Exchange Push Mail Setup - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I am trying to set up my device for push email from my company exchange server. I am following the instructions but cannot find exchange activesync in the comms manager. I also do not have exchange server in the "In Your e-mail provider" drop down. Am I missing something? Please help. Thanks

Figured out how to set up the exchange activesynch over wifi or 3G. It is not as statd in the manual, you actually have to set it up through activesync. I am still stuck with push email as it is not in my cennection manger menu. Any help?

You would probably need an application like advanced configuration by Schaff to activate the MS Direct Push button in your Comm Manager.
You can find Adv Config using the search feature on the site.

Email / Exchange

Having a few problems with email. I can't find any way of managing email accounts in WM6. I am currently trying to sync with my companies exchange server. I have all the details I need but when I try to add an email address via Start > Messages > Messaing > New Email account" I get stuck.
It asks me for my email address. I uncheck the 'find settings on the internet' box thing. It then asks for my name and pop3/imap4 server address. I assume this is trying to setup the wrong type of email as I was expecting to be able to select 'Exchange Server' but I am not getting the option to do so.
Am i doing something retarded?
Thanks
Jon
To connect to exchange server directly you go to active sync on your device and "Configure Server"
Don't know what your doing but for me it works fine.
Exchange for skool mail.
Pop3 for Mobile private website mail.
Outlook sync for Private website mail.
It gave me the option the first time I did it but not anymore. Is it only possible to sync with one exchange server and that I have to delete the first attempt before trying to add another?
Also, is there a way of managing the email accounts in WM6 as I want to delete a couple of test accounts I have been playing with and cant seem to find out how to get rid of them.
Thanks
Jon
Open an email or SMS account.
Tap Menu, Tools, Options.
That takes you to a screen where you can add or delete accounts as well as change connection settings for them.

You can only sync with one exchange server.
Think I have most things sorted now. The only issue I cannot resolve is I am not being alerted when a mail arrives in my live messenger account. I get the alert when it lands in the inbox but am not being alerted if one of my message rules sends it to one of my custom folders.

Help! Direct Push icon disabled in connection manager

So I installed xpress mail on my tilt and also the client software that connects to my lotus notes server. My phone is registered and it has downloaded the mail and the calendar entries. I also have enable push set in the xpress mail settings section.
I send a test email to my work email to see how fast I get the email on my phone. I didn't get it for a while, so I went to http://xpressmailpe.cingular.com and after login in, I did see that it was connected to my desktop client and the new email was displayed in the inbox.
Seems like the push is not working, I can get the new email if I do a manual send/receive. I have send several test emails and waited for hours to see if the push works, but no luck.
I was then reading the manual and I read about enabling the direct push icon in the connection manager. However, my direct push icon is greyed out and so I can not enable it
Please help if anyone knows why the push is not working and how can i enable direct push in the connection manager. Do I need to install Black Berry Connect to get the direct push functionality working?
Much appreciated!

Push Email question

I just flashed Dutty's Rom and when I am trying to setup Push Email I am being prompted for a "Device Address" which is either a sms address or a "corporate service provider" I've never had to input this information before.
What do i need to input here?
Any help would be appreciated!
how are you setting up "push email ? what app?
I'm suing activesync and my companies OWA site.
What do you mean by setting it up through OWA? I also have push email and the only info I needed were the server address, my username, pass and port settings.
Can you tell me were exactly the question is asked? I also have Dutty's ROM running, and I want to test if I get the same question. That way I might be able to help you.
If you're trying to use OWA on the Kaiser, try OMA (Outlook Mobile Access). But I think I just misunderstood your question...
You get that question IF you set up your exchange server to also be able to send notifications on SMS.
Unless you need that feature - turn it off in exchange server.

I go to ActiveSync on the phone, then select Menu, and select configure server.
it asks for server address, which i input., Then I hit next,
then eneter my user name, password, and domain, then select next.
Then i chosoe the data i wanted synhronized.
Then hit finish.
I then go to "Schedule", i select the sync during peak times and off peak times settings. and then at teh bottom of the screen i get adjust peak times, and "when new items arrive" both underlined.
I select when new items arrive and this is where it then asks me for my service provider.
That's strange. I use push email and never ran into this problem (AT&T as well). I go through "Mail->Set up new account", but going through ActiveSync should be the same. Make sure your AT&T connection parameters are configured. For me it always happens automatically (with Dutty's and most other ROMs).
Just thinking here: What version of Exchange server are you using? Push Email wasn't introduced since the introduction of AKU2 service pack for Exchange 2003. Could it be that your company is using an older version of Exchange?

Its server side yes.
You should contact your IT-administrator and ask him to investigate this for you.
Its probably just a permission issue.
You could set your activesync manually to be 100% sure.
By unchecking the "look for settings automatically" in the beginning of the activesync wizzard.
That way you are sure you reach the correct mail server.

exchange/OWA work mail setup

ok i'm sorry, but i have been all over the place and still cant make this work!
my work IT dept only allows remote email via the web. i can access using opera no problem but i'd like to sync/push/downloadupload/whateveritscalled into my outlook on the phone seamlessly. HOW DO I DO IT?!?!? i have tried and TRIED to set this up to no avail thru "new account" in the messaging and thru activesync. it cant be that hard since there are only 2 simple steps when i access it via opera.
#1) i go to the website:
www.sodexhomail.com (but when it loads, the full address is https://www.sodexhomail.com/owa/&reason=0)
#2) and i login with only 2 pieces of info:
domain\username: xx-xxxxxxx\myname
password: xxxxxxxx
please please PLEASE someone tell me how to set this up STEP BY STEP so i dont have to keep going thru opera!
thanks!
Ok this is not so hard. I configured it myself many times.
First you have to ask your IT Department whether they allow mail on your device. What if you lose your device, other people might have access to sensitive emails.
For pushmail to work you need an Active Directory user account and this account has to be mailbox-enabled. From the information you just supplied, you do have an AD account which is mailbox-enabled.
When you go to http://www.sodexhomail.com/owa you will see that you will be redirected to https://www.sodexhomail.com/owa Do you see the extra S behind HTTP ? THis means that you access your website securely. In your internet browser on your normal desktop or laptop computer you will see a little golden lock at the end of the address bar. When you click it, you have the option to see the security certificate and to export it to a file. Export this certificate to a file (just click next all the time and give it a descriptive name) and save it on your computer. Then connect your Diamond to your computer and transfer this certificate to your diamond. On your Diamond browse to this certificate and click it so it will be installed. For ActiveSync and Pushmail to work you must do this.
Ask your IT Departmend whether they have enabled your user account for active sync and pushmail. If not, you can't use pushmail. If they did, continue with the following steps on your diamond.
Ok, you've already installed the ssl security certificate on your diamond. Now open Active sync on your diamond and do the following.
1. Click MENU.
2. Click Configure Server
3. In the field Server address type: www.sodexhomail.com and enable SSL
4. click next
5. In the User name filed type your user name and password
6. In the domainfield, type sodexhomail.com and enable to remember your password.
7. Click next
8. Enable the items you want to sync, like contacts, calender, email and tasks
9. Select email and click configuration and select the option how far back active sync should go for syncing emails and select for the messages HTML.
10. Click advanced and enter your email address.
11. CLick Finish.
12. In the main Active Sync menu, click menu again and choose Schema
13. Select As items arrive and configure the times you want to receive pushmail. I entered 00:00 - 23:59 so 24h a day.
Now you should be done.
Good luck.
EDIT: If your company uses Microsoft Exchange 2007, maybe your administrators configured Outlook Anywhere. This means that you only have to install the ssl certificate and dont have to configure the above steps. On your diamond you simply go to Start - Messages and create a new account. Fill in your company mail adddress and password and on the next screen you will be asked if you want to configure your mail settings from the internet automatically. I configured this myself and works like a charm. But if your IT admins did not configure Outlook Anywhere, this won't work.
You an only do it if your company enables OMA (outlook mobile access).
OWA for access via a browser and OMA for push access via activesync are totally different.

His company uses Exchange 2007 and there is no more OMA in Exchange 2007.
MRE-net, you are awesome! thanks so much for the help, but i have good news and bad news.
i followed your instructs to the letter, but it does not work. whereas before i was getting a "check your settings/password" error or the like, i am now getting "Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server admin. support code: 0x85010004". before i even tried to sync, 2 things you said (as well as knowing how tight my company is with info) told me that it wouldnt work in the end:

so...good news, i'm acutally smart enough to follow instructions, thank you so much! and bad news is that the sync error tells me that my company doesnt support/allow it (right?), and i'm guessing theres no way around this without IT admin involvement.
thanks again.

You have to get them to enable active sync for your mailbox.
In the meantime solution
Had a similar problem so i requested IT to send duplicate emails to my live/hotmail account which they had no problem with. From hotmail its easy to sync to WM. You can also tell hotmail that when it sends emails it can do it on bahalf of [email protected].
[Then you can set a rule on hotmail to forward some emails back to your main work account - have not donr that though]

Xperia and Microsoft Exchange Server

hi friends,
I want to configure my Xperia with my official Microsoft Exchange server. THe problem i am facing that when i connect my Xperia to the PC and it is synchronized with my outlook it can download all the mails/contact etc...
But i wanted that if i am on move, i can still get the mails directly on the Xperia.
I tried to configure exchange server from Active Synchronization Menu --->configure server , and it give me msg its the same as your look web access server and everything okay, but when from Messaging Menu if i try to send the email or do Send/ Recieve for my outlook, i am not able to recieve/send emails.
Is there anyone else having the same problem, Help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Jade
??? what ???
idont understand your whattt?
either my question is confusing for you ?
Regards
Jade
I don't understand the question either.
When you start the ActiveSync application (on your device) and click Sync, it will either synchronize with Exchange or display an error message if it doesn't work. Assuming it doesn't sync successfully, what's the error message that is displayed?
Well when i configure it from STart--->Active Synchronization and put all the server details over there it configure my settings, and give me msg that the Exchange server is same as that of your outlook.
But when i press the send/recieve button for the outlook email , it keep on showing connecting and later say error Synchronizing.
Um...
You want to ActiveSync your phone with the PC over the Internet?

Ah.. I assume you're entering your email address, username, password and domain, then ActiveSync tries to do the automatic configuration and then displays a text box to enter your server address? If so, the automatic configuration didn't work and you have to enter the server address manually (which is the same as the server address configured on your desktop Outlook (check your Outlook configuration if you're not sure) or the address of Outlook Web Access, maybe something like mail.whatever.com).

Please try to sync using the ActiveSync application. It will display an error message, which will probably help to find the problem.

Microsoft Exchange is pretty cool
Have you checked both Mail for Outlook and WM Active Sync in your configuration? For your needs you may only activate Mail for the Server, not the PC connection. Look also for other conflicts like tasks and so on.
I think i am not able to elaborate my problem clearly. Let me do again
I am having a corporate account and that is configured on my Microsoft Outlook and i receive all my corporate mails over there.
Now as i did on my SE P990i, i have set the same corporate account which use Microsoft Exchange Server on my Mobile, and that i wanted to do on Xperia too. So that i can recieve the emails on my computer and on Xperia.
But i cannot configure it even having the right settings for exchange server. and it keep on showing connecting......... but do nothing.
Thanks
Jade
I made few change in the settings and now getting this msg
Microsoft Exchange:
Result:
The security certificate on the server is not valid. Contract your exchange server administrator to install a valid certificate on the sever.
View support code: 0x80072F0D
=====================
But the same Microsoft Exchange server works fine for me on P990i, and its not possible to contact my head office in USA just to ask them install any certificate for me ):
any other solution.

Jade

The most likely cause of this issue is that your company uses a self-signed security certificate instead of a commercial one, which is why your device doesn't trust the certificate. You have to install the certificate to your device to be able to use it:
Open your webmail (Outlook Web Access) site in Internet Explorer, using https (if IE gives you a certificate error too, just accept it)
Click the lock icon (either on the top or at the bottom, depending on your IE version) to view the security certificate
On the "Details" tab, click "Copy to File" and save it (default export settings) to your device or storage card
On your device, install the certificate by launching it through File Explorer.
(You could also disable SSL for the Exchange Server connection, but I don't recommend this at all.)
Also, you will most likely be able to use Push Mail with Exchange, so mails will be delivered to your device right after receiving them, without having to do scheduled or manual Send/Receive .
My friend,
Thanks alot for your reply, i have tried to follow step by step what you said, as also given on this link
http://www.confusedamused.com/notebook/installing-windows-mobile-60-root-certificates/
I was able to generate the certificate and installed it on my Xperia, and can also see it in the certification list, but still getting the same error.

Hmm, did you install the root certificate or just the web server certificate (step 4 on the page you linked)? I'm not sure, it's possible you need the root certificate and not just the server certificate.
Well i followed all the step given on the link i pasted above. I installed the root certficated, but which server certificate you are talking about, though i followed all the step of that link.
Thanks
Still looking for some possible solution.......
You might want to ask your corporate admin for the exchange server.
They may changed the settings.
you need to enable push internet and configure your exchange for push internet. contact your mobile provider for that. and about the certificates you need to install it in your phone.
