I set password PIN in Setting->Personal->Lock, once the phone is lock I can't change the volume of incoming call (pressing the volume button up/down has no effect), it only work if I unlock the device first. Anyone has the same problem and found a solution?
no one has the same problem?
Same problem if you lock the device via the system lock.
To make volume keys working again, you can disable the HTC volume services to get the original WM volume controls (not so nice but efficient).
To achieve this, you can overwrite \Windows\HTCVolumeControl.dll by an empty file (using a full featured file browser, e.g. Resco File Explorer, as explained somewhere in this forum) and restart your device. Since the original file is in ROM, "overwriting" it does not erase it but it only mask it in the file system. To restore it, simply delete the empty file.
Hope this helps ;-)
Sorry: this only works when the screen is locked by the system lock NOT when the password (PIN) is needed to unlock the device. Sorry again.
solution found
using registry editor and go to HLCU\Software\HTC\Bootlauncher\Services\HTCVOLUME
rename \Windows\HTCVolumeControl.dll to \Windows\HTCVolumeControl.dll.bak
Soft reset the device and now you have normal Windows volume control which also work to adjust the in-call volume when the screen is password lock.

Is it possible to remap my voice-dial button to use as a device lock button?
Or any other way (without using extra programs) to achieve this?
yes it is, check out the thread named "Yet another device lock application" or search for amstrong, he made such an app. It calls the device lock today-plug-in, but you can disable the plug-in from the today screen and the app will continue to work. I use AEBPlus to bind it to my comm manager button, double clicking the button will lock the device. Binding it to your voice dial button is also possible with AEBPlus. I'll attach both files here.
Great stuff Koksie.
Thanks a lot!
One thing I discovered, instead of AEBplus you can also use the "buttons" option in the settings to map Device Lock to a hardware button.
Yes, you can of course do it that way, but then you loose the original functionality of that button. With AEBPlus I just bind the devicelock to a double click on my Comm manager button. One click still brings up the original Comm Manager. In this way I can bind apps to buttons and still leave the original button set-up as it came out of the box.
That's true, but I never use VoiceDialing so it's no problem for me
What is different with Device Lock on Today? And how to turn off backlight except Power button? It's mean like Nokia. When you in key lock mode, you can't turn on backlight excep press unlock keypad.
the basic function is the same as the today plug-in. By using this app, you don't have to use the touch screen to lock your device and you can remove the plug-in from your today screen, thereby freeing up space on the screen.
I don't really understand your other question. If you mean that you want the backlight off untill you unlock the device, that is not possible with this app, since to unlock you need the touchscreen and therefore the backlight comes on.

whoops...
Is there a way to use it to unlock as well? I'd like to use the button to lock and unlock without touching the device
Hey guys,
Was wondering if theres a button you can push to activate the password lock instead of having to wait for the timer to go. Thanks!

hold end call for a few seconds(red phone button)
ekw,
as I mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1780468 holding the end call button just locks the keys, but/and
- "any child who can read" is able to unlock it (unlock & *)
- this way of locking doesn't ask/require a password/PIN to unlock the device
I'm using the standard HTC Rom.. maybe your's is different?
Mine: HTC TyTN II (Dutch)
R: 1.27.12.11
G: 22.45.88.07H
D: 1.56.00.00
Use htc endkey then . Holding red phone button locks mine!!(maybe i changed it a long time ago and forgot )
ekw,
does 'HTC endkey' invokes the 'enter PIN code' screen to appear or just tap 'unlock' and then 'tap here to unlock' on the screen or use '*'?
i can confirm the using "HTC Endkey" to lock the device DOES NOT invoke the pin entry screen when you have the pin/password entry enabled. The only sure fire way around this is to set the pin entry/password "prompt if device is unused for" to 0 minutes; this way whenever the display is automatically OR manually turned off (through power button or device lock (assigned to a key etc)) when the phone is woken it will always ask for the pin to be entered.

I'm "happy" that you can confirm our 'problem'
Fact is.. I've put the screen to turn off after 2 minutes of non-activity, but when I'm for instance at home, the device shouldn't lock itself with a password when the screen is turned off.
So I'm trying to find a way to be able to enable/disable the device lock by for exemple tapping an icon on the today screen or hitting an assigned key.
Briefly said.. see attached screencapture..
instead of opening that screen (settings, lock, <entering the password>) and enable/disable the option.. I want that (!) enabling/disabling to be done by hitting an assigned key which edits a registry settings..
I do think that the option which you'll see in the screencapture is being remembered in the registry.
I'm willing to find the registry key and programming a 'tool' myself which will edit the registry key.. but I must do some searching (programming for xda).
I overwrote the HTCvolumecontroll.dll in windows folder so that I could use the windows volume control for in call volume (i've disabled the htc phone skin so the htc volume control did not work)
Now the font on my full qwerty keyboard has changed, is there a way to stop this? Thanks
How did you overwrite
Sorry, can't help you there.
But how did you manage to overwrite HTCvolumecontroll.dll ,and with what?
I would also like to have the incall volume control back
Never mind, found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431588
Hi All,
I know there are few experts who can help me with following three questions.
1) When my phone goes into standby, it comes back to normal when I take stylus out from its place. Is there any other way we can bring screen back to normal? (pressing power button doesnt bring it online)
2) navigation control doesnt work at all. I have tried using it clockwise and anticlockwise while scrolling songs and contacts but it doesnt work. Is there any settings for that?
3) How can I change text message tone? I want to use my own made .wma/.mp3 file
Thanks,
AMJAD

I was wondering if it is possible to use the volume keys to wake the screen just like in Cyanogenmod. I have tried button remapper and manually editing the files in vivo-keypad.kl but it still does not work. Any ideas?
No Lock from the market will do this, but also disabled lock screen so not sure if its exactly what you need.
