Is there a soft phone app. for the Herald? - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Wondering if there is a Smart Phone app for the Herald?
Basically, I use WiFi or my data plan to connect to my work network and then make calls by dialing the extension.

I downloaded WM6voip.cab and installed it. Is there an XML file I have to edit to change the settings?

Yes, we're all struggling with this a bit

And no one seems to know the answer.
I have Schaps VoIP files installed in the ROM and it DOES work but the service wavers from SELECTED to NO SERVICE at will and the dialer both dials, doesnt connect as soon as it has finished dialing AND gives wrong "there is no network" error messages as soon as you finish dialing.
I have on ONE or TWO occasions managed to get the phone to connect and found the volume to be impossibly low while the person I was calling said my voice was (if anything) too loud!
You apparently need to install Omapclock to overclock to use VoIP at all but this is supposed to cure the low volume problem (it doesn't for me and I have overclocked to 286). But from a position of no knowledge, I am pretty sure you dont have to change any xml settings!
Meanwhile no one knows if the cooks are checking that VoIP should work in their ROMs. aSerg is keeping shtum on this for his new ROM. it is so flaky and the cooks respond to VoIP questions so rarely that I am wondering whether the ROM one uses has some input into whether VoIP works PROPERLY or not.
It seems that the best soft dialer out there is SJPhone which I have installed relatively successfully on a Wizard, though it is a bit of a pig to configure. What with creating a profile, marking it active, selecting it and using it etc etc etc.

voicecmd.exe not found

Hi
Just flashed my rom with bal666's splash editor, which is so easy to use.
Then restored my data using xBackup for the 1st time when it came to softreset i got an error saying
'Cannot find 'VoiceCmd' (or one of its components)'
Does this file belong to Microsofts Voice program or something else and whats the best way of fixing the error now and to stop it happening again on the next restore.
Thanks
fixed problem.
it was microsoft voice but i don't know why it happened
thanks
voicecmd.exe issue on htc touch diamond
I dont know how i managed to do it, but even after upgrading to latest official ROM, i deleted something and then I started getting "voicecmd.exe" errors every time the phone started up. My fix was to install Microsoft Voice Commander. This worked but i found that I was using memory for a program I dont use, or didnt seem to work out of the box.
It might be a great thing, but i havent lost any time trying to learn how to use it, and even without it, voice speed dial works normally/perfectly and allows to start not only a call to a contact (you still need to record the voice tags) but also to start applications.
If anyone out there has decided to remove microsoft voice command, like i did, then you should use a tool like sktools to find invalid registry keys and you will find the key by searching on sktools registry tool, for "voicecmd".
I should have taken note of the path but i can tell at least that the word "startup" is in it.
Anyway, removed key, phone starts faster and hey, nothing like 50% used memory!
Screw TF3D and thumbs up for handy weather!
Btw, love my HTC Touch Diamond...
how did you fix it guys ?

MyFaves and WM6

I have this problem:
this was quoted from Howardforums.
I have realized after numerous missed calls and calling the wrong people that there are 2 inherent problems with the myFaves program and WM6 (Wing specifically).
Problem #1
If you have chosen to hide the myFaves icons from the today screen, then when you miss a call from one of the people that you have assigned as a myFave you will have no notification whatsoever. That is, no flashing light, no sound, no vibrate, and NO MESSAGE notification. No matter the settings in “Sounds & Notifications”
This is just ridiculous. My wife always complained that I would never call her back when she tried to call me at work, but it is because I had no idea she was calling.
Please note that this is only with contacts assigned as a myFave, everyone else that I miss a call from I get a message, light, sound, vibrate, etc.
Problem #2
One of my favorite features of any cell phone is the ability to quickly redial the last person that you called or the last person that called you. I use this feature all the time to quickly call back the person listed as my “Last Call”.
What I am talking about is when you hit the green phone button (hard button) and you get the numpad with the “Last Call” listed near the top left corner. Then you hit the button a second time to call that person. So it is essentially the ability to quickly hit the green button twice and redial that person.
If the “Last Call” is a contact assigned as a myFave, this feature does not work. Sure the name and little myFave logo will appear under “Last Call”, but the person that it will dial will be the last non-myFave person in your recent call history.
I absolutely hate this not working correctly. You would think that T-Mobile could do some testing before they realase software like this. But hey, what do I know…..
I use myFaves a lot, hell I almost double my allotted minutes just in myFaves calls a month. So I have to be able to take advantage of myFaves.
So my question is: Can I remove the “myFaves” application and still retain the use of myFaves through myTmobile.com?
I cannot wait till someone releases an update….
If someone could make a cab of it you could uninstall it and try. I would think they would be able to keep track of who your faves were for billing purposes independent of your phone settings. I never had myfaves and the app never installed on my wing, but its a pretty darn important feature for those who do. Hopefully there will soon be updates and rom cooking and we'll see stable non-tmobilized-crap roms out there. When I had my wizard, the cooked roms were always way more stable than the tmobile ones. It might be that running the myfaves cab on a more generic rom would clear up the bugs. Wish they'd stop delaying the RUU releases...

I'm adding this to the "call to action topic"
If you delete "List" from the registry, located in HKLM\Security\Phone\NoLog and soft reboot. Your MyFave people will show up on your call log.
T-Mobile data devices are not running myfaves well at all.
Think your Wing has myfaves problems?? Check out the Pearl.
Hopefully it can be fixed, myfaves is an awesome rateplan, and on all the regular handsets it works perfectly, just all the data devices dont like it.

I use the Touch-IT 2.3 ROM without myfaves running and notification and billing both work just fine. The myfaves app is just that, an app. It doesn't provide any special t-mo network capabilities, as that is managed as part of your account, not your phone.
Your notifications problem sounds like some kind of corruption of settings rather than a problem with myfaves; did the suggestion below related to "list" help at all?

its not corruption because i had the exact same problems and numerous amounts of others have said the same thing. I disabled the myfaves app and i can still call those same 5 people and wont be billed for it and i can change the 5 my going through mytmobile.com

This worked for me!!
Did anyone figure this out?
I also can't use the green phone button for redial (only) of specific (speed dial?) numbers. It's a hassle.
I also miss calls, but only from these same people. I do suspect it's a software problem, specifically and extended rom problem. I too have tried several OS ROMs, and all of the radio ROMs I can.
I don't have a myFaves plan or the app.
I'd like to try a fresh extended ROM next, but if someone has figured this out, since it's happened to me a lot (maybe getting the settings from Tmo automagically?) I'd rather tackle it directly rather than try to shot-gun solve it.
*********
As it turns out, the three people I was missing calls from were using old sim cards. Yes, three, and they were all something like eight years old. They all have had them replaced and everything is fine. Given this post, however, I'm going to sign up for myfaves.

VoIP Bug? WM6VoIP.cab

Installed the WM6VoIP.cab and the sip config 2.0.1. Works so far.

Have you had VoIP working before? Do you know if your SIP settings are correct and you have connectivity to your VoIP provider? I have cooked the VoIP components into my custom ROM and mine works fine. I did have issues setting up my ADSL Router/Firewall originally though as it didn't 'understand' SIP and some additional configuration was required.

yes everything correct, it says available. but if i want to use it an tap on the today screen i just get into the options menu.
the funny thing is, if i use wrong account details, it says: "searching" and i can tap on the today plugin and it changes to voip without saying selected.
can you give me the link to your voip.cab please? do i need the voip drivers thing?
edit: just used fring to test it, and there it works. didnt use voip built in before
I have the exact same problem when tapping on the today screen I go to options. Anybody solved this particular problem?

caller ID ??? wtf??

So I loaded a new rom (energyrom3.0) running WM 6.5.
and when i did my restore for all my contacts etc using pimbackup, i see my contacts list just fine. but when someone calls, i just see their number no name or anything!!
i restored again and still no caller id....
I did a search and im not finding any info on this.
can someone tell me what Im doing wrong??
(htc fuze running energy rom 3.0)
it sucks not knowing whos calling or texting me, now I have gotten into the habit of not answering my phone because of this issue...
I cant memorize all my contacts !
Thanks for any help
anyone seen this?
its probably some setting that I have not seen...
yep - im getting the same problem and raised a
separate thread - lots of views but no replies
i think its a wm6.5 issue.
im on energy rom - which is superb so far - but the callerid and sms id is causing me problems so i may have to revert to an older rom
I can't say that I've experienced this. (Running RRE's rom though) Have you tried install slide to unlock just for the full screen caller id that it has? (you can disable the actual locking part if you dont want it). Also, what dialer are you using?
I used active sync and outlook for my syncing and backing up my contacts and it all worked fine with nrg 3.0.
yea i have a buddy that uses outlook sync to restore.
how do i use that?
im using the stock dialer.
try s2u2 you say?
i ahve had it in the past, i will install that and see how it works. just so many dam options when setting it up. can be a bit time consuming...
thanks for the replies peeps
where are your contact pictures located? In the past, if you stored them on the Storage Card, then it could also cause a delay/issue. Just a thought for something to try.
yep - i also used pimbackup - and energy 3.0 - and im having the same problem.
wonder if its to do with the backup/restore rather than syncing

I think you should just memorize all of your names and numbers. Think how much more that would impress your friends than a fancy phone...
Try ActiveSync on the PC. If you are on Vista, you will need Windows Mobile Device Center, which unbeleivably does not auto-install with a new OS image. You can find it on Microsoft website for free, the same for ActiveSync if you are on XP. However, to use Activesync, you really need Outlook to get much value out of it. The huge upside is that if you use Outlook and ActiveSync, you will have a copy of all your contacts in 2 different physical locations.

it could very well be...
is this happening to anyone else??
i have fixed this - somehow ?!
removed icontact - and deleted the icontact 'contacts file'
did a new PIM backup - hard reset
when i looked at the texts they still had numbers not names, however i spotted that i had over 500 texts !!! cleared the lot of them out and everything working fine. callerID and text recognition perfect ....
Whether it was PIM backup, icontact or sheer volume of texts i dont know but what I can say is that its NOT the ROM.
im a happy bunny now
I am having the same problem, curently running At0mAng V5.1 WWE with WM 6.1. I did use PIM backup to restore, but to try to fix this problem I erased all of my contacts and restored them with Activesync. No luck, I suppose I should try a hard reset.

Yes really,.... If you hit the pwr button to off then back on, the callerID will be displayed. It's like a refresh of the lock screen. As for Energy Rom, I've been using Da_G's kitchen to cook since 21169 till 21222 and CallerID hasn't worked on the lock screen unless I do the pwr button trick.
I however have been using Exchange 2007 to sync my contacts in all versions though. Maybe it's something with that? I don't know...hopefully it will get resolved though.
Same prob here, I can tell u how to fix it..
Ive had the exact same problem with my stock Fuze. I checked HTC and even called them. Tried for nearly 3 hours on ATT talking with tech support. Yet these ppl only know whats written in their books. We, the ones that actually tweak and figure out the "bugs" in certain systems r the ones that know the answers. Thats why I love this site! .... sorry, got carried away. ... OK, ur most likely using the Advanced Config 3.3, if so, thats where the problem lies. If u go down to the "Phone" tweak inside of Advanced Config and set the "purge SIM contact when no SIM" Set this to YES. Now it DOES NOT delete the contacts as it says it should when u remove the SIM card and reboot. Instead it cuts off the NAME of ur caller ID yet still shows the number. Ive done about 12 master resets tryin to find the exact reason I kept losin my Caller ID name. This IS why. Though I have a different ROM, this just may be a bug that affects the entire system of any fone. Now my Caller ID works fine. When I install Advanced Config 3.3 and tweak it, the only things I change under the "Phone" catagory are Clean Period, cuz I like having all my calls in the dialer, and number of ID matches. Also when u install HD Tweak or Diamond Tweak do not set the ring to "Instant Ring". This will also cut the name of the Caller off. Yet u can change the "Ring Delay" to WITHOUT DELAY. This will solve the delay problem as well as the Caller ID disappearing act. I actually found that under another thread here. Both tweaks r set and my Caller ID has yet to cut off again. I may be wrong, yet it never hurts to try right? Good luck, hope this helps!
hi there,
also in advanced config is an option to use x digits as id.
i had the issue of it not recognnising contacts between 0 numbers and +44 numbers.
so i set this valuie to 10 digits then it doesnt matter about the zero or +44.
worth a shot.

Mine was set to Yes by default, should I set it to no? How about show Sim contacts in contacts? Very interesting though...
The only thing I save with PIM backup are my phone calls and messages. Therefore, I rely on Outlook to sync the remaining data such as contacts and appointments and I never have issues with any rom from any device using this method.

[APP][BETA] gVo v0.6.0b - 09/02/09 (Google Voice Dialer) ALL RESOLUTIONS!

FAQ:
Question: Why do the CallBack and SMS buttons seem unresponsive at times?
Answer: Make sure you have 7,10, or 11 digits entered, also while gVo Online Features are loading in the background, CallBack and SMS buttons are disabled. They will be enabled upon loading.
If we don't disable them, then we can't guarantee that the number you selected will be pasted in the correct spot. This is a result of having to wait for google's responses to our actions. Sorry!
Question: Is WM6.5 supported?
Answer: I don't run wm 6.5, but it really depends on which rom you're using. Custom 6.5 roms that use the newer beta Internet Explorer browser do not work correctly with gVo because of the newer IE dlls.
gVo
So ever since the public invites started going out to google voice users, I've been looking for the perfect google voice dialer. Google has yet to release a windows mobile version for what ever reasons, and so I was on a mission to make my google voice life easier. I came across subpro's iDialer, which worked great but still wasn't as easy as I wanted it to be. Plus its integrated as a regular dialer too so it was a bit more complicated then I wanted. There is also OneDialer by m_drunk, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted either. I read about GVdialer but that one isn't free, so I didn't get a chance to try it. Anyways, so I spent two days (and nights) working on my own dialer. Finally, I have a workable application, so I thought I'd share it. Free of course.
*** You must have .NET3.5 installed ***
*** You must have Windows Mobile 6+ ***
*** Touch Screen Phones Only ***
MAY NOT WORK RIGHT WITH THE THE NEWER IE VERSIONS
Anyhow, here's what it is:
Current: v0.6.0
Select contact and dials their Number (Mobile)
Enter in a non-contact number and dials
Supports ALL Resolutions (QVGA,VGA,WVGA) new!
No Skin Support (since this is meant to be a quick and easy app, no need to worry if it looks good)
Landscape support new!
Google Online Functions such as SMS/CallBack/Inbox/Voicemail
Support for International Calling
ChangeLog:
v0.1 - v0.2
added online feature
changed graphics / layout
v0.2 - v0.2.1
Made change to dialing pauses In the hopes of speeding it up more. Doubt it changed anything though. (so you don't really need to update to this version)
v0.2.1 - v0.3.0
Made online features a bit faster. (but realize that if you have the gVo online features enabled, it will try to connect to google on start up. If you don't want that, then disable it in the config)
Added a red button to select which number to use from your contact. (M = Mobile, H = Home, W = Business/Work)
v0.3.0 - v0.3.1
Changed username length up to 50
passwords are up to 25
v0.3.1 - v0.4
Removed Graphics (so we don't have to worry about skinning and resolutions)
Now supports ALL resolutions!
Now supports Landscape!
v0.4 - v0.4.1
Added dedicated Online/Dial buttons (Online Button only visible with online feature enabled in config)
Google Number can now be 11 digits
Changed config page's layout to be landscape friendly
v0.4.1 - v0.5.0
Changed dedicated "Online" button to dedicated "SMS"
Added "CallBack" Checkbox in config (for those who want a dedicated callback button)
Made the graphics look better (goodbye google colors! Hello Black, Seems everyone likes black)
Disabled SMS and CallBack buttons while online features loading (If we don't disable them, I can't guarentee numbers pasted in the right box)
v0.5.0 - v0.5.1
Changed dialing requirement of 7 or 10 or 11 digits to only 7 digits or more (since international dialing can vary in how many digits total)
*** if you don't dial internationally, you don't need to update to 0.5.1 ***
v0.5.1 - v0.6.0
Added better support for Google international calling
(added checkbox that enables support for international calling, everytime you dial you will get a message box asking if it's an international call or not. I know it's kind of a hassle but it's the only way to really support international calling. If you never make international calls, do not enable international calling and you will never see the message box)
*** INTERNATIONAL CALLING IS NOT FREE, YOU MUST HAVE GOOGLE VOICE CREDIT ***
Voice Features:
Dial - gVo dials your google number, enters your pin number (if you have one) then dials the person you want to call (from manual dial or contacts list). Basically, it does what you can do by yourself, but in an automated way. Also, this method allows your google number to show up to the person you're calling.
Online Features:
SMS - Logs you into google's site, and pastes in the number you dialed or selected from contacts. You should be tabbed into the text field ready to text!
CallBack - Logs you into google's site, and pastes in the number you dialed or selected from contacts, then automatically clicks call. After that, you may have to choose which callback number, but if you only have one callback number, it should only ask you once, then be automatic from then on.
Both Online features will also let you check your voicemail, and do other things to/with your google voice account.
(DONT FORGET, ONLINE FEATURES USE DATA/INTERNET! SO DONT ENABLE IT IF YOU DONT HAVE A DATA PLAN!)
Anyhow visit google's website for more info on Google Voice.
And oh yeah, I do not take any responsibility for any harm this application does to you whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, etc. Also, I am in no way affiliated with Google, so all logos and whatever belong to them. I did this in my spare time, with the intention to share with everyone else in this great XDA community. **Also realize that I'm not trying to make the ultimate best google voice application with bells and whistles, I just want to make it easy and simple to use.**
Enough of my blabbering and here is the cab, enjoy!
Tips:
If you enable gVo Online = Google Voice Callback, SMS, Account Settings, VoiceMail (uses default internet connection)
If you disable gVo Online = Google Voice Call (Calling Card Method)
For gVo Calling Card method, you can either dial the number or get a number from the contacts list.
For gVo Online, you can also dial the number or get a contact's number, then connect to gVo Online which defaults to the SMS feature. If you need the number you selected, its in the system clipboard, so just paste it.
nice.. i want to be able to use this with wifi if possible... without using the phone method. keep up the good work bro

keep in mind that with cdma phones a call will go to voicemail if the phone is connected with (active?) 1x data (EVDO/3g connections will pause for calls)
I'm not sure if it's possible to send the call back request and terminate the connection fast enough, but I'm willing to test if you find a way to try.
edit; further test proved my suspicion that you can be connected with 1x, but no data sessions can be active. there is a registry entry to control this (evdo or 1x)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings]
"SuspendResume"
Works great on my HTC Touch Pro Please please add the SMS please Please

Hmm.. I did a hard reset and tested it on my device, and all is working fine. Make sure you entered your google username and password and number/pin correctly. interesting
I am also on energy rom on a Touch Pro, Fuze to be exact. I am running the latest build as of this writing, which would be the august 11th 09 build. I have no problems at all...well the online mode pretty much blows(Onedialer isn't much better here either), takes FOREVER to load the GV page, the calling card method works great, however perhaps you have to many pauses here and there cause the GV Dialer uses the same method but zips through a little faster.
However I like your implementation better as the GV dialer asks which service to use everytime you make a call, whereas yours can be assigned as a softkey and used only when needed. I was using iDialer in the same fashion however, in order to call from a contact you needed to install iContact in addition, whereas yours uses the existing windows list. Cool.
If you could speed up the calling card method(try the GVdialer trial and see for yourself) and mabye implement the sms in the same way or better as one dialer, then yours would be byfar the best in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Hey, thanks a lot for the comment. This definately will help me better understand how to improve it. Yeah, I haven't tried GVdialer yet so I'll have to find time and try it out, maybe I can impliment a similar sms solution. I just wanted an easy way for people to connect to their google accounts. Basically as an all-in-one online feature. I'll see what I can do! Thanks again!
If I use it without the internet it works fine... but as soon as I click the checkbox... I click connect a blank page comes up... then after a few seconds the program just closes.

Ok, so I tested both GVdialer and OneDialer, and they are basically using the same method I am.
About the calling card method, you have to wait for google's prompts and then enter the your selection. So there isn't a real way to speed it up much more than it is already because I'm using the most minimum pauses I can. In fact, as soon as you hit dial, my application sends the number string with pauses included to the built in dialer, then my application exits. So my application actually has nothing to do with the dialing after you hit the dial button. (You can listen in after it connects to google and hear it dial against google's prompts) The only way to really optimize the speed is to make a real standalone dialer and time the google prompts with your selection, but even then, you'll only save a second or two.
About the SMS features, because google doesn't have a real api yet, we have to improvise, and so what we're essentially doing is logging into google's website first to get credentials then we can send the text. The only difference between onedialer and mine is that onedialer has a built in SMS form, which is what I had originally too but I thought it would just be better to just use an all in one solution (the google site itself). Because no matter what, you'll always have to log into the site to get the credentials first, hence the long wait.
Once google provides us with a real api, we'll be able to provide faster solutions.
Ok, anyhow, that was a semi technical explanation, sorry if it was confusing.

Ok, it's most likely a connection problem then. Are you connected to the internet? My application "should" try to connect you if you're not already connected but maybe something in your settings isn't allowing it to connect. Try connecting to the internet first(wifi or data plan), make sure you can browse the internet first, then run the gVo application and see if that makes a difference.
When you hit the "Google Online" button, all it does is connect to google's website. If it comes back as a plain page, then it's just not reaching google's site. So I assume its more of a connection problem.
Would this work on a Axim x51v just to control GV, like you can from the web site?
