

I decided to raw dog it, too, and see what happens. I've put protectors on every portable device I've had since...well, almost ever. But, when I got a replacement Galaxy Nexus in July, I never got around to putting a protector on the screen. Despite being some off-brand "fortified glass", it's totally unscratched. I take some care to avoid scratching it (nothing else goes in the phone pocket) but I don't carry it in a any kind of case or pouch. Since my Nexus 10 will be treated even more gently (i.e. not living in my pockets), it should be fine without a protector.
If I'm wrong, I'll put a protector on my OLED retina tablet in a couple years.
I've also been using my Galaxy Nexus with "fortified glass" (tempered, but not Corning Gorilla Glass) since the device was released (a year?) with only the 2 part Incipio case that Verizon Wireless sells for it (silicone liner, hard shell around it) - glass completely unprotected. I put the phone in my pocket (pants, shirt, jacket, etc.) every day, use the phone a LOT, have taken it to the beach (generally throw it in a ziplock bag), put it in my backpack, etc, etc. Not single visible scratch on it -- and I'm a stickler for this, as little flaws somehow always manage to grab my attention more than they deserve. Not saying that it's bulletproof by any means - but with reasonable care, my phone with bare glass still looks brand new. The N10 has Gorilla Glass 2 -- again, not impervious, but should hold up quite well to normal wear and tear. I enjoy the bare glass SO much more than the slightly rubbery feel and drag of a protector that it's worth a bit of extra care for me so I can get away with a bare screen.
I have the full body protection. Was a bear to get on, took 2 hours of my time to get all the pieces on and it did not go smoothly. I used to think I was pretty pro at putting wet application protectors on but this is a HUGE device and getting big vinyl film pieces wet and then onto the device without parts folding over and sticking to itself, etc was a night mare. I even messed up the front protector. Loads of bubbles everywhere after over a week. Not BSE's fault at all but I told them of my situation at the same time that I noted my N4 protectors did not have a proximity sensor cut out and they sent me a new full body kit for the n10 for free with my n4 screen protectors. Great customer service!
Can someone who has the full body protector, installed, post some pictures? I would love to see what a device looks like properly installed! I saw the video for XO and they aren't nearly as hard because, well, they aren't really full body protectors. They have one piece that protects the clam shell for the most part in the back but that is it. All corners and sides are completely exposed. Maybe this is good, as there's that nasty edge seem feel from the little individual pieces, but still. If I can't master the full body kit installation this, I'll just rock it with the front screen protector from BSE and order a dry carbon skins back cover from XO. Those dry carbon things are really really easy to install... you can even peel them off and re apply them on another device and it will stay. Loved that type of protector on my Galaxy Nexus. They are not as poor feeling on seams either.
Nevertheless... can someone please post pictures?

When I bought my turbo in October or November, I also bought the "flexible glass screen protector for droid turbo" at the Verizon store. It is a little pricey at about $25, but I really like it. They had to order it for me and it was delivered straight to me.
For what it cost, I took it to them and had one of their employees put the screen on for me. I think he did a pretty nice job of it. I have no complaints, other than the high price. ?
As far as I can tell, it has no scratches on it, but, I try not to treat it rough. Also, it is very hard to see any smudges, etc that I get on it.
It did take me a little while to get used to its edges. If you swipe from the very edge of the phone, you can feel the edge. It kind of catches your finger. I have had no problems using it. At the same time I also bought the "Speck" case from them. I like it as well, but, it is also pricey.
Before this, I always used their belt clip. I do miss that, and, "may" one of these days replace the Speck with it. But, I think the glass screen is so much better than the plastic ones.
I would buy the glass screen again. (my opinion only)

I just received this one today.
Its not bad for the price.
I was just going to start a thread with the glass screen protectors that I've tried and whether it works or not. but just an fyi, I've used the ez guardz, they admitted to their current model having a design flaw; the edges of the screen protector doesn't adhere. Also the Ghostek I just received today has the same issue. There's one more I'm looking at on eBay and I'm going to stay away from the "flexible screen protectors" as those are the ones made by tech21 and I don't like the feel of them.
Sorry. Wrong thread.

Looks like film, I have their screen protector for my moto 360, first batch was over sized, they then sent me the replacements which were a lot better. I may end up going with tempered glass as well for to 360 but at the time none were available but the film ones, except the Spigen which chipped. I'm not too confident with the ones that are available now.

I know that it's a film protector & not tempered glass. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with it. I was also looking at the iVoler tempered glass sold on Amazon
The iVoler is great, with a few minor caveats:
• Follow instructions to the letter, making sure the screen is immaculately clean. Also, wear rubber gloves if possible. Even a minor trace of skin oils will result in spots that refuse to adhere, so be super careful.
• This particular item ships from Shengzhen, China, and takes about three weeks. Order a spare while you're ordering and waiting so ridiculously long for the item to arrive.
Aside from that, it seems to be just the ticket... It's coated, so it feels slick, stays clean and doesn't show fingerprints.
This company finally has one out, I have it on order today.

reporting back from my last purchase.
Tried this TEMPERED GLASS Screen Protector - Slim 0.33mm Super Hardness - Crystal Clear by COVRWARE - picked it up from amazon for $9.97
The glass itself is nice. It feels like the naked screen. It's a 9H and oleophobic. Unforunately the edge adhesive halos. It's cut slightly short of the edges to in an attempt to deal with the 2.5D screen edges.
you don't notice when the screen is on, but yeah it's not a edge to edge performing adhesive. so i've left it on, as i look for a better screen protector.
i'd love to see how that mime screen protector does.

Let me know if the edges stick that's really the only issue with most of them on the market right now. I don't even want to show my phone to others because of the parts of the screen protector that doesn't adhere. Waiting on a replacement for my ghostek, if that's the same then I'm off to trying a different one.
The edges on mine are all good, with the exception of two spots where my fingers made contact with the adhesive. My hands were clean and dry, but it apparently doesn't take much to impact the performance of the adhesive. I'd recommend wearing rubber gloves during application... Other than that, it's a great fit, and covers only the flat (non-rounded) surface of the screen.
Ok got the MIME today, typical package and install. Goes on good does not go the the edge but about like the xtreme one I had installed. This one sticks so far and feels way better slickness wise than the xtreme.

Interesting there's no cut out for the proximity sensor. Have you had any issues during phone calls? Make a phone call, and hold the phone away from your face. Does the screen still go on?
Decided I shouldn't go without a screen protector, looks like the tempered glass ones won't work well because the screen in curved on the edges. Anyone have experience with or can recommend a good one? I often see suggestions on here that I couldn't find on my own and I'm thinking one of you guys can help.
By the way i went with this case:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M15T2I3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
I like it except that the camera and volume buttons aren't cut outs. It fits the phone well.
I appreciate any suggestions.
Same boat as you. The ones offered Amazon all seem to complain about them being too thin, bezel to bezel.
The only one that I have found for the phone that fits properly so far is listed below. It's not glass but works great.

Nillkin has crappy cases for F5321 that offer little more than scratch protection, and you're incessant advertising for them across the all the device boards is obvious, so you can hardly be considered objective. Please go troll your mother and go away. There are people here looking for serious solutions.

I actually purchased the full body coverage kit and it covers everything as well.

I decided to go with the Skinomi as well, put it on my XC yesterday. Very happy with the results, it's been a while since I have used a non-tempered glass screen protector and for some reason I was expecting the touch screen to be hard to use and the experience generally unpleasant. This wasn't the case and it fits perfectly. recommended.
Anyone try one of those 3d glass ones from gcolor on Amazon? They also have this flexible carbon fiber type one too

I saw those but have seen to many negative things about G Color protectors to ever try one out myself. Lots of videos on youtube about them being crap.
I got these ones from ebay and they're a perfect fit. Quite easy to apply and cover right to the edge of the curved screen.
Worthwhile watching the video before starting. It's been on a few weeks now and no finger marks and the feel is good

I ordered one of those g color protectors yesterday. I'll be that guy that tests it. Should get it sunday. If its moot I'll try that skinomi one. I kinda want the skinomi one just for the rear protector.
edit: Ok got it in yesterday. Packaging was nice and it came with the normal included things. Putting it on was kind of a pain in the ass. This was mostly contributed to the curved screen but it is doable with some patience. I messed up putting it on the first time and lifted it up gently and repositioned it. The adhesive was just as sticky as the first time so there is room for error. I have a cheap jelly case off amazon on it currently until my devil case comes in from overseas but it does not have any conflict with the screen protector as long as you get it on next to perfect.
Clarity is good except for one small small detail and another really annoying detail. The small detail is you can see a line around the boarder between the glass and the "carbon fiber". While annoying I can understand that it's 2 different materials and I don't see how you couldn't have that problem. The really annoying one is it cuts off some pixels on both sides of the screen. It isn't really noticeable until i use reddit sync which then when viewing the comments it becomes apparent. It kinda irritates me but for the moment I'd rather have a couple of blocked off pixels then the screen exposed.
I give it a 6/10 mostly because of the cut off pixels. If it wasn't for that my initial rating would be more of a 8 or a 9/10. I will comment later on down the road if I experience the adhesive pulling up.

Lol, I am positive I saw your review on Amazon when I left mine (we also have the same case). Anyhow, although I disagree with the installation, I agree with everything else. Installation for me was slightly confusing, but really easy once I understood what to do. Air bubbles were a pain to get out, but that's to be expected. As for the quality, it's perfectly fine except for your two points. Mostly your second point: the pixel cutoff. While definitely bearable and not very noticeable most of the time, in certain apps it really is irritatingly noticeable. I would have to recommend against getting this screen protector and waiting until a better one comes out. I'm keeping it on until I find a really good case and/or a better glass screen protector.
Has anyone tried the Nillkin "Amazing H tempered glass screen protector"? Would really like to know if it's any good because I enjoy their frosted case.
Looks like Devilcase now offers a curved glass screen protector: http://www.twdevilcase.com/en/index.php?menu=prod_detail&mid=21&did=7&pid=5280&list=class
BTW, their case for this phone is really thick. Not as stylish as their early, asymmetrical cases :/

This is not great, but is the best I've found so far. It's not got perfect adhesion on the edges, but I've tried the super soft screen protector, flat glass and curved glass with glue only on the edges so dirt gets under it. I'd love to find a curved glass one that has glue all over it instead of just a tiny but around the edges.
I'm also looking for a curved screen protector that "glues" properly (direct contact) to the entire screen, not just the edges.
It doesn't have to be tempered glass either, simple cheap TPU would work fine.
The ebay one mentioned above doesn't ship outside of UK, so it's no good for me.

I have a problem with that screen protector, it turns proximity sensor always on, so you can't access the phone in call.
When I removed the devilcase curved glass screen protector, the proximity sensor starts to work again.
Seems that roxfit screen protector has similar issue.

Hi folk,
With another OnePlus product comes another OnePlus attempt at making a tempered glass screen protector which works for it. Will it be this time that is the magic attempt?
If you dont want to or can't watch the video here are my thoughts:
Yes, they seem to have finally made a tempered glass which fits perfectly on the screen without much cut off. I say much as I think there is still a tiny cut off, but it's nowhere near as noticeable as it was on the 3/3t or 5. If you want to take a look, its on the video at around the 4:04 mark.
The quality is excellent, you can barely feel or see that it's there. There are no sharp edges as the screen tapers off at the edge. It's a full glue screen protector so there is no dot matrix or rainbox effects. You do however have to be fairly careful whilst applying it and taking it off its bed as it feels like it could snap fairly easy if you rush it.
Pros:
Good fit
Feels premium
No dot matrix
No rainbox effect
Cons:
Pricey
Could break easily whilst installing
On the pricey mark, if OP have managed to make this perfect this time, I'd expect third party manufacturers to release a similar product soon at a cheaper price. So if you want to wait and do that I wouldn't blame you.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Jono
Thanks for that, good to know as I ordered one with my 5T.
Hopefully there is a decent bunch of 3rd party ones too.
A spigen tempered glass is my all time favorite screen guard.

Thanks for this. I wanted to know how much it will cut of the screen but its much lesser than earlier.
But i need to disagree something with you. You (and many others) said it was issue etc. on OP3/3T/5 what last TGSP cutted off screen. Well it wasnt really issue or fault on Oneplus side. They needed to choose to have adhesives only on sides and no cut-off or adhesives on fully but had to cut-off. That was because of OP3/3T/5 front glass design where glass started ro bend (2.5D) earlier than usual. Thats why black borders was bigger as otherwise you would get ugly halo's and nobody likes that.
About price. Dont know where you leave but here in Finland 20€ price is nearly cheapest TGSP avaible here. Usually TGSP's here costs around 25-50€ depending of phone model so 20€ is more than just normal price for us. So okay maybe its little pricey compared ro your country but on many others it isnt.
This is my first OP device so I know nothing about past issues, but this is by far the best fitting, best sealing TGSP I have ever installed. Typically with screen protectors the edges do not want to seal/stick but the squeegee made quick work of getting all the bubbles out. There are a few pieces of inevitable lint but not one single bubble.
It does cut a tiny bit of the screen off which gives a weird depth to the screens appearance so for that I give it 9/10. If it was totally clear or just had the black at the top and bottom it would be 10/10 for sure.

I'm using the original one and is perfect with the original case/Bumper.
Mine is not so perfect and the screen is slightly cover on the edge. is not a huge problem, but is noticeble if you see the phone from a side.
in any case is far better than the original plastic protector and perfect with a case.

It works with all the official cases you can get from OnePlus and I see no reason to why it wouldn't work with a standard TPU. Will let you know more when I get some cases.

Because of edge alignment, it doesn't work on the OP5, so I'll order only if it's going to work with tpu case i got.

Does anyone notice that the display looks a little grainy with the OnePlus tempered glass? I haven't used the phone without the protector, so I'm not too sure if it's the protector or the display that is a little grainy.

I just removed the protector to see how the screen looks naked. The "grainy-ness" is gone. I also noticed a potential problem with the protector. The adhesive doesn't go all the way to the top or bottom of the protector, so when I removed it I found a lot of dust stuck to the top and bottom bezel of the phone. This could cause scratches. Even though the scratches would not be on the display, I don't want scratches anywhere on the glass. If I keep this phone I'll try an IQshield.
With the bubbles settling behind, a lot of little dust has been captured.
I also notice grainy-ness. I'm likely going to ditch it and just go naked...
I just got my for 10€. And yes, it still crops a bit from both sides but not like OP3/3T/5. And yes, there is grainy-ness as stated above. You cant notice on black background but on white yes.
I bought the '5T full scratch protection' bundle with my phone. I have an unopened "3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector" and an opened (but unused) "Sandstone Protective Case". My plan was going to be to use the case until Spigen comes out with a 5T case, but I just decided to rock the case that came with my 5T instead.

To be frank I wouldn't have noticed the grainy screen till I read your comment. But now that I've read it.... The screen protector does induce the grainy effect. It's a perfect fit imho, though it definitely does give out that grainy effect. I'm guessing I'll stop noticing it in a couple of days time.
I had an extra IQshield (wet apply) protector for a Pixel 2 XL. I cut a little off the top and it fit fine. I must say, the IQshield is very clear, no grainy screen for me.
I have to put my 2 cents in on this. The official tempered glass is pretty great. I had no issue installing, it stayed in place, zero bubble at all, and feels great. using it with the official sandstone case.
It seems like there are quite a lot reviews saying because of the curved screen, there is adhesive only at the edge so some people say there are issues with dust getting into the center part and reflection issues.
So is plastic films a better option?
If not, is there a brand that is found to work with XZ1?
Thanks

Plastic is fine to avoid scratches but avoid breakage. Glass is fine to avoid scratches and breakage. My phone(s) slipped out of my hand or fall down for other reasons, till now only the glass protector was broken not the screen.

Seems there is a full glue but plain screen protector from nillkin. This protector saved 2 times the screen of my wifes xz.
seems that on sony mobile forum an user found it tricky

Buy a glass one that is full coverage, and use LOCA glue for it. I personally bought "Screen Protector for Sony Xperia XZ1, Olycism Full Coverage" and "Octopus Glue - Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive (LOCA)" and it looks perfect (except for a tiny bubble which I would have removed, but sadly I didn't notice it until after the glue cured. As for the glue itself, you need around 1.5 milliliters of it. Just make sure you don't put more than 1.5 milliliters or you might end up with glue inside the earpiece.
Do you have any pictures of that?

Sorry for the very late (1 month late) reply, I don't come here often. Excuse the terrible quality, as these were taken using my Nexus 4 from 2012:
https://imgur.com/a/nwq3a
Notice how the Sony logo is hard to see and much whiter than the surrounding area, that is because I didn't apply LOCA glue to the logo just in case it leaked into the earpiece. If you do use LOCA glue make sure you don't overdo it because if it gets into the earpiece you're basically screwed.
I've tried over 4 different tempered glass protectors and 3 of them still had the adhesive side issues (not fully placed on the side so it leaves an "unadhesived" portion all around the sides). The one that completely covered everything was the Dooqi Full Curved 3D one previously reviewed here BUT there is a visible rainbow colored spot in the middle that doesn't go away. The 3 I've tried were the Nillkin H+PRO, Khaos Tempered Glass 6-pack and regular Dooqi Premium Tempered Glass. This is just hopeless finding a good tempered glass protector. I don't really want regular screen film or the hassle of having to use glue on the protector

I tried only one from Moodie full cover curved (German brand). Probably rebranded Dooqi, cause same as yours it's full covered but rainbow spots. And the screen seems dull, oleophobic is non existent. So I'm looking for the best one and on Sonymobile forum, someone recommended Japanese brands Deff and Rasta Banana. Found one review about Deff on Amazon.jp. But only one star. Well, kinda a relieve cause ordering international seems complicated. Rasta Banana review is on a Chinese site. But it seems more like product advertising.
On reddit xperia I stumbled on a Youtube review, presumably the best xz premium screen protector. The guy says he tried many screen protectors too.
There is a xz1 version too. But it uses custom adhesive. Not sure about it, but tutorial looks very easy and from the comments it's easy to remove too. It's from InvisShield.
I'll give it a shot or there is another full curved from Brando Workshop. But not sure if I won't get the rainbow spots again. I hate to get the same one lol.

I don't understand why you two keep doing the same thing over and over, stop buying those types of protectors already. What you need to do is either buy one of these:
http://www.sgfreshidea.com/invisshi...1-full-adhesive-tempered-glass-clear-set.html
Or if you're brave enough like me, buy your own LOCA glue and 'curved' glass screen protector and apply it yourself. My application came out perfectly, as you can see with these blurry pictures:
