You do get the question, during initial (first-time) boot, if you want to encrypt.
I guess, you could reset the device (erasing ALL data) and choose encryption at that point, instead of choosing "skip"

...entcryption is not the feature he wants!
Entcryption: When eg the memory card will be stolen (I know the diamond has no card) that the whole datas on it will be useless!

to lock files and folders I found a program called File Barricader
http://www.mysoco.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=8
And its free from what I can tell...

i really want to lock files and folders with a password, not encrypting....but anyway thank u alot.

By definition a file/folder has to be encrypted in order to protect it with a password otherwise it would be possible to access the file via alternative means and bypass the protection.
Whilst not freeware, but offering lots more features besides, I can recommend Resco Explorer which allows you to protect files in this manner using a choice of encryption methods. I'm not sure if it can protect folders (I suspect not).

Exactly! Read up a bit on the issue security before stating s..... things like encryption is not what is wanted.
What would be the point of password protection or similar, if you could just hook it up on USB and read your stuff anyway ?
Encryption uses password as the "key" to decrypt (or other means, like biometric, RSA tokens on ordinairy PC's).
Like posted, try 3rd party software like any suggested. Or hard-reset phone and use WM6 build in during initial setup.

He probably just wants to protect his pron pictures from casual snooping.

Question on Ty-Tn II

Excuse me for the imperfect english...
Exists a program (possibly free) that it allows to block access to one determined folder where I can only approach I.? Thanks.
Your question isn't really clear, however if you want to access folders, there's a built in file explorer that you can use.
Maybe you're after some sought of security app, which password protects certain folders which you want protecting? If that's the case, can anybody help? Sorry but i do not know of any...
I think he is asking for a program that password protects folders so that only he can access them.
Simply Google for encryption software for Pocket PC's. There are loads of them for sale and some are even freeware.

App for password protecting folders

Is there a software (preferably freeware, if none, then to buy) to make passwords or some sort of protection for folders on the HTC Touch Diamond to encrypt and protect others from accessing my files? Please do tell me if you know any.
I'm also looking for something to put passwords on my folders.
im lso lookng forvsomeway to password my messages in particular, bit assume that this isnt possible due to TF3D??
I dunno actually. I hope someone knows about a software. I would buy it if there was no freeware software =/
Nobody knows of any software for this?
Sentry 2020 adds a virtual sd-card to your diamond and can have strong encryption. works great on my

I found this one for free:
MOD EDIT: We do not support Warez! Let this be your first and last warning!
An other (very good one) is Secubox. It not free.
Herbie
http://www.cypherix.com/cryptainerppcle/index.htm is also a free option
Another alternative
FreeOTFE4PDA (http://www.FreeOTFE.org/) does the same sort of thing as sentry2020 and secubox (creates a virtual storage card), but is opensource (free), and pretty good.
Buy hidemystuff.
It works like a charm on the diamond.
You have to buy it , its not for free
But it WORKS!!!!!!

Anti theft tool inside a cooked ROM

Hello, is there a coocked ROM which include an anti theft tool ? or a way to add it easily because of course it needs a personnal configuration file...
thanks
Antiteft
Hi,
I played with Antiteft software a few times.
Problem is I think, if you cook it in the personal setting should be cooked in as well other wise you lose your settings after a hardreset.
These ones I tried:
Remote tracker, made by Joubervasc:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394203
Also Sprite Terminator commercial:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/
This one I didn't try yet but looks good:
JRTRemote - J2ME Remote Tracker Client App, made by Alt236
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462597
Is it complicated to add a config file to a cooked ROM?
for the moment I use IIWPO (the cab it's easy to customize) associated to UC compliant ROM...it's better than nothing while waiting a real solution from xda monsters
I think you misunderstand, a personal config is complicated to add.
Personal password/settings, it's different for every person.

a possibility: sending IMEI to a central server, where individual users with individual passwords could access the information....
One could also save on the SIM an encrypted IMEI. if it doesn't match the one of the telephone or it is absent - then the telephone could send its GPS position to the server and inform the registered user.
....unfortunately, everything relies on a server --> service...

that's a good idea because it won't need any personnal settings to be cooked inside the ROM but as you said we need a common server to be setup... but the best is surely to send info via SMS I think and then it needs a phone number to be setup...

in fact the IIWPO cab it's customizable with personal owner info before installed into device so, when added to SDconfig.txt list, after a hard reset it's immediately operative

Folder lock app?

hi,
does anyone know of a folder lock app?
where u can lock a specific folder with a password (password needed to enter folder every time u press to open it). or a app like a safe, where u start up the app - enter password - then see all the files.

saw the software in the first link yesterday. is it any good?
the second link seems to be for pc only. (i have a folder lock for pc already, much appreciated thought).
i downloaded spb wallet thinking that would do the job only to find it does not let u lock folders but only lets u save numbers, serials, card details to pre made templates.
I used to have 2 folder encryption apps. Ill post links when I get home.
I did try that Best Crypto one, but I only tried encrypting a file not a folder, so I don't know if it works for folders. I haven't tried the java apps.
A friend of mine uses that app from the second link to encrypt files on his home PC, put them on his phone and transfer them to his work PC. Kinda weird, but I decided to drop the link just in case .
I used another app to lock folders a long time ago, but I cannot remember the name . I'll post it if I remember it lol.
Resco Explorer has an encryption option as well, but you are locking for locking not encrypting right?
