Hi,
I'm wondering about Opera's 9.5 browser's capabilities to display flash content on Diamond phone.
I played around with my phone and installed some Flash player 7 plugin. After I removed it and browsed pages with flash content via Opera Mobile the flash content was not displayed at all.
I havent tried to browse flash pages or didn't payed any attention to it before installing that flash 7 thing.
So what should it be by default? Shold Opera Mobile 9.5 display flash content (heard about Flash Lite 3.0 support or something) or no.
When I installed back Flash 7 plugin Opera started to display some flash content. I was able to go to for example miniclip.com and it loaded some game called Aqua Energizer...(controls didn't worked as Diamond do not have keyboard)...but some newer games...probably Flash 8 or 9 were not displayed at all as well as for example if I went to page deviantart.com or adobe.com, the page loaded with some text at top and bottom or on sides but no content at the middle, just almost blank page.
So did I disabled some capabilities of Opera by installing that Flash player or it is working as it should?
Thank's
With the early Opera that came with the Diamond and Flash 7 I was able to play YouTube and BBC Iplayer (all be it the Iplayer was very slow picture wise the audio was fine) but with the current version of Opera when you try and access any pages with Flash it just crashes back to the Today screen.
I can't say that I tried too many things previously but if you have a newer version of Opera save your time and don't bother trying at the moment.
Thank's
Just to compare could you or somebody try to open deviantart.com and adobe.com with their Daemond and tell me how does the pages look like?
P.S. My Opera's version is 9.5 build 1522

with the iphone if you go on a webpage that has an embeded you tube video then it launches the you tube app and plays. yet opera on the diamomd simply doesnt even show the embed video controls. why?k any way to get it to work?
Because Flash Lite 3.0 (required to run Flash video of the type that Youtube and various others use) is not actually installed in the Diamond.. We only have Flash Lite 2.0 for Windows Mobile so far. Flash Lite 3.0 was released on Symbian OS some time ago, and I know for a fact that Microsoft bought the rights (license) to use the software on WinMo but as to the specifics of that agreement, who knows.
We can only hope and wait, maybe someone else can provide more info.

One step forward - two steps back.
Its really stupid to not have flash enabled browser.
You cant browse half of the internet.
Kind of piss me off to buy a device so expensive and wont handle this simple task.
Thats why i was always against damn flash websites.
But it seems i dont have choice but use the now.
I have downloaded an Adobe Flash Lite program/applicatrion from this site. If I install it on my phone will it allow me to view websites with flash videos on them?
Some people have reported that Flash 7 for PPC works - others have said not.
Flash Lite 3 AKU will be brought out by Microsoft later this year apparently, alongside a new version of IE. It will most likely work with Opera 9.5
Opera 9.5 is fully compatible with Flash Lite 3 but it is up to the manufacturer whether they include it on their product or not. So really we should be looking to chastise HTC.
On roms which have opera build 1660 (like duttys 1.1), I installed flash 7 for ppc, and it did kind of work, albeit too slow - bbc's iplayer really did play, but at 1 frame per second, which is a valiant effort, heres hoping that the bbc develop a proper version for wm.
I've got duttys latest version, but that didnt have opera installed by default. Installing build 1660 and flash v7 doesn't work, as soon as a webpage with embedded youtube starts to render, the sip pops up and then opera just closes.
Not sure why opera can't just render a box/frame if it comes across a youtube embedded link, and then just call the youtube player if present when the link is clicked - surely it can't be that hard?
What about playing redtube.com vids??

That's the entire point of this topic, but the other point being in that it's not too appearent, which you just broke. Now some can't really browse this topic from work or home (wife/girlfriend) anymore because you blew it!
hmmmm... all these questions you've ALL asked have been answered by my YouTube Bible in the Wiki (!)... see the advantages of reading my articles and Bibles?

Yes, I've searched and searched, this forum and others and can't seem to get this to work. I've installed the Flash Bundle and TCPMP, in the same place and neither IE or Opera 9 will stream even youtube mobile videos. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, stock ATT tilt WM 6.1
Thanks
Google youtube play
its an awesome program that allows you to play videos as well as save them and convert them into audio files which is pretty sweet for ringtones
haha
Oh and if you really want it browser style try skyfires new browser
opera mobile 9.5 is still in beta and does not currently support video
Or flash the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM. It is the STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER integrated and works without additional configuration even through Pocket IE.
download skyfire browser and you should be able to view youtube videos with no probs or any video

I flashed the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM as soon as it was released from AT&T a couple months ago, and still nothing (not PIE not Opera, not Iris) will stream video for me except Skyfire.
Just a quick question... did you do a soft reset?
If so and it still doesn't work then unistall your tcpmp and flashbundle.
I was having the same problems until I installed this combination of cabs.
1 TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB

Obviously, install to the same location, soft reset and let the videos begin. To see applicable websites go to start\programs\video sites.html
Hope this works for you.
a solution if you're willing to pay a bit
I used TCPMP with the flash bundle with no problem for WM 6.0, but started having trouble with the 6.1 version as well. My solution... go with the upgraded version of TCPMP (CorePlayer). Yes, you have to pay for it, but it can allow for direct search/play of Youtube videos. It's also a pretty fanfreakintastic media player. It's going to cost you about 30 clams, but for me, it's well worth it. I've been playing videos and music with it nonstop since WM 6.1 came out without any problems. No crashing, no excessive pauses, nada.
I read that flash doesnt work on opera but i can access you tube which requires flash, it says underneath the video i need flash player yet it still works why is that?
I dont think opera mini would ever support flash.
After all, opera mini is not a real browser, but it shows prerendered on server pages/images. If it supports flash in the future, it will be something like Skyfire's flash support.
I would love to have decent flash 9/10 support on Opera Mobile 9.7 (including flash video and excluding the ugly flash positioning problems that occur now). That will be something much appreciated.

After all OperaMini is a fantastic browser.
Flash 10 was supposed to be supported soon, I remember reading this few weeks ago, by Microsoft.
I agree - that's the last element we really miss here.
OMini is kicking ass especially in slow data transfers, literally the speed is almost the same. But I doubt it will have flash....
OMobile is great only on high speeds but it eats so much data - and battery.
Anyway OM 9.7 with a real flash = amazing.
Yeah but my point is, why did it still play the you tube video even though it said i needed to instll flash 10

You need to have FlashLite 3.1 installed.

It always played this outside OM.
OMini Beta 5 and OperaMobile 9.7beta are available through Opera sites.
Opera mini sucks IMHO. Maybe version 5 will change that, but who knows?
I use Opera 9.5 and if a certain site crashes it, I use skyfire for it. CorePlayer handles YouTube videos perfectly.
I have a question.
There is a site elementsthegame.com this is an online card game.
the problem is that this page is a flash page and i want to know if there is any way that i can see it with my Opera browser with my diamond so i can play this game from my phone.
Try PIE instead of Opera
I use Opera 98% of the time, but there are sites (mostly Flash based) that just work better on Pocket Internet Explorer.
Hi guys, the new flash player is available on market. What are your impressions?
I am on Topogigi v1.7SP1 and cannot notice any difference in flash playback (tried both stock and Opera browser). Anything over 480p is choppy as hell...
Find also nothing new...
I cant even play 480p anymore!? Not smooth at all !
What the hell?
I'm on Topogigi's 1.8.
Balano, try to restart the phone after installing flash, that seem to have helped me.
Worked, but still choppy at times it should not
But... I cant choose at what resolution youtube should play. The 240/360/480/720/1080p menu is gone I use Opera Mobile, since i cant choose useragent on stock browser.
Another problem, after playing a video, the screen turns off.
Testet with CNET news and youtube.
Impression:
Yeah, resolution menu problem is present in Opera for me as well. Actually it's still there and you can change the res, but it is invisible on the player bar???
In the default browser it is working properly (you don't have to change useragent, at the bottom of the page m.youtube.com, there is a link to show desktop version of YT).
And I agree, Flash 11 went downhill

You can change the user agent of the stock browser: Type in about:debug (like an adress), then you have more settings.
