I am thinkings of upgrading to the O2 Stellar as I can buy a THB Car kit Cradle that is compatable with my current car system. Unfortunately I have been told by THB that although the car cradle is not Blue tooth, it still provides power to the Stellar, and will mute the radio sending phone calls to the car speakers during calls. However when I use TomTom (Which I want to load onto the Stallar for Work) the sound will not come out via the car speakers or the stellars own speaker due to so kind of software issue. I would prefer the TomTom sound to come out of the internal speaker. Does anyone know how I can get around this problem and why it is happening

Nah, not enough power. You need your car stereo as an amplifier. Alternatively, you can buy car amlifiers which are only amplifiers, but then make sure you don't end up buying a so-called 'booster', because it is meant to amplify a signal which is already at speaker level even further, for those that have sacrificed all space in their trunks for sub-sub-sub woofers and other tools for terrorizing their fellow humans.
You could try a £10 maplin cassette adapter, http://www.maplin.co.uk spliced onto a o2 xda headphone cable. You can use the nokia adapter version straight from the box, as the connector is the same size, but it is mono. Hence why I adapted a spare xda headset instead, as I thought the button on the mic pod might be useful, not to mention portable between different cars.
However, I have had problems with "transmit" noise using this "lash up" method. So its not perfect, but to be honest if you want music playback or tom tom navigator audio output its excellent.
Does anyone know if the external amp/back input of a hifi would stop the reception of the transmission noise during a call/gprs exchange. I'm using an old crappy car stereo without a seperate input, and the car is probably worth less than the xda as well! hence the cassette adapter method. :wink:

It's a O2 Carkit with 2 outgoing speaker cables.
If i connect it directly to the cables that are coming from my car radio, will that work or will it blow up my xda.

it works through a standard nokia car radio relay kit
it works through the nokia car radio kit that was already in my car with my nokia phone, I simply plugged the radio relay kit intop the speaker socket of the O2 car kit and joined the yellow mute wires together.
Help please!! My work have just kindly installed a intergrated bluetooth car kit for me. Its actually for my work phone a Nokia 6300. I am able to use the bluetooth to pair with my Kaiser and have voice conversations. Can I use it to listen to music though my Kaiser (actually a T-Mob Vario 3). The car kit must be connected to the car stereo because this cuts out automatically when I receive a call. I want to be able to use the car kit to allow me to listen to music from Media Player.
There is an app called BT toggle that routes all audio from the device to a bluetooth headset/speaker so It may be worth giving that a go..although SQ will be no wehere near as good as the built in stereo in the vehicle.
What car kit have the installed for you?

Yes it is a THB Bury Car kit with the cradlefor the Nokia 6300 with intergrated bluetooth sitting on top of it. I dont really want to buy the Kaiser Kit. Just stream music via the bluetooth cradle. Tried the BT Toggle app that c.b sugested but cant seem to get that to work. It just seems to make the music thats playing go quiet on the phone but it doesnt then come out of the cars speakers. Any ideas anyone?
Hi, I have purchased a THB Bury cradle for my cars existing phone system. the TyTN II works but gets bad feedback to the person i am talking too. If i switch the cradle to my old crappy nokia it works with no interference. Also the TomTom program wont go through the car radio like the phone when connected to the cradle. Has anyone else fixed these issues?

I'm wanting to use my Diamond in the car to replace both my old iPod and sat-nav, while still having phone functions available. There are a few things I'm not happy with, so I thought I see what other people are doing.
I have a car head unit with a direct 3.5mm line-in, which used to have the iPod on the end. The Diamond works fine plugged into this through an ebay 3.5mm\USB adaptor.
If I plug the 12v>USB charger in, I get a whine over the audio - not a big problem, it's just a ground-loop, so I'll stick an isolating transformer in-line.
The main problem I have is switching between the internal speaker and the external output. If I want to have the radio on, rather than MP3, I have to unplug the adaptor, and plug the charging cable in direct, so that I can keep the battery charged - not ideal. This way I can hear the TomTom voices through the internal speaker, but it seems wrong to have to swap leads this way.
The other main problem is if I have MP3 and TomTom all through the stereo, and I get a call, I can hear the call over the stereo, but can't speak, as the Diamond is expecting an external microphone.
I guess what I need is a utility to force only the internal microphone to be used, and to allow me to force the internal speaker when I want to use the radio. It there such a thing?
I think one of these car holders has an option to plug in charger and usb-3.5mm jack adapter at the same time....

If i had the skills i'd try to figure out a hack to pause/mute the mp3 and mute satnav when in a call... but I don't.
That's not the problem - I can plug in the charger and 3.5mm audio at the some time, but that redirects all the audio to the car stereo, and disconnects the mic. Removing the adaptor and plugging in just the charger enables the microphone, but all my MP3s then are played through the internal speaker.
What I need is a utility to force the internal microphone to be used _all_ the time, and let me choose when to use the internal speaker when a headset is detected.
I don't suppose anyone knows how the Diamond recognises a headset? Is there a resistor link across a couple of the pins in the 11pin connnector? I'm just thinking I could make up a cable with a switch to break that contact, and 'virtually' disconnect the headset when I want the radio, or need the microphone active during a call.
You could try this program. It seems to be a virtual switch between the earpiece and external speaker. I use it a a solution for skype and other voip programs that only work through the external speaker, but the works the other way as well.

I have the same issue of kaisee.
I use the diamond as mp3 player in my car stereo (aux-in) and i need the mic allways available to use the phone without disconect the usb or audio plug.
In my old magician this worked just fine becouse the mic was allways available.
Is the .exe posted by dctech the answer(thanks man) ? has anybody tested ? is it reliable or there is another solution?

You need a proper bluetooth car kit to allow this. Parrot ones are very good. If you want to listen to music as well as phone calls and sat nav i would suggest that you get one with both handset and A2DP bluetooth profiles. There is a workaround app you can use to get music through a car kit with just a handset or headset profile but the quality is mono and very poor

I have just today had a handsfree wired car kit installed and when I plug in my Stellar (TyTnII) it mutes all the phones tones, so basically when tomtom is switched on it only runs silent.
Is there a way to force the XDA to use the speaker for tomtom as normal and only route calls and everything else thru the car stereo?
Hope you can help it seems a waste to have to buy tomtom again and have yet enother unit on my dashboard!!!
