When making a call the home screen often switches to the date and time settings. The cause: my ear touches the clock area on the home screen and thus activates the switch. Does anyone know how to disable this?
Yeah I face the same problem. I think this problem is in all touch phones... specially in the htc elf. Is there any solution to this?
No doubt more than one way to skin a cat. But one simple way that works is to turn the phone power switch off during your call. You wont get cut off. Press the center round button to bring the screen back on when you need it.
Thanks, I know. Also, if you still have the screen set to automatically switch off during a call, it won't happen. But I tweaked that for obvious reasons and now am stuck with this side-effect. I'm looking for a tweak that forfeits the need to push extra buttons.
Thats why the screen should goes off during calls....
I dont get it why some ppl insist to tweak the phone to make the screen on while calling.
Its just silly.

Is there a way to lock onscreen phone buttons?
Everytime someone calls, and diamond is in my pocket I either accept or reject call when trying to get it out of pocket.
So can I dectivate touch screen during incoming call?
Is there any tweak for this?
Greets guys
dont own a diamond but a quickfix...get bigger jeans.
No way... too big balls will bounce
resolved!!!
the fastest way to solve your problem is to install s2u2 (slide to unlock) newest version is 1.05 what i know...
so with the right settings when incoming call, you'll need to slide then answer/reject call or setup slide to answer or other.
its great i LOVE IT..
I just installed it... then uninstalled it 5 mins later because it looks GHASTLY!!
To lock the touch screen buttons you simply hold down the End Call button for a few seconds. Or is it the physical buttons that you're trying to lock?
You didn't get it
I want touch screen buttons to be locked DURING incoming call to be sure i wont press them when trying to put it out of pocket.
Even if diamond is locked, when phonecall screen appears, those buttons are ACTIVE and that is baaaaad
and S2U2.... doesn't work!!!
When incoming call, original diamond call screen appears and buttons are ACTIVE - su2u DOES NOT lock device during the call although there's option called 'slide to answer'

You are right: I do not get you.
At least I do not see your point. You want to have the phone locked during incoming calls? - how senseless is that. Especially in that moment I want to have it unlocked to be able to accept it. That is the way all my phones worked.
What do you do, if you get a call and have a your cell in the pocket? I never encountered such problems...
Jeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz !!!
In Diamond one can answer a call in two ways:
1. press onscreen button
2. press hardware button
Onscreen button can be pressed accidentaly while taking out of pocket, pouch or whatever.
So: All i want is to have onscreen buttons INACTIVE while hardware buttons ACTIVE so I can answer call ONLY by pressing answer HARDWARE button.
Tapping onscreen button will do NO ACTION.
Hope now everything is clear, cause my english isn't very good
^^and you made a joke when i offered my quick fix =P
I have the same problem that by the time I get the case out of the case i find that I accidently answered or hung up because I accidentaly touched the screen,I tried slide to answer but it is not working properly on the Diamond
This would be helpful, I have the same problem sometimes.
I'll look for a registry setting.
s2u2 not working?????
if its bad, ugly, or something, put an self image as backgruond, maybee that would cheer u up, im using version 1.00 that dosent got the slide to answer working good(beta), so i turned it of, then it worked great and i can still use hardware buttuns to answer, and if u dont like the apperence just remove background an d remove clock, all thats left is a black screen and the slider...
This thing with enabled screen answer/ignore buttons pisses me off too... May be we can install a new dialler without screen buttons?
Really no one cares?

i don't think it's about anyone caring. i think it's about the diamond being a new device and no one having the tricks/tips/tweaks yet. patience
I understand that. But if nobody care about an issue no one will look for the solution. I would install another dialer but i do not know how to uninstall the existing one.

Be great if you (or anyone else?) could find a hack for this - I have the same problem when taking the phone out of the case. It would solve my (our) problem if only the hardware buttons could answer/reject an incoming call.
Regards,
Gary.
Since nobody answered this thread anymore... Did someone find out? Or did you give up?
I need this badly, stupid on screen buttons always go off
I had the same problem but after i did this I had no problem anymore.
The answer button in default phone skin(WM6) is much smaller so the risk of accidentally reject or answer the call is not so high.
I know that many of you have disabled the "Fast Sleep" mode while making a phone call. Well what I'm wanting to do is just the opposite, disable (or lock) the touch screen entirely while making a call. The problem I'm having is that when talking on the phone I always end up touching the screen with my cheek and either accidentally end the call, call someone else, or whatever. I would like to have a utility which would lock the touchscreen maybe 5-10 seconds after a call is established. One of the hard keys or an i-pod type slider function would unlock the screen.
Does anyone know of a utility like this?
I do have the "fast sleep" mode enabled within Kaiser Tweeks. However, while the fast sleep mode turns off the screen to save battery power, it still wakes back up with just a touch.
I have an AT&T Tilt.
I've seen some discussion of S2U2 on this forum, but it appears that S2U2 is a whole new today screen. I would like to keep my today screen unchanged. I only want the screen to lock during a call.

It is a lock not a today replacement. That is what I use.
Thanks parleyp, I guess I'll give s2u2 a try. The info that I've seen just seems rather complicated when all I need is a simple lock utility. Why is there discussions on s2u2 affecting the weather tab, clock display, background, etc?
Which version are you using on your tilt?
Would you be interested in something like that??
If so search for opal dialer in kaiser Rom development subforum.
I am fairly certain that you can just press the "power" button and shut the screen off. When you are ready to hang up, just hit the end button. This is not automatic, but it works for me.
yea, i was gonna say: what's wrong with just pressing the power button?
This one aspect of my phone has been really bugging me. We don't have the option to disable the automatic locking of our phones. You could enable an infinite screen timeout, but that doesn't really solve the problem as it introduces a new problem (increased drain on the battery due to the display being on the whole time).
It'd be nice if we could control those two settings independently. One is to be able to control screen timeout, the other would be to enable/disable autolocking our phones.
The reason this is useful for someone like me is that I usually leave my phone on the desk when I'm not using it. In my situation the auto-locking is just a huge pain because I'm not worried about accidentally hitting any buttons while the phone is on the desk nor am I worried about security/privacy issues.
Anyone see a need?
I think lockbot gives you an option of how long before the lock screen goes into affect if you'd be willing to use an app for a lock screen...

Well... I'll answer your question... But this won't be helpful (Just a warning )
A need? No.. I honestly don't find it troublesome to swipe my finger across the screen after pressing the trackball (or Power button if you're not rooted/haven't setup Trackball Wake)
So, I don't really see a need. But good luck finding someone to accomplish your request. Just seems like it'd be a fair amount of work, to remedy 1 seconds time... Just my $.02
Try ScreenModeWidget at market, free.
choose awake stay.

Look in the market for "curvefish" he's a developer of widgets and has a lock screen on off widget that will let you turn it off then back on without having to reset the pattern. Hope that helps!
Keyguard disabler on the market. It works for me. I set it after a reboot and it works. It has a option to start on start but I just do it manually with the shortcut.
actually, i've been looking for the same solution as you are looking for! even i find it highly anoying when i keep the fone on my desk and have to sweep the screen each time i want to check it.
ideally, i'm looking for something likr what u get in the 5800.... the screen comes back on (after timning out) when you tap on the screen, unless u lock it explicitly via the hardware button...
neways, u kud try "no luck" which simply disables the lock screen. when the screen times out, pressing the hardware "home' or "lock/unlock" buttons brings the screen back on without having to go thru the unlock procedure...
Cheers,
I've been using touchscreen smartphones since the Omnia came out and never once have i needed a lock screen. I can't for the life of me work out why anyone would need anything more than a screen off/screen on button.
I'm using No Lock from the market now. It has a handy toggle widget/icon for enabling or disabling the lock function. As a bonus it allows screen wake on Trackball and volume buttons.
+1 for No Lock! It's the best way to get around that swipe pain.
Hi, I have a huge problem. Every time I make a call, preferably my voicemail, it asks me to press a number in the keypad.
Okay, that's fine. But the only problem is the screen blacks out immediately when the call is made and I cannot choose any of the options. I'm still in the call, although it will repeat the options for about a minute and just end the call.
I can't end the call manually or use the keypad. Tried pressing the lock button, the search, the menu, and Back button. Nothing seems to work.
Is there anything I can do about this? Because this is really becoming a hinderance.
Hi the proximity sensor should brighten the display up the moment you take it away from your ear, if it dosent prpbably there is a problem with it and you need to check it out with either the provider or HTC if you can.
normally to end call you click on the notification on top of the phone.
It is kinda annoying there is no physical button to end calls but i guess thats touchscreens for you
Probabily you use one case
that cover the proximty sensor
I don't use any case or screen protiction... maybe I should to replace it...Thanks..

I had the same problem. Hard reset solved it. Also solved a problem I had connecting with intermittent connections to Wifi. I think a bum app may have caused the problems.
Starting to happen again, not like last time though. Now it's intermitent and seem to recover when the other end hangs up. May try to get a replacement phone this time.
From what I've seen around the internet this is an OS issue... And it happens to me intermittently as well, though my lock button brightens the display... It seems to have something to do with the screen timeout and the lock screen enabling itself...
Mine had the same issue.
I would pull it away from my face, nothing.
Laid it down flat, nothing
Occasionally it would flash.
I had to return it, no problems since.
The sensor must have been loose and slid behind the open area of the glass.
If you can still, get a replacement
My replacement is in the mail. I have found that if I shake or tap the phone it will flicker and come back during a call. I think the sensor is faulty.
When I'm in a call and move the phone away from my ear, the screen will not come back on. Pressing the power button does not turn it on. The only way I found to get my screen back is to shake the device to trigger the camera, then go back to the phone. This makes it difficult to access the keyboard necessary during some calls. Today, I tried to turn on the speakerphone during a call but was unable to see the screen.
Is there something I'm missing about this? I don't know where to look. Anybody else seeing this? I do have a MIME glass screen protector installed but I don't think that should affect the proximity sensor.
I think I found the problem. I believe my case sometimes causes this.
