Uninstalling/Removing preset applications? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

How do I uninstall/remove som of the preset application wich came with the Diamond? Because many of them I don't need, like:
Bubble Breaker, Excel Mobile, FastGPS, and RSS Hub.
I can only use ActiveSync to uninstall the programs I've allready installed myself.
So how do I do this? And is it a bad idea? Maybe removing some applications will cause something not to work properly? Please state as much info as you possibly can.

Anyone..??

uhm .. read first about flashing new roms (guides and how-to you can find in the ROM sub-section) and then pick that ROM that suites your needs

What does Album_EnableStreaming.cab do?

I have this cab and I'm not sure what it does or if I need it on my pda2k after the 1.40 rom upgrade.
I also have pp2arm.cab. Any thoughts here?
Lastly, is there a way to play Shoutcast (music streaming) on my pda2k? If so, how. I connected to my wifi, went to shoutcast.com, and tried to play a stream but couldn't. I'm not sure if this is something that is possible.
Thanks,
Tom

If you dont know what a cab does then open it, have a look at it, check the reg settings that it gives you.
For this you need Wincab manager, other applications are around as well and you will find them on wiki, in the kitchen under kitchen tools.
The other option is on wiki (were else) have a look at the avliable roms, in the ERK_XXX you will find a link to a doc of that rom and what the cabs do (it has screen shots of wincab maneger and the exported reg entries). For most of the roms that is, the cook got bored of the work and got sloppy. Dont ask me which cooked version it was, its been a long time.
Album_EnableStreaming.cab seems to date back a while:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ERK_X_106117
But, since the keys it creates are not created on their own in the new 1.40.xxx Extended roms, perhaps it does indeed still have some use.

Uninstall useless HTC Applications

Hello, I have some programms on my TyTn II that I cannot use at all and I would like to now if it's posible to totally remove them (registry keys included).
Here is the list of the HTC applications I don't use at all:
Voice Command
Streaming Media
scan visit card
And another question: It is possible to change the looks of the scroll bar in all programms like the one from the Spb Pocket Plus Home Plugin.
It seems like you'd be interested in cooking your own ROM. Start with the Kaiser Upgrading forum with the Kaiser ROM Kitchen sticked at top, or just follow the links in my sig
I'd like to do it without cooking a rom if it's possible^^
A trick I discovered by accident (with QuickGPS) is that if you install another version of an app, the app in question then appears in the Remove Programs list and you can completely remove it.
If you can find CABs for the things you want to remove you may be able to deinstall them after "reinstalling" them from the CAB.
It only appears in the list because of the installation you did. When you remove them, the ROM versions will still be there chewing up space even if you can't run them any more.
The only way to remove something from a ROM is to replace the ROM with a version that doesn't contain the app in question.

Clean lite rom

Since nobody wants to cook a clean 'lite' official rom without all the excess baggage that all rom makers simply love to include... my only option is to choose a rom which is as close as possible to a lite official rom
which of these cooked roms is the cleanest of them all?
One which has as many nonsense official programs removed and as little other useless programs added
btw, i consider programs like batti a useless program becos i'm using o2 plus which has a nicer battery display meter and comes with a better task mgr... you guys should try it

Hi, just tell me what you want to remove in the LITE part of my LITEHEAVY ROM, and I will go in that direction!
We need a real clean ROM, only or near windows mobile 6.1.
I don't need Internet Explorer 6, TouchFlo, Office, Album, Manila Arcsoft_MMS_WVGA, MP3Trimmer, VoiceRecorder, VideoTelephony JBlendJava_WVGA, StreamingMedia, PictureEnhancement, SocialNetworksEngine, ZIP
I want to have the oportunity to install everything from cabs or use 3rd party software

At first, i wanna thank pzucchel for his great work on his rom's!
I think the way to make clean rom's and let the user install what he needs is the totally right way, but i wouldn't go that far and remove anything. IMHO removing office or even TouchFlo will be too much - i don't know if its possible to make cabs of them to install this programs or ui later...
But, as i say above, it's the totally right way, cleaning the rom and let the user install what he wants!
I think that most of htc top bar enhancement are useless, for me. I always turn off "enlarge start menu", "htc task manager" and "LargeTitleBar".
i've saw pzucchel's rom and i think it is far too complicated for a very simple concept
all i want is a rom as takhs has said, with everything stripped off and given as a .cab package
this is similar to what christonge has done with the touch diamond...
with such a lite rom, there will no longer be any need for anymore rom builders because we can install the lite rom and 'cook' our own roms by choosing what we wish installed and what not

I think a super clean ROM would be great, too. I always want little apps like MP3 Trimmer and the Office apps but I NEVER use them!

i better understand. If you make the ULTIMATE list of applications to remove, i can compile a ROM for you. I doubt, however, that you will be happy. Sometimes, to find the RIGHT cab (all available cabs for standard built-in applications are hacks/patches that could have little issues) is very difficult, and you'll start installing incompatible cabs. But if YOU manage it, and you make the exact and final list of applications to remove, i can make the ultra-lite version of my ROM. By the way, these are probably 10 clicks removing folders that you could also do on the preparred kitchen which i put on the thread of my ROM. BTW, i do understand your need but i am not fully sure it is the solution.
All the best!

Absolutely correct - this is as LITE as it could. BTW, all really WHITE ROMs, at the end, will be identical and dependent only on the core build of WM.
BlackDragon, how MUCH you gain in responsiveness by removing apps like youtube? i always thought that the apps not installing services, autostart etc.etc. would not affect the performances...or not?

What girl's want (Make a rom request here)

Ok, I see a lot of customisation done here, so I think it's time to make a rom based on user requests. Of course, please don't ask for headset, BT, SD, wifi, this will of course be added when found.
Just post what kind of rom you would like, and we will try to find a list of good programs to include.
Criteria are: small programs, specially usefull, and (possibly) free to use in a rom.
Adding as much as possible in a rom is counter productive, as it grabs more storage space than installing the cab afterward.
My guess is that programs should be in the following categories:
GPS aid tools
Phone aid tools
Today plugin tools
Memory and system managment tools
Core functionality
Default settings
The following post will compile what has been selected. Rom will be created when enough input is aquired. Requests can be done for removal also (like games for example)
now fire your requests
----Reserved--------
To me it is sufficient that there was an application that gives me the opportunity to do everything with your fingers. Without using the scrollbar. As in Mr gullum ROM. Thanks for this opportunity to express your wishes.

ClearTemp v1.2 (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/cleartemp.shtml)
would like....
i would like one that has only the phone, text messages, touchflo (if possible) and GPS, for everything else we have the Vista side like office, messenger and any other app we could possibly want.
botton line the less you put in it the faster it will be and still leave room to install any other app an specific user may want.
just my 2 cents.
BTW great work we are all very thankfull for all your hard work and that goes to cmonex and the rest of your team.
thanks
Call firewall and what you have listed chat of some type (I use yahoo)
i would love to have a ROM based on MANILA or POINT UI or throttle launcher.
i know that there is not much space. but it can be done ( for some resone it works slow..)
please, im willing to donate ( again!!) to the one that will creat that kind of ROM. ( no need for SnupVue...or Office..
10x!
Your current rom is almost perfect. Everybody can install the programs they want. Only I would like have speaker phone forced on like iOO did in his rom and those three themes can be replaced with just one black snapvue theme. And also it should be possible to soft reset from wm side so you dont have to start vista to do that.
Less is more
Actually I would like to see more stripped out all non-essential files/ anything to make more room for programs and data!
I see you put the HTC tools in there, but with the exception of USBTool,RealVGA and cab install support - I wonder how many times I will fire up GPS Debugging...
There maybe some housecleaning opportunities in the Windows Directory (temp files and other such....)
A good screen rotation utility would be nice - I use Mobipocket for WM for reading ebooks and it also has the nice side effect of rotating the WinMo display (if you rotate the display within MobiPocket it keeps the WinMo display rotated after you exit the reader) *** side note to ask MobiPocket to enable rotation in the desktop version of their tool (funny that they didn't think to put it in there - if enough people harangue them from this forum maybe?) - which I also have running on the Vista side and it sets my teeth on edge to know that i can't rotate the display...grrr.... ****
So I am ok on the screen rotation - but maybe others dont want to install Mobipocket........
Anything that would help battery life -- power miser settings set as default in most things that you might otherwise have to configure --
Lean and mean........
thanks for the current state - which rocks!
Shame on HTC for crippling such a neat device.
regards
Sudipta
I'm registering all requests and also lean on to a clean rom.
lean for me too
first, thanks to all the ROM cooks. i have tried almost all of them and am now using thaihugo's latest. i haven't had this much fun configuring and reconfiguring a machine since installing Slackware 1.1 in 1994.
what a sad loser, i am. well, insomniac anyway.
i'd like a really lean ROM because i like to install my own selection of stuff: pocketxpdf, tcpmp. quickmenu, putty. i don't even need Activesync or the built in e-mail client and calendar. for me, it would be great if anything that i could easily install myself was left out.
Is it possible to include 800X480 resolution driver to fully utilize the screen. Thank you very much!
I've followed your requests here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=495143
wow, fast.. Maybe a easy way, to customize your ROM with standard European language packs.
(french, italia, german, spain,..
I Would prefer a ROM BASE on WinMo 6.1 as UDK's rom was cause it worked fine with haret.
I Woud like a complete Rom With:
- GPS Fix
- QuickGPS
- Phonestuff enabled
- Google Maps (if you have it working with GPS)
- Opera
- TouchFlo (if possible =)
Apps: (prefered as cabs to install them when needed)
- IM Slick
- Mobile Office
- Total Commander
- Finger Keyboard (If it will will work)
- GoogleMaps
- Adobe Reader
I liked your roms but they wont work with haret.
So hopefully will work in future !

SnapVue Cab
What I really want (and have no clue how to do) is the SnapVue as a today plugin cab.
Love your Light ROM (it is my current one). However, I love SnapVue as a concept also. Some things to think about/fix (?):
-The clock allows you to open it to the alarms and Time Zones (I am using a plug in similar to the SnapVue Clock/Calender)
-The "Settings" button is remapped to programs OR opens a shortcut tab for key programs (customisable)
-The Plugin does not "steal" all the real estate. Currently it covers the scroll bar so you can not add other plugin above or below it. This is very irritating (particularly for me who has several plugins).
Currently, I can only get SnapVue (with other ROMS) to work with other plug-ins if I use RealVGA. However, using RealVGA then stops my spb Travel Assistant working (don't understand why).
Food for thought
Cheers
even lighter if possible!
I am using Age of Reason, and it is fantastic - I now even have space to store a bit of my own audio and video. I have also just installed the new YouTube WM application from m.youtube.com which works but has very jerky motion.
I am using TCPMP, so have no use for WMP. I also do not use ActiveSync, so if that was optional, it would save me some space (as well as having to kill it from time to time).
I still think that any item that is available in a simple CAB install might as well be left out, unless it takes up less space by burning it into the ROM.
Thanks again for all your efforts.

Actually, removing this component will make you lose memory, so it's better to keep them. Don't ask me why, but it is this way. WMP and activesync are system components...
Need i say more? Thanks for this great ROM! Age of reason is on my shift and it works great!

HELP ME!! HTC Diamond Phone

Hi guys, i know there are similiar threads out there, but i cannot find a good guide to my question. Please help me out here.
I just got my HTC Diamond yesterday, and had lots, i mean LOTS of difficulty using it.. It too cheem. Haha, so will appreciate any help.
I think it's best to give u my phone infos:
ROM Version : 2.03.707.2 WWE
Speed 528Mhz
Ram size: 192Mb
Windows 6.1
(Need any more info, please ask me.)
Firstly, how do i change the Clock, time format to 12hr, instead of the 24hr clock.
Secondly, How can i turn off GPRS, so i won't have to pay extras in my bills.
Thirdly, SMS is quite difficult, what's the best way to use it with a hand and no stylus.
Fourthly, Is it posible to upgrade the version to 6.5?
Fifth, i saw something abt tweaking, how do i do that? And the only way to lock my phone is the power button is it??
Additional Questions:
There's another question. For example my old contact naming Wei Ming, when transfer to HTC, it change to Ming Wei, HOW TO SOLVE?? This is very important too.
Lastly, when i use MSN, then it import all e emails in my contacts, making it very messy, what can i do?
Please advise how to make my phone to become as user friendly as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Ok first things first yes you can upgrade to 6.5 although it is not officially released you can install it.
there are programs that you would want to install to help you do most of these things. take a look at these 2 threads for programs to help you achieve what you are trying to do.
Themes, Applications and Software <---Diamond sections / Development and Hacking <----General sections
look at Icontact for you contact issue
look for TF3D to configure the themes / wallpaper / and other items in Touch flow.
Any links u can give me to let me dl 6.5?

hi and welcome to XDA
make sure you read this and understand it before you do anything or you might break your diamond
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
Hey guys, i really encounter alot problem with it. There are many error reprting that make me send same report over n over again.
Then i could not use advance config, after i install, when i launch it, there a error report.
I cannot sync my contacts with the computer too.
Can anyone help me out quick?
Hi,
A way to disable GPRS is an app called NoData MoDaCo. Search the forum for it.
Also If you look in the settings there is a way to disable error reporting .
You have quite the laundry list of questions/issues. However all of them have been asked/answered in various threads around the Diamond (and other) forums. Please use the custom Google search as it is much more reliable then the default vBulletin search engine.
Thank you,
NATF
