3G Diamond for sale (Canada/US) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi guys,
Well, the shop that originally sold me the GSM Diamond has exchanged it to the proper 3G unlocked version.
Do not want to go through the bother with shipping back to Japan and dealing with customs. Besides I pre-ordered my Touch Pro with expansys
Thus, I have a new 3G model up for grabs. I paid 750 Canadian for it. Will let it go for 650 CDN.
Thanks.

This would be 3G on Rogers Network? Are you sure of this?
Has it been opened our used yet?

There is no network associated with this. It should be an HTC Retail version that is 3G capable hardware wise. Weather you choose to use it in a 3G network area is up to yourself.
It would be unopened but to be honest I have asked my friend to open it and make sure that it is the correct model that the shop is exchanging for me. So, in actuality it will be opened but unused. He is just going to make sure it is indeed unlocked and 3G.
The reason for this is when I orginally bought the diamond from this shop before returning to Japan they gave me the Indian GSM model, which they are not exchanging as mentioned.
I guess if it is a huge issue to anyone I can ask him not to open it and go by the specs on the box. Buyers choice. But, I need to know as the new one should be in by Thursday.
thx

Careful potential buyers, there is no Diamond, with any ROM, that currently supports North American 3G bands... Only 900/2100mhz. Does not have the hardware necessary to do so.

Thanks for that. Perhaps the best thing is for me to ship it back to Japan and sell here. Not sure if this can be included in any future radio/rom update/upgrade at this point.
But it is the 3G version but as mentioned about supports 1900/2100 frequencies.
Currently:
HSDPA/WCDMA:
*
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
*
Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds

Yeah, didn't wanna be a jerk and get you out of a sale, but people should know what they're buying. I'd ship it back to Japan if I were you, that's probably your best bet (unless someone would rather have EDGE on their Diamond now than 3G on it in a few months).

np,
I would just recommend that anyone thinking about it read the specs on the HTC site for the current model.
thx

I'm gonna keep this thread alive for the next 3 days, then it will be closed and cleaned up!

USA Version - Official Waiting Thread

This thread will be for anyone who has specific info on the release of the USA version of the Diamond (DIAM200) with US 3G bands.
I'll start... so far this is all I've seen. It's a start, but it's from May 9th so who knows what's changed by now, and a price range would be nice.
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7344.html
If you know anything... post it here!
I have heard that it might not be till August/Sept before the USA version is released...i cant remember the site where i read it from but the person did say it could be end of summer before the American version is released.
I have the Diamond now..pending some performance fixes, I will be grabbing the US model when its released!
Its coming in July.... Early July... mobilecityonline just got back to me with this info and they will have it! They will also get the touch pro one month after the euro version comes out.... Not too bad.

yes they told me the same thing.....i hope it turns out to be true.
This is one of the things that bothers me about the Diamond. Here in Brazil HSDPA bands are 850 and 2100 MHz, so we will probably need a specific model.
Did they happen to say what US bands will be on it? ATT or Tmobile? Contract is up in August and replacing my wing with a touch pro one way or another

99.9% chance it'll be ATT USA Bands (850+1900) like every other HTC NA model out there...who knows though, maybe they'll throw the 1700 on there for ****s and giggles but I doubt it!
Has anyone tested the UK model to see if it actually has 850 on it and working? It wouldn't be the first time...
Just curious.

If i recall correctly, someone did check and it doesnt come with the 850 band on it...this is the asian version though. The proper UK models havent been released yet in the UK...next week is what they are saying.
If you have bought a diamond recently from Expansys or ebay, then its not a UK spec model but a grey import from Hong Kong ie its an asian unit.
I hope this includes the Raphael as well.
The GMS bands of the phone work fine in the us?
It only supports the 1900 band, right? Is there complete coverage in the US?

ATT you will have problems with this phone as much of their network, including NYC, is only 850mhz. Tmobile USA however is 100% 1900 w/ Full EDGE so you should get a good experience with this phone on Tmo!

I work for tmobile and i have confirmed that the diamond will be available through tmobile... but not until the 4th quarter. No exact date and thats all i could get the htc rep to spill.
t-mobile US?
yes tmobile us
4th Qtr. 2008 that sucks...
I, couldn't wait for the US version, so I ordered mine last week & it was sent from Asia. The phone works great with T-Mobile, EDGE is pretty quick & voice calls are crystal clear so far.

HTC Diamond World or US? Need Help ASAP!

Right now I have a choice between original HTC Diamond or the US version but I am not sure which one to pick. Can anyone please shed some light on this? Thank you in advance!
it would help if you were to mention where you live (US vs. Europe) and travel to, and other things factoring into your decision. if you're in the US (e.g., live here) go with the US version because it has the correct 3G radio; high-speed internet access on your phone AND 850 band which provides better signal..
Sorry, I live in US and on T-Mobile network.
Main difference between the EU and US models lies in the 3G/HSDPA data connections. While serious doubts/uncertainties on the use of EU model for 3G on T-Mobile (only 26 cities in the US so far) have been raised (details can be found in this thread), the US model will allow you to use the 3G/HSDPA data connection should you decide to switch to AT&T in the future. Second, the EU model has a front camera for video conferencing, but I was told neither T-Mobile nor AT&T would make this option available to their phone customers at this time. There are software available through Wifi for video conferencing as I learned from this thread, and you would need the EU model to do it if it works (I haven't tried). Google Maps, third, is not installed in the EU model, but there is a CAB file to be downloaded from this thread or the google website. Price wise, at last, the US model is a little cheaper than the EU model by $10-$20 USD (may due to the lack of the front camera?). There have been reports in this thread about yellow/green/wash-out background in the US model. This may be something you want to check closely if you want to consider the US model.
I read some other thread here which points out that the Euro version has the yellow spots and yellow tint problem, not the US version.

good clarification on the 3G network; T-Mobile uses, I believe, the 1700 3G band in the US and att uses the 850/1900 3G band. also, if you weren't aware, the US version of the Diamond is available at Best Buy Mobile, typically located in Best Buy stoes.

Then probably yellow tints/stripes are found for both models:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426319&page=10, which is for the US 3G Diamond.. sigh
@cortez.i: Thank you for confirming the complicated 3G issues
The US version is also more easily returned and exchanged by just going into a Best Buy and it will be better covered under the warranty from HTC. HTC is not pleased that companies like Expansys sell Euro HTC phones to customers in the US and says it won't fully cover those phones. You can't use either model on 3G on T-Mobile USA, so for you the main difference would be the warranty.

[Q] Which 'version' of the Droid 3 will work the best in Europe / The Netherlands?

At the moment there are known several 'versions' of the Motorola Droid 3...
My question is: Which version is the best for using in Europe / The Netherlands?
I'm using the Vodafone network here in The Netherlands and I want to buy the best version of this device,
which is fully working and compatible with the HSDPA-network out here, which is 14.4Mbps (at the moment)
So which version is best:
1. Motorola XT883, for sale in China
At the moment there is no information about supported networks, standbytime, prices or (sim)locks...
2. Motorola Droid 3, for sale in the USA with supported networks:
WCDMA 850/1900/2100, CDMA 800/1900, GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSDPA 10.2 Mbps (Category 9/10), CDMA EV-DO Release A, EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
Standbytime is 300 hours and you can call 550 minutes with it.
Disadvantages of this version:
- It is known that it has got a Verizon-provider(sim)lock
- It supports HSDPA speeds up to 10.2Mbps
- It has got several Verizon bloatware on board
- It has got several Verizon logo's on the outside of the device
Advantage of this version:
- The price, which is only $429,00 if I'm correct
(an unlockcode will cost you about $30 via eBay)
- The (XDA)community, which is probably the best for this version
3. Motorola XT860 4G, for sale in Canada with supported networks:
WCDMA 850/1900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps (Category 9/10), EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
Standbytime is 240 hours and you can call 580 minutes with it.
What is not known about this version at the moment:
- Will this version have a providerlock / simlock?
- Will this version have providerbloatware just like the Droid 3?
- Price for only the phone, without a contract, is unknown?
Advantages of this version:
- It supports HSDPA speeds up to 14.4Mbps
- It hasn't got several logo's of the provider on the outside of the device!
My own conclusion
At the moment I thinks the Motorola XT860 4G is the best option...
And I'm still waiting for the Motorola XT883 specifications offcourse.. What do you think? Thanks in advance!
Several topics on XDA / Droidforums about using the Droid 3 outside the USA:
-Droid 3 in GSM?
-Droid 3 sim unlock discussion
-Droid 3 unlockable
-Droid 3 Verizon vs. Unlocked vs. China version..?
Wonderful topic/questions, and the answers interest me also, for the same Vodafone network, also in Europe.
I am trying to purchase the Droid 3 from USA, at this time.
Also, from where can we buy D3/Milestone 3 in Europe?
The most important network is WCDMA. It will show for you with H or 3.5G mark.
(HSDPA is showing as 3G Mark.
EGPRS is showing as E or 2G
and GPRS is showing as G or 2G.)
If phone is equipped with it, it should work everywhere in Europe. I am planning also this phone. And Verizon brand marks looks good..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
and where from can we buy it? on verizon they said it can be bought only with a 2years contract...
You can buy it without a contract as well from verizon for $459. I just bought it this weekend.
Unfortunatelly, they did not allow a friend of mine to do so..
So any other online store which sends it to europe?
Even if you can buy it, how do you intend to handle SIM unlocking? AFAICS, third party codes are not yet confirmed to work.
The only chance I see right now is to buy on ebay and to convince the seller to obtain the codes from Verizon for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172521
http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlock-Code-Ver...500?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5df4bddc
or possibly TURBO SIM?
or perhaps buy it directly from Moto-store, if i were to be in the USA
http://www.store.motorola.com/Motor...dtextbin,subjectbin,color_map,price,size_name
I didn't realize there is already a confirmed third party unlock. Thank you!
its also in the first post of this topic

So, any of the Canadian or USA version will work fine in Europe? (being unlocked, of course) ?
Just ordered the phone from Motorola store you mentioned above. Have it shipped to Germany with borderlinx. Should work...
Why do you doubt it could work? UMTS band 2100 is good enough for Europe, at least Germany, but I think for most other countries as well. Just the same as with D2G.
I should not choose for the Droid 3 if I were me =p
The disadvantages have I mentioned in the first post.
Bloatware, logo's on the phone, not the best HSDPA speeds..
Okay it will work in Europe, but it's not the 'best version' I think..
HSDPA speeds, OK, technically you are right, this is a real disadvantage -- however I doubt I'd really feel the difference, for many reasons ...
Regarding the bloatware, I will get rid of it with another launcher, like Launcher Pro. Just as with D2G.
And the logo is unobtrusive, at least for me.
Of course it is not the 'best version' -- but available NOW.
@CLB-NL, and what do you chose for Europe? Wait for milestone 3 launched for Eu especially?
and what if i buy the D3 without contract? than it should be sim-unlocked?
Any information regarding the Canada version? like..price..sim- blocked??
Something buying a Milestone 2 taught me, is that the US variant (Droid) will get about eleven thousand times more dev support here.
@ rweb: with installing another launcher you still have got the bloatware!
We have to wait for rootacces and then we can delete that crap!
@ bogdan_wrc: personally I think the XT860 4G is the best version to use at the moment of writing this. Offcourse we have to wait for some answers. Simlock, bloatware, price and so on, but it's just my opinion... And we have to wait for the official Milestone XT883 specs also!
@ Sjael: the support is an advantage of the Droid 3, that's true!

But I do not see it anymore, so I don't mind. It may waste some resources, but I don't think this is very much. At least it works out this way on my D2G, and I asume it we be the same with D3.
It will probably work the same =)
And with the standard launcher you also can 'hide' it.
Just create a Verizon folder with all the bloatware apps and don't show / use it.

[Q] Which model did I just buy...???

Does anyone out there know the model (region) specific LTE configurations?
I just bought an HTC one (waiting for international delivery).. it was model 801n.. I could not find much data on it, but I did find some info at pdadb.net, which suggests that this model has the following LTE bands:
Secondary+Cellular+Phone
Dual-Cellular-Network;Operation: Selectable cellular module
Secondary-Cellular+Networks: LTE700 (B17), LTE850 (B5), LTE1700/2100 (B4), LTE1900 (B2)
Secondary;Cellular;Data-Links: LTE
Secondary+Cellular;Antenna: Internal antenna
Which means it will work on ATT, but I have been unable to validate this. So far HTC has come back with the official - it's a UK market model, so we cant' help you with that, but I have put in a follow up question. hopefully they can help.
I believe the most common model is the 801E, which appears to be the 800 1600 2600 model, which will not work...
It is driving me nuts, as I really took a risk and bought it without confirmation and paid a high price...
Anyone have more/better data?
Many thanks,
Nick

I found it on Ebay, saw they had the box in hand, so confirmed the model and part number, searched like heck to try and figure out what the model number meant. Only found the info listed on the PDADB site.
I also called HTC in Taiwan and contacted the UK and US HTC support sites by email to try and get confirmation of what LTE types is has, but just get official non-answers.. There has to be a document somewhere at HTC with all the model numbers that lists the differences... It is shocking that this cannot be found.
Anyway, seller said he bought it from an official HTC seller in the England (GB).
I am also wondering whether this could be the dev model?? I assume that was released in GB after the carrier launch.
Needless to say I am anxious to figure out what I have actually purchased... And a little pissed off that I cannot find a definitive answer anywhere.
Arrggg.. anyway, it should be here in a day or two, so I will find out soon enough...

Model 801n is the uk model for sure, I preordered one from phones4u, a company here sells phones on all network, not sure what's the equivalent in us though. I assume you bought it from someone who did the same as me, since as far as I know, phones4u was the only place you can get the One in the past two weeks, and their phones come unlocked to any network.
But it is definitely not developer version cos it's not available in uk.
If you checked what frequency band the 801n supports and it matches at&t's frequency, then you should be able to use the phone without problem.
So just relax it will all be fine.

Well - it is here and .. no LTE..
I have to figure out whether it really has the secondary LTE radio with the US bands like PDAdb.net says it has.. And how to enable it, if that is the case.

If it's the UK Model then in the US you'll be able to get everything apart from LTE. If you look at the reviews on YouTube, all the models they got were the European versions and they could only get 3G in the US.
Seems like it is mostly working, but the signal is weaker then my optimus g, note 2 and bb z10... And even eight a good signal the data indicator keeps toggling between H and 3G... Anyone know how and if I can optimize the phone for att?

[Q] Convert US to Global version?

Hi guys,
I am from Europe and lost my Smartphone on a holiday in the US. So I went to bestbuy and bought a Moto G 2nd unlocked. I told the lady I am from Europe and need it to work in Europe. Nevertheless now back at home i found out she sold me the US version instead of the Global one and i get no 3g connection here in Austria. (yeah they had both versions at stock for the same price, but now its to late)
So is there any possibility i can get my XT1064 (US version) to XT1063 (Global) by flashing ROMs or anything else? Or are the phones different in terms of hardware and I have now a nearly useless phone here in Austria while being without wifi coverage?
Thanks for any information
Daniel
I'm curious about this also as I'm planning on traveling in EU. From what I've gathered it would be a no on 3G.I would guess it is going to be a hardware problem since the US version does not feature 2100 MHz data.

Yeah thats the exact problem. I do not get a 3G signal cause the US version misses the 2100 MHz band, so in Europe you just are able to use EDGE as a maximum with the US version
I'm guessing that it's only returnable in store if returnable at all. If it's that new you could go the Ebay route and offer a good discount. It may sell fairly quickly, especially with the prices some of those sellers ask.

Sending stuff from Europe to the US is a pain *****, since US authorities check everything. So yeah, i just have to stick with i wasted 190 bucks on a wifi internet only phone
That's probably why it took a month to get a pineapple corer I ordered. It sat in NY for 3 weeks. You can never be too careful with those pineapple corers.
