Two Cameras? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

This question is for the people who already have or used the Diamond.
I'm wondering why there are two cameras on this phone. I just noticed there's one on the front and back. Is there any special features for this phone to carry two cameras?

i need a front camera for kaiser

HI all i desperately need a front-facing vga camera 'cause i wanna do like our brothers did on hermes, installing a vga camera for video calling, i live in italy and i can use that. Can anyone send me a spare kaiser front camera or point me to a shop that sells it? Are the hermes' front cameras the same? thanks in advance!
buy a tytn II and sell your tilt on ebay
not a smart move
i prefer to do-it-myself because i dont wanna sell my tilt, i worked so much for having it and i wanna upgrade it, does anyone knows if the front camera of the hermes is the same as the tytn2? thank you.
I think the point is really that lots of people have asked about this and no one has been successful, as it appears that the tilt is missing hardware support for the front camera.
Your cheapest option might be to sell the tilt and get a tytn ii.
The only way to check this out is disassembling my tilt and see if there is any connector for cam like the At&t hermes do. thank you for the reply
RE: front camera conversion quest
I have some international friends that I would ery much enjoy calling via video, but I unfortunately have my service through AT&T,being in the US.
After a very frustrating search, I found the front camera on EBAY-
http://cgi.ebay.com/FRONT-CAMERA-RE...hash=item330269991993&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
I also read in another thread that these are basically plug and go, and once in, one could istall a new ROM, and then make the calls- (network restrictions aside). My hope is that someone far more talented than myself will handle the hardware install/conversion, and successfully utilize the front camera. Then I could at least know it can be done, set up my device, then when I find a network that will support the call formats I require, set up my service and make the calls as I wish.
So- anyone out there who can furher this endeavor, thank you beforehand!
The seller says that the camera that he's selling will not fit on a Tytn II.
i'll try to fit the cam on that link on my tilt but it can take long time 'cause the seller is in HK and i'm in Italy and 'cause in this moment i'm with no money on pocket...i got no job ...keep me informed...
already try to fit a hermes camera on a tilt, it is not even close to fit!,
the housing has the hole and the board the connector
on the other hand I Try a video call with my tilt and I can see the other party but i can't show anything (video, picture, back camera)
anyway to make the system think it has a front camera so it allow me to use back camera?
or any place where they sell the front camera?
because of my experience when the front camera of my hermes get disconected I couldn't switch to the back camera, so I think there is something that tells the system there is no camera atached on the front
thanks in advance
sorry about my poor english
regards
The point is that noone sells tytnII cam, it's like the mda VarioII cam so if u have a mda VarioII take it apart and get the cam, 'cuz the tytn II front cam isn't a simple vga cam but a 0.3mpx cam. thanks for the replies, i'll keep you informed about changes.

No, because there's no point in doing it. You want a front cam, get a Tytn 2 instead of a Tilt. Easy...
I wouldn't want to start drilling my front case to add the camera if even possible (the Tilt might not even have the camera connector inside). Buying a cam and another front cover with the hole would most likely cost more than selling your tilt and buying a Tytn 2. With the loss of warranty and added risk of screwing things up.

External Antenna

Hi , does anyone know if its possible to attach an external antenna ( for the cell phone not the gps or wifi ) on an htc magic. Im guessing it would have to connect thru the mini usb port. Cant seem to find my answer, I only come accross passive repeaters. Thank you
Bump. I'm interested in actually modding the phone if needed.
doubt it, magic is one of the phones that have the lowest amount of mods in the market (the tmobile mytouch variation only has 1 legitamate carrier for housings for example). plus the antenna is a sticker-- open up your backdoor, two stickers by the camera. but I suggest to get a better signal dont put your hand on the top by the camera while texting or calling, and take off any cover you may have on the back like pouches and etc...
wow, no wonder the signal it pulls is so weak
idk what you guys are talking about, the signal is great for me. My gf has the slide and i always have one signal lvl better than her. (3g>edge)
The stickers by the camera are for Bluetooth and GPS. How do I know? Cause the part number is printed on them. 'Amphenol-BT-090601' and 'Amphenol-GPS-090601'

HTC HD7 Camera and sound issues

Hi guys,
For those unfortunate owners of HTC HD7? Any updates on the camera and sound issues.
The camera does not focus properly on distant objects not very far though.
The sound on the speakers is weak during calls. Need a booster app.
Thanks,
Get the Sound Enhancer app in the HTC Hub. I haven't used it yet but it gets good reviews.

Do you even own a HTC HD7. the sound enhancer app is just to control equalizer settings.

I'd highly recommend re-thinking your thread starting structure. You're not going to get many answers if you begin like this.
I personally believe (and you'll probably find 99% of other users who frequent the HD7 section of these forums feel the same) that there isn't a better device on the market today. So to call us "unfortunate owners" is kind of insulting.
But i'll tell you what i've told others on similar threads, i personally haven't noticed any problems with the camera and i haven't really noticed the volume not being loud enough. Perhaps it's due to personal use, or maybe you've got a dodgy device, i dunno.

Yes, I do own an HD7, and no, it's not really for just EQ settings. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, you only get EQ options when you use headphones.
It allows you to Choose Dolby or SRS for both Audio and Video. Equalizer specifically says for headphones or external speakers only. If you want to lump Dolby and SRS into that definition, fine.
All I can say, is that it makes quite a difference when playing youtube or netflix. Quite noticable.
( I use SRS )
you guys know if the htc 7 surround has a better camera? i heard the camera on this was horrid. may be getting the hd7 soon

Same here. What i would like to see is Windows Phone 7 OS on nokia devices. that would be a real winner and viable threat to Apple and Google.
But that is never going to happen i guess.

that would be awesome. im really sad at htcs quality. they make a "HD" phone and you cant even see angles of it lol. nokia would blast all these phones away, im waiting till acer releases their wp7, or asus. for now i will go with the HD7 even though the screen is poo compared to the focus

To be honest it isn't like he isn't somewhat justified. I mean how can you mess up the speaker and camera on a phone that is nearly identical to its predacesor. My old school touch pro 2 speaker must be at least 3 times louder than this and the camera is just a joke. I put it side by side with an hd2 and it was like night and day.

its mostly to do with the software. yeah i had the htc pure and the speaker was awesome in it. the camera is awesome on my mytouch 4g, the software is also awesome on sense. WP7 has sh*t camera software. thats all our cameras our pretty much, crappy cameras, and software to make them look good. Nokia is the only company that has made cell phone camera that are actually good without the software. and the touch pro two had two speakers in the back, or thats what i remember lol. it was one of the big features of it, just like the HTC surround. the HD7 has the big screen, thats the feature. HTC wont put all their quality into one phone cause then nobody would but the rest. you want good speaker - surround, you want big screen - HD7, you want awesome keyboard - HTC 7 pro, etc. they wont make a phone with a nice keyboard, perfect screen size, amoled screen, good speaker all into one. the closest they got is the incredible.

[Q] Basic Problems with HTC One M7

I'm a HTC One user..and i had to search so many pages just to find out all the basic problems with HTC One device..so now i'm making a specific thread for this..
This list will help those people who are planning to buy HTC One, have planned to buy HTC One or have already bought HTC One.
I'm gonna list down the problems with this device in 2 categories..first the very common problem with the device and second the rare problems that only few people are facing..
This post will be regularly updated depending on the people comments..so if you have any problem with your device people do comment on this thread..i will read each and every comment and update the data..
Common Problems
1. Gap Problem : The gap between the speaker grill and the body..both at top and bottom. Since HTC is promoting this phone as 'ZERO GAP' phone..this manufacturing fault is unacceptable.. http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/628/img2897q.jpg
2. Camera Problem : I have personally faced this problem.
Picture : http://i.imgur.com/vQ0b0np.jpg
Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4p7a9tdNVYo&feature=youtu.be
Thread for this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507
This problem is noticeable when you take pictures in low light. By default if you take a picture in a dark room..the picture should be black..since no light source is available..but in defective HTC One it's red/purple.
Again this is totally unacceptable since HTC has marketed this phone as the best phone for low light pictures..
3. Loudspeaker : This problem was there in my first device..when at maximum volume..there is a hissing sound from the speakers.. This sound/vibration is also visible when calling someone..or when you play music at max volume.
Again HTC has marketed this device as the phone with the best sound speakers..so i have no idea whether HTC has a Q&C dept or not..because the quality is really poor..
4 Dead Pixels : Many people have reported dead pixels..
5. Proximity Sensor: The proximity sensor is not working in few devices.
Other Problems
1. The home and back button weren't working properly..but after the update i think it's working fine.
2. Few people have noticed purple tint in the center of the pictures taken by the camera...
3. Mic problem
4. Death Grip
5. Cracked Camera Glass
There is no possible solution for the above issues..the only possible thing to do is to get it repaired or replaced..
I have already got one device replaced and will be getting another device replaced this week till i don't find a perfect device!
So please do let us know if you have faced any problem with your HTC one..so i can make a check-list for the new HTC One users..so that they can buy a defect free HTC ONE!
I had to return 1 phone because the back mic didn't work so I had no speakerphone. I have read that HTC has since changed the type of mic being used during manufacture.

The easiest way to test is to take a video in HD mode as it uses both mics to record video sound in stereo. During the recording run your fingers over the 2 mics one after another.
When playing it back you should hear the noises from your finger touching the mics.

Just for those who have no idea where the mics are..there are two small holes..
1. Right side of the USB Charging port
2. Top-Right Corner on the backside of the phone

Shouldn't there be an option to choose no issues? I slapped a Mophie case on my One and immediately rooted and flashed Android Revolution HD and have had zero issues. Coming from having every single iPhone since the very first I have to say I am really happy with this device. Freedom!!!

Well. Honestly, I don't see the gap issue since mine is black so I can't really tell. The only problem I've had is 7 dead pixels and with a 1080p screen, the only time I was seriously able to figure that out was in recovery mode at night when all the lights were out. So, I don't really see any major problems.
I have a flawless phone besides a bulging volume rocker and the biggest issue - TERRIBLE signal... No dead pixels that I've noticed, speakers sound fine, maybe a little buzzing but nothing out of the ordinary...
Coming from an S4... Which was flawless... I'm not happy about the signal issue and the usual fanfare of going through ridiculous steps to unlock the bootloader, get S-OFF, etc., but it seems like a decent device. Definitely a much better screen overall than the S4, not very laggy (I haven't gone to 4.2.2 just yet because I literally just started using it today but the S4 blew me away how quickly you could use it from power off to power on but the lag goes away after Sense loads) but I'm having radio issues all the way around (except the "death grip") - my GPS doesn't want to lock, mobile handshakes not only take forever but I can't get LTE with my case on, etc. And the speakers really aren't THAT impressive. The S4 is similarly loud although I heard HTC turned the volume down on a firmware upgrade because people were complaining they were too loud so who knows.
I just might have to start the damn warranty exchanges for the signal. *sigh* I see HTC's quality control has not improved over the years...

So how is the new mic in newer HTC One's?

I am considering this phone and I would lie if I said that this HDR mic I've seen in action in some clips, is not one of the biggest thing I admire in this thing. There was much rumours and constant mentioning about changing mic's in newer HTC One's and somehow as of today it's impossible to find any comparison or even mention about how this new MIC works compared to Nokia HDR. Anyone care to shed some light on this? It would be much appreciated.
