I picked up a used Kaiser, looking at the current conditions, this is what I find:
Dutty's 6.1 (19716)
dutty WM6.1 WWE
04/29/08
radio: 1.64.08.21
prot: 25.74.40.02W
SPL shows:
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
Serial
In the Hermes world flashing a ROM was pretty simple.. at day 1 you flash Hard-SPL (and there was only 1 version) and never looked back... looks like a few more steps here (for Hermes we didn't have to remove SIM or SD card, and a hard-reset was automatically part of the picture.. and Radios weren't really paired to ROMs, only really to your geographic location)
I've watched a few youtube videos, and read over several Wiki pages.
Given that my SPL says "Serial" I am guessing I will need the "USB force" version of whatver V3 SPL I choose? From what I see, v1 wasn't the best match for 6.1 ROMs.
I think I'd like to give the new L26 ROM a shot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416276
Chef recommends Hard-SPL 3.29 and it looke like radio version: 1.65.24.36 is cooked in? (radios were not normally cooked in for Hermes.. but also did not have much importance)
So my plan is to
1) install Hard SPL 3.29 force-usb from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922 , using instructions from same thread
2) install L26 v11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416276 , using flash instructions from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserIntroductionToROM_Flashing .. also referenced http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1846653&postcount=800
Have I gathered my info correctly?
With regard to the ROM flash Wiki, I do not see any mention of removing SIM or SD card, is that needed?
thanks,
Mike

You don't need to use ForceUSB unless you still see "Serial" after connecting your phone by USB and running JumpSPL/SSPL from the device. "Serial" is always displayed in the bootloader screen when no USB cable is connected.
Other than that, you're good to go.

It's my firs post here, so first I want to say "Hi" to all of you MDA users ;]
As stated in the topic:
I own Trinity (exactly Orange SPV m700, if this can make any difference).
It's equipped in WM6 Black v3.3 by Akeo (05/05/08) and (unfortunately...) Radio 1.16.00.00 and (i guess even more unfortunately..for me) HardSPL by Olipro v1.3
The problem is, that i can't use GPS (as for i read) with this radio...
Did some reading, and found how-to about upgrading radio...
Easy procedure, so couple minutes and done... I checked Device Info and simply looked like that -> ' wtf? because radio version didn't changed...
Did some more reading...
Found the info that some Trinity equiped in HSPL by Olipro 1.3 don't want to cooperate when it comes to updating radio...
The solution is simple - downgrade HSPL to 1.2, install radio and get back to HSPL 1.3
What I want to know is - what is the risk of playing like that with hardspl...
Can I just simply "brick" the device?
regards,
C.
Follow this and you will be ok. I have used it to switch from Olipro's to Des' hardspl.
uhm, i guess you forgot to paste the link you were suggesting to follow
anyway, i followed THIS and some other things found on xda...
Now I'm happy user of SPV m700 with radio 1.5.08.11 WM6 by Akeo and finally WORKING (hell yeah!) GPS navigation...
i'm bloddy happy with it, and hope it will work fine for ages ;]
cheers
Hi Guys,
thanks for the good job you'all are doing. Will appreciate whatever help i can get to resolve this issue with my phone. I have the HTC TYTN II which i recently upgraded to WM 6.1 using the official ROM which i donwloaded from HTC website. Since then i have noticed that sometimes it seems my phone is dialing itself or a call is coming in. The funny part is though every other function is working i wont be able to answer this phone. It will seem to hang. Then after a while i will get the cprog.exe error. To be able to make phone calls i have to soft reset the phone. i have had to hard reset my phone twice already with no solution. Also googling has not been able to provide any answer too. I just sent an email to HTC Technical support now but with experience i doubt if i will get any useful response. So this is my last resort.
It is also pertinent to note here too that intermittently i do get the tmail.exe errors.
Hi,
I am having the same problem after the upgrade..frequently its becoming stoned! requiring restart many time during the day...which was not the case before...anybody has got any solution???
I love my TyTn II but not the 6.1 ..its not stable!

Azuka, who so ever upgraded to 6.1 from HTC experienced the same problem even i myself suffered the same. So your only solution is to downgrade to 6 but before doing that you must HardSPL your phone ...
Two words... bad flash.
Regardless of what you might hear about WM 6.1 being unstable/unusable, it's simple NOT TRUE. Head over to the Kaiser Wiki, read up on flashing HardSPL (really read), and then once you have HardSPL'd your phone, flash a different ROM.
But please do not make the mistake of asking for recommendations on which ROM to use. The ROM that works best for me probably will not work best for you, in terms of programs loaded and cosmetically.

Thanks for your reply. Your two words "Bad Flash" got me thinking. How could that be. I thought so too and had to re-download the file from htc website and re-installed.
About HardSPL'd your phone, from reading the wiki i now know what it is. But there is no instruction out there to HardSPL'd. Do i need to get the file and copy unto my phone or what?
thanks.
Head over to the Wiki, and under ROM Upgrading - Tools, I added an entry to HardSPL v3.xx. All the instructions needed are in that thread.

Thanks for your help for far. This is an update of where i am today and a few questions i need your help to answer:
I took my phone into the retialer where i bought and who serve as the service center for HTC here in Doha, Qatar. They re-installed the WM 6.1 OS and so far i dont have the issues i was having before. However i do experience momentary screen freezes which eases off after a few second. Right the device information is as follows:
ROM Version: 3.28.405.0 WWE
ROM date: 05/02/08
Radio Version: 1.65.17.56
Protocol Version: 25.83.40.02H
Going into the bootloader the i see the following information:
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.0000
CPLD-8
Which i believe confirms that the HardSPL is 3.28 - please correct me if i am wrong. Now my questions are as follows:
1. How do i resolve the momentary freezing?
2. Do i still need to do a HardSPL giving that mine is showing 3.28?
3. And your answer to do above is Yes which version do i need to do? 3.28 or 3.29 or even 3.56
Thank you once again.

I have the freezing issues too. Two things has helped me reduce the frequency (and improve general responsiveness of the device):
1. I've disabled the HTC task manager application - that helps a lot on responsiveness
2. Each time I soft reset the phone, I manually kill the mstli.exe process - that helps a lot on the freezing issues.
regards,
Spip
Just to share some experiences
So I have the TyTN II and I recently upgraded to the official HTC WM6.1.
I have none of these problems of screen freezing, unstable rom, etc etc etc...
However, I do suffer from occasional program error message and asks me quite a few times to send the report to microsoft.
But this only happens when I load certain third party softwares and then close them down.
I attribute this to compatibility issues with WM6.1...maybe I'm wrong. But that's what I think anyway.

You do not have HardSPL on your phone. You have SPL 3.28, which was flashed to your phone as part of the WM 6.1 upgrade. If you want to try out custom ROMs, you will still need to flash HardSPL 3.xx.
I recommend flashing HardSPL 3.56. It was ripped from an AT&T build, but seems to work great with all flavors of WM 6.1.
As for the freezing, it cannot be eliminated 100%. But with a good cooked ROM and the right HardSPL, you will rarely experience one.
I had this issue and it was just down to previous HardSPL being left at an early version (I think around 1.02) on the device and if you apply this latest HTC stock ROM update you get a bad flash and freezing especially in the threaded SMS app.
Install any HardSPL later than 3.00 then redo the ROM update and it should cure it.
Thanks guys. I just did the HardSPL 3.56 and re-installed the HTC official 6.1 ROM. So let's see how it goes.
Btw, HardSPL-ing is not as difficult as it seems though.
Right now the following is my configuration:
KAIS130
SPL-3.56.Hard
CPLD-8
Device Information is as follows:
ROM Version: 3.28.405.0 WWE
ROM Date: 05/02/08
Radio version: 1.65.17.56

Just a quick update. After HardSPL-ing my phone it worked well for sometime then the tmail.exe error surfaced. I have only had the cprog.exe error - where a call comes in and i can not answer neither can i make another call until i soft reboot - has only happened once or twice. Apart from these the phone has been working well.
Anyway i just got a reply from my earlier mail to HTC and thought i should post if here for people's information. Apparently they are aware of these issues and working on them. Read for yourselves:
New Response From [ Maha Mamer (Qatar Support (Tech)) ]
Thank you for contacting HTC Corporation Middle East Support Dear Mr. Felix First of all we are very sorry for our late reply Please, if your problem still exist with this error message, you can try one of two options. 1- go to Start> Settings> System(tab)> error reporting> and disable the error reporting option. 2- If this did not solve your problem, then you might need to get back to WM6.0 until we finish our update for the new release of WM6.1 with the new modification for our web site. Please do not hesitate to contact us back for any inquires. Please note that you could also contact us by phone on our hot lines. http://www.htc.com/mea-en/CA_Hotline.aspx?region=MEA Sincerely, thank you for choosing HTC Corporation HTC Corporation Middle East Support Team http://www.htc.com/mea-en/default.aspx
Just an observation here:
After reading somewhere on these pages that the erratic behavior of TYTN II could be due to bluetooth adapter i decided to go some days without my Motorola S9 bluetooth ear piece i am yet to experience any of the issues i had before. Could the bluetooth software for WM 6.1 be the issue?

Did you ever resolve your momentary freezing issues? I have a new TYTN II that I upgraded to WM 6.1. I used hardspl 1.0 to do that but after reading numerous posts, I loaded HArdspl 3.28. After installing hardSPL 3.28, the 5 second freezes are less frequent but happen everyday.
I am not sure where to go from here? load another HSPL? Reload '3.28.405.0 (Radio 1.65.16.25) original HTC WWE (World Wide English) ' ROM?
As you know these pauses are very annoying.

I am looking for a solution. Not using Blue tooth to use a device that costs over 600.00 just doesn't make sense to me.
Is there a ROM hardSPL combination that will give me freeze-free performance or is this an HTC problem that is not solvable. I just can't believe that every Kaiser user that has upgraded to wm 6.1 has the same issue that I have with momentary freezes that last up to 5 seconds.
Is the solution another ROM, another Hspl, another phone? Who can help me resolve this issue? Is there a better place to post this?
Thank you
Freezes and locks.
Prior to my upgrading my AT&T Tilt to WM6.1 which I did today. I was experiancing LONG freezes, listening to music or just waiting for menus. I could not determine any specific software that was the cause. I tend to install a lot. Did a hard reset, didn't install the AT&T bloat, reinstalled my primary apps MS Voice Command 1.6 (a Must). Still same issues... Occationally could NOT answer calls. Hit the green button, or the answer option on screen. the onscreen 'answer' would flash, but I could not use the phone until a soft reset. LONG process when you are waiting for a call back.
AT&T sent me a new phone which I got and installed the NEW wm 6.1 before anything. Worked pretty well, but I had not made any calls or recieved any all day. I did listen to several hours of music on my Motorola S9 headset and made sure Audible Player would work. Two apps I use daily.
All seems well, except NOW I get the cprog.exe error. I decided to test my phone with a simple incoming call. Before I ended it, it went dead. Not sure what the HardSPL is yet. Will look into that. Just thought I'd let others know that the lag, AT&T seemed to think was a hardware issue so they replaced my Tilt.
Software installed; MS Voice Command 1.6, Live Search, Audible Player, TCPMP, FlashBundle, GPSToday. Pretty much it besides the AT&T bloat that came with the ROM. Good luck

0. Virus Warning
Your AV software may detect this file as a virus, please read here.
1. Disclaimer
THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. I SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES HOWEVER CAUSED ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
2. Warning
USPL does not make any permanent changes to your device. It operates from volatile memory (RAM) and once the device is power-cycled, no traces of USPL remain there. As long as there's a valid SPL flashed and starting up, you can run USPL to help you solve many other troubles.
Therefore USPL itself is safe and can NOT damage your device. You CAN... USPL is not foolproof; inrepairable damage can be caused through incorrect use of USPL, so be cautious.
Unless you know what you are doing, NEVER:
- flash an unsigned/cooked ROM/SPL/Radio/Splash/etc... that wasn't tested by someone else;
- issue SPL commands known to be dangerous or if their purpose is unclear or unknown;
- upgrade/downgrade SPL using USPL.
Again, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
3. What is USPL?
USPL is Unsigned... Unbricker... Universal... Ultimate... SPL, you name it!
USPL is for running different SPL versions and installing cooked/unsigned ROMs on your device without flashing patched SPL.
USPL is for unbricking your device if OS doesn't load, you don't have HardSPL installed and there's no stock ROM you can find for your device.
USPL is for debugging and testing if you are up to your own SPL patching.
4. Current version and supported devices
USPL is highly experimental. It is alpha software, and it will remain such forever. This is version 2.x of USPL for HTC Blackstone (HTC Touch HD) only. Please don't try it with any other devices! It will not cause damage, but it won't work either.
5. Why version 2.x? Where are the previous versions?
USPL version 1.0 was originally created in April, 2007 for HTC Trinity (HTC P3600), however my laptop with all source codes was stolen in May, 2007 just as I was about to make it public.I didn't have time and will back then to start the project all over. Now that I own an HTC Blackstone, it made better sense to do it again. RIP trin_uspl! Long live blac_uspl! Version 2.0 was developed in early December 2008, but it was too buggy to release at that time.
6. How does it work (under the hood)?
USPL is exploiting multiple bugs/vulnerabilities in HTC SPL codebase (known since 2007) to inject and execute unsigned code. The same concept was reused by pof to implement HTC Trinity splxploit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308691).
7. Why another SPL?
Why not?
Personally, I don't like the idea of flashing patched/hacked bootloader onto my device, so HardSPL doesn't work for me.
Having just SoftSPL is not enough, as sometimes OS doesn't boot to allow SoftSPL/JumpSPL execution.
8. What's in the package?
USPL comes as a single Windows executable - blac_uspl.exe. blac_uspl.exe is a console application developed and primarily tested on Windows XP. As of version 2.2 USPL should work in Windows Vista as long as RUU does; if you are still having problems with USPL under Windows Vista, consider downgrading HTC Sync drivers as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723. Sorry Linux lovers, no version for you You may be able to run it from Wine, but I didn't try.
By default Blackstone USPL loads SPL 1.14 (or SPL 1.15 starting from version 2.4) patched to allow flashing of unsigned/cooked .nbh files. You can specify a different SPL (for example HardSPL or MFG SPL) to be loaded instead via command line.
9. Who should (not) use it?
If you can't tell the difference between SoftSPL (SSPL) and HardSPL (HSPL), then USPL is probably not for you.
10. How to use it?
New:
cRaCKwHoRe developed a GUI for USPL for those not familiar with command line, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508361. It makes USPL a better experience, check it out!
Download the latest USPL attached to the second post of this thread and extract anywhere on your computer.
Go to ActiveSync properties and disable "Allow USB Connections" option. Turn off your device (long press "Power" key or remove/replace battery), then enter SPL bootloader mode (tri-color) by pressing and holding "Power" and "VolDown" keys simultaneously.
Connect USB cable and make sure "USB" label appeared in the white portion of the screen on your device.
Execute blac_uspl.exe; current status and any error messages USPL encounters will be displayed in the console window.
If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.14.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully.
If SPL version does not include "USPL" or if the screen is black, soft reset and try again. If "USB" label disappeared and did not reappear, reinsert USB cable.
You can then start RUU update to flash RUU_signed.nbh. Once RUU update is completed, device will restart using regular flashed SPL.
If you want to flash from SD card instead, make sure your SD card is not inserted when you enter the bootloader originally.
SPL will try to install it and would fail if blacimg.nbh is not signed by HTC. Insert the card after "USB" label comes up in SPL but before running USPL.
You can run "blac_uspl.exe ?" to get command line parameter help. Only 1 parameter is accepted and that is the name of an SPL file you want to load. You can load an MFG SPL or HSPL. USPL automatically takes care of allowing unsigned/cooked ROM flashing with any SPL you use.
11. Limitations
USPL relies heavily on multiple bugs specific to certain SPL versions, so it will only work on devices running **SUPPORTED** SPL versions.
The following Blackstone SPL versions are currently supported by the latest USPL version:
SPL 1.13
SPL 1.14
SPL 1.15 (TELSTRA)
SPL 1.19
SPL 1.54
If you run it on a device with unsupported SPL, an appropriate error message will be displayed and USPL will not run.
If you have a device with unsupported SPL version and you want to add support for it, please PM me to discuss.
blac_uspl.exe may not work in Windows Vista, unless HTC Sync drivers are downgraded. The ultimate solution to this problem is to use WinUSB instead of HTC Sync, this enhancement is not planned at this time though.

Jesse
ps. Stepw.. you have a pm...
Wow, that sounds good!! Thanx for posting this. I am still waiting to get my Blackstone and can't try it by myself atm. Anybody else has used it?
is there any conflict with OliNex HSPL ? i have installed OliNex HSPL? if i use this one, will this cause any problem? or will this brick my phone?
You don't need USPL if you have HSPL flashed. You can still use it though, HSPL is based on stock SPL 1.14, so USPL will run as well.
well, another great contribution for BLACKSTONE! thanks stepw!
Well, that's a turn up for the books
Many thanks for this!!
Awesome, I reckon that with USPL we will have no problems with warranty. If hardware problem occurs, just flash stock ROM and send in for repair - original SPL was never removed!
Truly exceptional. The best compliment stepw!
Well Done. Thanks for your hard working. This is amazing.

Awesome, I reckon that with USPL we will have no problems with warranty. If hardware problem occurs, just flash stock ROM and send in for repair - original SPL was never removed!

Yes, this is one of the advantages.
...
no problems flashing, just like described.
great, thanks a lot!
This sounds very good not touching the original SPL.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for your hard working
just downloaded it...antivirus gives me a "TR/Dropper.Gen" trojan warning. Nobody else seems to have stumbled over this, does that mean the account was lately hacked ?!? Or I am overly suspicious ?

Some antivirus products give more "false pozitives" then others.
Very good job for something new around!
Excellent job!!!

I upgrade from WM6 to WM6.5by anryl, now the camera is not working well no pictures, the sound is not coming out.
the Radio version is 1.27.12.32, I have earlier use spl v1.0 olipof when I si unlocked the phone. I have tried to flash a new radio it keep giving me error 260 USB connection problem after getting to tri-colour screen.
Please I need your help.
this issue has been discussed to death...literally! you should thoroughly read the wiki, the newbie flashing guide, as well as the thread and FAQs for anryl's ROM...
you are on the right track. your radio is definitely an old version and you are correct in trying to flash a radio that is compatible with the new wm6.5 ROM.
but if your spl is still 1.0 olipof, then you should know that this spl version is ONLY for wm6 ROMs...so try to install a compatible spl before flashing to a new radio. go to the thread where you got the ROM and see what spl the chef (anryl) recommends for this ROM. also, see if a radio is included in the ROM.
if you did the security unlocking steps AFTER you upgraded to wm6.5, then your spl and radio are most certainly changed and need to be updated
if a radio is included in the ROM, save yourself some trouble and just get a wm6.5 spl. once you've installed the spl, then just reflash your ROM (and the radio will get flashed also because it was included in the ROM).
good luck!
i have flashed the radio with ROM 1.70...xxxx and the phone seems to be working well with the anryl WM6.5 now, but please do I need to still flash the hardspl from 1.0 olipof to hardspl 3.5xxx.
I noticed the bluetooth is not connecting any device.
yes...read my post again...your current spl 1.0 olipof is for wm6.0 ONLY
hello,
i just got a kaiser and i wanted android on it. accidentaly(yes i know) i flashed it to nand. my real problem is: i have incubus26Jcs superfroyo rls15, but i have no sound.
i tried flashing the radio, but with the radio's i tried it says error 262:update error.
i tried flashing back to WM with SD, but it's stuck at the loading... screen.
i tried mtty but it doesn't make a connection.
i tried going back to wm through usb but it stops at 0% with wrong vendor id(i have a dutch kaiser from orange, which has gone bankrupt, and found no stock rom), it also stops at non-stocked roms with update error.
i have read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423486

i also can't get HardSPL onto my kaiser, as it still stops on the loading screen(with the SD card).

You must SPL, do you have? 3.29 at least
you must have a radio newer than 1.70.X (use 1.70.18.02), didn't you read the thread "how to replace windows mobile with android" ?
If you can't update radio through the SD, use KaiserCustomRUU.exe: put it on a file wherever you want and put the radio you want also on the file and name it "RUU_signed.nbh". It's all on the threads man!
here's the SPL thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498320 USE THE SEARCH MAN!
no sound is because of no radio updated...
