Does anyone know what magnet positioning the HTC Car Cradle uses to activate the Navipanel?
I have a Brodit incar cradle but I have spoken to HTC about getting the Navipanel to launch automaticaly and they say that it can't be done as the HTC cradle has magnets in it which cause the Phone to launch Navipanel when it is proximity with the magnetic field and also running on mains power
I believe the activation of Navipanel has nothing to do with magnetism. It is the connection with the mains that triggers the app.
Why do I think so? Because I ordered the 'Motorola mini usb to micro usb adapter'. When I connected this adapter to the 12 V car charger of my old HD, the navi-app on my HD2 came on, the screen tilted 90 degrees and the speakerphone switched on. So I got rid of that Motorola adapter in the car .
Other adapters don't have this behavior.
So believe the feature has to do with the wiring in the connector.

Same to me, but why did you get rid of the adapter??
You can easily turn off the landscape feature from your HD2!!!
I have car usb charger with output 5V/1A. I used it with my HTC Desire, but it is safe to use it with Samsung? Because galaxyS default charger output is only 5V/0.7A
If it didn't cause you trouble with the Desire than - yes it's safe.
I've got a question for everyone who has the CU-S400 carkit or the CC-C200 car charger...
Does the CC-C200 charger (which is also supplied within the CU-S400) activate NaviPanel?
Or will this only happen with the car holder?
I just like to know, because why should I buy another CU-S400 for in my second car, when I could use my universal holder + the CC-C200 (it saves me some $$ for my speeding tickets )
I hope someone can help me out

The actutal car kit activates the Navi Panel, not the charger. If you look closely at regular micro usb charger tips, on the inside, its like 4 little slots, but on the charger itself, the micro usb that actually connects to the HD2 has 5, which tells the HD2 that it has been docked, therfore launching the NaviPanel.
PS... the long usb cord that comes in the navigation kit is a standard usb cord, nothing special about it at all. The magic is all in the dock's USB.
Hope that helps.

Something you might want to consider:
Create a shortcut in Windows\Start Menu\ Programs (so when you tap start it appears in the list) pointing to "NaviPanel" (not NaviPanel.exe") locatend under Windows folder and that way you can launch it when you like... Using an icon changing software you can change the icon of your shortcut...
The USB port of my car lacks power, I'm assuming, to actually charge my phone (Nexus 6P) while using it for Android Auto. Is there a way to actually get it charging and use Android Auto, via some sort of splitter or any other way?
If you Google "usb power enhancer" you can find cables that use the power from one USB source, and data from another. This means you can get the power from a better car charger. I have used this setup and it works ok.
Found this out with my HTC One M9 - Go into the android auto app on your phone and go to settings. Make sure that your screen isn't set to be 'always on' I changed mine to phone default, and it's fine. Once you plug it in, the phone screen stays on all the time unless you do that.
if using 'el cheapo' cable which i always use, i found our, this always because of the connection between the cable and the usb port. try use new cable first

Hi there!
My life does not match any pattern, that's probably why the new Smart Charge feature does not really work. I manually stop charging around 80% whenever possible. However, I frequently travel by car using Android Auto which requires me to connect the phone to the car using USB. It will ALWAYS charge to 100% when connected. Are there any options to disable charging at all? Are there USB cables which do not charge but rather provide a data only connection? Do you have any other suggestions?
You can't do it.
Usb data transfer needs +5v.
You can make a usb cable charge only, but not a usb cable data transfer only.
