Is there a way to recieve mp3 mms messages? Everytime I recieve a mms message with a mp3 attached, it never comes through. It says that "One or more of the message components were deleted due to mms adaptation." Is there a way to fix this?
You need to use email for that.
I am able to receive mp3 files by MMS without issue. Just keep the size under the maximum allowed. Short ringtones are fine, but a full song will be rejected by AT&T.
Ok I tried shrinking the size of the mp3 to 32kb. It still says the same thing.
That sound like an issue with AT&T then. I would get on their case about it because I frequently send and receive 400kb mp3 files.
Its funny because I can send them to my friend who has a motoQ on AT&T, but when he sends it to me it doesn't come through. The same thing happens when I send it to myself.
You need to be set to "free" creation mode, unless I am mistaken. Try this cab that atw and scotchua made the other day.

Oops! My bad I got it to work. For some reason I separated the files upon uploading. Needless to say, the .cab works phenomenally!!! Thanx for the help P1Tater and johnq_24!!!
Att Settings Cab.
I installed the cab in my tilt and it works great. However, I do not have the data plan, but I have the unlimited txt plan. Will I be charge through 1kb/1cent or would it be through my unlimited txt plan?

You will not be billed for data usage that occurs due to sending/receiving MMS messages as long as your unlimited messaging plan included MMS.

PLease i just realised that i was still getting charged for sending text messages, even though i have tha total intertnet plan from tmobile.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a program that would let me send text messages bypassing the cellular network, and using my internet,(be it wifi or edge or gprs) to carry the messages.
Kinda like when you use your computer to send texts to phones, is there a program for windows mobile?
thank you in advance
I believe there are a few websites out there to send messages with, tmobile used to have a public SMS application, however I am unsure of any method of "relaying" an SMS message through the included pocket outlook sms handler to one of those sites transparently.
thank you. I still will be awaiting answers.

one approach might be to use an email server to bounce the messages to sms email addresses.
say you use the email side of the messaging app, either through synching to exchange or through a pop, imap or whatever, and point the email at the sms address, I forget what the tmobile address is, but for example it would be like [email protected]
I guess that semi solves the problem without any programming, you would just need each carrier's email address, and specify a return address that would go to your phone for when they SMS back.

CaptDistraction, you need to be creative about the 6315; I gave mine to my wife when I upgraded to to 8125. Got rid of the memory hogs and you can't imagine how our relationship has improved, we now talk about the same techy stuff; she complaing, I fixing by the way she no longer complains about how much time I spend with my phone, cause she's now doing the same. Now we have no time to talk to each other......

Haha, I tried every rom out there, I kept the device for a while and finally sold it to support the MDA purchase.
Man I messed with that 6315 to no end, had so much stuff going on with it trying different app combos, spent hours in the registry, no matter how simple I kept it, I couldn't ever get it to answer calls in a timely fashion.
My biggest love with the MDA is when you press that green answer button, it immediately picks up the call.
Hey guys,
Just been browsing around the net lately and see that you can send free text messages from certain web sites and now i hear ICQ. BUT, I was wondering if anyone here had written a program that will actually use the GPRS connection from our Data Plan to send out text messages? I know its a long shot, but i think it could work.
Reason : When you goto these sites . . (Ex. txtdrop.com; smseverywhere.com; etc) they allow you to send free text messages to almost any wireless carrier, some even just have you put in United States and then the number and it finds it for you. So i was thinking . . . Why not make a program that will do the same thing using those web-sites or something, and instead of putting your name in where it says "you name" you just have it put in your wireless number so they can respond. SO, ur only getting charged for receiving txt messages.
I thought this up because i am with cingular myself here is the USA, and their plans are either 4.99 for 200 messages sent and received, or 19.99 for 3,000 sent and received!!! I already pay 39.99 for my F***IN unlimited data plan, WHY NOT USE IT!!!! If anyone can think of a way to get this to work, that would be AMAZING!!
I've heard there are programs that use ICQ to send and recieve free texts to phones but i haven't found anything for Windows Mobile. If someone knows of a way, or can think of an easy fix, please feel free to let me know ASAP!
i was speaking with a cingular sales manager i worked with. at the time my tmobile contract was up. and she wanted me to switch bad.. and i said only thing in my way is hte lack of unlimited txt msging. and she called around and talk to her bosses and they told her nothing they can do cingular doesnt believe enough people txt more than 3000 txt in an out a month and i resigned with tmobile 9.99 unlimited on all my family plan phones. as far as a company stand point they wont offer fair txt rates to anyone. but i doubt you can send txt via data it has to be done on a cellular level. maybe those sites have a server set up to acually connect to a wireless network at some point and push out those txt msgs
set up a push email account that is free like i have from mail2web. now here is the secret. you can email a text message to any phone with (phone number)@(serviceprovider).com but who actually knows what service their friends have. a service from teleflip will automatically convert the domain name to the proper provider. so all u have to do is email the [email protected] through push and they can reply back and it will go to your push email box.
i even saved my most used friends teleflip phone number as an email address so i can quickly communicate with them

Please check your PM to help me out with this. I know ur probably busy, but it would not only benefit me, but EVERY person on thuis board with cingular!! Thanx soo much
1) How to setup push e-mail on my phone (8125 running 3.3 V2 rom)
a. i set it up in activesync. connect device. tools/add server source and for the server type mobile.exchange.mail2web.com and the username is your [email protected]
domain:ad2 password is the one u made
2) Do i need to have a particular kind of e-mail? Like a special yahoo account? (Cause i don't think yahoo or hotmail allow you to grab you FREE e-mail account using pop3 or smtp) Or can I get one at that Mail2web.com site? If so, where?
a.you want mail2web live which is free. u can also set your other email to forward to your mail2web account. ex. i forward my yahoo mail to my mail2web which is pushed to my phone
3) When someone receives the text message, will they be sending a text back to me and will i be charged for that text? Or will it be sent automatically back to that e-mail address and then i can have it grabbed by push e-mail and cost me nothing?
a. yes if the other person presses reply to the text you get it sent back to your push email box which makes it free.
4) is there a big delay in how long it takes them to get the text sending it this way? (ie. is it slower then sending it through sms on my phone?)
a. never actually tested but i imagine it probably a little more time because it runs though a couple of extra servers. though very minimal. maybe an extra minute at most. i can still have conversations with the push email/txt solution
here is a tip:
when sending a email txt to someone for the first time. put your name at the end. they probably will have no clue who u are and let them know to hit reply when they msg u back
Moderators . . STICKY???
I mean, who doesn't want free text messaging!!
Been doing it for 2 days now and it works almost flawlessly. Sometimes people don't get them for a little while, but i can live with an extra 3 min to save myself the 19.99 3000 limit!!!!
I still have my 4.99 200 msg serice so my friends can text me at will, but i will ALWAYS reply back by this method to save texts!
Grinny11 deserves all credit for this!!! I just brought it out into the open!
Thanx Grinny11!! U DA MAN!!
looks good
but is here uk version of this has anyone found a web site in uk that wil work the same way as ive tested this and it dont work for me with 0797 ect or +44797ect

I don't have a texting plan or a data plan, however i do have wifi. So i was wondering if anybody knew of a program for pocket pc that lets you send and receive texts through data, rather than sms. I know i don't have wifi everywhere, but it's better than nothing. Thanks
Nobody? Any way?

To my knowledge there isn't a program that does that, and there won't be.
You can setup an imer to send instant messages. The only way to send txt messages is through a texting plan with your cell provider.
with some providers, you can send an email to the recipient and it will go through as an sms. or you can use this

but, of course, it's an sms. Something the original poster was trying to avoid.
You paid about $400 for the phone, just fork up the $5 a month for a text plan. I pay $8 for unlimited txts.
Yea i tried the emailing method and it wasn't reliable at all. O well, thanks for the help. If anybody knows anything else, then please say it, thanks.
I don't pay for unlimited texts. I get them for free.
the e-mail thing is great, but they cant reply to them reliably.. and if they do, they do it as an SMS...
SMS's are great because just about all phones can do them.. beyond that you will need to be chatting with other friends with smartphones, and find software that lets you do it by a data connection (Doesn't Blackberry connect do that?)
u can email a phone number(u would send from your email, and i would recieve it as an sms) as long as u know that cell company's email address... ex. for at&t my cell's email is [email protected] then it comes in just like an SMS message. each carrier should have this option...

Probably your MMS account is missing the right configuration.
Please tell us what's your operator?
Maybe someone local can give you the right MMS settings.
it is cingular or new at&t now.
thanks
im not sure where mms setings are, too...
Excuse me my stupidity, but apparently I have to have internet hooked up to my phone aka data plan. Well I didn’t know that , so scratch my question.
Thank you all for help.

You should not need to have a data plan for mms, just for data. they charge you for text and mms separately from data, right?
What you need is to search: "network wizard cab" Or "HTC Connection Setup" (which is HUGE and unnessesary in my opinion). Faria did not cook that into the rom. I do not think it was available then. It configures data and MMS settings in just about all the new roms.
sorry i took me so long to try it and ansver. so i got network wizard cab and instoled it to my phone, mms gose wright to my ssm, geves me a link to download, but when i try to download it i get error mesage.
any ideas?
is there special network wizard cab for every phone, or it works for all of them?
error mesge:
A networking error(0x1501)has occerred.
This colud be cased by a voice call, a wired
ActiveSync connection, or some other
network problem. Plesee try again.
Hello, I have a HTC FUZE with AT&T and an unlimited messaging package.
I'd like to use an AIM-based client via texting rather than data because i locked data usage (they charge $0.01/kb) and my phone connects automatically.
Anyone has the .CAB file to install on the phone?
I found a few in this forum but they were for T-Mobile and Sprint.
Thank you in advance!
Just sign on to AIM and hook up your phone for mobile usage...its uses texting rather than data..

I mean, i want the application for my phone, the .cab installation.
The aim that my phone brought requires a data plan
I tried installing the new beta of aim too but it requires a data plan as well...

It connects through data
it requires Media nET
Here's the OZ messenger that came default on AT&T's Fuze.
It uses txt messages to send IM's, but it MAY require a small amount of data transfer to get the list of online friends, etc. It should be minimal, if anything.

This one asks for data too, and i have my data unlocked because its "pay per usage" and they charge 0.01$ every 1kb.
So i can't use aim at all on my phone i guess.
Is there an updated version? Or is 2.0.84 the current one? I went to Oz's site and the screen shots look nicer, but i'm not sure if that's for WM phones and also, no download links on the site...
latest version is 2.0.94 but it looks the same as .84
All of them require some data. Read about OZ, you'll see. The one I poasted is dirtectly from AT&T.
