S740 - HTC Wings

Hello,
would there be a possibility to port the rom from the upcoming s740 to the s730?
In order to get hardware accelleration, for example.
I don't understand much from rom porting. So I ask here!
gr. Rob

Instead of creating S740, HTC should improve S730. Now I feel conned by HTC - if you want good working phone, buy new one! Next smartphone or PDA, which I buy will not be from HTC as they treat their clients like this...

I am going to hazard a guess that it will be possible to port out the rom from the phone, overall the phone is the same, and has GPS enabled so if you can get whatever the end result of the GPS thread here said was missing from our phone the new rom might add the software support for that to make it work.
The video exceleration might work, but the added issue is the new interface is going to be even more memory intensive and the new phone has tripple the memory. I am sure you could cut that out of the import and see about just porting the driver's for the acelleration but that driver might not support our hardware and might not work properly.
Will have to wait and see what happens when people get their hands on it and start tinkering.

All I can say is that they lost me as a customer for a long time (in these days you never say never)
The only way my phone became usable is by installing 6.1 from here.
I am still waiting for an update on the S730 that will make memory use logical.
There is no way in hell I am giving these guys any more of my money for the "improved version" of my already expensive phone.
I am going back to Palm for the Palm Treo Pro and at least suffer a little bit from faults of another company
J

We Touch Cruise owners felt the same way about the release of the Diamond. Our device is 6 months old. Instead of any fixes or updates, they release the Diamond. Furthermore, they tell us that better multimedia support will be in the form of newer devices (as opposed to much needed product updates).
Our official WM6.1 release isn't even here yet, but both the older TyTn II and the newer Diamond owners have seen ROM updates, with the Diamond having full 3D driver support and the TyTn II getting some support.

Sounds familiar indeed. Seems HTC priors the release of new mass sellers like the Diamond and the Touch pro and therefore won't work on any software updates or anything on other devices like the Touch cruise or the S730. This should be more balanced in my opinion.
They might lose a lot of customers that own HTC devices with shortages like the RAM memory leakage issue of the S730. The fact that the S740 has 256 (!!) MB RAM shows they do admit this RAM shortage of the S730. I think a 140 grams smartphone with just a 2,4 inch screen is still a bit too heavy/small these days.

All I can say is that I am very curious about a ported rom from the s740 for our s730's.
I it evident that a lot of s730 owners are very frustrated and dissappointed in HTC, as it is hard to keep ONTOPIC. Most posts are overloaded by negativity (which is justified).
For me the s730 is as close to perfect in terms of form factor as you can get. So I am not looking for a new device with more features. I want better usability and stability of my s730. And, also very important, getting the performance out of the hardware that is in it.
gr. Rob

the s740 spec wise is almost identical to our s730. hopefully some chefs can pick apart the s740 ROM and get the good parts [maybe GPS and new weather sliding panel and other stuffs].

Making Shift like phone...

Maybe I something missed or not...
I think everyone who use shift want that it become fullphone.
I`m sure that everyone ready to donate 50$ for this function.
but there are just one person who can do it, cmonex?
I call all to join to this who want this functionality we`ll make a foundation and donate money for this deal.
just one and final question to cmonex: will you do it and does it possible?
P.S. maybe someone other be able to do it?
why not,
I donate for SD Card funtionality too, if that works, we can porting Windows Mobile 6.1 to Shift, and maybe - later we can use Display drivers from HTC Touch HD
Maybe then the shift is useful
why not...
yes... count me in too... //_^
And then we could sell it to htc... hehe
Since they are incapable to give us a fully functional device, and they are not software supportive... to let us use it in higher computing speeds like ... not vista?
The vista thing is too much for the shift and you know it...
The shift is supposed to be a solution for the modern man, that has the need for a computer and a phone use simultaneously.
The shift is supposed to be a solution for us and not trouble...
I don't want to be radio waved by two devices every day... my Shift and my w810i ...
Honorably Yours,
P.S.
I 've made a small search about it's processor expandability.
And the news so far are bad... sort of...
They used a radio board that is not expendable.. at all... the processor socket is μFC-BGA663. A technology that has not been used for anything else... 0,90 nn in a parallelogram design. (not square!) As they use to.
The atoms are in a 0,45 nn technology with the μFC-BGA 478 and μFC-BGA 479 sockets...
I checked intel's site and i found that the information for the A100 and A110 "Steally" processors have only few information. AND THEY ARE NOT ON THE MAIN MENU!
They are allready passed the technology.
Why don't they make something in 0,45 nn for 663? (bigger chip more space... they could fit a quad or trio in there for crying out loud!... they have the tech to do it. They fit all ready dual cores in 478-9).
So forget about them too...
No daughterboard so far made to support another processor either...
So we could hope for a daughterboard ... but in a very small size :/
Anyway's ... if someone made this type of search and wants to share some information... i'm full ears. I'm really interested in upgrading the CPU.
Thank You.
50 US$: ok, but...
I would like to donate 50$ for this project (and I'll probably do that).
But do you really think that having a couple more of **** to "burn" should solve the problem? I mean: we're all beta-testers for new ROM's, and I read many posts of very clever people talking about daughterboards (and I really don't understand a single word of it, sorry ) . I mean: every strenght is just out there: people succeding in installing ubuntu or Xp Tablet, in changeing HDD, others waiting for new RAM to be produced, many cooking ROM's... Not to talk about software and optimization tips&tricks... What else do we need? I think: just some coordination, someone able to say "Ok, guys, we did this and we need to do that: let's try this way". Am I wrong?
So: if some of you needs his time to be paid I totally agree and I will give my contribution (I don't even want to think about any mean of "control" on the job that will be done), but if the only problem is to "beta-test" new solutions, sjust open a new thread, maybe naming it: "Do That On Your Risk"
Of course this is all IMHO
cmonex, where are you?
hehe, you all are right
normaly the best way is, to sell the shift and maybe you lose not to much money if you do that "now". Better to loose now 200-400€, as wait for semiprofessional solutions that comes maybe next half year. I buyed the Advantage X7510 befor i buyed the Shift, (better known as MDA AMEO 16GB) and they was **** too, i loosed as I resell them 400€ ;-) Then I believe in Shift, and this Device is not really better.
Best way is to buy a NET PC that is much cheaper - or if you want professional 8.9" Screen with Touchscreen (as sample) use the Fujitsu Siemens TabletPC Lifebook P1620. That is all much better to use, as an shift..
I´m really angry about HTC, I think, i have buyed most of all HTC´s that was sell in Europe, we have maybe 7000 USers with most Windows Mobile Push Services and most HTC Devices. But the quality is sometimes good, sometimes bad.
And the End of the Song: We have buyed 20000 Client Licences for Blackberry..
Sad, since 2001 I provide HTC Devices (or Operators branded HTC Devices) at the Side our customers and now I think that is the End...
I have try many other Devices from other companys then HTC, but most of them have same or related problems like HTC devices.
But for me is it not longer a problem, i have quit my job as technical responsible for that in our company last week and change to a other company - maybe then I have new Visions
howto deploy a Email Push Service for over 100000 Users
And maybe, it is not a WM Device, Not A Blackberry, maybe it is Nokia ´s Intellisync V9 Services, that works really stable on Nokia´s long powered S60 Phones.
And maybe: Nokia listen to my questions, improvements.
Maybe there is hope ;-)
Well, I think that there are two kinds of problems:
1. Software/ROM: and I just spoke of this a few posts ago.
2. Hardware: as much as you try to push Shift's functionality to the highest level, you'll always have to manage with RAM and processor... And as far as I can see, most of ROM's here published and cooked don't allow much more programs to be installed (I'm currently using Pli's ROM, and I just installed PhatNotes, then almost no more room for other things!!!). And I think that the most we try to get from our Shift, the less space we will have.
Anyway: when we bought Shift we all knew which were its limits, and more or less we accepted them. To me the only important missing SW is a web browser (PIE or Opera ). Not absolute need for GPS, and I can say I could live even without phone-on-shift.
As always IMHO

I have to agree.
I bought the Shift as it was advertised, a UMPC with built in high speed wireless modem!
There is nothing wrong with people experimenting for developement to get more functionality out of it in a purely non-professional way, but as soon as people start demanding ROM's from enthusiasts (and treating them as if they get a warranty!) and complaining that the device is rubbish because it does not do something it was never marketed to do, then you know they have lost the plot.
Also, IMHO too..

Is our diamond a good phone???

I have my diamond for almost a year now at first I bought a European diamond that does not work on the 3g network in my country (Colombia) then y had the chance to change it for the us version that support this network and with the help of all of you in xda developers I think that my phone is like a dream.
But in a Spanish forum that I also read (http://www.laneros.com/showthread.php?p=2690580#post2690580) the people say that the diamond is a piece of crap compared to the Samsung omnia or even the htc cruise.
It refer to the gps lag the all we know and is related to the qualcomm cpu. And the ram that is only 192mb that shares 64 mb with the 3d driver so left less that the ram that could have an older phone, and with the TF3D, the phone is too slow…
What do you think is the omnia much better phone that our diamond.
I read that because the screen with 4 times more resolution the diamond makes 4 x more operations or some thing la that. What do you think? I would like to answer this other forum but I have no technical information to contradict his theory.
I think all that matters is if you like it.

Dont no if diamond is the best phone, but i just love it. Love the small size and I have everything I want in a phone in my shirt pocket, so from that point of view i love it (dont want huge brick in my pocket).
Must ask how you can have used your diamond for a year? didnt diamond came out in June/2008?
My Diamond isnt so slow with the new 2.03 rom. Htc has atleast tried to improve it, that you cant say with Cruise= very nice phone too but when it came out it had a old wm6 rom and from my point of view the wm6.1 update came too late..But im very interested in omnia too but I think i wait for the next version with the better screen, should be released later this year or I wait for the phone that should replace diamond, that can be a good one.
Hope htc learn a lession with Diamond and dont release a phone too soon, which was the case with Diamond. For now im satisfide with diamond and its a good phone
it is a diamond
Test with 2.03
Hi,
I update to 2.03 my mobile from tre.se with some "hacks" because swedish phone.
I think 2.03 is better and now my phone is quicker.
Thx omaga for the tip

one of my mates has an omnia and he always asking to play with my diamond, so i cant be that much better lol
2.03
Hi,
My Diamond is quicker now with 2.03.
If you think that your diamond is to slow try 2.03
omnia : bigger storage , yes . louder sound , yes .better camera and flash , yes . much better battery life , yes .
but when i decided to choose between omnia and diamond , i hold them both in my hands and bought diamond although they both cost the same in that time (now diamond costs more in my country.libya)
so why i chose diamond , i don't know but loved it more
The Diamond is slow, has rubbish camera, no memory card slot, laggy GPS, sloppy music playback and terrible battery life. It's the best freckin' phone I've owned I just love it, with all the great work that everyone does on XDA developers, it's like the phone is constantly evolving. The Diamond I'm using today is nothing like the Diamond that was delivered to me, sure sometimes it makes me mad as hell but then it does make me smile. With every other phone I've owned I was always waiting for the next new model or version, with my Diamond I just wait to see what else it can do

I love how you turned it around regarding your comment here xavierdemon....Yes it does have it's faults but you couldn't have said it better, XDA developers create the essence of why we all truly believe that, "Diamonds are Forever"
At first, my battery seemed crap and the Rom to be luggish but after being exposed to this great community, the Diamond truly shines !!
Disclaimer
Hey it's all about being positive as well. No phone is perfect
xavierdemons post nails it.
isn't it the community around here, that is mostly responsible for the joy with our diamonds? i sure wouldn't have cooked rom of my like (how nice, you can choose of many!), registry-tweaks found by xda-devs, all those tipps and tricks that sum up to MY diamond which is like no other (iphones appear to me like clones - roger roger)...
it's not just the capabilities of pure hardware that make some of those devices kinda special... there were other mp3 players before the ipod, and hardware-wise htc has much more to offer than the iphone. (kinda lame i have to use apple stuff to phrase what i mean ^^)

...you really thought that HTC would do that!? If you thought that you were a dreamer! They like to sell new phones and not an old phone like the Kaiser
Windows Mobile 6.5 works on QVGA?
Out of interest, are any of the devices that will 'officially' be running Windows Mobile 6.5 QVGA? From what I see, the versions of 6.5 cooked into ROMS here are tweaked to fit on the smaller 320x240 screen - but the Touch Diamond 2 and Pro 2 are both WVGA devices with an 800x460 screen resolution aren't they?
If the 'proper' version of 6.5 is designed to work on VGA devices or better only, it's not surprising that HTC aren't planning on offering upgrades to older devices that don't support the higher resolutions. Sure, it can be made to work on older handsets - but not in the way Microsoft probably envisioned for their new release...
I might be wrong and I have my asbestos "flame-proof" jacket on, so I'm ready for the backlash
Actually, Microsoft has said that it will allow official upgrades on current 6.1 devices as long as they have a 400mhz processor and 128mb ram (plus the windows start key). The Kaiser meets all of those requirements, so it is eligible for an upgrade, but that would be at the discretion of HTC/carriers. I doubt that we will ever see an official upgrade due to the age of the Kaiser, but you never know.
More importantly, though, is whether it even matters. Do we even need an official 6.5 for the Kaiser to build off of, or can we do an equal/better job with the dumped 6.5 roms already being ported to our phone? I guess that would be a question I would put to our chefs out there.
Would it really be an 'upgrade' though if HTC provided it?
If the HTC Official WWE WM 6.1 'upgrade' for the TyTN II is anything to go by, I'd run a mile from any HTC provided WM 6.5 release for the TyTN II anyway. Apart from the fact there were so many bugs in the official WM 6.1 upgrade when compared to the relatively stable WM 6.0, it's clear from HTCs continual refusal to provide full (not partial) graphics driver support for even much newer devices, that they don't learn lessons from the past (or if they do, they don't act on them).
Given the TyTN IIs age now, I suspect if there was a further upgrade to come even the apprentice programmers' time would be considered to valuable for such a task and GPS, graphics performance and things like screen flashes when coming out of standby (all things still not fixed after nearly a year since the first WM 6.1 upgrade was released) would take a very low priority. I could be proven wrong but I don't have much faith that the HTC leopard would change its spots

I hope people don't misinterpret what I wrote, I believe the TyTN II was groundbreaking in its day and it certainly offered the right combination of features that other devices didn't have together in the one package. The problem is that there are a number of inexactitudes when comparing the actual device with all the advertising that was out for the device when first released (what I relied on for my purchase decision). Both advertiising from HTC and from Qualcomm the chip maker. Since then I've seen no indication that HTC is interested in maximising all the potential in this device to try and live up to those advertising claims and if anything their UK released ROM upgrade for my device actualy makes it worse. It's a sad state of affairs where a buggy 'upgrade' still hasn't been fixed nearly a year later and I'm fed up with sending letters to HTC which aren't listened to (not to mention the thousands of online petition signatories requesting full driver support for the embedded hardware actually on the device).
As someone who has worked as a computer technician I can tell you it is truely scandalous to release a product complete with an OS that doesn't have full driver support for embedded graphics acceleration and any full sized PC provider would not get away with it. Not only then but also the fact they haven't since come along with an update to address these concerns - hence my lack of faith in this company.
I would assume HTC's refusal to release system drivers would have to do with NDA's they signed with the various component manufacturers. I'm also relatively new to the world of XDA (but not winmo), so I would assume that this topic has been discussed to death on this site before.
@Flying Kiwi: I only had the Hermes for three weeks before I found a kickin deal on a Kaiser, but I have to agree it was a good phone. However, the upgrade to the Kaiser from the Hermes was worth the little extra I paid, if only for the gps and increased ram.
Not to get off topic, but does anyone else find Age of Empires to be incredibly addictive on a PDA?

The reasons you wanted a Kaiser to begin with are still the reasons you should buy a Kaiser
When you seek out an auto repair shop, you don't get turned off from buying a car because of all the cars there being repaired. You don't see the tens of thousands of cars that are not there being repaired.
Most of the problems are user errors, hardware always breaks @ somepoint & like denco7 says you just get it repaired or D.I.Y.
So don't be put off as loadz of us love our Tilt\Kaisers and don't have problems.
you might also want to define what a "problem" truly is in your opinion...as well as assess your own capacity to deal with "problems" and your commitment to dedicating some time to investigate, research, and find solutions to the "problems" (unless they turn out to be hardware issues).
the kaiser is my FIRST winmo phone and i've had it for 1.5 years now and it is a joy to use, provided you're willing to invest time and effort in reading about the possible tweaks and customizations.
most of the "problems" as stated above are due to user errors...i also include in this category problems that stem from unsuitable radios for your area and/or ROM. although the official ROMs TRY to ship with a radio that SHOULD give you good reception and data speeds and gps performance and battery life, still some people get better (and sometimes worse) experiences after they swap the radio versions.
the camera is great until its transparent plastic cover on the back panel gets inevitably scratched (takes about 4 months of use if you're not using a carrying case). the workaround for this issue is to remove the back cover and then take a picture/video if capture quality is a preference. the camera is autofocus but always seems to be locked in "night mode" and this equates to low FPS when shooting videos. the workaround for this is to run the camera app, put the device in standby, cover the lens with your palm, and wake the device. you'll get smooth FPS at the expense of a darker image. hope you are starting to see how the community has developed/discovered acceptable workarounds.
the stock ROMs tend to have a lot of bloatware (there are workarounds for preventing the bloatware from being installed on initial setup after a hard reset). the stock ROMs are generally EARLY builds of winmo6.0 and winmo6.1. to stay on the bleeding edge of features and performance, you're left with no choice other than the superb cooked ROMs available here on xda (including the much improved winmo6.5).
if you're already eyeing the polaris and you are satisfied with its features and reviews, the kaiser is essentially THE SAME DEVICE with slightly different looks, a d-pad, a tilting screen (available on only ONE other htc device, i.e. the LATEST touch pro 2), a slide out hardware keyboard, and an easier mechanism to hot swap your micro sd card. incidently, these advantages make the kaiser more popular (than at least the polaris) and this gives it a lot of regular attention and lovin' from the fine chefs and developers at xda.
usb port failures are common, but i gather a lot of other device families from htc suffer from the same problem.
last but not least are the issues related to the video drivers. once again, the polaris suffers from THE SAME video issues. even most of htc's NEWEST devices still have shoddy video drivers (probably qualcomm or at least htc's technology deal with qualcomm is to blame). once again, work arounds and tweaks and community developed drivers are available that manage to achieve an acceptable level of video playback performance, 3d rendering performance, and general GUI operations for most common use cases.
the final set of issues are probably due to WINDOWS itself. the kaiser has a regular 2.8 inch screen and this is not the best size at which winmo6.0 and winmo6.1 can be finger friendly. winmo6.5 is a LOT better at being finger friendly even on a 2.8 inch QVGA screen like the kaiser's (and the polaris'). and don't forget, nearly ALL the devices upto and including the kaiser (and even the newer diamond and touch pro 1) have ~2.8 inch screens. again, some applications are DESIGNED to be finger friendly regardless of the OS version, and tweaks and add-on applications are available to improve the size of the keys on the dialer and on the on-sceen keyboard, for example.
THAT, my friend, is the whole deal. every device has its own personality and thankfully, most of the kaiser's issues have (both easy and kinda tricky) workarounds. the rest is up to microsoft to quickly evolve winmo6.5 to be rock stable, fast, and (nearly) fully backward compatible with the rich base of software available for the windows mobile platform.

Are People Giving Up On The X1?

As of late, 'our' part of the forum is seeing less frequent updates. Modders seem to leave for newer phones and the various ROMs that are being updated are becoming a minority.
So, are you still sticking with the X1 or are you thinking of getting the X2 or any other next-gen phone?
I am sticking with my X1 for now. Can't afford an X2 or X10 yet Maybe I'll change it in 4-5 years Just hope the chefs and cook keep coming out with better and better ROMs.
You cannot predict that kind of things anyway
Seeing as i cant get the X2 anywhere on contract and it isnt going to be much better than the x1 i am going to get the HD2 - its looks amazing!
I'm sticking with x1 for now too. But I am also very eager to get the Nexus One in my hands... as it already has a large and fast growing support on this very forum.

X1 for now definitely.
A great device.
X2 soon probably.
Happy with X1
I'm happy (and stuck on contract still for quite a while) with X1
It's a great hardware form factor if you want a hardware keyboard in a 'normal' sized phone, okay HD2 is definitely the lead 'sexy' device at the moment but it's too big and doesn't have a hardware keyboard.
To me there still seems to be a lot of ROM activity going on (more choice than I can handle) and the fact that latest Sense 2.5 has now been enhanced on this forum to run in landscape means that phones like the X1 are actually getting better again with later ROMs whereas before that it made sense to stay on Manilla 2.1 to have landscape support.
I'm just hoping that the cooks and the community get to the bottom of this Standby of Death problem that seems to be affecting many people on our X1 with WM6.5 + Manilla 2.5 builds as shiny software is nice, but unreliable is not something I can accept in my phone
People knock WM6.5's progress, but try the latest WM6.5.3 ROMs with buttons all along the bottom, Manilla 2.5 and finger friendly menus and icons everywhere and WM6.1 feels a huge step back!
Overall I'm very disappointed that Sony dropped the X1 with no official WM6.5 support after boasting that we were premium customers and would be supported as such...you bet I am!
However the ROM forum for X1 is still buzzing and making major changes so I'm very happy and see a bright future for the X1 still.
Thanks XDA Developers!
X10 or Nexus one
Just waiting for next month for MWC2010 for see all the goodies if nothing interesting then X10 or Nexus one
cheers
XT701 - if I can make it to China soon!
But realistically, I'll probably stick to X1 for a good few years because I don't even see anything on the horizon that fits my wants. Maybe WM 7 will come with some sweet new phones? If the XT701 comes to America I might get it when it hits despite the lack of a hardware keyboard.
I only just got my X1!
I went over to the HD2 camp. Still visit xperia forums occasionally as it now is my "play with roms" phone.
I'm still definately staying on the x1 ..... I've been a big harvester in times when the x1 scene was crowded and up-to-date....lately I have learned cooking and am trying to create ma own stuff.....now i'm under exams but i'll defo try to offer gd stuff for x1 users for at least an year or so....so yes I'm here to stay and to COOK !!

Me too, still have 20+ months contract more... loving X1 at least it is better than some normal phones that does not have qwerty keypad, I chose this phone because of its accessibility on qwerty keyboard and it looks nice
I have only my X1 at the minute. Contract is due for an upgrade in June, so considering the X10. I don't think that the X2 is worth upgrading too as many people have said that anything available on the X2 also works on the X1 (within reason...)
Love my wee X1 (beats the pants of my co-workers' Blackberrys! )
well... as some of You know allready - I gave up. the _only_ thing worse in hd2 over x1 is battery life. other than that - couldn't been happier... for now.
btw: no x2 in voda uk http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=11973 boo hoo we shall be so sad now I guess...
I think there will be ROM development for the X1 for quite a while. I had a Prophet before the X1, and there was a lot of activity on that forum 2 years after I got mine, and a good 18 months after it was non-current.
I think ROM development is the leading indicator to watch. I haven't looked at stats between different forums, but subjectively based on current activity I think we'll have ROMs for a while .
From a hardware perspective, the X1 is pretty good (prepare to be flamed). OK it's not leading edge any more, no accelerometer, video issues etc, but in terms of the processor and onboard RAM it's going to be OK.
Would I like the latest phone? Of course, but running a custom ROM which is fast & stable, I don't have a lot of motivation to change.
So I'm staying
I'll be staying
I've had this phone for 3 months and now i've only discovered the SE support issue. I wish i knew it when i brought it but i love the x1 in all its faults. What else could i buy, i didn't like much and it needed to be professional?! I hope development continues. I don't expect WM7 to be ported but that would be great.. I'm sure the phone wouldn't be able to run it on its specs.
Regardless I'll start a new thread and see what you guys are using your phones for and how you sync, i'm after ideas - this is my first smartphone.
I've had my X1 since a few weeks after it's release. I love it, but was dissatisfied that the software felt "unfinished" when SE released it. I now have the latest Christian Clean ROM installed and am pretty satisfied. I'll stick with the X1 until a truly kick-ass phone comes along:
My kick-ass phone:
1) "Zune HD phone"
2) iPhone responsiveness or better. I want absolutely no pauses and lags when I am operating the phone. This pisses me off most about WM. A faster CPU alone won't solve this!
3) Comprehensive speech-to-text (especially in SMS'ing and email)
4) INSTANT task switching when multi-tasking.
5) Hardware keyboard
6) Built-in comprehensive voice navigation so third-party developers can take advantage of it (not an add-on app like Voice Command).
7) Media download service ala iTunes (In other words, Zune integration)
8) Tegra, Snapdragon, nVidia or whatever CPU
9) Heavy-duty construction like X1 or original iPhone.
I probably won't buy another SE phone though. After the X1, it seems SE started going downhill and are showing no signs of improvement (X2 and X10 for example). I will probably get something HTC (an HD2 with keyboard that works with U.S. AT&T would be nice), unless Apple releases an iPhone with keyboard, multitasking and WVGA screen
X1 now but wait for X10 when is out....
I am waiting for a high end Android device with AT&T 3G support to come out. My X1 is so frustrating. My battery drains to about 40% then just dies like the battery is empty.
