Does anyone know any good programs to free up memory space and clear unwanted files besides clear temp and memmaid?

Is it possible to use my Microsd card storage space as system ram? I'm running alot of programs and it always tells me I'm low on memory and that i need to close some programs.

Well, the long and short of it is no.
I can go into all the technicalities, but I won't (mostly because there are others that can give you better specifics).
Ram

you wouldn't want something like this to be possible. It would be real slow and your SDMemory-device would become worn out real soon. When it comes to write-cycles, SD-Memory has a very limited livetime compared to DRAM.

That is it!
Hi all, I understand the main storage is 50MB and depending on the ROM this gets eaten up fast. Right now mine is at 1MB free. I text a lot and I figured it is the text message DB that is eating up the space.
Is there a way to move that DB to the internal storage instead?
Edit: This app helped find space consumers at ppcgeeks: MobileMonger

If you are desperate to keep your old messages, use one of the backup programs located on this forum and delete your old ones from the device.
Besides that, I suggest cleaning up the storage space by deleting unnecessary pictures, such as the ones that come on the phone or moving your media to the internal storage.
I keep getting the "Storage Memory" message on my screen and don't know where/how to free it up. Can anyone tell how to do this?
Thanks.
TW,
No one has any idea how to fix this?
if you have a full storage card start removing some stuff that you have through activesync or removing programs that you have.
So, is this application space on the phone itself? are there temporary files that could be dumped, etc.?
Thanks,

I have no idea what you are talking about dude, what I meant is that you can manually remove files that maybe are on your sd card through activesync (exploring files in your card) and have some space available but if you want to clean temporary files. You can use Cleartemp
I hope that helps,
I have a 4 gig SD card in the phone, its not even close to full.
If you look at the picture I posted its referencing 128 meg so its storage somewhere else, where is it and why is it getting full?
Thanks,

Hi Tiger Woods...busy with you phone and not with golf (we hope to see you back soon)
The message you are getting is related to your main storage (phone) and it's has nothing to do with your sdcard.
I assume you have a 6.5 rom from what I see in your pictures. This cooked roms (not light versions) will get more storage since chefs include apps in their images and adding to that; if you install additional programs in your main storage (not on sd card) you'll get the message.
Use the app that I just sent you (if not already in your rom) and start to free some memory and also I will recommend you to start removing programs from main storage and installing them in your sdcard so you can free some memory from your phone.
I hope that helps,
Hi guys,
You may know App2SD that is used for moving apps from phone memory to the SD card, in order to free up space on the phone. My question is, do we get any benefit from this app? Because the Nexus 7 has only internal memory.
Thanks,

You basically answered your own question, Nexus 7 only has internal memory. That app is useless for Nexus 7, because it doesn't have an sd card
Sometimes apps get installed to a different bit of the internal memory, as if it's installing to a virtual sd card partition, but it's really just another section of your internal memory (/data) partition.
In short, you can shuffle the apps around all you like, but they'll still be on /data.
To actually free up some space on /data, you could move some apps to the /system partition, or move some updated system apps back to the system partition with an app like 'System Cleanup'
Sure, thank you mate.
Could you guide me in details how to "move some updated system apps back to the system partition with an app like 'System Cleanup' " as you said above?

(Assume you're rooted)
- Install and open SystemCleanup
- By default, you should see updated system apps at the top of the list, should have some red text
- Click on each icon on the left hand side until it has a tick
- Long press (Update system apps)
- Press back, will ask you to reboot...then reboot
This moves the app from /data/app to and overwrites the old redundant copy on /system/app
You can also try to select some apps on /data and do the same thing as above, long press and select 'Move app to /system/app', reboot. This may not work for all apps though. For instance, I install a 3rd party launcher and move it to /system/app, and delete the stock launcher using 'SystemCleanup' as well.
Can save a little space this way, make sure you have enough space on /system in the first place, will say how much free space at the top.
very good guide. Thank you so much.
Cheers
Hi @eddiehk6
I have another question. Does it matter if I move apps to /system partition and this partition becomes almost full? Does it affect to overall perfomance?

Don't know to be honest. Depends what you fill the space with. System apps are given higher memory priority I believe, not absolutely certain but you'd have to read
I don't think SystemCleanup will allow you to fill it up the /system partition to the maximum as it were, so there's no danger of it not booting. I just use it to optimise space a little. It's much more useful on my Desire with very limited space compared to the Nexus 7

The N7 is very effective at managing it's internal memory, if anything using apps that supposedly optimize or move data around are detrimental to the overall lifespan of your N7's internal memory.
If the wear leveling mechanic of the N7's memory controller is doing it's job properly all the controller really is doing is lying to the app that wants to move crap around willy nilly and just keeping it in the same place anyway.
Aside from deleting crap you dont need there is zero benefit and most likely nothing but bad results if you think you can do a better job managing the memory better than a memory controller and android OS that can run through millions+ of calculations in the time it takes you to blink.
It's fine where it is.
With around 22gb of memory tied up in system/miscellaneous files (which I assume I have no control over without a root, i can only delete a few mb of the miscellaneous files ), is 10gb the typical amount of free memory available on this phone? Hopefully this is a memory leak thing, but I haven't seen any positive results since the new firmware upgrade.

10gb seems to low for free space
That's abnormal unless you've got loads of games or media.. Check to verify that you have no archived backup from recovery. Those take up gb's worth of space.
So I've scoured the settings and backup definitely isn't enabled

Backups made in recovery will NOT show up in folders.. Try wiping backup archives in recovery.
Go to my files, device storage, click more and click show hidden files. Check to see which folders are using a huge amount of storage
The easiest way to see what's taking so much memory is with the free program DiskUsage. You can download it from the Google Play store - it's small and very easy to use. Just start it and it'll show you what's what

Ballin, yea so a while back I attempted to run a GameCube emulator and downloaded like 3 games for it..thought I cleared everything but I guess quite a few gigs were still hidden in unknown territories...
Miscellaneous files down to 711mb, thanks guy(s)
