How long? 3 hours? Till 100%? Or mythicaly 16 hours like suggested in old times?
It says til 3 hours, but i did it until 100% charged, i hope this hasn't damage the life of my battery :]
i did it until 100% charged too, i didn't want to wait X hours to test the phone
3 hours
and it should be good

Hello !
I have my HTC HD7 since 3 days and in general I am happy with it, but the recharging takes ages.
Is this a normal behavior for the HTC HD7 that the recharging takes between 3 and 4 hours.
I would understand it if I would charge it thru the pc/notbook but it also takes that long if I charge it thru the AC adapter.
I am very interested in your experiences.
Thx
Hi I just bought the phone yesterday and I noticed that as well, it seemed to be chargning a lot slower than what I would expect. I too am curious about this. I charged it for 4 hours and the battery went from dead to about 50 or 60 percent.
Don't worry I was worried at first also, I was also pissed at the wack ass battery life. Could barely last 3/4 of the day for the first few weeks.
Now it takes about an hr. or 2 to charge & it lasts me the whole day. It gets better, be patient.
Is it normal for the battery to take 8 hours to charge? My fascinate would take about 2, the battery on this thing drains faster than it charges! Love the phone, but is this normal?

I've noticed it takes a while to charge mine too...granted, not 8 hours. But more like 3-4, which still sucks.
Ya, I plugged mine in 3 hours ago and am only at 38%.
Check the amps on the charger. USB from the computer is usually 500mA. The charger that comes with it, and most others are 1A. If you can find a 2A charger go for it. you can get one that was for the ipad that is 2A.
My experience so far is it charges approximately 20% per hour on a Motorola 850mA wall charger. Really slow compared to my OG Droid which seemed like it would fully charge from nearly dead in about 90 minutes on the same charger.
With the wall charger I can full charge from 20% in 1 to 2 hours. I never charge more than 2 hours to get full.
USB takes longer but not that much. 3hrs maybe.
Battery Charging Issues
I do fuel cell research and we deal with rechargeable batts. There is a drawback with rapid charging it generates heat and shortens lifespan. Be very careful with exceeding the manufact. specs on amperage. I have seen packs explode and burn when current overload protection fails.
My batt life is about 8 hrs after I deep discharged/charged for a few cycles and the charge time is quicker now. My Rev stays cool unlike my flashed Omnia 910.
I will not be too surprised if LG issues a software fix.
In the dawn of the smart-phone one has to accept short battery life and deal with ac chargers, I do on a daily basis. Only so much energy can be stored in a small form battery.
Through USB, it takes me about 8-9 hours to charge, and if thats if the alarm doesn't go off on it. Bad news if it does because its either stop charging, or draining because I wake up sometimes a couple hours after a certain alarm and only have 38% battery.
Even on the wall, it takes too long to charge. The time it takes me to charge sucks.

Takes about 8hrs tops for me from dead on USB. However on the wall charger it only takes me 2 hours from dead. But i usually plug it in around 15% so really about 1hr 45min on average with the wall.
I tend to do the USB when i sleep though because as far as battery tech goes, the slower the charge the longer the battery will last(life wise, not throughout the day charge wise)
Just to give an update, my frustration level with my phone of 6 hour discharge and 8 hour charge times I decided to root, cwm, and decrapify it. Instant difference! After 1 day I put my phone on the charger at 8:30 last night with 1% battery left, it was fully charged by 10:30. Took it off of the charger at 10:30 last night and it is now 5:00 pm and I am still at 25%! This is with moderate usage, 4g on the whole time, Beautiful Widgets w/auto updating weather and location, Plume widget, Facebook widget, Youtube widget, and plenty of XDA scanning. If you haven't done so, I highly recommend the upgrades!

Hey all.. Picked up a Verizon Moto X yesterday and am absolutely loving it. I did have a quick question concerning the battery and am trying to figure out if I need to take this one in and exchange it. Yesterday when I was using the phone out of the box it drained fairly quickly. When the battery hit about 18 percent I got a warning that the battery was getting low... less than 30 seconds later I was getting another warning that the battery was at 13 percent and another 30 second I was at 3 percent battery.. I plugged the phone in, charged it to 100 percent and chalked this up to just a weak charge out of the box.
After the phone was off the charger I played a game of dots, watched about 40 minutes of man of steel and went to bed at 86 percent battery. When I woke up 7 hours later battery had drained to 67 percent. I went about my day and wanted to see how the battery served me at work.
Same thing happened this evening where the battery hit about 18 percent and within a minute I was getting a 3 percent warning. I used the phone for about another four minutes and it died completely.
I'm not really complaining about battery life... All in all I had around 21 hours with 2 and a half hours screen on time. I did notice that Google services had the phone "awake" for almost 20 hours. I'm mostly concerned about the sudden drop in battery and was curious as to if anyone else has experienced it. I'm currently letting the phone charge powered off in hopes that it helps. Thanks in advance guys.

My phone does the same thing. The last 20% sucks. Just dies. Lol

Try doing a battery calibration. Check if there's any app sucking the battery that much.
My Moto X today kept 2h and 30 minutes on 1% battery (i've put it on charge before dying), and took like forever to get from 20% to that.
Maybe you got a defective unit.
No cuz it drops quickly to 1% but just like u that last 1% easily goes for half hour to hour. Idk my actual problem is it'll say 14% left then in 10 minutes 4% left!

Same here except I have the at&t version
I have the Rogers version and I've had it drop from ~25% to 15% pretty quickly. From 15% to 0 it lasts ok, but it has never stayed on 1 or 2 for very long. I've only gone through 3-4 charge cycles so far. Overall the battery life seems pretty good.
dsuctf which
While mine doesn't drop that quickly, I did go my first day with the phone for 18 hours, and then the next day in pretty much the same conditions it only lasted 11. Going to try again today and see if it does it again.

interesting. mine got to 3% last night and i got "nervous" and plugged it in. has anyone actually killed off the battery yet (shut the phone down)? seems like previous DROID phones would shutdown long before it got to 1%.
had the same issue for weeks. the fix: let phone die completely. then charge phone back up to 100%. I left the phone off while charging (not sure if it is necessary but I did it anyway to ensure that the phones software wasn't causing the phone to charge weird). Once i did this, the phone never dropped from 15 to 1% again and it also doesn't charge from 80% to 100% instantly like it used to.
I ended up taking the phone and exchanging it.. New phone did the same thing.. I let it die completely and charged it overnight while powered off.. Today it was prefect.. Actually have had to try to kill it. Also got my kit kat ota... Absolutely loving this phone. Thanks all!

96 percent with 5 hours left? .... that's atrocious...
Hopefully that's only because I just got the phone and it hasn't been calibrated with the correct usage time...
got it an hour ago... already removed forced encryption, unlocked bootloader, root, and got pure shamu on it.
There's a whole thread on battery life in general section:

Those estimated times are straight rubbish when you first take it off the charger, especially if you use it striaght away too...
Give it a chance, not sure this needed a thread tbh
The estimated time remaining just seems to figure out the average drain per hour since you fully charged your phone. It then takes that same drain rate and computes the time until you run out of battery. So, if you fully charge your phone and then use it for 10 or 20 straight minutes, its going to compute its projection based on 100 percent screen on time since that's your usage since you fully charged it. In your example, it looks like you just took it off the charger so that's probably whats happening to you. After a couple hours and more mixed usage, it should give a more realistic projection.

Hi last night my note 5 was on 65% woke this morning to find it at 4%. Charged mobile to full and as soon as I took it off charge lost 5% in 2 mins. Is the battery need of replacement?
Yes
