When you convert the film DVD files (using say DVDFab) you can convert them with subtitles.....mind you, the text is so small that its impossible to read...good luck though mate, you must have fantastic eyesight
Rather than watching a movie with subtitle, I would like to have a music player that display lyrics. Anyone got a suggestion?

I take it you use dvdfab? Are you willing to share the settings you use that are best for the diamond?
I’m looking for a video converter and got the dvdfab trial.
maybe there is a subtitle plugin for TCPMP that works on diamond? And then convert subtitles to smi. Is it possbile?
you can used pocket divx encoder its freeware just google it!
you can use it to hard encode the subs onto the video.
not sure how your gonna be able to read em tho!

Please try this if you are suffering problems with video playback on your Kaiser (NOT VIDEO GAMES).
Go to the OFFICIAL DivX website and download the latest full package. Try out the DivX converter using the setting 'Mobile' (you can try it for a period then if you like it you can then purchase it).
This device has its faults but if you are not prepared to work around this you should not post on this developers site!
I can play any movie file over WiFi from my WLHDD2.5 in perfect rendition (for a PDA) after doing this with the basic TCPMP set to GDI playback.
JUST GIVE IT A TRY, you have nothing to lose!!!
EDIT..Use the .81 version of TCPMP if you can get it, buffer processing is faster.

No, I am stuck here with TCPMP until I get back to UK to purchase the new Coreplayer as my cred card wont work from the UAE online.
I am just trying to pass on any workarounds I find to others. I expect a massive factor of improvement when I get it but anything before that will also help others.

Yep, it does!! But has patience been lost? We are developers... Not miracle workers.. Even iTunes takes full control of the other type of unit (COMPLETELY!) to convert...I think the fact we still have a factor of control on our devices to CHOOSE is befuddling people... If it was all fully auto then XDA would no longer exist!!!

Video??? I can't even get WMP to sync more than 30 songs before dropping the connection. It took me 5 nights of sitting there reconnecting every 90 minutes or so just to get 4GB of music synced up. I have to say, this is one job the iPhone handles WAY, WAY, WAY better. The whole MS thing is just sad and disappointing.
It's funny that everyone talks about how it is nice to be able to install 3rd party apps to make your device better. Yes, you can not yet install 3rd party apps on the iPhone, but the biggest point is, in many case you don't need to. The browser works great, chat works great, music playback works great, video playback works great, google maps work great, email works great, etc....
My suggestion for video on the Kaiser is, don't waste your time with it. I have wasted 10s of hours trying and it is just not worth it. I have tried 6 different encoders including DivX, Pocket Divx, Handbrake, 4 different file types and countless bitrates, framerates and codecs.
tbh,i would really wanted an iphone but there are some major flaw that why i din buy it although its my dream phone
1st, its not available in my place officially(only can get cracked version), no 3g, no mms,can edit word, excel and blah blah
and although i dont knw will i face the same problem when i am syncing songs, as i haven try yet
but no, you dont need to waste 10hours to get ur kaiser to play video
just downlaod tctm, install it in kaiser
download divx, convert it as the 1st post says so, then upload to ur device...done
less then 30minutes all done

I use a product called "Wondershare DVD Ripper Suite" (has a ripper and a converter) and it has a nice batch feature as well. I have also had success with "SPB DVD" and "DVD to PocketPC" by a company called Makayama. "Ashampoo Shrink and Burn 3" does fine for me as well. Also, I have noticed that Windows Media Player performs some type of conversion/compression when syncing. For example, "Star Wars 3" is a 855 MB WMV file, but when I synced it to my device it was only 359 MB. However, when I transferred the original 855 MB file to my storage card using a card reader it was still 855 MB - what is Windows Media Player doing besides syncing?

It is probably doing its best to convert a video file (of which there are MANY formats) to the preferred WM AVI PDA format. If you do not have the corresponding CODEC in your PC WM player it will not even try..Everyone has to try to standardise their media format for the player designate. If you expect the file you have on your PC/Laptop to play the same on your portable device 100% without conversion then I am afraid you are living in cloud cuckoo land! The processor speed and video codecs are radically different for WM devices against full Windows machines. (irrespective of any driver omission before anyone starts!!)
Aspect Ratio is not only for screen playback... it is for what you expect from your device....
what kind of file types do you download?
Do you use a converter?
I downloaded some movies from this blackberry movies site and that was fine. But none of the videos I have on my computer work.

DivX is one the most popular format for videos for computers, but only one app (yxplayer)will play them. It cost $20, and doesn't work anymore. It worked in 1.5, but after a few rom flashes on my part and updates on their part, it would freeze the video randomly. If there is a way I could pull the apk from one of my old nands, when it was still xyplayer, it might work.

An awesome conversion program, then use mVideoplayer from the market. It remembers your brightness setting for watching movies, the position you were in the movie if you tab out to do something else and come back, you'll be ready to pick up right where you were. Even has srt/sub title support for those like myself who watch subbed anime on the go.
Terrific player + handbrake makes crunching movies down into the correct file type and size (480x320) a cinch.
i was hoping someone would ask that question. Try the videoplayer.apk from the droidx
what does that play.

Hey all, first post here. I have what should be a simple question but I can't find a clear answer. I'm going on a trip and want to watch a movie on the awesome Captivate screen but I'm unsure of where to find any. Does anyone know if there are online (legal) sources where I can purchase/rent & download a movie or TV show? Does Amazon movies work on the Captivate?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I've yet to run into a format our phones can't use (I hear there are SOME issues with 1080p mkv). As long as it's capable of supporting the license files if something is DRM locked, it should open in the video player.

Well to anyone who wants to know... I find if i pick iPhone and then change the screen resolution to match the 480 x 800 pixels (depends on the movie ratio) - that i get a slightly smaller file size then doing generic. I also found MP4 smaller then MKV.

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD then AutoGK to convert it to xvid. Transfer the movies to my SD and it plays perfectly. I also have Rock Player instead of the stock media player. Doing a comparison between the two there is a slight improvement on the quality using Rock Player.
Hi Guys & gals.
Since VLC player has already been ported to iPhone 4, & the sources available for anyone to comile it for any other platform of his/her choice, what's stopping someone from porting it?
Advantages:
- dont bother about conversion, can play all.
- many others that are not apperent to me as of now .
The source code page - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-sources.html
I know this thread doesn't belong in this forum, will be tossed to the appropriate one at appropriate time by appropriate people & I welcome it.

VLC uses software decoding/rendering to display movies. This sucks. Bad.
mVideoPlayer uses the on device codecs, which use the on device GPU to decode/render movies. This is way, way better.
So yeah, VLC can be ported, but I doubt anybody will put in the kind of insane work required when mVideoPlayer is available - with mVideoPlayer on an SGS being the best (by far) video solution for any mobile device available.

To be honest vlc suks big time even on windows. You can download many-many players that look better, work faster, have more options, play same amount of file types and do it faster.
Window media player classic is a good one. Search for CCCP on Google. I only use VLC for region locked DVDs.
VPlayer is good enough?

mVideoPlayer does NOT play all formats, like .rm (Real Media Codec) which VLC does.
