Hey all. Since i did a restore on my device the other day i cant send or receive or even type sms messages. Ive tried pocket outlook and i can see my hotmail and outlook accounts but the SMS one is gone. When i click a contact and click send MMS it says unable to launch MMS Inbox. Make sure its not in use and try again. Also i tried setting flexmail to default for sms and when i click a contact to send a message flexmail opens but doesnt go to anything that will allow me to type out the message. Ive tried texting my mobile from another number but nothing comes up on the tytn but the screen lights up like its recieve something. Im guessing the pocket outlook mail app is broken or something isnt right. Any ideas?
ok ive found if i clear storage it restores this, when i reapply the backup it does it again. I think the backup must not be restoring something.
ok more info. it appears the pmail folders are not being restored. is there any way to repair them/it?
Ok solution found. It appears that when backups are restored the email and sms database files have some kind of conflict. So by performing a selected file restore using resco backup and not choosing email/sms restore it sorted it. But i lost all my old texts and emails. No biggie though.

Note: the following commentary relates to PPC 2003 SE. These instructions may work with other devices. Use at your own risk.
I ran into the problem of restoring with ActiveSync, and not being able to restore the databases that store SMS and other mail messages (eg. pMailFolders). Basically, SMS/Email and some MMS programs use a combination of the PPC Databases, and files in the \Windows\Messaging folder to operate. An inconsistency between these files, and records in the database can lead to the problems described in this thread.
There's detailed information about the structure of the Database Files with regard to messaging available here: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=231&more=1
Firstly, if the problem that I experienced arises, an option might be to use the SKTools program, or another task manager, to kill any processes that may be holding a lock on the messaging database. Once this is done, the retry option can be chosen (in ActiveSync) to attempt re-copying the database files (eg. pMailFolders).
If this fails, then an option that restores the existing setup ( but unfortunately losing any existing messages) is to do the following:
1) Delete all files in \Windows\Messaging, and the \Windows\Messaging\Attachments folders
2) Copy a Database Explorer program onto the PPC. (eg. eXEden Database Explorer at http://www.sweb.cz/eXEden/CeDbExplorer.htm)
3) Using the database explorer, delete all databases starting with "fldr" (eg. fldr200319e). These are the databases in which each folder's message details are stored (eg. "Text Messages/Deleted Items", or "Pocket Outlook/Inbox")
4) Now delete all databases starting with "pmail" (eg. pmailAttachs, pmailFolders). These are the "header" files, which bind all the folders together.
Once this is done, if you open up Pocket Outlook (poutlook.exe), aka Messaging (the default PPC mail program), you should see just the Outlook E-Mail, and (for phone editions) Text Messages. There'll be no messages in any folder. Perform a test by composing, sending, and deleting a message. Ensure that the message can actually be deleted.
Now, I've got an Xda IIs, which also came with the MMS program Arcsoft MMS. This is now missing. To reinstall it, download the file Default_ArcsoftMMS-2.0.0.22-AG-ENU.CAB from ftp://xda:[email protected]
Once downloaded, just reinstall it (or the appropriate original installation CAB for your MMS program, if applicalble), reconfigure your network settings using the AutoConfig program (start->Programs->AutoConfig-> choose your network, then choose OK), and Bob's your Uncle [you're done].
I provide this information here as I've many a time found the posts of others extremely useful, and I'm grateful to this forum and its contributors. I hope I could help you!

As I have been sifting through the forum I have come across several threads about people wanting to know how to get rid of outlook e-mail from messages.
The e-mail I have set up on my kaiser is the same as my outlook on my pc, so when I sync I get duplicate e-mails and have to disable the option to sync mail with pc, but this still leaves the outlook account in messages.
Well here's how to get rid of it.
First you will need a registry editor, I recommend Resco Registry editor but others will work fine.
Then you will need to make a backup of the registry key we are going to delete. So open up your registry editor and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc
Now in here you will find several folders(so to speak). These include Activesync, imap4, pop3, MMS1 and SMS.
Go into Activesync and their should be a key called "Friendly Name" this should say something like "Outlook" go back to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc then select the "Activesync" folder and use menu to export the folder as a .reg file (backup file) then select the "Activesync" folder again, but this time delete it.
Now close your reg editor and go into messages and the Outlook title should be replaced with the title Activesync. Just soft-reset your device and the Outlook mailbox including "Activesync" has now disappeared leaving just the e-mail accounts and other message accounts that you use whilst mobile.
Should you wish to restore this option just inport the .reg file you created into the registry and soft-reset and it'll be back.
Well I hope this helps. And quick thanks to all members of this forum for your continued support to the community and even helping the little guys.

Thanks! Great solution!
EDIT: Wiped out my outgoing MMS. Dropped registry backup back in and both MMS and Outlook Mail were back.

Why do you have duplicate emails? With an exchange server, your emails on device and in your pc's outlook will replicate - and without exchange they sync anyway?
What's the settings for MMS1? I don't have that in my registry.

Each of these folders represent an account within messages. So "Activesync" is "outlook" (used and updated when syncing with a pc version of outlook or using an exchange server), IMAP4 Corresponds to my (@btinternet.com/using imap), SMS is for SMS (go figure/lol), MMS1 (this can also just be MMS on some device/dependant on version of Arcsoft) POP is for my (@3mail) account and Hotmail is for hotmail (in juction with using Windows live).
So by deleting the "activesync" folder you are in effect deleting the information to display the account.
Also I deleted the imap4 folder (after making a backup of course of the reg entry) And soft-reset the device. It removed my @btinternet account with e-mails. But after i imported the .reg backup I made and soft-reset the device again the account returned with all e-mails intact and fully readable.
**Possibility for a freeware app to hide accounts that are private??? using a password to auto add/remore .reg to access accounts or maybe not. **
Thanks trying to bring something to those who have helped me... Thanks

Hi unwired, The reason I get duplicates is because I don't actually use an exchange server. I have my @btinternet.com account set up on both my home Supreme Pc, My laptop and my Kaiser. But when I used to cradle my kaiser with my pc (mainly for appointments) to update it used to download my e-mails from outlook on my pc to my kaiser. So in the outlook account on my kaiser would be all the e-mails from my pc version of outlook, then in my @btinternet.com account were the same e-mails that I collected whilst I was mobile.
So I needed access to my @btinternet account whilst mobile but in the outlook folder that wqould not let me sync so then i had to set up the other.
So i stopped it syncing with outlook messages on the pc and then decided to try and get rid of the outlook account, which is what i then proceeded to do!
Ok i am going to stop now before i start going round in circles..
But thanks for the question..

Your welcome mate. To be honest I think it was your comment about it I came accross the other day on the forum, which is one of the reasons I decided to post it. I'll try and help more if I can. I've just setup talking dial tones. so when I dial a number it says the number rather than beep. Thanks to grumps for the tones!! I think he's compiling an app to do this easier. But i couldn't wait and so set it up via the registry...
Oh www.htcclassaction.org reports we could have proper display drivers by the end of march!! So fingers crossed our Kaiser will fullfil their legacy!!

I don't have that registry file (obviously). I have the Shogun's Palm SMS threading program installed and lost my MMS'. The fix to install the Arcsoft composer and run an enablemms.cab never worked for me. I wonder if this is what it's trying to fix.

Yeah, sounds like it. If you post that .cab here. I'll take a look for you mate and see what I can come up with over the next week. Failing that I can take my .reg setting for the mms and possibly create a link to the default messaging app.
However my best mate has an o2 xda orbit and I installed WM6 on it but there is no 6.1 yet and he wanted threaded sms. So i installed Shogun's Palm sms. Now when he opens that app he does not have mms, however when I linked to the default messaging app that still contained his mms account and all the mms I sent him were waiting there for him.
So try this out and if you need my help just ask. You can PM me for my e-mail address if you want to send the .cab direct or ask for any other help. I am at work tomorrow(or should I say today) and am on a sleep over so i will check my pm but it'll be from my Kaiser.
Hope I could help..

I have used a .cab analyser on the enablemms.cab and it contains no registry entries at all (none will be added or removed(except for unistall info and platform.reg which I believe is more to do with os at a guess))
and contains these files:
CeSetup.dll in the \Program Files\Tools Folder
checkfile.exe in the windows folder
Platformxxx.reg in the windows folder
CM_Entries.xml in the windows folder
And
Customize.lst in the \Program Files\Tools folder
Let me know how you get on..

hi there again...
the trick works great, but I think, that I have a small problem in here.
after applying Your trick on my stock t-mob uk vario III everything went fine except loosing sound for new sms. even if I have ticked in my options to play sound and show message I can't hear or see any notification. only sign of new message is number of new messages in the middle of htc home plugin.
now.. I made a backup of that key before deletion, but...
I've deleted it.. '(-_-)
any chance for You to post that .reg file for me mate?? or if You have some other solution, then I would be more than happy to avoid hard reset.

No worries mate, I still have sound on my sms notifications although I did have to deselect play sound in sound and notifications and reset then re-select the play sound option. And it worked for me but I have a stock htc tytn II. I am at work on my kaiser at the moment and the browser won't let me add an attachment, so when I get my laptop out at 6 i'll post the .reg entry. Fancy deleting it !! lol.. Check back around 6.30. It'll def be on tonight pal..

Thanks for the update diigibio. I appreciate any help. How did you link your friend's phone to the default MMS messaging app? Or would it help if I tried to reapply registry settings?

The default messaging application remains untouched, especially when installing third party replacements such as SMS threading (IMSMS, Palm, Textr and so on). The default link goes to \Windows\tmail.exe.
The quickest way to do this is by using Resco File Manager. click on the tmail.exe and hold until (right-click) menu appears and click "send to" then choose "Start Menu as Shortcut".
Once this is done you can access it via the start menu or use the button app to map it to a button or use with a today screen plugin (spb etc) As when you install the third party app it either replaces the original shortcut with its own or alters the original link to point to the third party app.
Hope this is of some help...

Thanks! worked great for me on WM 6.1 I didn't see the active sync option before the restart either.
Hi, there,
Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.
i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.
I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).
i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?
Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.
any fix would be appreciated.
Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?
i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)
I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.
I just did a quick search for error 86000107 and a few people solve the problem by doing this:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.
Hope this helps.
ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...
anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.
shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.
You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)

why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.

Not my fix mate.
Have to ask taiseer.
Dave
I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...
How I resolved the 86000107 code error
I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.
BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.
Hope this helps!
sadkosk/safe as milk:
cheers. shall try.
have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.
I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Interesting...
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:
1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).
NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!
Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...
Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.
Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.
If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool
If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe
Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.
Notes
If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.
I think is wm6.1 not fully compatible on now WMDC or AS.
Try many wm6.1 here.
Similar problem on Vista WMDC, after u sync with 2nd computer, than sync back on 1st computer, it say error on sync.
After I del 2 partnership on both computer, no any problem on both PC sync independently.
eagle 1:
i suspect what you said is correct.
i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.
so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.
many thanks for the tip.
sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).
guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?

Just flashed the new dutty from old 6.1 and restored my messages with Sprite Backup. Only problem is now I have 6 unread email messages in accounts that are not setup on the phone. I can not create the accounts due to "The account name entered is already assigned to another account." messages when I try to make them, and they do not appear in the list of accounts in Messaging. Any way I can fix this by deleting the registry entries or whatever is telling the phone that the accounts exist? Home keeps telling me I have 6 new emails.
this might help
http://www.etenblog.com/2008/02/14/recover-lost-email-accounts/
Nuclear option
For people who are annoyed by the phantom accounts that can appear after restoring from a backup like Sprite backup there is always the nuclear option. I was wondering where all the extra Hotmail accounts were coming from on my Manila2d Mail tab. After reading this and other threads I discovered that they would have come back courtesy of the cemail.vol file from a backup. I couldn't get the mail repair application to restore the phantom accounts and the little application at the Sprite website didn't seem to work either.
Here's the strategy that worked for me:
1. Do a full backup of your phone with Spriteback up except for the mail ie make sure the top level mail checkbox is unchecked.
2. Do a backup (using PIMBackup or similar) of just your SMS messages.
3. Hard reset your phone.
4. Restore from the backup in step 1 and your phone should be restored but with no email accounts.
5. Restore your SMS from the backup in step 2. If you had threaded SMS enabled on your phone you will need to kill tmail.exe and disable threading before the restore. After the restore kill tmail.exe and re-enable. If you don't do this it messes up the inbox completely.
6. Manually set up your email accounts again.
It's a bit of a bore to do all this and not a particularly nice solution but it does work.
Cheers,
Ashley

Hi,
Whenever I delete any message from the TF3D screen using the right soft key options Menu>Delete, it gets deleted permanently from the device(does not show up even in the "Deleted Items" of the Messaging Folders. Although it asks for the confirmation first, but wouldn't it have been better if the message went into the deleted items folder first?(just the way it happens in Messaging)
Any way to make TF3D Delete option behave like the delete option of the Messaging application?
Thanks.
I have noticed the same on my phone, but didn't realise it was related to deleting via TF3D. Have you found a solution yet?
No...no solutions yet.
Still no solutions to this, as this is driving me mad.
I like to keep my Inbox 'clean' and sometimes delete to quickly but go to deleted items to recover the message. This doesn't happen anymore, so once it's gone, it's gone.
Anyone know of a tweak?
I solved this by changing my active sync settings...I made it so reconcillation did not keep changes on my phone...only allows deleion on my computer microsoft server owA account
Is this the same for SMS, as this is what I'm referring to. Apologies for not be clear first time around.
go into advance config and under the MESSAGING tab, make sure "Max deleted SMS" is not set to 0. If it is, everything you delete will be deleted permanently and will not be in the deleted items box. It's funny because I hate having to empty out the deleted items box everytime i delete a text...i want it to be gone immediately.
For emails if you go to Tools - Options - Storage tab just change the 'Empty deleted items' to 'manually' then I presume you should be able to do it from your PC.
If that doesn't work on its own then also add 'deleted items' as a sync folder (menu - Tools - Manage Folders) so then should definitely work...
Hi,
I am using Jeyo Mobile Extender http://www.jeyo.com/extender.asp to write SMS with my Diamond if I am working with my PC.
The Diamond is connected with Activ Sync via Bluetooth. Everything works good, the only Problem is if I get a new SMS it is not automatically synchronized with Outlook. I have to press the "Sent/Recive" Button everytime. Than all new SMS are synchronized with outlook without any problem.
If I am writing a SMS with outlook there i no problem the sms is automatically sent to the pda.
Is there any possibility to acitivate the automaticall synchronization if I get a new SMS?
Thanks for your help guys...
If you go to the Options menu for Jeyo ME, there should be something called 'Send/Receive SMS messages on connecting'. That should do it.

As my software is working 'correctly' the dates are all current. Check your file and see what the dates are. I believe changes the dates manually to a more recent date can resolve such issue. Sorry but I can't remember the exact procedure.
Failing this, you could just trying to uninstalling the program and in doing so also remove the C:\Program Files\Jeyo folder, restart the PC and then reinstall.
Had the same problem while running the trial... So I went to Jeyo Mobile Companion Instead, same features and tons more, but not integrated to outlook...
IMO, better than JME
