Not sure if this has been mentioned before but...
After discovering for myself how quiet the sound was on the headphones that came with my diamond i done a small and simple mod (if you can solder) to increase the output.
Take off black rubber ring on ear piece
pull speaker out, i just picked it out with my nail
remove surface mount resistor (small black rectangle thing)
bridge the connections with solder
repeat on other side
Basic stuff with a noticable increase of sound
"Lowering" the resistance should increase the treble tones. Didn't know that's how manufacturers did things.
My HTC headset work fine. I need to keep the volume to minimum.

Hi, i have a lot of problems with the low volume of my htc legend becouse i don't often hear the ring and so i lost calls. there is a fix for increase the ringer volume of incoming calls? thank you
the legend is actually very loud but the speaker section sits flat against the surfaces you put it on causing it to muffle the sound.
the obvious answer is when you put the phone down place it so it does not sit flat. however the other option is to boost the audio track volume on the mp3 that you set as a ringtone
this is an unfortunate oversight of the legend design i got around it by getting a clear plastic foot thingy whith an adhesive backing from my fathers work which i stuck on the back of it which holds it above the surface you might be able to find some small rubber feet on ebay
EDIT: found this these are similar only the ones that im using are about half the size http://www.etsy.com/listing/37328205/60-clear-rubber-feet-adhesive-backed
I usually put the phone with display face the table top, so the speaker is face upward.
Anyway checks the level of your ringtone. I also find Legend has quite loud speakers.

I picked up the LU2, and I must say, I was deeply disappointed. It reduces the sound quality dramatically. Any high pitch noise just comes out as a screech. It doesn't always stay connected. It was just bad.
If anyone was unfortunate enough to buy this, some helpful tips:
If you have a three button headset, grab some electric tape, and keep the middle button pressed down. This will enable the headphones to work, but not the mic. It seems to work fine with one button headphones, including mic. If the music plays out of the loud speaker despite the headphones being plugged in, it usually suffices to just twist the headphones into the adapter. If it still doesn't work, unplug the headphones and replug them.
Despite all that, the thing worked. If you look at the 3.5" plug, it is made of four rings. One ring is the left speaker, one ring is the right speaker, one ring is the mic, and one ring is controls. The Xperia PLAY headphone jack expects the mic and control rings to be the reverse spot, hence the need for the stupid adapter. I've been looking for alternatives, and just picked one up on ebay. I'll see if that fairs any better.

Hi there,
I've had my HO since May and have noted in the past 3-4 months that the in-call volume level was getting less and less.
However I didn't think about it too much, blaming it on me personally as a person who's been having problems with in-call volumes of all my previous HTC phones.
However the problem didn't exist when I first bought the phone.
Just played some music on it:
I still can't hold the lower speaker grill right to my hear as it is just too loud - same as when I had just purchased the phone.
But the upper speaker is a different story - hold it right against it and I can still hear more sound coming from the lower speaker than the upper speaker.
There's no cracking or strange sounds, it just seems clogged up from dust/dried sweat/whatever?!
Tried gently cleaning it with pressured air, didn't do the trick.
Does anybody have another suggestion before I come up with a tooth brush and might damage the speaker inside?
Did some further research on some other boards:
took a dry toothbrush and scrubbed over the speaker a couple of times - like new again!
Does anyone have a loose headphone jack? I just got my V40 the other day and when I went to plug in multiple pairs of headphones, they all slipped in easily without any resistance or noticeable click. It produces audio, however if it is slightly moved or rotated, it is enough to pause any playing media. I'm assuming it thinks it's disconnected at that point. Audio is one of the most important features for me. It's a shame I'll probably have to RMA it. Any thoughts on the matter guys? Thanks!
Edit: There is no problem. Apparently I had had to exert more force than I thought should be required. I tried without a case on and was able to fully insert the jack with a fair amount of pressure. After doing so, I put back on the case and was able to use all my headphones. There isn't a lot of clearance, however being firm with the pressure exerted, all my headphones were able to be fully seated. That's one tight Jack! Also, I'll leave a quick review with the headphones I currently have available. On another note, I wish that the audio settings would provide information regarding if the dac/amp is providing high or low gain, as well as offer the ability to toggle it on or off. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Tested Headphones (Hi-Fi Quad DAC Enabled):
Meze 11 NEO IRIDIUM (IEMs): Easy to drive (Energy Efficient) - Loud, yet comfortable at volume 50*
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x: Easy to drive (Energy Efficient) - Loud, yet comfortable at volume 50*
Sennheiser HD 6XX: Easy to drive (Energy Efficient) - Loud, yet comfortable at volume 50*
HIFIMAN HE4XX: Harder to drive (Not Energy Efficient) - Still sounds absolutely amazing regardless - Volume at 65 is comfortable, 70 loud, 75 uncomfortably loud
*Recommended highest level of safe listening volume is 50. Once exceeded, you will receive a non-intrusive warning (not a dismissive window) each time saying that higher volume can damage your hearing. Volume limit is 75.
I have been having loose headphone jack issues. I am caseless now and fully seated. I pushed quite hard and am getting a stereo signal. Still quite loose and gets knocked out of the jack with even slight movement with the headphone cable... Quite annoying and not sure if there is a fix for it.
Take a pair of pliers, and flatten the end of a toothpick (I find it helpful, but not really necessary). Then dig around in the jack for lint with the toothpick. I had the exact same problem after about a year, use wired high end phones all the time...apparently over time I packed some pocket lint in there. I had lost the noticeable click and also easily dislodged enough to pause the playback. No problems since cleaning it out. (also might help to turn it upside down while cleaning). I like the toothpick because you can dig around without much risk of damage to the inner components of the 3.5mm jack.
Speaker and earpiece volume has reduced. How can I clean? Is it possible to fit Rog5 speaker in place of Rog2
for slight cleaning use a toothbrush (medium hardness, preferably get a new one as a "dedicated" electronics brush) and just brush over the grills for few mins per grill. Dont be tempted to "push" the hairs down on grill, will yield opposite effect as it will push gunk further into the speaker area, just brushing should slowly bring it out/loosen it up, after which use a speaker cleaning app (yes, its a thing : d, it emits just bassy tones to "vibrate" gunk out)
