Hi guys, the new flash player is available on market. What are your impressions?
I am on Topogigi v1.7SP1 and cannot notice any difference in flash playback (tried both stock and Opera browser). Anything over 480p is choppy as hell...
Find also nothing new...
I cant even play 480p anymore!? Not smooth at all !
What the hell?
I'm on Topogigi's 1.8.
Balano, try to restart the phone after installing flash, that seem to have helped me.
Worked, but still choppy at times it should not
But... I cant choose at what resolution youtube should play. The 240/360/480/720/1080p menu is gone I use Opera Mobile, since i cant choose useragent on stock browser.
Another problem, after playing a video, the screen turns off.
Testet with CNET news and youtube.
Impression:
Yeah, resolution menu problem is present in Opera for me as well. Actually it's still there and you can change the res, but it is invisible on the player bar???
In the default browser it is working properly (you don't have to change useragent, at the bottom of the page m.youtube.com, there is a link to show desktop version of YT).
And I agree, Flash 11 went downhill

You can change the user agent of the stock browser: Type in about:debug (like an adress), then you have more settings.

I read that flash doesnt work on opera but i can access you tube which requires flash, it says underneath the video i need flash player yet it still works why is that?
I dont think opera mini would ever support flash.
After all, opera mini is not a real browser, but it shows prerendered on server pages/images. If it supports flash in the future, it will be something like Skyfire's flash support.
I would love to have decent flash 9/10 support on Opera Mobile 9.7 (including flash video and excluding the ugly flash positioning problems that occur now). That will be something much appreciated.

After all OperaMini is a fantastic browser.
Flash 10 was supposed to be supported soon, I remember reading this few weeks ago, by Microsoft.
I agree - that's the last element we really miss here.
OMini is kicking ass especially in slow data transfers, literally the speed is almost the same. But I doubt it will have flash....
OMobile is great only on high speeds but it eats so much data - and battery.
Anyway OM 9.7 with a real flash = amazing.
Yeah but my point is, why did it still play the you tube video even though it said i needed to instll flash 10

You need to have FlashLite 3.1 installed.
did it play within the opera mini browser or did it somehow opened the flv in an external player like.... coreplayer? otherwise, pass me the cab/jar fie of the opera version you have and i will try out

It always played this outside OM.
OMini Beta 5 and OperaMobile 9.7beta are available through Opera sites.
Opera mini sucks IMHO. Maybe version 5 will change that, but who knows?
I use Opera 9.5 and if a certain site crashes it, I use skyfire for it. CorePlayer handles YouTube videos perfectly.
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to check how does skyfire allow playing of flash files?
I am watching videos on vimeo and youtube without a problem.... Its weird.... I thought this couldn't be done?
BTW I DO have Flash 10.1 installed on Captivate, but doesn't work on default browser, but everything else through their player does.....

Skyfire supposed to play flash with no need of anyother software to install & I have a major problem not playing any flash on it says "Web Kit Files" missing, any help please?
I'm having the same issues...
I installed flash for 2.1 and while it will most definitely load a game off addictinggames.com i can't tap any of the buttons.
I'm more interested in using it for firstrow.net so I can watch live soccer and baseball, but everytime I direct to that site the regular browser crashes (tries to load flash app) and skyfire gives me the flash 9 exclamtion point.
has anyone had any success withgetting flash to run on this thing? I wouldn't even mind if flash lite 4 ran on it just so long as it started the video. Skyfire will load vimeo but not any others....
I can't believe that everyone else in the entrie android 2.1 community is having zero issues, but I can't find a single thread about issues... the engadget video of the desire running the flash video is so tantalizing...I want the same :-(
just so everyone knows what I have installed, I gott he flash_for_21.apk from the zip file and it installed no issue. .swf files will play in the browser...but anything that has a vimeo, tube8, or regular old flash plugin will not load. the regular browser crashes every now and then and skyfire just refuses to load it (or it notifies that there is a video to watch, and it'll buffer and the video requiring a play click won't load)
help please?! I've got my captivate rooted, sideloading, and bloatware-free, flash is my final frontier!

That's odd, doesn't Skyfire use server-side rendering for flash and push it to the phone after compression? Just like on Windows Mobile?
I'd gotten flash videos to play on my Captivate using Skyfire, just not embedded in the page. I had to click on the little, "Video" tab on the bottom Skyfire menu and then it played.

Same here. Once I do that I can play flash video perfectly.
I can do that, but I'm much more interested in embedded flash working with browser or skyfire.
I have some more **shady** places that I can watch live sports from would be amazing if they worked
All this hype around Android made me buy a SGS. Having flash on the browser was one big reason for acquisition. Soon I discovered that flash isn't what is promised, a desktop experience on my mobile device. I say this because most of the time (like 95%) the flash works so bad in my browser, that is barely usable. When trying to watch streams, mostly on news sites I get a message with "The video is not optimized for mobile" and the playback is choppy, sometimes when seeking, takes 10-15 seconds until the choppy playback starts again. If I try to watch something in low quality it works fine, but most of the sites offer good quality video. I expect more from a 1Ghz cpu...
Is this a problem of my device or is it general ? I have the latest Adobe Flash available on the market.
What firmware and kernel are you using?

Do some research... if you are using the Default browser, open it and in the address bar type:
about:debug
and hit go...
Now go into your browser settings and at the bottom there should be an option to set the UA String, select Desktop....
Downside:
some sites will still see your device as mobile.
you have to re do the fix Every time you load the browser...
Alternative:
try Dolphin HD broswer, it has a US string setting in the options already and only needs set once.
Downside:
Is a little slower to load pages than the default browser.
some sites will still see your device as mobile.
An another point, if you are using 3g... don't expect miracles!
sadly he's right ;( its not even working properly over wifi so i cant really say the net is the problem.
id say the problem lies in flash itself and/or its something in the memory management since ive seen stock roms delivering way better flashperformance than any custom so far, so possibility is that the stream freezes and has to rebuffer every time the memmngt cuts the memory, else you could just try to flash ubuntu and see if it works any magic ;P what do it know for all its worth it could be tha b0mb
good luck anyways !

Solution: Flash a custom JVK Gingerbread rom and DO NOT install the flash player from the market, but use the one that comes preinstalled! This way you'll have 720p flash videos playing smoothly.

I guess its rather a problem with some websites.
I never had problem with Flash player 10.1 or 10.2 (i am MIUI rom but i had previously JVK)
No problem with my SGS but i dont use flash that often so it could be as said some sites .
Use Dolphin HD browser mostly .
The video is not optimized for mobile" >> could that be the clue ???

I have stock JS4 ROM, sorry forgot to mention this in the main thread. Also I am using flash only via Wifi. Actually I am using Opera Mobile and I've set the UA to Firefox Desktop one. Gonna try the idea with stock browser, maybe Opera has messed up something.
Tried cm7 and three browsers but when I try and view

Sounds to me like the sites you are watching are optimized for the desktop. If they have a mobile version available try that. Also, make sure your browser's user agent is set as mobile or Android so it pulls up the mobile version automatically.
I personally find Dolphin HD to be the best for watching flash. Its especially good for viewing flash that is optimized for a desktop browser. It's usually easy to zoom in and control the buttons but you usually don't have to. You can just hold down on the video and a fullscreen icon appears. Just click that and the video goes to fullscreen. It also makes the controls easier to push once in fullscreen.
It's not 100% perfect though. Some sites seem to work differently than others. Some I have to zoom in and press fullscreen because if I just go to fullscreen using Dolphins icon then the screen will be slightly off center or not completely full screen. Just do what works best for the site you are viewing.
EDIT: I just tried the link you posted and it worked fine for me in Dolphin HD. I just held down on the video and selected the fullscreen option. I'm able to change slides and everything.
Hmm, weird. I tried Dolphin HD, the stock CM7 browser and Miren. They play OK to start out but then once the slide completes I was having great difficulty hitting the "next slide" arrow in all three browsers. I had to tap it many times and then the browser thought I was double tapping or select the "previous slide" arrow by accident... maybe I just need more care....
Hmmm, I am running CM7 nightly build 94 and Darlington's OC kernel. That may be why I am having no problems. What CM7 build and kernel are you running?
Runs fine on CM 7.0.3 using the 4-24-11 OC kernel. I am using Flash 10.3 and Opera w/ the desktop browser script.

Easy. Use Opera Mobile (not mini).
Dolphin doesn't agree with me, skyfire changed for the worst, opera is too red for me, honestly with the flash player update released this week the stock cm7 browser doesn't lag even a bit, I find it faster and better than anything out there for anything that uses flash, just my 2 cents, keep it simple, and for fastest page rendering maxathon blows everything out of the water by far on all of the devices in my sig

I'm having all sorts of issues with Opera Mobile 11.5. To name a few:
Flash player seems to not work (loads white boxes)
Pages frequently don't load
Settings menu stays open for all of a second before automatically closing
Is there any way to fix these issues? Opera is a wonderful browser on my phone and the tablet version looks promising if only it worked correctly.
Oh, I've just got whatever the latest flash player is from the market btw.
I've been using Dolphin for tablets but flash doesn't seem to work at all with =\

Alot of reviews on Market say 11.5 is unstable & has problems. It was so bad for me that I immediately uninstalled & restored my 11.1 with Titanium.

11.1 works fine then? I'll have to look and see if I can find a download for that version somewhere on the internet.

Here you go! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/Opera%20Mobile_11.10.1109081720.apk
Oh thanks a bunch
There are now two kinds of Opera web browser, get the "Opera Mobile web broswer 11.5.3 12.58mb" and flash should work just fine. 240p to720p ( HD resolutions are very laggy)
