Radio only ROMs, any suggestions? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I am on Fido (AKA, Rogers) and my Talk time really, really sucks!
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions which radio I could try to extend my battery life?
Also, does anyone know where I can download radio only ROMs?
Currently running ROMeOS v4.1 on my Kaiser and it runs great for me!

I personally use the 1.58.xx.xx.x one. Works okay for everything (battery isn't all that good though). You have to tried them all out to see which one fits you best.

Hello,
Take a look at this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182

Thanks for your help guys... I will be a little busy trying out the different radios! I hope one of them helps out with my battery!

For a noob, is this a good ROM choice?

Okay, i have been reading through and through on xda, and i want to flash my tilt. This will be the first time. I want a fast ROM, and one that is not bare bones, but has some stuff. I have been looking at Sleuth v3.0. And actually, being a noob, I really don't know exactly what I want. I just want a fast ROM that i can add free GPS (like Google Earth), use email express, office, and have a User Interface similar to the iphone. bigger buttons, no bloatware. I have an Itouch, and have had it for quite sometime, but there is only so much you can do with it in terms of software.
I have looked, and maybe i passed over it, but instead of recommending Sleuth v3.0, is there some nice post I can go to that explains all the roms, or maybe even recommended roms to use, with screenshots and such.
thanks a bunch!
Check this out. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Cooked_ROMs
Most of these ROMS are built for speed, so there is not too much crap loaded in them. If you look at each individual ROM the chef has listed all of the included apps. If you want to add something just do it after the flash, you can still customize.
By the way, This link was in the Wiki, which I hope you read through before you flash your device.
Q-mobile 1.2
beware, once you try it, its really hard to stick with another rom!
Your search has ended!
You definitely have to try ROMeOS v4.1. I have tried almost every ROM released on this site for the past 6 months and I have to say this is by far the best. It will run everything, it is extremely stable, and comes pre-installed with the htcclassaction video drivers! It included the best file management/ftp/registry program available, and the best thing of them all its VERY fast!
the best advice is to try them all and pick which one you like the most. for me, I constantly roll back to Laurentius v9 and Hyperdragon III
Im am a noob at flashing as well and have been seriously considering Romeos.
Does it come with a radio?

Been away awhile - IYO, What ROM is best for Manila 2D? [Plz no negative comments]

Hey guys!
I've been away awhile and I was trying to find which ROM was the most stable for Manila...but there's sooo much to read!! Wow, a lot's been going on here.
I'll be honest, I just don't have the time to weed out the best rom...
If anyone is so inclined and can be nice and has been keeping up to date on the new ROMs, can you please care to direct me to which ROM you believe is currently the best?
Thanks for your desire to help me out!!

Well, im afraid to tell you but this is all a personal preference. Different roms have different pre-packaged software. There is no such thing as the "Best" ROM . Its which one is Best for YOU.
It takes all of 15 minutes to download and install one...... just see which flavor suits ya best
On that note, I use L26M2DV4 and its pretty nice. Ive also heard HDIII M2D is good as well.
I've been flashing like crazy... from G-DK4 to everything but my best pick is HyperDragon III Jade +Manila 2D
Super Fast no bugs so far, battery is good , GPS fast
btw
AT&T in San Juan Puerto Rico
Thanks for the vote karlospr!
Much appreciated
Gotta check out PDACorners Versions as well, it rates right at the top .

Rupy's is the best IMHO
I have been burning M2D's for some time, including NATF, PDACorner, & Hyperdragon, but have found that RRE V5.9 is the best out. I realize that some will complain that it has too slow of a startup time, but how often do you really reset your phone. It is EXTREMELY stable and is suprisingly lite for what you get. You can find it below:
Rupy's Thread
unfortunately Rupy has called it quits on TILT roms as he has gotten the fuze, but give it a shot, i am very happy with it.

Would a change of rom extend battery

Hi guys.
Have read many mixed reviews about this but was hoping a couple of you here would be able to confrm it.
As we know the battery life on the diamond aint that great, but I have read many mixed thoughts that a rom upgrade would improve the battery life. Is this true?
If so any recommendations on nice rom from the rom section we have on here?
I am currently running the original orange uk rom.
Many thanks, look forward to you replies.
My guess is that the changes are marginal at best, so save yourself from the trouble and order this, http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=166204
Its not marginal. It got me about 1 extra day of usage before i'd have to charge. I changed from original rom to Dutty's cooked rom.
There is also other benefits to changing roms, most important benefit would be speed. The cooked roms usually run faster and more smoother than the original roms.
Thanx guys, I will take a look at duttys.
Will the official upgrade from the htc site be any good?

Nope. Hmmm cooked firmwares generally remove some things which are not used EVER. Also it will clean up the software being ran on the background. And a few tweeks will be made to WM to make it run faster. ie. page memory, etc.
I think its the radio update that makes the most difference. I seem to get better battery life since 'upgrading' to 1.00.25.05 (upgrading is in quotes since my original version was actually higher than that). But then again i also upgraded to a cooked rom (AZTOR X2) so i got a double hit... Certainly very pleased with the extra speed and battery life!
the radio update is totally true. Ive read certain posts where people are getting atleast 3x longer battery using a different Radio.
Such as on one radio it will use about 8% overnight, where as on another radio within about the same duration overnight it will only use 2-3%.
would anyone be able to give me links to these roms and radio's. also a guide would be really handy
thanks
Jon
I'm interested of the rom that make battery life 3x longer...i'm actually using .16(BS), but i don't know if this one is the best.

what is your favorite Radio??

wich Radio do you suggest me to use ???!!
untill now im using 1.10.25.18 and many people think it has more battery power
please someone can tell me wich one to use? bec there are new ones and i dont realy know if they are better as they are new?
TY very much!!
You have to try them and see how they work for you. How "good" or "bad" a radio is depends on your location, provider, GPS app you use, the color of your shirt, etc.
For me, 1.17 works really well.
I second Harvey... Radio is fully based on your service provider... Try and use it for minimum 3 days...(to check battery drains, signal strength, call drops etc) and then decide to stick on one.
For me 1.17 works well (excellent)
PS: i forgot.... color of shirt is very important for ur Radio ROM... haha kidding...
well, flashed to 1.16 a few month ago - my previous version (ex factory, I recall) was 1.03
big improvement! 2 more bars, big improvement in the car as well
well, personally for me it goes like that..
1.10.25.18 has the best gps fix time for me
1.14 is the most stable
1.16 has not impressed me at all
Anyway, it seems to me radio version is not THAT important. You know, r2a roms are rock stable and have long battery time while r3a drain battery and freeze phones for many people

New Radio?

Hi Guys
Flashed a few roms on my sexy nexy but my brother had recently flashed a radio and told me of the signal improvement. I'm using Kang O Rama rom and wondered whether anyone could suggest a good radio to flash?
Cheers for any help

First one to say it: Wrong Section
Should be in Q&A.
But, to answer your question, I have seen that it really depends on your own experiences with each radio. I found that none of the 5.XX radios worked well for me. So, I'm running the older radio. But mos people say that the newer ones are better. So, you should just try them out. Just be careful when flashing
Cheers for that. I noticed that I had posted in the wrong forum straight away but didn't know how to move it with tapatalk.
Thanks for the info. Anyone got any recommendations?

same here:
5.12 horrible battery and terrible internet speeds
5.08 terrible battery
4.xx no problems
and the same bad reception on all of them
=> UNLESS you actually have a PROBLEM with the radio, leave it alone!
5.12 radio here, wonderful battery and blazing speeds. No problems at all.
