Does anyone know where the sounds are for the slide out keyboard, when you slide it out there is sound EX. Piano, Wind Chimes etc. Where is the sounds located in the phone, Windows? Because it would nice to change it to what you want, or have your own sound and convert it to the sounds that would work when you slide out your keyboard. Anyone know where it is?

Got this from another thread a while back - was going to just link to it, but couldn't find it so I attached the file here.
I actually turned mine off in the end though.
thanks so much, i probably will turn mine off too, but if you can get like an mp3 song that you like and just get a clip or something or like record your own voice that would make it lot better, and where is it in the phone though? someone needs to tell me how to create cabs.
I haven't tried the cab changing the sliding sound is a bit of a process.I only just figured this out and i had some inspiration from a post on Modaco.
The opening and closing sounds are wav files stored in the \windows directory on the phone. There are three files total and the naming convention of the existing files are: 1.wav; 1_in.wav, 1_out.wav. 1_in is the sound of the slider closing while 1_out is the slider opening. I'm not sure if you have to keep this convention or not and you'll understand why in a second.
Using a registry editor navigate to: HKLM>software>HTC>SlidingSound. Here you'll find the keys for the existing slider sounds (0-2 on an ATT Tilt rom). Inside each key are three values: default, in and out. If you check the properties of each value you'll find the name of the sound and the filename for the in and out sounds.
All you have to do at this point is to copy the entries into a new key with values to match your filenames. I kept the numerical sequence (0,1,2, 3).
The more I think about it I don't think you need the 1.wav file at all just the in and out wav files but that's the info I got from the Modaco form topic about changing the slider tone for the VOX. I'll have to try and see what happens. Hope this helps.
Oh yea it does, even though i might not be able to do its great to understand or know something about it, thank you so much
OK, ive created the wav files ( default, in, out) created the new key and new string value but i dont know how to create the value data which is where i think after i get i can create a cab, but i dont know where the numbers and letters lead.
just download the attached, and the sounds will show up in the drop down. just like that.
Interesting...volume control is done through the main settings volume menu?
Hmm, I've installed that .cab posted above, but I can't find it anywhere...
I've don this a couple of times but never used a cab to get it done. using a registry edit (phm, etc...) is much easier. put the .wav file in the phone windows folder on your phone and then use the editor to write the paths. do a serch for a link to detailed steps.
thanks
thanks for the sound cab for the sliding open and closed it worked really well, just a shame the lightsabre opening clip isnt long enough, seems to stutter then nothing,as for closing it sounds perfect
First of all I love my new TyTN II and XDA-Developers!
Question: Anybody know of a hack or a .cab that will make my touch pad numbers vibrate when I dial a number? This way I know when I've pressed a touch button on the display - had it on my MDA Compact II and loved it!
PS: I've attached the two .cab files I use to have, but they don't work on the Kaiser...

it's a bit of a work, but the result is great!
Description Add a small vibration for every key pressed when dialing the phone. Improves tactical feedback.
Type Registry Tweak
Instructions Using a registry editor navigate to the following keys and follow the directions. Do this for each of the listed registy keys
1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter "Sound" to "Sound1"
2. Create new String Parameter "Sound"
3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf*
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf0
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf5
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf6
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf7
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf8
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf9
Notes A softboot is required
to change back to the default function, go back through the list of registry keys, delete the "sound" entry, and rename "sound1" back to "sound"
note: the * needs to be entered in the value for "*vibrate*"
This tweak really makes it easier to know that you have pressed a button when dialing on the touch screen
have fun!
here's the cab.
very good
there is a delay until the vibration begins,
if you are used to tapping the numbers quickly..
otherwise GREAT find
thank you
regards
krassen
To be clear...
There is a delay when you push the first number. After that the vibe is almost instantaneous.
At least on my Tilt.

same with me...not even worth installing... i dont dial that slow..
Amazing Tool!
The initial delay doesn't bother me...
Simple to install & simple to use!
Big Thanks!
I installed the program and it works great when you are making the call initially...but call is connected and I tried to key in (like entering numbers on an automatic response system), it doesn't vibrate.
Normal?

works fine for me. this is the .cab file. drag it into your phone, and run it from the phone and it should install.
do not unzip the cab prior to install. just dl it, drag to phone, open from phone, and it should install fine.

From a previous thread on this, I thought that the cab version had the delay but the direct reg edit method was virtually instantaneous, but I haven't verifed this.
I installed it, was working about half the time (key presses) , then I deinstalled it. Now the standard "Options" for key tones (short tone, long tone) do not work and the keypad is not very accurate. Is there a way to correct for this?

thanks rico, decided not to install it after they fixes the "bugs" with delay...
the delay doesn't bother me too much, seems to be an issue with the first number pressed. I backed up after dialing a number and it had the "delay" when I started the new number. cool little cab. thanks

Sorry but dont quite understd the registry method.
You mean :
1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter "Sound" to "Sound1"
2. Create new String Parameter "Sound"
3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.

In case anyone wanted to replace their Kaiser/Tilt sliding sounds with Transformers transformation sounds, I've included the wave files in a ZIP. I don't know how to package them up for mass consumption, so you'll need to do some RegEditing:
Extract the two .wav files from trans_slide.zip and place them in \Windows
Open your favorite mobile registry editor and drill down to HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound
Create a new key with the next available number. I believe the default is 3 (0, 1 and 2). So add a key called 3
For the "(Default)" value enter in "Transformers"
Under the new key add a REG_SZ called "in" (without quotes).
For the value of "in", enter in transform-dn.wav
Create another REG_SZ called "out"
For the value of "out", enter in transform-up.wav
Exit the registry editor
Go to the Sliding Sounds configuration and now you should see Transformers listed as an available sound.
Alternately, you can go to the SlidingSound (the parent of 0, 1, 2, and 3) key and change the REG_DWORD value of ActiveSlidingSound to 3.
You can use the instructions to make your own sounds, but it appears that they must be .wav files. I tried .mp3s and it did not work)
The sounds are ok (a bit loud actually). I found them on the net. If you find better ones, I encourage you to use them. Or you can use Audacity to modify the sound to your liking, which I may do when I get too annoyed by the volume.

Very Cool
This is a very cool change with great instructions. Thanks for the post.
will this work on TTyn hermes ??
Alternative sound files
I guess I wasn't the only one who had this idea...
Here's the Transformers sound files I've been using on my Tilt for a while.
I spent a bit of work on these files so they sound nice and clean, they're a little bit shorter, and both files are from the same original sample, so they match perfectly. I think it works quite nicely.
Note that I named these 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav so they match the original naming scheme. Just follow the above instructions, but change the values of the reg keys or rename the files accordingly.
Sweet. Ill try this out
Here's a cab file to do the install automagically for you. I used the sounds from Diznario.
NOTE: This will replace the entries for RegEntry 3 if you already have a 4th sliding sound setup. This also makes RegEntry 3 the Active one. So just install the cab, and then slide open, slide closed, and enjoy...
Thanks BigBHaller for the precise steps (made creating this CAB easy), and thanks Diznario for the sound files.

If I go into Start/Settings/Personal/Sounds&Notifications and look in the event list, I cannot find anything that has to do with sliding sounds or keyboard in/out. I have a 8525 i just got last week and updated to WM6. Is this option not available on the 8525. I have searched everywhere trying to find out how to enable this feature but I am unable to find anything.
Thanks for any help

My bluetooth volume is really low on the headset, anyone else have this problem? Im using the Jawbone bluetooth headset on Dutty's v3 rom on my att tilt. Ive tried different roms, adjusting the volume to highest on the phone and the headset but callers are still hard to hear. Ive used the same bluetooth headset on my previous 8525 with no problems. My headset was even too loud when on high with the 8525. Any advice would be great because i do all my talking via bluetooth with my phone.
Yes, everyone has this problem - although I heard something about AT&T's latest ROM having some fix for the BT, but wasn't sure exactly what it fixed...
FIX?
Well if the problem was fixed either buy a chief here or htc or whomever, there should be a cab file floating around with the fix. thats what im hoping for or maybe a registry edit to help fix the problem. Ive read many threads on how the bluetooth volume suck for cars as well. Maybe if theres a fix for that, the same fix should fix my problem and many other's.

Yeah as a matter of fact you can take this into your own hands. The latest AT&T ROM has a file called "AudioPara4-CWS_V6.csv" which I cooked into my new ROM (releasing tomorrow morning) as well. The thing is you don't need to "COOK" it at all. And it is simply a comma delimited spreadsheet. I have attached it so you can download it. Simply edit it as necessary for your headset, drop it in \Windows and add the following registry key to your device:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"AcousticFile"="\Windows\AudioPara4-CWS_V6.csv"
Drop and Go?
So i just drop the unzip file u provided into my documents and edit the registry myself as u described? Sounds easy enough if thats all it takes. Whats the name of the rom u are releasing? Ill have to give it a try.
?
DARN! When i downloaded the file on my tilt and tried to open it i get the usual zip error of cant find the archive file crap. Guess ill have to wait to get home from work to try it on my computer.

If you're using File Explorer select "Show All Files"...sorry I zipped it directly from my ROM and it has the hidden and system attributes set. Even on a Windows machine you will need to enable hidden files AND Protected OS files to be able to see it. And put it in \Windows.
Nope
Even after i check show all files on file explorer, then click on the zip file, get the same zip error when i try to open it.

Exactly, glad im not the only one that cant unzip this file. sounds like we just need to place a couple files in my documents then edit the reg. This might sound dumb but can u just upload the files a la carte that need to go to the my documents folder instead of making it a zip file? A cab that installs by putting these files and edits the reg would be too good to be true. Anyone up for the challenge?

If you using Vista go to tools in any folder. Click on folder options.

EDIT: Am I getting closer?
Whats this cab do?
Thanks for the cab file but whats it supposed to do? I installed the cab to the device then soft reset the phone. I then talked via bluetooth headset for 20 minutes after reset and the low volume was still there. Almost seemed the cab did nothing more then take up 16kb of memory on the phone. Didn't address the low volume problem in the bluetooth headset. It must be something with the phone because i know this headset gets very loud becuase ive used it on several devices and all being consistant except the tilt. Any other suggetions to fix this problem anyone?
you can try this:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Tell me what yours say for the "SpkVolume" setting ??
also...
I got this tip from somewhere before ... see if this help you ... it's for the BT handset mic volume ... but within those keys ... there should be one for the speaker volume as well ( you have to search for YOUR device ... as everyone's is different ):
quote:
""
Navigate to
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device
Under this you would find several keys. Each key represents a device you are paired with. In my case I have only 2 keys since my PDA is paired only with 2 devices (my notebook, and my handsfree) Then navigate to the handsfree key, so mine reads like this.
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device\000c55401c45\Services\0000111e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb
You would find a dword called name, verify that the value corresponds Hands Free
Change the channel to 5 (my default was 2) 5 seems to work better with Motorolla H500.""
goodluck
Bump for some more info.
If you search the forum you will find a few posts on this subject. I have been searching through them just about every day and I have had no luck in finding an answer. Seems editing the registry doesnt help and the BT fix cab was released by HTC to fix bluetooth headsets dropping calls. I have tried the fix and I have tried using Jetware, I have not tried the registry fixes because many others have tried and said it doesnt work. Ive been through 4 headsets and non have good volume. I am still waiting on someone to find a working solution or a reasonably priced headset (below $100 thats non-stereo) that works. I think you may be stuck for a while like so many others....
Man, that sucks. I never get dropped calls on from using bluetooth, only when the phone drops the calls from ****ty att service. Guess thats why the cab didnt help out with increased volume. i did tons of searching beforestarting this thread and like u found nothing so i decided to post and see what happens. Quentin stated above he fixed the problem in his latest rom released today, 1/14/08, so i guess ima have to try his rom out to see if it helps. i really dont want to leave dutty's 1.1 rom cus of opera 8.65 and his great features cooked in. i love how dutty has the battery status under htc home with the exact percentage of battery life. anyone have a cab for that feature dutty cooks into his roms? thanks!

Hi,
I have a Treo 750v (Vodafone version) which like what it's box said it is meant for email solution, that's why the left soft menu of the Today screen menu is set to Email.
Anyone know how to change this?
Thanks, appriciate your share of knowledge!
I forgot the details but this i know as much
You have to download the register editor program. Search around the registry is all the same when it comes to changing soft key for all WM phones.
The only problem with the Treo 750 is when you change the softkey from email to something else it ends up adding an extra short cut. So in essence you are not overwriting that key, all you are doing is adding an extra feature on top of the existing email button.
Maybe someone had better success than I did can chime in
Using a registry editor, navigate to Hkey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112

It's all because Palm plugins - they overlay it. If you disable Active Call (or Dial Lookup?) you can have native-windows softkeys. It was all described in instructions how to ged back default dialpad.
