Rom Upgrade Ota Activesync Problems - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

A bit of help please guys. Ever since i flashed a new rom on my MDA, my OTA ActiveSync with my exchange account has stopped working. It keeps saying there's an address or proxy server problem. There isn't a problem with the details i've entered as i've tried both ways, auto detection and manual entry. I've now tried 3 different ROMs, firstly the TLR's, then SwiftBL and finally Dutty's. All work fantasticly better than the original T-Mobile ROM barring this one problem. I don't want to go back to that one, but if i have to, to get the Sync working again, I'll be miffed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ideas anyone??

rolling back to original T-Mo US ROM?

I'm having some problems with the new k-jam ROM on my US MDA (see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43369), and am considering just going back to the original. I thought I had backed it up first, but apparently I didn't.
Can someone provide instructions on how to do so? I've found the original ROM from another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41348) but the links to the extended ROM don't seem to work anymore.
It appears I need both parts, and instructions on how to get them on there.
Many thanks...
Its definitely an activeSync problem.
I have this ROM on my US T-Mobile MDA and AS works properly over both USB and Bluetooth.
Make sure your ActiveSync is V4.1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled AS 4.1 multiple times, with no success. During the install process there is a period where it's "updating USB drivers," but it doesn't seem to help.
Turns out it does work, just not on Virtual PC. Though with the previous ROM, it worked fine.

No ActiveSync after 2.16.9.x

Please help. I flashed 2.16.9.x and now ActiveSync doesn't work anymore, it connects all the time. PDA doesn't show activesync syncronization icon.
I tried to flash another versions of ROM, but it didn't help.
The problem may lie with the PC as opposed to the PDA. Have you tried a remove / re-install of AS4.1 on the PC?

Fair enough, I was just trying to help. Perhaps if you had stated that in your original text I would not have provided such an "Obvious" answer. I will leave it up to others now to take guesses as to what you "might or might not have done"......

Try to make your computer or laptop restore on earlier date then since it started. I had once this problem i don't know but sometimes it with the system files in computer missing then the problem occurs.
Although my ActiveSync works almost fine after the same rom-upgrade, I encounter its strange behaviour sometimes (rear, not always!) - PDA slows down to a crawl right after you disconnect it from a desktop PC (either USB or Bluetooth). It becomes so terribly slow that it takes 20-30 sec to draw the Comm-manager window! then you better soft-reset, then it works just fine. Why am I... to prove that ActiveSync 4.1 is not quite stable with new ROM version 2.16. There is a bug somewhere, and it has to be reported to i-Mate firmware writers.
Have you followed Microsoft rules about configuring firewalls for ActiveSync 4.1? Does it create a network connection 169.254.2.1 on a desktop PC?
Thank you guys, but I guess my case is harder:
1. I have firewall switched off. I didn't change any setting in computer. I just flashed new ROM.
2. I flashed my original ROM, but it didn't help.
3. I tried to sync on several computers and had the same result.
By the way I cannot return to original ipl/spl, I don't know how to do that.
Today I visited repairing service's office and they've prooved me my device is not broken, it synchronizes succesfully via USB on their computer.
So, the problem is related to my computer(s). If I'll find something I report in this thread.
it probably has to do with one of the cabs you installed that are on your original extrom or someone elses. Most people who have had problems after the upgrade on an 8125 (Cingular) have installed cingular cabs from the old rom. I had to to figure out the MMS configuration and after I foundthe one that did my activesync no longer worked. after a reflash and only installing some of the default cabs that came with the new rom and manually configuring the mms and gprs I don't have any problems at all.
well maybe it is the version of activesync we are using when this does happen.
I'm running the ROM that came with the Cingular 8125, and it does the same thing ... 1 in 10 times after disconnecting the device from the PC, the 8125 slows to a crawl, and the only way to recover is a soft-reset. 9 out of 10, it works fine.
OS ROM: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio: 01.09.11
Protocol: 4.0.13.20
not overclocked
soon to be ROM upgraded (hopefully)

I use 4.1 for a long time.
I didn't install anything on my pda. It happens even after hard reset. I even tried to flash original rom. In all cases ActiveSync displays "Connecting...", pda even doesn't display sync icon.
I tried to sync with standalone notebook and it was successfull. I'm really shocked why pda cannot sync with my desktop(s). It seems to me it could happen after some windows unattendant updates or something, I'm still investigating...
I have Qtek 9100 and have installed rom 2.16.9 and i also have activesync 4.1 refusing connection to my pda. After some googling i have found this interesting site: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm
I did cheks described there and found out that activesync doesnt have any network adapters and/or activity. USB driver installs, but it, again, doesnt generate anything. Maybe problem is there?
Ehhh... I even cannot return to any previous rom version, because there is no rapi for updaters to work with
reverting back to original cingular rom
How would you go back to original ROM using Lokiwiz tool if your active sync was working OK?
Thanks,
Each time I have done HARD RESET--I uninstalled active sync from my computer AFTER DELETING PARTNERSHIP. I deleted PC from Active sync on my 8125. I deleted all files on my computer related to active sync using search.
I then reinstalled active sync 4.1, being sure WINDOWS FIREWALL was off. I went thru all the steps with my TREND MICRO VIRUS PERSONAL FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx
and I got it to work (1st install always takes time for calendar)
Hope that helps--it seems ridiculous to have redo all that-but so be it.
I'd like to know how to get back to CINGULAR ROM as I am still in 30 day return window.
Well there is a magical combination of buttons as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386 (somewhere around 2-4 page):
Voice+Camera + Reset. Colored bootloader shows up. After that you can connect it to usb and run .exe with rom you want.
The problem with me is that i dont use any 3rd party firewall (i have hardware router for my connections)
reverting back to original cingular rom
You don't think there would be a problem going DOWN in ROM'S?
Do I need to UNLOCK again first?
I must confess. I did (i think veeery lucky) sucseded in running activesync. Altough what was the cause i cannot say. I reverted to 1.6.7 version of the rom. and reinstall everyting several times. and reboted several time. and i saying loud magical words. (and deleted checkpoint vpn software that i have installed). AND it worked!
Maybe trouble was in vpn soft, but it worked pre 4.1 activesync. So... Here is my experience.

Thank you very much for this link, it helped me to find the reason. It's not new ROM fault. The Microsoft Firewall Client (ISA 2000 component) on desktop blocks communication between PDA and desktop. I disabled it and now ActiveSync works fine.
Thank you again.
Your Are Welcome

There's a checkbox in AS that lets you forward the connection... tried that?
I'm running the molski 2.26 rom and had a mr clean rom before, as well as some factory TMO/I-Mate/Qtek roms. Never had any problem connecting with AS.
Appreciate the help and reply.
Hi, tomasz
Thanxs for pointing that out, in AS, I went to connecting setting and found what you were saying, the section my computer is in automatic setting, but I also tried my computer is connected to internet. Still I get this error in IE when loading a webpage, "The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unkonwn error 0x80072f78".
I wouldn't be so annoy if I didn't have internet in the beginning, but when I first got my 8125. Everything works fine with Mr. Clean and T-Mobile rom, without touching any setting in my comp and the phone, AS works like a charm, internet thur AS work fine without any manual setting.?? I didn't know things can change so much all a sudden? I hope someone out there know exactly what the problem is? thanxs again for the post tomasz, hope you have another solution or someone out there does....
Q9100 half dead!!!
Hi pals..
Listen gotta a big problem with my Qtek 9100.This is it. I've tried to update the pda to spanish so I could sell it to a friend of mine.I've downloaded the 1.3.7.5 version from xda-dev.Everything was working fine but in the middle of the process the power in my house failed. So the process stoped now I got the damn OS in Spanish but it doesnt work because it didnt installed properly.I've tried out everything I new about this pda. That is try to install in bootload mode, the only thing I've managed was update the IPL and SPL (that I dont know what doest that means) for that I've used an Orange ROM,if it would have updated properly it would show up the W2k5 customised by Orange but no,it keeps stuck in the same Qtek welcome star up image.
What and I supposed to do? I heard that I could install it loading it direct from the SD Card but I have to do it by copying an Backup SD card already done once mine OS is damaged. I've already tried the one in Dutch on the XDA ftp web page. But it seems not to be working.
Regards
Luiz Santos
Finally got my internet working thur AS
Okay for anyone that is having problems with Internet working thur Activesync, you can try to go into start, setting, connections, usb to pc and uncheck enable advanced network functionality.
And it work for me, yahooooooooooo....

rom wierdnesses

I've tried multiple roms here and whenever I upgrade from the factory shipped Cingular rom, I lost the ability to login to my personal email account.
Under the cingular rom it works fine. Under any other rom, it tells me it is unable to download messages to my device.
Anyone else had an issue like this? It's driving me crazy.

Cannot sync with exchange server anymore...

Hi,
Been reading the posts and I can't seem to find anything relating to this exactly.
I had finally got outlook to sync with my work server when my admin man gave me a certificate to install on my TyTnII.
It worked a treat and then I decided to flash to HTC shipped ROM (I was on Orange - now unlocked too). It worked OK then too.
So I was brave and decided to give Dutty's ROM a go (Ruu_Signed_Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2_1_65.14.06_CubeV2_). Didn't work after that. Re-installed the HTC ship ROM and it still doesn't work (installed the certificate on PPC OK).
I have un-installed ActiveSynce and deleted the partnership but still no joy.
Has something been written in the registry ??
Thanks
I have duttys non-cube version 19700 version cooked and am having no problems syncing.
I just install my chain/root certificate first, fill out the server name, user name and password. Its worked on every cooked rom i tried (and Ive tried alot).
One little detail though that tricked me up for a bit was that you cannot be hooked up with your usb cable to your pc when you try to sync over the air. When the USB to PC cable is plugged in the phone tries to use the pc to sync with which wont work if its from home.
Find the same issue with using wireless.
Also know that if the company created a self-signed certificate you have to load the root/chain certificate first, but if its a recognized 3rd party certificate (like verisign or digicert) you don't.
Dont expect the autodetect server function to work during the setup unless you have a internet host name set up as autodiscover.domain.com and have a certificate with that name as one of its alternate names. Otherwise just set it up manually.
.
Hard reset and installed the certificate and entered details on the PDA and it says:
Synchronization could not be completed. Tyr again later.
Support code 0x85010013
Haven't connected it to my PC so can't be an active sync/regisry entry..

Do you have acces do the exchange server, you can have luck in the eventlog for a more detaileds
and which Exchange version is it ? 2003/2003sp2/2007sp1?
I can say for sure, its not your activesync, on EX2007 security policies can have a problem be forced on the device. 2003 can have an other problem. I will look for you if i get home.
I have fixed it. But I would like to know why Duttys won't work.
I now have
ROM 3.03.405.0 WWE (date 01/08/08 US)
Radio 1.64.06.04
Protocol Version 25.70.40.02H
Syncs up a treat, but I would like to put Duttys back on. Any ideas or suggestions?
The admin guy said nothing had changed on the server and there were no logs
Sorry man, i totally forgot about you
But I tried a lot of roms, but i had never problems with my syncing same as Tayton. But how did you fix it? Just flash to an orginal Rom?
Sorry about the logs i was not clear enough. The admin can see if somebody is connecting with his device, and then you have some more details for exploring the problem. Most of the time errors from the PDA are to general.
Btw here is a link for more details about the error:
