What are these icons and how do I change them? They are in the HTChome portion on the Today screen. I'm using the stock AT&T ROM on a TILT and have applied quite a few cabs from this forum, so I'd like to think I'm not a noob. I've also searched for a week now and either I'm just whacked (which may be the case) or I just don't know how to look. Any ideas? Can they be changed?
HTCHome plug-in...search and you will be amazed!
Yeah, that makes sense, but it doesn't look like all of the pictures I've seen. The other stock HTChome pics have the big clock and three large buttons. I'm not trying to be foolish. Is it just the AT&T home-grown HTCHome? Can I still change this with the HTC Home Customizer?
Oh, I forgot to add that I tried to change these items with the Advanced Configuration Tool, but none of the changes took effect.
Thanks to www.pocketemu.com, I got my answer when I installed the HTCHome 2.1 and the HHC 1.0. Good to go.

I have been recently messing about flashing various WM6 ROM's to see which one I might settle on, however I have come across one issue which annoys me so much that I would choose not to go down the WM6 route.
On the phone dialler I now have a bar going across the screen which displays two lines of my contacts. I don't want this. I want the usual phone layout that I have used for the past dozen ROM upgrades.
Is there a way to remove this? I have tried all the settings on the phone but to no avail. Will it dissapear if I re-skin the phone with something from Eten?
What surprises me is that I have not seen anyone else mentioning it on any of the WM6 threads - Does everyone like this new layout?
Vista Dialer
I also found this annoying. I downloaded the following
Jimm98y_vista_dialer.zip
in the development/hacking section. I think it is much better than the old WM5
dialer skin. You can see the screen shots there.
You will probably also need to edit smartskey.ini to allow the dpad to function in the Phone app. With the Underground ROM that was a pain if I remember correctly as it is a system and RO file. I ended up making a cab that created a \Program Files\Smartskeyand copied my smartskey files to that folder. Then stopping smartskey, deleting the shortcut in \Startup and then running Smartskey from the \Program Files folder.
What a PIA! Another reason I went back to the Orwell ROM (after I took the green comm manager with me..)

Thanks Tony. Just done it and it worked a beaut.
I recently installed Alex's rom, and love it. But one thing I'm trying to get that I had on my other is for HTC Plugin. I was able to press on the icon, and set it to hide the items it displayed. So, for eample, the large clock takes up a lot of screen space, I could have it hiddent, then click the icon for it to display. I can't do that with this.
I thought HTC Customizer must have given me that, so I instaleld it, and it doesn't.
CAn anyone point me to the right app to get that setting capability on HTC? There are a lot of posts out here about the HTC screens, but I haven't run across that description.
Thanks!
Bump...
Any ideas ?
I believe you're referring to UltimateLaunch or SPB PocketPlus 4.02, which allows you to install a today plug-in as a tab. Both applications have limited trials.
Alex, you are so good.
Yes, in fact I just came back here to say, I found that wsa it. I in fact have SPB Pocket Plus. But I had forgotten that was how I did it.
I'm making notes of all the changes I'm doing, so next time I do a ROM (I'm sure you'll have one I just have to try later ) that I'll be able to recrate some of my stuff.
Thanks!
Ive had this phone since february and im lost on how to change the display options on my phone. i found a great website for theme and a gr8 program for making themes also but i want to change the appearance the main display i tried installing but got lost in the middle of the process. Can anyone help me?
We can try but this is the forum for the HTC s730 "Wings" the T-Mobile Wing is a different phone and has its own forum.
What do you mean by display? You want a new theme? Different resolution? What appearance are you talking about? Button / Icon location color and such?
Need more info!

I mean as as far as different fonts and changing the way the menu and time look on my phone & im sorry I thought I clicked on the htc tmobile wing threads
Oh I dont mind if you post here, but you wont get a lot of full responses since we dont have the hardware
I am not fully sure of how your homescreen looks, if you have WM6 default home screens than you can edit the home page file and enlarge the clock, or download different home page files and run those (like you mentioned) There are also other programs that will install different clocks (dont remember any but have seen threads in here where people have used other programs).
The menu can be tweeked via the regestry, first get yourself a registry program and if its the same as our phone (should be since its window's driving this bit) find your way to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shell you can modefy some of the registry files there to change the layout of the start menu, you can also accomplish this with some third party programs I believe but I have not used them.
My Tilt died under warranty and they gave me a new one. I love to keep a picture of my boys on the screen but hate the background pictures. When I first got my tilt I somehow figured out how to include a picture plugin in the foreground on the today screen items. I could kept a picture under the date and calender items.
For the life of me I cannot remember how I did it. I thought maybe I just copied everything on the registry exactly from an old treo 750 I have which had the option programed in when I bought it. It did not work. Maybe because I could not copy the plugins (DLL files) from the windows folder. Beside the set up on the window folder seems to be different.
Does anybody know how I can include a picture in the today items? A software solution prehaps?
Thanks
Start>Settings>Today>Items>uncheck HTC Home>OK>OK
Set your photo as wallpaper.
Hope that helps.
that is not what I am looking for
Thank you,
But in the background it is hard to see the the other today items because of the difference in brightness in most pictures. I am looking for a today item which I can include a picture where the other today items are above or below the picture.
What you are looking for is TodayImage. It is a Today plugin which alllows you to display one or more images.
Here are two cabs I have but I am not sure which one is the correct one. Its trial and error. I haven't used this in a long time.
Please let me know if this is what you are looking for.
There is also TodayGif which allows you to display an animated gif as a plugin on the Today screen also.

MAC

Didn't think this was possible! Nice one, I'll give it a try.....
Todaygif frooze my tilt?
Thank you very much. for the plugins. They didn't work well but the thought is appreciated.
I tired the todayimage but it didn't do a good job of fitting the picture on the screen. Then I tried todaygif, when I tried to add a new gif file it lockup and would not boot up agian. So I had to do a hard reset.
Anyone else know of another solution or plugin?
I think I might have figured out a way
I looked at my old palm treo and it has a plugin call Picture plugin. I think if I could get that on to my tilt I make the files in the registry to call it up.
When I try to copy that file off my treo it tells me
"Executable and resource file in ROM cannot be copied"
Is there another way to get that file onto my tilt?
Hello, I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this stuff but I'm absolutely sick of the AT&T logo being the background of all my TouchFlo tabs. Problem is, I can't get any of the theming utilities to work. Diamond TF3D Config crashes on start up and Manilla Customizer 0-9 just doesnt work. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Ryan
You have to find themes compatible for your Manila version.
Since you are on stock ROM, you will have an older version.
Version found in Settings\System\Device Info\Software or there about.
I can't seem to find it but I have the feeling its 2.1, I'm also having an extremely hard time finding themes.
Actually, I'd be more than happy if there was just a way to replace the AT&T wallpaper somehow without theming. Is it a picture file hidden somewhere on the device?
Found the image file. ATT_stwater_480_800. Unfortunately, it won't let me replace it. Welp, back to square one.

If you're copying from your PC; connect as hard drive, use My Mobiler or Pocket Controller to overwrite the file.
stwater will be your start menu, tdwater is your Today wallpaper.
Also (can't remember back to 2.1 ) can you go to right soft key (Menu?) Home wallpaper or Settings tab\Personalize\Home Wallpaper?
