OPERA - Restoring as The Default Browser - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello, I did a search for this but couldn't find how to sort it...
I installed that new Opera Beta. Didn't like it. So uninstalled it.
I noticed that the new version did have a tick box to set it as DEFAULT browser.
However, now I have uninstalled it I have an issue...
When using RSS hub and clicking READ MORE, it will open IE instead of OPERA?
How can I change this back?
Any help appreciated.
FH

Did you tick the "default browser" box? Did you un-tick it upon uninstall?
Try installing Opera again, un-ticking that box and uninstalling.

Hmmm... Tried to re-install, uncheck and uninstall... It's still opening IE when you click on any link in an email or RSS hub?
Do I need to hard reset and start all over again?
FH

There is a cab which reinstates opera as a default browser

http://www.goojet.com/p/http/forum....tachment.php?attachmentid=100444&d=1216496480

Thank you... You've just saved me about 2 hours! I was 5 minutes away from clean install of EVERYTHING!
Thanks
FH

I am looking for this cab to reinstate Opera as the default browser, could anyone help me out?
Thank you!
EDIT: found it back, and tested OK. Attached below (without "goojet")

Problems with changing Live search to google search

Hi there! As mentioned in the Wiki, I changed the SearchURL of Livesearch to:
http://www.google.com/m/search?output=xhtml&source=mobileproducts&mrestrict=xhtml&q= (and tried others as well)
This works then the default browser is Internet Explorer. When my default browser is Opera, it doesn't work and it only opens the Google searchpage without searchresults.
I notice that Internet Explorer opens before the GPRS connection bubble comes up, and Opera opens AFTER that. Could this have anything to do with it? Do you know of a way to resolve this problem?
Thanks!

DM

Uninstalling Opera 9.5 beta

How do you uninstall Opera 9.5? It doesn't appear on remove programs. Also it is now my default browser and there's no way to turn that off.
I'll see what I can find. In the meantime, should you ever want to install Opera 9.5 Beta in the future (after you flash a ROM for example), you should use Chanifire .cab here. As this allows you to uninstall it via "remove programs"
File Chanifire.cab not found, I have the same problem. There is someone that have unistall Opera Mobile 9.5 beta?
there was 2 versions
one where you cannot uninstall
one where you can
-both in the same opera 9.5 thread in develpment and hacking
but all u have to do is delete the opera files in windows folder(2) and go to appdata and delete that. There may be a few reg entries changed but nothing to worry about :]
I removed it by searching for opera after synchronization with the computer in the PDA windows - 4 files were found - these were deleted
How do you get into Setup on Opera9
Does anyone know how to get into the setup for Opera 9 - I somehow did it one time and now cannot figure out how.
I so far like this browser - way better than the mini! What is needed is for someone to tweak the chooser script and substitute mini for this one and that way we can choose between ie and O9 when a link is clicked.
There a a ton of files & registry entries you must delete manually.
I kinda like opera, (it's really 9.33 btw) but I hate how it hijacks html, htm, xml, etc...
What I did was use my latest sprite back up & did a partial restore. What you do is launch sprite, select restore, select the most recent backup file, uncheck everything *except the one check box for system settings located in the system data tab. Then restore only that infomation.
This will reset your recent registry & file association setting only. It will leave your programs & other data intact.
Then if you want to uninstall you only have to delete the 2 opera file in \Windows & the \Application Data\Opera9 files.
If you just delete these files you will have problems with file associations & that is a bit more difficult to fix unless you know the correct Executable & image files to point to.

This would only require a modification of the Mortscript file used for Opera mini.

Okay, & now go open an xml or html file
I know that the mortscript needs to be changed.
My main question is how do you get into the setup for Opera 9 - does anyone know the way?
What do you mean by "setup"???
Are you talking about the direction as to where files & registry changes are made? Then Try Below:
If you're talking about regular Settings then you touch the lower right part of the screen, Press the arrow that pops up then scroll to settings.
ALSO: you can open up any of the .ini files located in \Application Data\Opera9\xxxx (xxx= any of the folders beyond) using notepad or with Resco's internal viewer. They can also be modified using your desktop notepad.
I figured it out, thanks - the problem is that on my Tilt, in Portrait mode the icon for setup is missing due to the large size of the icons on the bottom.
I was in landscape mode when I got it to work .
For now, I am using netfront 3.5 - not as nice looking but works better overall.
I am on the waiting list to try skyfire.
I feel like I should just go on vacation for a couple months (or sleep) and when I wakeup all these problems (drivers etc, better iphone like interface) will be solved!!
Does anyone know where we can make a formal complaint to opera about its hijacking our file associations? I refuse to use this software anymore until I know this will not happen. It has made for a long night of reg edits that didn't really get me anywhere. After manually configuring pie to be my default browser I still couldn't open .htm files by clickin' on the in my file browser, had to backup to yesterdays settings and I change many things on a daily basis, Well restoring settings is finished I have allot of work to redo...

It's a leaked version. They even warned you.
This is not 9.5 beta please change the title.
Has anyone figured out how to restore file associations after installing this FUC... ****?
Thanks
How can be removed this version. I manage now to use version 8.65 but how can I regain those 8mb without hardreset?
BTW, I found that not too many people know or remember this, but you can type "Opera:Config" into the address bar to get into the advanced setup features for Opera.
How to Uninstall and remove opera

Hi,
Where can I find uninstallable version?
BR
Asaf
So just deleting the files will do it? If I don't fix the registry will it ruin it? Which cabs are uninstallable?

[APP] Google Applications on the Fuze

So I've tried a ton of different ways to get Google Mail (Gmail) and Google Maps to work on this phone. It seems like all the links to download the actual app are dead (I get 404's). Also the Ajax Gmail app (gmail.com) doesn't ever load. On my BJII (running Opera) it loaded fine just like on my Windows desktop PC. And I was able to download a nice mobile Google Maps application, which I can't find for this phone either.
What am I doing wrong? Can someone please point me to the best solution for these two apps?
Thanks so much XDA geniuses! (I'm new to HTC)
I had a problem downloading google maps so I ended up searching for the .cab file and found it somewhere in XDA-Dev
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...google+maps+cab&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
When I tried downloading Google Maps in Opera it downloaded some Java version of it. Try using Internet Explorer to download google maps. www.google.com/gmm
the WM cab is here: http://www.google.com/gmm/GoogleMaps.CAB
from: http://www.google.com/mobile/default/maps.html

I'll be damned. I get a 404 not found when I hit the link to the cab file directly from Opera, and if I hit it in firefox on my desktop PC, it downloads. WTF?

Sounds like the AT&T proxy again. Type "opera:config" into your Opera address bar and go to the "Proxy" section. Uncheck "Use HTTP" and "USE HTTPS". Google sites (and a whole bunch of others) will work properly. You may have to re-enable the proxy for some internal AT&T sites.
Why can't AT&T use a proxy that doesn't make complete hash of the HTML it's proxying for?

Hi guys,
I'm having the same problem, and I tried this solution and it didn't fix my issue.
What I see is that when I go to Gmail.com and log in, I see the progress bar that shows the account is loading, but then the screen will go blank and the page will stop loading. It works over WiFi, but not over MEdiaNet. I'm using Opera 9.5 build 15613
Thanks!

Opera as default browser for Gmail Java app

hello, i have a small problem, after trying various registry changes etc for changing the default browser to Opera 9.5 (i have the first firmware release of x1 at moment, will change it to r3 when i have some time) i succeded to change the default browser when i click links around using XperiaTweak2...
I use my x1 a LOT with the gmail java application, is way more confortable that any other way for using my gmail account and i use it as only email, well, the problem is that even if the default browser is set to opera and works if i click links around it does not work when i click a link in the Java app for Gmail... i have tryed to use gmail from opera but with this java app is way faster and more confortable...
any idea on how i can manage to force this damn thing to open the links i click in the Gmail Java app with Opera and not with IE?
I attach here the java installer since for the x1 installing from website don't work for some reasons...
I am glad that someone thought to post this. I have been fighting this issue with my java gmail app on windows mobile for nearly a year. I had to go back to version 1.5.0.1193 instead of using the updated 2.0.6 version because in the newer version when I click on a link it locks up my entire phone and I have to do a soft reset to get the phone back to normal. In version 1.5.0.1193 I get this message immediately after I click on a link "http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http%3A%2F%www.ebay.com" with a question asking me if I want to open this URL with a yes or no option. In this case I was just clicking on a link to take me to ebay's main website page. If I click "Yes" then IE Mobile opens (BLAH!) and it inserts "http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http%3A%2F%www.ebay.com" in the address bar in IE Mobile and all I get is the general "The page cannot be found" error message. There are no options under "Settings" to change the default browser or how it inserts the links in the address bar. So, I have been puzzled about this for a really long time and I thought I was the only one that was bothered by this. If there are any good programmers out there that understand Java please help us with this.
just install R3A, i found out that it makes Opera the default browser for everything
EDIT: You may also find the new beta Opera Browser 9.7 useful as it has a "Set Opera as default browser" option

Internet browser won't launch

I have the tilt with AT&T. I just installed M2D. Everything works except the internet browser. When I scroll over to internet and try to launch the browser nothing happens. The internet will work if I launch the browser either through the start menu or the soft keys. Any ideas ? ( sky fire is my default browser )
Is Opera installed? Because I've only ever been able to use Opera from M2D.

No I don't have Opera installed. I only have internet explorer and skyfire
Stylez, thanks for the feedback. I went to the internet tab and it shows " all bookmarks " in the lower left corner and " browser " in the lower right corner, but when I try to click on either one it doesn't do anything. I'm guessing that the " browser " is supposed to bring up a menu to choose the exe that you want to use ? I tried to uninstall M2D and reinstall it and still same issue
Thanks Stylez. My bad. I didn't have M2DC installed. You was on the money . I found the setting and got the internet tab working. Big Props.!! thanks again
Otherwise try copying skyfire.exe to windows folder and rename it to operal.exe.
