P30 Pro: Disable charging when using Android Auto - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi there!
My life does not match any pattern, that's probably why the new Smart Charge feature does not really work. I manually stop charging around 80% whenever possible. However, I frequently travel by car using Android Auto which requires me to connect the phone to the car using USB. It will ALWAYS charge to 100% when connected. Are there any options to disable charging at all? Are there USB cables which do not charge but rather provide a data only connection? Do you have any other suggestions?

You can't do it.
Usb data transfer needs +5v.
You can make a usb cable charge only, but not a usb cable data transfer only.

[Q] Fast charging dock that will simultaneously sync??

I have a g2, but looking for a universal dock with separate connections for micro-usb and AC to allow for simultaneous fast charging and sync connection to a PC. Does such a thing exist?
Don't think so, since those 4 USB pins are all connected to the charger (2 for power +/-, and 2 to let the phone know about it's higher charging capacity), leaving no room for a standard usb connection any more.

Phone loses charge while connected to USB and using Android Auto

The USB port of my car lacks power, I'm assuming, to actually charge my phone (Nexus 6P) while using it for Android Auto. Is there a way to actually get it charging and use Android Auto, via some sort of splitter or any other way?
If you Google "usb power enhancer" you can find cables that use the power from one USB source, and data from another. This means you can get the power from a better car charger. I have used this setup and it works ok.
Found this out with my HTC One M9 - Go into the android auto app on your phone and go to settings. Make sure that your screen isn't set to be 'always on' I changed mine to phone default, and it's fine. Once you plug it in, the phone screen stays on all the time unless you do that.
if using 'el cheapo' cable which i always use, i found our, this always because of the connection between the cable and the usb port. try use new cable first

How do I stop Quick Charging

Whenever I connect my Phone to my Laptop(Matebook X Pro), it quick charges my phone. (connection via usb c to usb c)
Is there a way I can stop that from happening and my phone leeching the battery from laptop so fast? OR stop charging it all together
Because usually I only connect my phone to laptop for roms and rooting and today for Android Q. I would charge my phone before doing these things hence I don't need my phone to suck out from laptop during this. I wonder if there is a way to reduce how much power the laptop is outputting. or turn it off all together
Besides, I have a powerbank for both my laptop and phone so if I am out and about, I'd charge the phone from the battery, it's less efficient to send it from battery to laptop to phone.
You'll probably need a custom kernel with special settings for that, as they usually try to speedup the charging instead, but I recall some bugged kernel/ROM versions (for another device that was; the Nexus 6P) which prevented fast-charging when not using an official QC adapter (like connecting it to the charge USB-port of your laptop; and that kinda sounds like what you're after). Many modern laptops have special charger-ports, sometimes even with QC support, so did you try another USB-port to see if perhaps charges slower ?

You see, when I'm out and about I only carry usb c to USB c cable so I can't check other ports. Both of the USB C ports are USB PD :/

Use a cheap legacy micro usb cable plus type c adapter. Since its hard to find bad quality usb c cable. It wont pass high current to your phone. Bad quality cable usually have very thin wire..

Can I use wireless charger and USB tethering at the same time?

I have a Beklin Wireless Charging Pad 10W and it works fine with my XZ2. However sometime I need to share my mobile network to the laptop, and every time when I plug the USB cable it will automatically change to get charge by USB.
Of cause I can keep the wireless charging by using the hotspot feature, but I find that hotspot + wireless charging + once opening some other apps it will make the phone overheat and I often get the overheat message. Therefore I am curious, is it possible to keep charging by Wireless Pad and share the mobile network with USB cable?
Thank you!

USB cable question

Does anyone know of a USB cable that it capable of supporting AA and has USB-C on one end (for device) and double 3.1 on the other end (to vehicle)?
I have 2 USB ports in my vehicle. The input port for AA does not charge the phone sufficiently when is running and the other port does fast charging but doesn't allow AA to run.
Thanks very much!
Welcome to the never ending problem! No, it is not possible to do what you want to do, that is, to be connected to AA and to fast charge your phone from an other usb port or car charger. I tried everything, including powered usb hubs, nothing works, unfortunately.

Do you have wireless charging on the phone? Might be able to add a wireless pad in the car.

Thought about that but I'm worried about overheating. I guess I might need to try it and find out?
Do not be worried of overheating, if the phone is connected to a usb cable and port and it detects charging, it will automatically disable the wireless charging.
The only way is to replace, if possible, car's charging circuit with a fast charging one.
