Hello every body,
1. i just installed the new cooked room. It has a task manager which enable to close programs and view the list of running programs (only on today screen). I have deactivated somethings in the setting of the program, now i can't view the list of running programs anymore ( i can't access the setting too), does anyone know how can i active it again?
2. I have Pocket Informant installed, but when i open calender with in TouchF3D, it opens the standard PIM. How can i change it.
Thanks for your reply and sorry about the bad English.
As for your first question, you should post it in the ROM's thread. You can use Resco Explorer to open the pogram with whichever program you want.

As always, another newb question. If there is a thread for this already, please let me know.
I need some more space for software. Mainly because I need for these to start on every boot and are today add ins. How can I remove some HTC extras I don´t need? For example:
1. The audio manager which I don´t like at all
2. The voice dial feature which I never used because I´m more into voice Command.
3. The Zip program which I replaced with Resco explorer
4. The old home pluggin which I replaced with Battery Status.
5. The Dialer skin which I replaced with the original WM6, which I consider better.
If I have to do this manually, its fine, I just need to know where to go and what to get rid of.
Thanks Guys.
Not too sure
I'm not too sure if this would work, but if you could find cab files of the programs you want to remove, and install them (stay with me) I would guess it would overwrie the files, and also allow you to remove them from the add/remove programs window under settings. I know for me, that worked when I updated Live Search from 1.0 to 2.0 and then deleted it. Give it a shot, what do you have to lose?
It could
It does sound reasonable. The question would be where to get these cab files. Anybody know where?
Though there is a strong posibility it won´t work. Some of these programs are upgrades. For example, I installed the new x button feature I found here as an upgrade. When I uninstalled the upgrade, it automatically returned to the old version. I tried it because I wanted SPB pocket plus to be my close button software. Tried it too with the Audio Manger installing the upgrade found here and the same happened.
Thanks.
1. to 4 are in ROM, you carn't just delete it.
5. Delete reg keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PhoneCanvas & set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled=0, it should then return to the default windows mobile dialer. This file has a backup of the key just in case you want to restore it.
You can remove 1 - 4 if you cook your own rom, have a search in the forums.
Simple question, I hope. How do I add to or delete apps from the list on the Items tab (Start / Settings / Today)?
I currently have a list of 9 items, 2 of which are ticked but I can't see how to add or delete from the list.
Not checked items is NOT loaded in memory!
Items can be deleted from registry - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items. Every key under key Items represents settings for one today item - delete it and it disappears from the list in the Today applet.
Thanks. Can you point me to a suitable registry editor?
I guess I'm confused. If the app you're looking for isn't listed in the Items tab for today settings, it's 99.9% likely not to be a today plug-in, so adding it to the list won't help. Even if you did, it wouldn't run properly.
What specifically are you trying to add to Today? If it's an application (like Agenda One) that doesn't have a corresponding Today plug-in (like Pocket Plus or the HTC Home do) then you'll be adding it without much point.
Total Commander CE has good integrated registry editor. Another free PHM registry editor - http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/.
But - every good today plugin has uninstaller and typically there is no need to manually delete items. Be careful and good luck ...
When I installed TomTom it created an entry in the Items list. This was simply a shortcut to itself which appeared at the bottom of my Today screen.
I assumed that you could add any old app to this list and that would make it appear on the Today screen in the same way.
From what you are saying this would appear to not be the case?

On Today screen appear only very special programs ("dlls") with two exported functions. TomTom delivered mentioned special dll.
For other program You want to run from today screen make a link in some "host" Today plugin (Try Great SPB Pocket Plus - http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en)

I too have that TomTom shortcut at the bottom right corner of my Today screen. I do see a TomTom registry folder under today items for Today, but under Settings --> Today --> Items, TomTom is unchecked.
So, the question is: how specifically do I remove that shortcut, and how do I add others/another in its place (if I decide to).
FYI, I am using Pocket Plus, Mobile Shell and Phone Suite.
Thx
Update: Sorry for my ignorance. I am still learning WM6. This icon shows that TT is still active and disappears when the program is closed. Palm never had this issue since it can't multi-task.
I was browsing a thread on Modaco (probably this one, maybe this one) and there was an application to remove entries from the today screen item list and it mentions that this could save memory or something (not really why I want to do it - it's mostly because there are piles on my machine and I will never use most of them and I can't uninstall them (some are plugins for an app I use, others I just can't uninstall)).
I don't really want to permanantly remove these items and would want to back them up, but it would be nice if there was a program which was able to relocate the registry keys somewhere else.
If not, I don't mind doing it manually. I assume that I shall need to mess with
HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Today > Items
but if someone can post the details of anything else I need to remember it would be appreciated.
I think that is the only way to do it. Maybe you could make a shortcut directly to "Today" applet so it is a quicker to access?
What you were reading may have been about UltimateLauncher.
It allows you to scroll through multiple tabs of desktops, each one customized with their own Today plugins. What it can do is "Deactivate" whatever plugin is not active. This causes a slight delay when moving between tabs as the plugin is reloaded. However I tried with and without this feature and it only seemed to save 2-3% of my RAM (w/ HTC Home, SPB Weather, MS Live, and one or two smaller ones).
The plugins are disabled on the today screen and I do not often use them. I therefore want to remove their listings as they mostly just get in the way.
The plugins installed include....
Stuff I actually use
SPB Phone Suite
SPB Weather
Pocket Plus
Battery Status
GPRS Monitor
Calendar +
Stuff I might conceivably use
Windows Live
Skype
The following just get in the way on the Pocket Plus "Add to tab" option and on the today item list. I just don't need them there but might eventually need to put them back if a related program complains they are missing.
Standard WM6 I don't use and probably won't ever use
Date
Calendar
Messaging
Tasks
Owner Info
Device Lock
Mobile shell plugins I don't use
SPB Mobile Shell
Home Tab (Mobile Shell)
Time Tab (Mobile Shell)
Weather Tab (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab 2 (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab 3 (Mobile Shell)
Other items which just came installed and I can't de-install
Shortcuts
Running Apps
Meters
Last Call
Windows Live Search
Hence the problem, and I don't think it was related to Ultimate Launcher as the program looked older than that.
So, I'm not sure where the Today applet gets its list...but it is either looking in a folder or in the registry. (I'm sure someone can chime in with the appropriate location)
So, if it is looking in a folder, simply move the items you don't want to a subfolder so it doesn't populate them in the list.
If they are in a reg entry, export the reg entry and then delete the keys. That way you can import the reg entry if you need them again.
As far as I know i have not seen any program that will remove them from showing up as choices.
Also, as far as uninstalling programs that you don't want. Sometimes, though not always you can find a cab of the application you want to remove. Then, install the cab on top of the existing one, so it shows up in add/remove programs and then remove it, thus removing the application. This trick worked on removing some apps from my PPC6700 before I knew how to unlock the ROM.
Alternatively you can open up the cab and find what files and reg entries are used and manually delete them.
I'd recommend using dot fred task manager or CeRegistryEditor to backup \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items and go ahead and delete whatever you don't like.
If you want to go the extra step, you can also delete the .DLL file as specified in each key. -- Don't delete the DLLs used for the Mobile Shell today plug-ins, as they may be shared with other SPB applications.
FWIW, this isn't temporarily disabling your today plug-ins. It's as close as you can get to deleting them, without deleting the whole application.
Hope this helps.
You might want to give this a try too... (Just found it while answering another thread)

Hello all,
based on a hint (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2307700&postcount=119)
i get Today Plugins AND TF3D at work.
1. Uncheck TouchFlo 3D as Today Plugin
2. Install the application that you want tt use as today plugin
3. If you start manual manila.exe (hidden system file) in windows directory TF3D start.
so i try to create a shortcut to "\windows\manila.exe" and copy the shortcut to the
startup folder. But TF3D was never start, i think for some timing reasons. So i try the
autostart with Mortscript (http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view&menu=29) and a short script that wait 15 sec. and then start TF3D. Copy this simple script to startup folder.
Everything is working fine for me, so i have both Today Plugin and TF3D.
4. Sorry for my poor english. Enjoy

Sounds very interesting. Do you have a screenshot of they look together?
The TF3D application works as before, but if you start TF3D (Manila.exe) later and NOT as todayplugin you can use your own plugins If you want configure your plugins you must go to settings-today-elements and if you came back TF3D is closed. To start TF3D again you have to start the script again.
\\yoshi
Thanks! I had have the same idea Good idea with the script - but it don't works at me. What I'm doing wrong? I had copy the script into the autostart folder. Any more to do?
And a question: if manila is on screen - how can I switch to my homescreen?
just install Mortscript and copy "manila.mscr" to the startup folder. Thats all
of course TF3D is NOT active as plugin.
To configure your plugins you must go to settings-today-elements and if you came back TF3D is closed. To start TF3D again you have to start the script again.

How can I come back?
try "ok" in the upper right corner
thank you. But I have spb PocketPlus - there is no ok-Buttom. If I choose "all finish" - nothing happens. If I push the "Back"-Hardwarebuttom - nothing happens. If I choose "Today" in the Windows menu - nothing happens.
Have you got any other idea?
If you go to settings-today. Then you must select the page where the plugins are listed (in german "Elemente") . Now just klick ok (maybe X) in the upper right corner. If you have closed all open windows you will see the today screen.
Second Today Screen
Alternative Duo Today Screen . . . Why not try Chi Tai's 2ndToday.

i have tried secondtoday. it crashes often. maybe is the latest build more stable
thank you Yoshi Joghurt, it runs. Is it possible to write a script to close manila? I'm an absolutly newby in scripts, may be for you is it easy to make such a small batchfile.
Then I can make a link on my screen to stop it easy.
I think this was is much more better than second day, because
- it is more stable
- and manila runs in the background
- the startscreen is in the foreground
- then f.e. the weather is refresh automatically

What am I doing wrong ?
I installed the mortscript cab file
Created a HideSim.mscr with the following text and put it in the Opstarten folder (dutch for Startup)
#Write registry settings
RegWriteDWord ("HKCU","ControlPanel\Phone","ShowSim", 0)
After a softreset it won't be executed. When I doubleclick the HideSim.mscr in my file explorer and look in the registry, the value has changed so the script actually works. I also created a StartUp folder in my \Windows directory and moved the HideSim.mscr to that folder. That didn't work either
here is the simple script to kill manila.exe

@MRE-net:
It is a little bit OT
Maybe there is also a timing problem. Please try "Sleep 15000" at the beginning of the script.
\\Yoshi
thanks! I've tried "stop", "close", "end" - "Kill" is wonderful
I changed "Sleep 15000" to "Sleep 1000" and it runs perfect.

Yeah sorry about the Off topic thing, but I wanted to test the application first in order to use plugins together with the TF3D.
I'll try your suggestion....
Thanx
Yoshi: is there any command in MortonScript to minimize the programm, not to kill it? May be, manila react to it. If yes it would be great

All you need is HERE
...however:
Code:
9.7 Application windows
9.7.1 Window titles – how MortScript finds a window
In many commands and functions of this section, a window title must be passed.
MortScript then looks for a window which contains the given text as title. This is done case
sensitive, i.e. “Word” will not find “WORD”. If there are mulitple windows, MortScript tries a
“best fit”, regarding the following (top = most important):
● Is the window a main window? (it has no parent, or the parent is the desktop)
● Is the given text found at the beginning of the title?
● Is the window visible? (that's not the same as “in the background”, it's more like “not shown
in task list”)
9.7.2 Show and activate a window (Show)
Show( window title )
Activates the window with the given title.
9.7.3 Minimize/hide a window (Minimize)
Minimize( window title )
Minimizes (or, on Windows Mobil systems, rather hides) the window with the given title.
9.7.4 Close a window / end application (Close)
Close( window title )
Closes the window with the given title. If it's the main window of the application, the application
usually is closed (exited), too. However, some rare programs ignore it.
...and there are others 9 into the list, regarding WinMobile windows.

second today works fine but setting from the plug-ins are ignored by ft3d. when for example I install phonealarm the sound settings are changed to phonealarm, but when an event ocurs there is no sound to be heard.
Does your method work with these kind of plug-ins?
Hello everyone. Originally, I posted this in the WRONG place (habitually I follow the Rom Development thread. Here's my question:
I'm looking for a CAB if one exists; that allows me to get right back to an open program without having to hit the start menu button and find it in the list of programs again. For example: I have Google Maps open to an address. I go to the programs page by clicking my stylus on the Windows icon, open my navigational program. NOW... I wish to get right back to the Google Maps, but have to go BACK to the programs folder to click it's icon AGAIN as if opening it for the very first time.
In an older ROM (I think the original 6.1), I could click the start menu and the list would drop down with recently used programs on the top left. Even that ability would be better.
Anyone know of a CAB for this feature?
Thanks.
TRhis is what I use. WKTask
