Manilla - unsure, most roms seem to be manilla

Hey everyone,
Im using an old DUtty's rom (he hasnt made any in a while). I am wanting to flash with something new, but just about every one of the roms these days seem to be Manilla.
My question is, what is it like? at first glance i dont really like the idea of it.

EDIT: and are you able to turn it off so it goes back to the htc home or whatnot?

i really like it, im using garmins with the opal dialer, easily customized with all the skins out there, (see development and hacking), much more useful to me than htc home, which i guess got old, just like the cube. my two cents,

What about how it lists emails/sms's? does it just use that silly preview where u have ot go through each one? or can you open it to list the emails?

What ROM should I use?

I've just SIM and CID unlocked my HTC Herald P4350 and now I've got the WM6 from the HardSPL method.
I've already seen other OS's like TouchIT and I liked it very much but since there a lot of them I'd like to know which one I should use or how do I choose the best ROM to flash my PDA.

Do you want to use Manila2D? with Opera full? => OpenTouch 7.7 Biggy
Clean ROM? => Just2Clean
very clean ROM, but with some individual Programs like Opera Mini => JustME
Do you want an Opal Clone? => Try Gullums one
Do you want a clean ROM where you can install Manila on top => Open Touch 7.7 lite
you see, there are a lot of things to think about!

So, I'm 21 years old and what I'm looking in a PDA is that it works like a media center, a workstation and a GPS.
I may need to use to load some PowerPoint presentations. But more importantly I want all of this but with the most atractive look and lots of gadgets and informations on the "today" screen. i also want to play some games, see movies, listen to music, etc.

you could also look at the OPT that ttran made with the omnia theme... no power point but you can download mobile office anyhoo.

Well if you want to have something to play around with, you should perhaps use OpenTouch 7.7 biggy!

What about the TouchIT last version for the P4350? Can't find it either :x.
I'm still a bit confused by the amount of ROM's that exist and a question is still on my mind, does the ROM's for the Wing work on my normal HTC P4350? Because I've read somewhere that the Wing was the name given to the T-Mobile version and that it uses different ROM's.
Can anyone help me with this?

been reading the forums for a while now, but still a little confused on where to start.
I like to keep my phone setup simple.
but would like it to be thumb friendly aswell as faster.
I use wm6.1 installed from the HTC website.
I was wondering whether to just install applications such as the new touchFlo 2 and the keyboard speed fix or to go for a full rom release. or maybe just wait for a windows 6.5 release?
im wondering what you guys would recommend.

I recommend you stick with a 6.1 rom.

Since WM 6.5 will not be offered for the Kaiser, your only option there is to try a custom 6.5 rom. In many cases since custom roms are beta , that does not always simplify things.
I use M2D with WK Task and HTC Action Screen assigned to my soft keys. This makes for a very quick and finger friendly set up.

CHome in 6.5 is great and very finger friendly. I thought I'd go back and try SPB Mobile and I'm glad I did, I actually like it more than CHome. Give TPC's rom a try, it's worth the plunge, especially if you spend a lot of time with/on your Kaiser.

HTC Touch Pro questons

I bought HTC Touch Pro couple of days ago. Its used but i will do hard reset or update it to lates official update so it will be clean. But then i will need good programs and tips to got good phone for me. Some program which shutdown programs when i dont need them would be good. Some msn messenger too. But the biggest thing what i would like is games. I have heard many times there are lot of games for winmobile but i havent see them so give link to some good site where i can get them. This is not first WinMobile. I have many tytns and P4350 jne.

Well first off u should get a cooked rom if u want good programs and good speed i am using chrome rom mas but EnergyRom is also the most known rom for the fuze, u can find them in the rom development section, and for good applications and programs i recommend freewarepocketpc.net,make sure the programs are compatible with vga display resolution.

thanks for that link. Hmm maybe i should install some custom rom. **** about warranty. I dont need it or if i need it i put old rom back to phone. I will check those roms some day when i have time.

[Q] Touch Diamond Roms

Hi,getting my htc touch diamond this week (its in the mail) & was wondering as some of you folks out there have had yours a few years now can you give me a list of names for roms you think are worth trying ie Energy rom ,then i can go find them & collect them all to try out,i seen the energy one on utube love the icons & smoothnes of it but would like you guys ideas knowing more than me... thyanks in advance Ali... lincolnshire uk

There is so much variety out there. It really depends what you want to get from your device. Just have a look through the ROM section and pick out one with what you need.

It's the fastest and most stable ROM I've tried yet.

Cheers for that yeh i been looking it seems there loads to pick from,ime just getting my head round how to flash one,i have flashed it but not the mtty way so just reading how to do it that way.. dont seem as easy maby ime missing some thing..
