Is there any way to increase the brightnes on the HTC Diamond.
Or a third part application that can
(that must be the light sensor indeed, you can test it easily : turn off screen in a weel lighted room, put your finger on the light sensor, turn on the screen, wait for the brightness to decrease, and remove your finger : it'll increase anew within a few seconds)
edit : sorry, wrong topic.
Is there a manual way to increase the brightness

Are you serious dude?
Just change your brightness in settings-->system-->power-->backlight.
If you cant change the brightness on your Jewel................we are in trouble
I guess your not visiting the kitchen right?
In the Old HTC touch the Brightness setting was under the Display settings, not the power settings

Well, i had the same problem when i bought the HD. Since i'm a extreme noob and never had a WM device before, it wasn't easy to figure it out. But after playing around with the phone for a couple days i'm able to solve the most 'problems'

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone new how to lower the brightness level to below that of stock, up to the level of night mode if I needed.
I like to do a bit of browsing before I sleep, and the brightness levels even on the lowest hurt my eyes! If anyone knows how to do this I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
UPDATE: Issue helped, and possibly resolved with the help of my mate Rich @ Geek you Up. Check out his app in my thread:

Ive been looking at the Auto-Brightness thread and it seems Cyan already knows how to tweek the brightness values, but I dont even know what a github is let alone the deving needed to acheive this.
cyanogen said:
Anyway, the Desire has 10 auto-brightness levels, and the N1 has only 5. These are just an array of lux/brightness values. I put them into my vendor overlay and rebuilt, and I have to say it's much nicer. I'm going to include it in the next CM.

Cyan if you can help, I would appreciate it!! But understand if the modding is far more important
Like how the brightness dims before the screen auto turns off, or how it is dim when you tap the sleep button in the clock application - these would be good. As for that stock widget that controls the wifi, blutooth, gps, sync and brightness, i never touch it because it messes with autobrightness, but if it could be changed to temporarily go really dim thatd be perfect

Either my friend! The clock application goes even dimmer than I want, so somewhere in between would be great. But I'm sure that could be customized, I just dont know where to start looking..
I'd be really interested in this too - I like reading in bed before going to sleep, but the wife doesn't like the light being on. I have to angle my nexus slightly away as it is too bright, even at the lowest setting, to have it directly facing me while in a dark room.
At random my lcd brightness will go up and down like it's having a seizure. I have tried auto brightness on and off, and with the power saving feature on and off. It's not a bid deal because it usually goes away quickly, but I would like to know if anyone else has it.
here's a video of the problem-
Mine will at times just randomly change itself for no reason and i will have to go back into the menu and adjust it again.
It only happens every once in a while but it is still annoying.
Similar but not the same. Anyone can help us?

You sure that it is not simply the dropdown menu bar at the top? It changes your brightness by keeping your finger on it.

It starts when I'm not even touching the screen. It goes up and down, up and down, et. It's becoming more frequent now. I guess my lcd is dying or something.
same with me. I like to keep my brightness setting to the absolute minimum, however on numerious occassions i find that it has automatically brightned and when i go into the settings the slider is halfway.
I usually notice it after charging the phone, either way it shouldnt happen.
I had the same issue when i have installed the Voodoo lagfix + Voodoo Color.
Without Voodoo color, it was better.
Just want to check that you guys know that
you can adjust brightness using the drop-down status bar, right?
By swiping you finger left/right on the drop-down status bar, you could adjust brightness. (if "automatic brightness adjustment" is off)

I'm positive my lcd is dying. It started with JM1, continued in JPM and JP6. It flickers and goes up/down without any pattern.

What do you mean by flickering? Perhaps the brightness changes in such rapid succession? Try using light sensor test
Dial this number (as if calling someone) *#0589#
Try to block the light sensor with this app running and see if it's just a calibration thing, etc. though I don't know if it is calibrable (or whatever the word is )
PS: AM/OLED (or SAMOLED for that matter) is not a LCD

I've attached a zipped video in the first post.
EDIT: I tried this app when it was doing it, the app didn't respond at all to the changes, it kept reporting "Level 0". Which means it has nothing to do with it and I'm 100% certain this stupid thing is dying. And since I bought an unbranded/unlocked version from ebay, I don't think I can use the warranty. And even if I could, I've heard plenty of horror stories with warranties and support. I would just sell it for parts on ebay.
Hi there!
I am a new user, and I've got some questions:
1) Is there any way to change dimmed mode brightness live from the watch?
2) Is it normal that alarms don't work during Theater mode?
3) Is there any way to reduce microphone sensibility? I find it pretty unusable when in my car because of the ambient noise (it just keeps listening as there are other sounds)
Thank you very much in advance!
Hi, let's se what i can help u with
1) From the watch you can download the swapps true dark or something like that which is a kind of screen filter reducing the brightness on both dimmed and live mode.
2)yeah, that's how its supposed to work
3) mmmh same thing here, since we use it on the wrist which normally is used to drive the car xD idk of anything to reduce the sensibility, hope someone here comes out with a solution

Thank you very much!
1) I've found the app, it works, but still have to figure out HOW does it work :silly:
I don't understand what the light bulb stands for and why it becomes full or empty when I choose the settings (I suppose that the bulb "on" means the higher lvl of brightness, bulb "off" the lower one, but can't really understand how to set this properly - but it works somehow, so this doesn't matter too much)
2) Ok
3) I think this is something kernel/rom related, some value to change, like the vibration one (by the way I MUST apply the vibration mod, because I don't wake up with the normal intensity)
Thank you again for your help!

You're welcome!
In swapps the bulb should work the exact opposite way you guessed xD i mean full bulb means the "dark mod" is on so you should see the screen darker (select the intensity of this "dark filter" below on the grey-scale thingy, on watch app). When you tap on the bulb it becomes empty and the filter is deactivated so your screen turns back into default brightness.

Have you tried from settings.. Settings / Display / Brightness and remove Auto brightness toggle (see screenshot)..
i told in the post i remove the v in the auto
Thermal Throttling.
Same on mine. Sucks heavy. CPU gets too hot. Display turns brightness down...

Seems It has been fixed with the new B166 update.
* Solved problem with screen (brightness) not autoadjusting when entering a dark area
No this is completely different topic
Ill wait for update then :d
wow just notice the battery is terrible also damn!!! no du much and goes down about 30% in 3 houres
but deep sleep ok during night nothing down 6 houres 100% weird.
New Kernel seems to have improved CPU usage. Phone does not get so hot anymore during gaming. Not Thermal Throttling noticed with high brightness anymore. Impressed for now.
Ok guys so I need to know if there is a sensor issue with my phone .I don't use auto brightness no more because if you go in the sun the brightness overrides itself to brighter than max brightness and it is the reason why I've had burn in 4 times so far and had to get the screen replaced. But I've also noticed that with auto brightness off but you have the brightness maxed out and go in the sun or shine an led torch at the sensor the screen will kick up to override max brightness sun mode out like when using auto brightness. Is this normal behaviour. Can anyone test this fpr me please .only 6 months left of warranty left
So if this is a feature its stupid ,and make sure you never put your phone on max brightness in manual or autobrightness if out side and it's sunny as it will kick in and cause screen burn .
I've factory reset it and cleared cashe still the screen in manual mode if maxed out in the sun with the brightness maxed out will auto ride to super max brightness mode .im on the oreo uk fm
Phone is uk unlocked note 8.
Anyone? I see lots of views no replys I'm sure everyone that view this thread owns a note 8?
OK lol thanks for the great respone guys smh this place sucks :good:

No, this place does not , if you do not get any response , it means nobody has something useful to share, beeing rude will gain you a ban
Maybe your the only person that has this error, so no one has any advice to give other than to factory reset (which you all ready done).
Most people has moved on to other phones. So you'll have to be patient. I say is take it to the Samsung store and see if it is covered under warranty.
I'm not the only person all note 8s do this i think but nobody in this thread owns a note 8 or 9 other than me because they both do it. On both my phones.its a terrible feature as it will cause burn in.if you want to be able to see the screen outside in the sun
So i've been using auto brightness for 2 years, i don't have any burned screen. Last week I've been using phone on sun, taking a lot of pictures (brightness set to auto, on camera app its option to set it to max bright) and still no burnout. I think you should say your problem to guy who will accept your warranty next time
Well this is good to know just went to the sammy service centre and tested the phones they had there with my led torch and they all do it including the s9 plus .so it maybe always was like that or it's been added into a fw.

I will add that friend have a s8, his screen is good. Also another friend had note 8 and now note 9, always autobrightness on, no problems so far.
I have a little experiment
1st, I set auto brightness on, turn on a torch on the sensor, brightness go to max, then turn it off, and brightness go to middle (room light on)
2nd, set the auto brightness off, slide the brightness to minimum, turn on the torch to sensor, and brightness remain to minimum, nothing change
So I assume maybe it's a software feature I don't have, you can check with your friend running the same firmware, or you can check using *#0*# on keypad, click on sensor, look for light sensor, and do a simple test, see how much lux you have when you're on direct sunlight, or in a room, then you can flip your phone down / reverse the light source, the lux sensor must be read it on continuous count, as you flip your phone, the number will get decrease
I hope you understand what I am saying, because English is not my native language

You did the test wrong friend you need to turn off auto brightness and slide the brightness slider to max brightness it must be fully maxed .then shine led torch at the sensor then the brightness overide kicks in and goes even brighter just like In auto brightness mode.but if the slide is not fully maxed it won't do it

Interesting you mentioned all devices do this before you went to the service centre and confirmed it. That admission renders your entire post pointless. If all the devices does this, it means it's not a fault on your sensors or anything on your side, and it means it's indeed just a feature.

I said imo that all devices have this issue. Because bothe my note 8 amd 9 have the same issue .and i found a thread on reddid where 2 others also had the same issue.its not a feature because it can damage the screen it must be a software bug that Sammy need to fix

Ah I see, after doing that, I found out that the screen goes brighter and the colors seem to be fade out
Maybe it will help us to watch better when we got under direct sunlight (I think it's not a bug)
But in real life usage, I have my adaptive brightness turn on, then when I think it's too much bright at the moment, I will manually adjust it to my desire brightness
So that the system will learn the pattern and will apply automatically next time I had the same condition
Doesn't do that with mine and I live in Hong Kong.
