Does anyone know where the sounds are for the slide out keyboard, when you slide it out there is sound EX. Piano, Wind Chimes etc. Where is the sounds located in the phone, Windows? Because it would nice to change it to what you want, or have your own sound and convert it to the sounds that would work when you slide out your keyboard. Anyone know where it is?

Got this from another thread a while back - was going to just link to it, but couldn't find it so I attached the file here.
I actually turned mine off in the end though.
thanks so much, i probably will turn mine off too, but if you can get like an mp3 song that you like and just get a clip or something or like record your own voice that would make it lot better, and where is it in the phone though? someone needs to tell me how to create cabs.
I haven't tried the cab changing the sliding sound is a bit of a process.I only just figured this out and i had some inspiration from a post on Modaco.
The opening and closing sounds are wav files stored in the \windows directory on the phone. There are three files total and the naming convention of the existing files are: 1.wav; 1_in.wav, 1_out.wav. 1_in is the sound of the slider closing while 1_out is the slider opening. I'm not sure if you have to keep this convention or not and you'll understand why in a second.
Using a registry editor navigate to: HKLM>software>HTC>SlidingSound. Here you'll find the keys for the existing slider sounds (0-2 on an ATT Tilt rom). Inside each key are three values: default, in and out. If you check the properties of each value you'll find the name of the sound and the filename for the in and out sounds.
All you have to do at this point is to copy the entries into a new key with values to match your filenames. I kept the numerical sequence (0,1,2, 3).
The more I think about it I don't think you need the 1.wav file at all just the in and out wav files but that's the info I got from the Modaco form topic about changing the slider tone for the VOX. I'll have to try and see what happens. Hope this helps.
Oh yea it does, even though i might not be able to do its great to understand or know something about it, thank you so much
OK, ive created the wav files ( default, in, out) created the new key and new string value but i dont know how to create the value data which is where i think after i get i can create a cab, but i dont know where the numbers and letters lead.
just download the attached, and the sounds will show up in the drop down. just like that.
Interesting...volume control is done through the main settings volume menu?
Hmm, I've installed that .cab posted above, but I can't find it anywhere...
I've don this a couple of times but never used a cab to get it done. using a registry edit (phm, etc...) is much easier. put the .wav file in the phone windows folder on your phone and then use the editor to write the paths. do a serch for a link to detailed steps.
thanks
thanks for the sound cab for the sliding open and closed it worked really well, just a shame the lightsabre opening clip isnt long enough, seems to stutter then nothing,as for closing it sounds perfect

I'm new at this, but I was wondering....on the AT&T TILT, is there a way to make your own sliding keyboard Sounds (besides the three on there already), and if so...where do I put the files (directory-wise?)

And I believe they have to be .wav files
They need to be named a certain way, and there are also registry keys that have to be added for new each Open and Close sound.
I found the instructions on a Mogul group at PDAPhone home.
They are step by step.
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...-your-slide-open-close-sounds.html#post652344
If you look through that linked thread there are even some sound files available.
There's actually more to it than just placing them in the Windows dir. You'll need to edit the registry as well.
Here's a thread related to this.
Have fun!
*edit* Looks like I got beat to the punch. The link above mine is a great place to learn more about it too.
what if I want to have no noise when I open and close the keyboard. How do I accomplish that?

Figured i'd add something to this thread....
If you are using "Total Commander" to edit the registry, make sure that when you are adding the "Default" value under the SlidingSound / 3 / directory that you check the box that says "Default", instead of typing it in.
If you just type in Default, it won't work. I just got done struggling with that part for about 10 minutes and finally realized I had to check that stupid box that says "default" instead of typing it.
Have fun

I need someone to export HKLM/security/phone/skin from their phone. I'm trying to determine what keys were lost on phone when I was trying out some skins. If you could export (or copy/paste) the reg key and the sub-keys that would be awesome. Please post the attachement or the code to this thread...
thanks
enabled 1(0x000001)
ext \windows\phcanhtc.dll
Does that help? Or do you need sub directories also?

I really need the subkeys. What I'm trying to figure out is why my call history and speed dial buttons are using the default icons instead the ones actually in the \windows directory. I've verified that skin's icons are n the windows directory but when I view the phone app, the buttons are back to default (for call history and speed dial only).
If you could export or copy/paste the 'portrait' subkey that would be very helpful.
Here you go. Need more? Let me know.

Have you done any phone dialer skinning on this phone? or is it the original phone skin?
I've got a bunch of text color reg entries so maybe that's the cause...
I did install the black HTC dialer but removed it long ago. I didn't think about that when I exported it... sorry!

no worries....
I made a backup of that key, tehn removed everything that wasn't on yours... rebooting, I'll let you know what I find.
Damn, still got the default buttons.
Griz, can you check your speed dial and call history buttons. Anyway you can snap a screenshot to show what your buttons look like?
BTW.. thanks for all your help on this. If we find a fix I know many threads that will benefit from this....
I don't know if you will be able to see this, I dont have a screen capture app on my phone so I used a camera...? If it's bad, I will load a screen capture app and retake a picture for you. Or maybe you need to see more of the screen?
actually I need the speed list screen and the call history screen. Here's a good & free screen capture util....
Install this from your pc, then assign the magicSS application to a button, go to the screen you want to capture, press the button, save the file. When you are done, reassign the button to the previous setting.
Application credits go to Lou ........ http://www.louterrailloune.com/?page_id=7
OK, how is this?
the 3rd one is what I was looking for...
hate to tell you this, you have the same issue. look at the image used in the call history button in the image above. Now, view the actual files that are used for those images in the /windows directory. The files are:
spd_lst.gif
clg_in.gif
clg_out.gif
clg_missed.gif
The above files should look different then the above image. Do they?
This is what I see in /windows/clg_in.gif
-- scratch that...
that should be the image you see when viewing call history inbound calls, as you can plainly see from your screen shots, what's in the windows folder is not what is being displayed in the phone app.
And here's the kicker, at one point it did match. The image you show above (clg_in.gif) is what my original call history buttons display like. Even on some of the skins I tried, the speed dial and call history buttons skinned properly. I just notice that it won't do it anymore.
Either a registry entry has changed (or been lost) or there's some sort of OS icon cache issue.
The only reason I don't think it's registry related is that those files are usually treated differently when skinning the phone dialer. Most skins will create a folder with the replacement images, then the install will change the registry to display the images in this new folder. These 4 files never get put into the new folder, they always get dropped directly into the windows folder, overlaying the ROM file. Also, I've never seen any registry entry for these images. I would think that the registry entries (if they existed) would be under the reg key mentioned at the start of the thread.

In case anyone wanted to replace their Kaiser/Tilt sliding sounds with Transformers transformation sounds, I've included the wave files in a ZIP. I don't know how to package them up for mass consumption, so you'll need to do some RegEditing:
Extract the two .wav files from trans_slide.zip and place them in \Windows
Open your favorite mobile registry editor and drill down to HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound
Create a new key with the next available number. I believe the default is 3 (0, 1 and 2). So add a key called 3
For the "(Default)" value enter in "Transformers"
Under the new key add a REG_SZ called "in" (without quotes).
For the value of "in", enter in transform-dn.wav
Create another REG_SZ called "out"
For the value of "out", enter in transform-up.wav
Exit the registry editor
Go to the Sliding Sounds configuration and now you should see Transformers listed as an available sound.
Alternately, you can go to the SlidingSound (the parent of 0, 1, 2, and 3) key and change the REG_DWORD value of ActiveSlidingSound to 3.
You can use the instructions to make your own sounds, but it appears that they must be .wav files. I tried .mp3s and it did not work)
The sounds are ok (a bit loud actually). I found them on the net. If you find better ones, I encourage you to use them. Or you can use Audacity to modify the sound to your liking, which I may do when I get too annoyed by the volume.

Very Cool
This is a very cool change with great instructions. Thanks for the post.
will this work on TTyn hermes ??
Alternative sound files
I guess I wasn't the only one who had this idea...
Here's the Transformers sound files I've been using on my Tilt for a while.
I spent a bit of work on these files so they sound nice and clean, they're a little bit shorter, and both files are from the same original sample, so they match perfectly. I think it works quite nicely.
Note that I named these 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav so they match the original naming scheme. Just follow the above instructions, but change the values of the reg keys or rename the files accordingly.
Sweet. Ill try this out
Here's a cab file to do the install automagically for you. I used the sounds from Diznario.
NOTE: This will replace the entries for RegEntry 3 if you already have a 4th sliding sound setup. This also makes RegEntry 3 the Active one. So just install the cab, and then slide open, slide closed, and enjoy...
Thanks BigBHaller for the precise steps (made creating this CAB easy), and thanks Diznario for the sound files.

If I go into Start/Settings/Personal/Sounds&Notifications and look in the event list, I cannot find anything that has to do with sliding sounds or keyboard in/out. I have a 8525 i just got last week and updated to WM6. Is this option not available on the 8525. I have searched everywhere trying to find out how to enable this feature but I am unable to find anything.
Thanks for any help

...there is really no advice how to get back keypad tones after uninstal this software?pleaaaaaaaase..........
yea i have the same problem, i uninstalled the keypad vibrate cab and now the keypad tones do not work, im really annoyed, anyone have a fix for this??
Look at the original thread...

[in "HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/"]
...
Delete the string value named "Sound" in the dtmf(1-9) folders.
Make a new dword named "Sound" and set its value to the number of the folder. eg. in dtmf5 you should have a dword called "Sound" with the value 5.
I like tactile feedback when implemented properly, but that app is a piece of crap. Havnt seen an app that breaks the phone that badly for a while (I actually need to use dtmf tones so this was really a big problem).

hello there,im one of those who is struggling.could you help with the cab file you mentioned.
Hey
i have made a little cab file with sliding sounds for the keyboard.
it is my first attemp to create such a file, and it is my first attemp to give back to the community.
the additional sounds are souds i have found in the forums of XDA.
so credit goes out to the people who have created and shared them.
so far i have renamed the original sliding sounds to "HTC name" and the name stands for the original name of the sound.
i only added a few soundsheme`s as it is a tryout for me.
if i get good responce i will try to add more sounds to the cab.
the sounds i have added in version 0.01 are:
9"Vista"
8"Starcraft"
7"Licht Saber"
6"Resident3vil"
5"Orgasm"
Keyboard SlidingSound 0.01.cab
the sounds i have added in version 0.02 are:
19"Mo Simpson"
18"Mission Impossible 2"
17"Mission Impossible 1"
16"Homer Simpson"
15"Flanders"
14"Danger"
13"Daffy Duck"
12"Bugz Bunny"
11"Bart Simpson"
10"Apu"
9"Vista"
8"Starcraft"
7"Licht Saber"
6"Resident3vil"
5"Orgasm"
Keyboard SlidingSound 0.02.cab
install at youre own risk.
install to device.
after install, soft reset device.
For those people who want just the original files.
4"HTC Mechanical"
3"HTC Synthetic"
2"HTC Piano"
1"HTC Xylophone"
0"HTC Wind Chimes"
grab this cab --> original SlidingSounds.cab
p.s., i have very little time on my hands.
and if it does not work, just forget this thread.
here is super mario, simpsons, and transformers
thx`s, i will ad them to my next cab.
is the first version working for ya?
Works great...thanks!
ok, created a new Cab
Keyboard SlidingSound 0.02.cab
but most off the sounds sheme`s don`t work on my device.
i dont know why.
so if any one could take a look at it.
i also made an cab with just the original sound sheme`s
original SlidingSounds.cab (not tested yet)
it is realy buggin me why the other sound sheme`s don`t work.
so before i move on i have to figure this problem out.
EDIT: Version 2 is now working.
limited the sound sheme`s to 19 pieces.
had to shorten the sound files but it sounds ok to me.

1. danger (14) you have an out wav but no in wav in settings
2. the wav files can only be 1 second long....meaning the wav file needs to be about 5 to at most 10 kbs in size. i see larger files than this.
ah, ok.
i will try to shorten them.
And these install to the correct location on the device when you run the cab? (after you select the location to install the cab, of course)
yep.
the soundfiles are going in the windows dir and some reg entries are added.
Works great!
THANKS A TON!!!
ok i just installed this app, after restarting my phone and slide my keyboard on my touch pro, the slider does make a sound, were do i go to change the sound, because its not any of the cool sounds that were advertised with the first link
Thanks Chris
