I can understand if you are using a stylus that the Quick Menu size is ok, but for using your fingers, don't you find it too small and awkward? Same goes for the x and Ok buttons on the top right.
How do I know if - when surfing on Opera - I am connected to 3g or GPRS?
And how do I connect to my Wifi at home? Does it automatically pick up the wifi instead of 3G if it finds it?
Thanks
Jon

Friends,
Anyone know the hack how to remove the 3G icon via registry hack? I looked around and didn't see anything out there.
Also, I no longer use AT&T data plan, how do I automatically set wifi connection to trigger when viewing web pages, email?
Please advise and thank you for your help!

1)Dont think you can remove the 3G icon, but i use wktask to cover it up and other unwanted icons(battery, volume, etc) its adjustable.
2)If you dont use the dataplan i suggest using Modacco Nodata to disable gprs and medianet. Its a good way to make sure you dont accidently use their service. can save you a loottt of money!
3)As for automatically set wifi, dont think there is one. Its just best to leave it on. In my opinion wifi doesnt consume that much battery when its on(aside from just being used to surf, etc. and it shuts off when phone is sleeping). But then again, you have to consider the issues of wifi availability, and configuration settings(wep, etc).
thank you for the quick reply!
I figured a way how to keep medianet, that is in the network settings by not selecting it for primary dial connection.
Looked everywhere to turn off the GPRS icon couldn't find it.

heres another quick reply!
as mentioned in my earlier post, use this for a quick way to enable/disable medianet and gprs.
Thanx for the info..
The one thing that bothers me is the GPRS icon at the top with the message "no data connections are found" message.
I wish there was a way to remove that.

Hello i have this issue with data connection it seems to have started since using gremote, but that maybe nothing to do with it. when bluetooth is enabled i get a icon at the top of the screen with 2 arrows pointing left and right when i tap on this it says network card connected witht he options to go to comm manager it also shows orange mms (hsdpa) and i cant use any data services such as weather tab out brows the internet on ie or opera. is i close bluetooth this goes away and arrows turn in to a H and all data connections work fine.
what have i done wrong? i was also using the phone as a router but have removed that application to no affect as it was just a trial.
can anyone advise?
thanks
ANYONE? its driving me nuts!
Hi
I’m having a problem with data connections and my network. In the top right hand corner on the home page, when the “G” box is displayed beside the signal bars everything is fine. However when the device detects another connection like 3G, H or E and is then displayed on the top corner instead of the “G” I cannot send/receive texts and it’s the same for phone calls. Is there a way to stop the device showing these as it is really annoying to only be able to send texts and make calls only when the “G square” is displayed. can i some how stop other data connections and just have the "G", as only when the “G” is displayed does my network work correctly. Has anyone else had this? And how can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance.
You might have tried this but disable GSM in the Comm Manager and see what happens. Might also make sure the HSDPA is disabled in the settings..
Are you using the stock ROM? what version?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I think I may have solved it by using a new comm Manager with the option of turning 3G off, so far looks good. I will give it a few days testing and see. I will get back to you if any further problems exist, cheers.
Ok... so it's a royal pain in my butt lol because when I have wifi turned on for pandora or something, then it turns off my HSDPA. Fine, normally. But, if someone is sending me a pic, I can't download it, then, frequently, it disappears into cyberspace. It's always weird asking them to send it again haha
So, is there a way to fix that? Or is it just.. what it is lol
Regards
Smith
Bump... N needs a fix
are you using a toggle for 3g? thats your problem
[Me] - I have wifi ON and using the POWER MENU ONLY (hold power) have data turned OFF.
when i get or send a MMS it will temporarily show 3g/h AND WORKS.
if you use many of the other toggles out there (not built in) they TOTALLY disable your 3g or change your APN settings to fake disable it. this will put you in your situation.
android thought of this and added it (working correctly too) in 2.2 to the power menu.
So if I'm using the wifi toggle, not 3g toggle as I'm running 2.2.1 not cm7, then this problem will be created??
i never said anyting about CM7....
wifi toggle in the notification bar ON
data connection in the Power Menu (hold power button) OFF / ON doesnt matter.
the phone automatically shuts off 3g when wifi is connected and will ONLY use 3g for MMS
then it works like you want and i said before.
So, I open up my notification drawer and toggle wifi. That's all I do...
Do I need to do anything with long-press power key menu?? Am I misunderstanding something??
thats all i do. and if i leave the house and dont want my widgets or email using my 3g, i disable data connection in the power menu.
turn on data to receive..
WINNING!
So strange, because when I do that, my phone doesn't turn 3g on to download mms :/ it's obnoxious lol
EPIC WINNING! xD
My wife just got a Droid Turbo on Sunday & I'm noticing something odd w/the quick tiles; they don't turn on/off radios. For example, when she clicks "WiFi", rather than turning the WiFi radio on, it takes her to the WiFi settings page...same with Bluetooth.
Is that common for everyone else? I don't recall this happening with other phones, as it would just turn on/off the particular radio.
Just figured I'd ask the community.
Thanks,
POB
Same thing here the first time. I then selected my network and signed in. Now it works fine, logs into my network and shuts off my 4g connection. Was that the issue also?

Single tap does take you to the menu but long press will toggle on/off. It works for data, wifi, location, and bluetooth.
